Reviews of Hakata Japanese Restaurant@NeWest
Great meal. Fast service. I had the hamburger steak. I think the flour was too much vs meat. So I don’t really like it. However, the teppanyaki tenderloin was great. Overall, good experience.
Food was delicious and well cooked. Prices are reasonable for what you get. They put a different spin on their flavors compared to what you get at most affordable Japanese restaurants. Their chawanmushi had like orange peel, and their soba's dip also had a slightly different flavor. Interesting stuff. We ordered a while fish and they gave us the option of having fish head (miso) soup, which was done fabulously. Only thing is someone forgot to enter our the fish (the star of the show) into the system so we waited a long time before asking to check on it and found out it wasn't even entered. Besides that it was all great and we will certainly be coming back happily.
Went here for dinner today. Okay honestly - the garlic prawns were my top dish. And the tempura moriawase was awesome! The yakitori series we ordered was okay okay.
We ordered the bara, torikawa, and momo.
It took sometime for it to be served too - which i understand its okay. Understaffed and slow service is totally fine with me.
But having being sat outside - the service was really slower and it was a challenge to get the attention of the staff. Most of the staff were perfectly fine with regards to service.
Food is a 7 out of 10 (portions are above average)
Service 6 out of 10
Overall - I came here coz the other restaurants were full or closed.
Nice cosy Japanese restaurant, generous cuts of sashimi. Ordering the sushi, sashimi and pickle platter along with 300ml of house sake came up to $60/pax.
Complimentary cold dishes were served at the start which included seaweed, as well as edamame.
However, sashimi quality wasn't anything to write home about, what a shame that inflation has caused many Japanese restaurants in Singapore to drop a tier in quality
Made a reservation at this quaint eatery via Eatigo for 50% off and my family thoroughly enjoyed the food! Service was good, and there were quite a few tables filled during lunch time. Pleasant experience :)
Slightly pricey, but sashimi was so fresh! Very thoughtful visuals for the chirashidon too! 💯
Very authentic Japanese restaurant. Food was fresh and delicious. Service was friendly and fast. Nice place for chill out
The ramen is not bad. Hot sake is at $10 for 100ml and $18 for 300ml
If you're looking for really good Japanese food and fresh sashimi, Hakata will not fail on both accounts. Simple yet tasty food, homely ambience, just so you can enjoy a meal of great quality.
Dishes are quite pricey though but I suppose quality commands a premium at that and worthwhile.
If you like quality Japanese food I'll say you can't go wrong here.
Great Japonese restaurant with very good sushis and lunch options
great service. chawanmushi came a little too raw but we were too full by then.
Is a great find! The cod fish biscuit lobster salad is so yummy! Good food, not too salty. Nice ambience. Will be back!
been to this place many times. usual Service was prompt and good. Food variety was good. I enjoyed most oden and beef tapenyaki. sake is always a mystery choice depending on whats available (tonkichi, Nigatta, Mie). We also ordered specialty fish pancake, grilled beeroots and sashimi. service food edamame, raddish and finally fruits made our day. Thank you.
Set meals were really value for money and the staff were lovely:) Sashimi is a must try!
Good taste and reasonable price.
Visited twice in 3 days.
First time was busy Friday night dinner and service was slow. Sashimi didn't arrive till long after main courses were finished which itself took a while to come. Overall good quality was decent.
Second time was weekend lunch. Service was prompt. Had the same sashimi order but this time the fish was mushy and not fresh.
Needs more consistency in service and quality.
Have been patronizing this restaurant since they were in Hong Leong Garden. The sashimi tasted good and most food served there are value for money. They used to serve set lunches at a good price too.
An authentic Japanese restaurant with a long history. Decades ago west coast used to be well known for great Japanese restaurants. If i am not wrong Hakata should be connected to that part of history.
They serve consistently great food at reasonable price and I have been their customer for many years.
Interesting find. Simple honest to goodness Japanese food - depending on your definition and expectations.
Accessibility and location very good - bright, spacious and clean basement carpark.
Sushi is okay Unagi rice is good, but rice seemed local variety. Desserts to go for- mocha crepe and sesame ice cream. And yes, you can opt for Japanese seating (on tatami).
Avoid if you can, peak hours, as the place could be very crowded and noisy.
Though pricings were abit high overall the food was great. Fair amount of portions, flavourful dishes and fresh sashimi! I love sashimi so when i tried theirs, it satisfied my cravings. They have a wide range of varieties too. All restaurant staff were friendly, loved the welcoming vibes.
Staff were attentive, and caring. They try to make you feel at home, though when it gets crowded they get overwhelmed.
Have only tried their cooked food. Oden is really good and comes with mustard on the side, a rare thing in Singapore. Their noodle soup dishes are warming and comforting.
Very good value with eatigo's 50% off!
Delectable food! The platter of sashimi is super fresh, they melted on my tongue. My daughters extremely love their Yaki Udon. It's umami flavour made it a savoury dish. The tempura prawns were large and were fried to perfection. The seafood fried rice was aromatic. Definitely going back again for more. If you want fresh premium japanese food, do not give this a miss!
Fresh salmon, nice lobster biscuit.
Bought 5 Chirashi Don and a pork curry rice. Take away. Not bad consider that's take away.
But waiting time is too long although restaurant was not full on a Wednesday night. Maybe dine in would be better. Will come back again.
We went here because we were craving for some Japanese food and our cravings were satisfied. They have a wide range of Japanese food and they offer it fresh. The ambiance is good and it's clean..
the pork and chicken has frozen smell. Saw owner's reply, I think u can do better in improving the frozen smell
Very well-executed family-style Japanese food at very decent pricing. Staff were friendly and attentive, really nothing to complain about.
super yummy and fresh sashimi
Good food. Authentic. Reasonably priced for the quality of food. Place looks a bit dated but overall good experience.
Their menu nice teryaki chicken set. This dish made me too full. Quite expensive but absolutely 👌. It is a Japanese restaurant.
Food is good, service is alright, and prices acceptable. Might be back.
More like a family restaurant and looks popular with the nearby Japanese residents. Food is decent and there are some great value offerings as long as you are not picky with quality.
Good. Beef is good with mixed vegetables. Add another 6 or so to get a set meal with miso soup, fruits, tofu and rice.
Nice fresh sashimi. Price is a little steep for the sashimi but the rest are ok. Would certainly visit again.
Service slightly slow even when seated. Drink cannot be served fast n no ice water given to cool down customers.
Just spend a quiet Sunday dinner with my sweetie, we just love the overall quality n portions of the Japanese food served over a bottle of warm sake. Will soon be back!!
Great place to have the japanese experience. Menu is a cross between izakaya and restaurant with very cheap mains.
Long waiting time and staff was unresponsive to