Reviews of Gold Ocean Curry Fish Head
Was walking to the mrt after lunch nearby one day and saw the crowd queuing and that every table had a claypot of curry fish head. Made a mental note to visit for lunch some day.
Came down before the lunch crowd one day and we managed to find a table. We were also informed that if you are getting the same side dishes to share for the whole table, then there is no need to join the queue. So we added pork fried in fermented paste and petai.
This was the first time I see curry still bubbling in the pot when served. Their curry is more of Indian style, but definitely something that people who are not used to strong flavours can take. Side dishes were alright but could be better if they were warm.
I super appreciate this place!
I visited Singapore with my family and this place offered affordable meals during our stay. We checked in at Wink Capsule Hotel so this place is just a few steps away which made it very convenient.
We didn’t want to eat here because it is right next to busy roads and only a few tables so it gets crowded real quick.
The staff are friendly and even with their limited English, we found a way to communicate well by pointing and nodding.
The food is delicious even for a simple eatery so really, all in all a good deal!
You can get rice, meat dish and one vegetable dish for 5 SGD.
They close at around 8pm though so it’s a good idea to have dinner before that. It is possible to have your meals to go if you choose to, and eat in your hotel instead.
They accept credit cards and cash.
Good tasting food at reasonable prices. Good place to bring foreign friends to try some local food, namely the curry fish head. Very popular at lunch time where the queue often stretches out to the adjacent shop lot. Good place to buy and takeaway and good also that they accept digital payments including Shopback pay. One of my regular lunch spots when I am in the area.
Expected long queue during lunch hours since this is in Central Business District (CBD) area. Curry fish head has a very thick gravy but might not be spicy enough for those who like it spicy. There are other dishes that you can order to add. Did not have to wait long for food.
Very good place for curry fish head or cai fan. The queue during lunch is long but move fast. Don’t forget to bring your tissue packet to chop table. Auntie and uncle will rush you if you’re too slow, so get with the program! Don’t be indecisive! Uncle ain’t got time for your sh@t.
One of my favorite places for the curry fish head, been going here for the past 6 years, always satisfying. 😋 For big groups, order the full fish head, it only cost $17 per pax, includes all the small dishes. Definitely worth the money and service is damn fast. Cheers 😁
Love the FHC here and their side dishes are pretty decent too. Hot tip: the Queue is only if you wish to takeaway or order single plate eat in... if you want a table immediately, just order a fish head & alacart dishes directly with the staff.. don't Queue, they will assign you a table! Steady service from the team!!
Nice food. All the food are nice and tasty. Be prepare for long queue in peak hour. Fish head curry is chinese version. Recommended food, you can refer to the photo. Price wise, reasonable price/not expensive.

I was by chance recommended by a colleague and then falls in love with this curry and mixed vegetables food! Every dish is fresh with its food’s original taste and not oily at all. I haven’t tried the fish head yet but I definitely will! Curry mutton is highly recommended!
Amazing food, great service. They even ask if you want fish head in your curry or only fillet. Highly recommended! Queuing is not avoidable during peek hours
Sambal blood cockles is a pleasant surprise, and I like the style of curry fish head which is a little sour. Nyonya style? The "damage" for 2 pax - $42
One of my fav economic stall in CBD! Food is fresh & lots of variety! Highly recommend the curry fish & ikan billis! ❤️
Cai Png (Mixed Vegetable Rice). This stall is the only stall i know that serves sambal cockles (deshelled).
Food is still good/ tasty.. but some we're served cold.. not quite what you'll expect from Ocean curry fish head.
Is a coffeeshop, only visit to buy their mixed vegetables rice. Always long queue but the queue moves quite fast. Slightly pricey but the dishes taste good compared to other mixed vegetables rice stall in Amoy. Quite difficult to get a table too, so better to tapau (take away).
Famous Cheap Curry Fish! Generous Portion! Remember to order the Cockles as well!
Be sure to look out for the operation hours, as they do have resting times in the middle of the day. Those starting hours you would need to give and take half an hour to ensure you will not be disappointed if you want to taste their food. Serves excellent dishes do not forget to try their Curry Fish Head which is clearly what they are popular for and also their sambal cockles.
It's signature curry fish head was superb. Not so chilli hot and the curry does have too much coconut which my friend and I prefer. The other dishes such as the squid in black sauce, veggies are also fresh and tasty.
The queue here is always so long, and the tables here are always fully occupied, yet the patrons are willing to wait for the table and queue, you can imagine how good the food here is. The curry here... yummy, there are no words to describe it, you must try it yourself to find out.
So good curry fish !!
Nice place for curry fish head craving. Hawker environment.
Variety is ok. Prefer if the fish curry has more of sour / Assam flavour.
If you are craving for fish head curry and at reasonable price this is the place around telok Ayer/ Robinson road. They also HV it in option of fish pieces instead of head for those of you who do not like head part of it. Gravy contains good amount of veggies like lady fingers and eggplant. Goes well with steamed rice
Arrived at 5pm and ordered 2 pieces of otah otah, a small plate of stir fry eggplant in sour Thai sauce and a claypot curry fish TAIL.
Otah Otah and Eggplant are good.
The fish tail portion is reasonably big. The curry gravy taste is acceptable except there are too much raw ingredient like lemongrass (use for making the gravy) are not grounded fine enough, thus making the gravy not as expectedly smooth.
Total paid SGD27.00 for the above order plus 2 plates of rice and 2 tall glasses of warm barley drinks.
Expensive or not, you decide.
Truly best. Don't queue up unless you're taking away. Just ask the ladies for a seat
I personally prefer the assam fish dish instead of the curry fish head clay pot. No comment on the dishes, any of the dish is nice 😁. Yet, the attitude of the staff who do the manual ordering of claypot would need to be improved.
One of the Best Crossovers of Far East Asian, Chinese and Indian Cuisine. The eating joint next door makes it a memorable visit next to such a formal and upmarket financial district.
Nice curry fish head and other dishes
Value for money, we tried fish fillet instead of the fish head with other meat and veggie side dishes. Along with lime plum juice, it was just great.
The curry fish head is worth the queue. Must try. You will enjoy it very much.
It is hot and spicy. Prep tissue
Favourite economy rice stall. Great chilli sauce, curry fish head, fried shrimp paste chicken. Prepared to wait during lunch hour.
even though it's called curry fish head - the star of this place is their economy rice and "petai beans". quality fish at the counter and very fast service keeps all their customers happy
Been eating the mixed rice here for years. The prices have gone up, but the food is always tasty.
Nice curry fish head. Spent about $15 per person with one curry fish head, one meat, one Vege, and rice for 4 people.
Decent Zichar place. Seafood is expensive tho.
No frills place. Excellent fish head curry! Very popular lunch spot so be prepared for a wait.
Mixed vegetables cum zichar store. Known for its curry fish head. Personally like the mutton curry and squid ink dishes.
Very busy place with long queues during lunch time. Make sure to reserve a table in advance. Fish curry is a must try here.
Can't get disappointed easily when it comes to this place for reasonably priced lunch and dinner. Great local affair if you can't decide what local chinese homecooked dishes to have!
Very good curry fish head with a good selection of dishes. Very popular during lunch with limited seatings
Very tasty fish head curry never tasted before. It is crowded during lunch time.
One of the best curry fish head I've tried before.. very crowded during lunch time..
Same as good old days, Assam or curry fish head still their flagship product. Worth a try
Best vaule for money. Fresh, tasty food. Long queue but the service is very fast.
Decent food, avg pricing. No need to queue if ordering dishes
Delicious curry fish head and many side dishes to go with the rice.
One of the best lunch venues in the Amoy area. Highly recommend!
The vege sour taste today, may be holiday period not enough man power to cook or control food quality...🤨
Super nice, simple and tasty, highly recommended
Good curry fish head but quite pricey
Affordable food. Good place for a cheap dinner in the evening
Known for their curry fish head, must try!
Good variety of side dishes choices.
Simply delicious food!! No aircon
Fish head curry is a must and their sotongs
Fantastic curry fish head!
Delicious local food
Yum
Always a hit!
Great place!
Dongpo meat? I had the rendang stir-fried mushrooms and stir-fried gongsimchae with two spoons of Sikkim sambal sauce and it was so good. I will definitely come here again☝️
claypot fishtail curry
18SGD
The portions are plentiful, but it's a bit pricey for street food.
The beautiful clerk is very friendly.
I also received an extra side dish.
To the simmering curry
Vegetables such as eggplant and okra, and large fish
The curry has a somewhat nostalgic tomato-flavored relaxing taste.
I want to try the fish head next time.
I don't know what it is, but I picked them one by one and 7.?? The amount came out. Feels like a Korean driver’s restaurant. It was fun and delicious.
It's busy at lunchtime, so I recommend going early. This is the best Chinese curry.
The combination of fish head and curry creates a fantastic taste, and as proof of this, the line to buy packaged food for lunch and dinner lasts for two hours every day...
It's even more fantastic when you taste it...
If you are going to Singapore, I highly recommend you to try it!!!!!
At the corner of Maccanan Street, opposite Xiamen Street Food Center. Not patronized.
Giod curry fish head
The fish curry tastes very good and goes well with rice. The taste of other dishes is not overwhelming. Auntie was in a hurry to clean up the dishes, so she cleaned them up while sitting and chatting.
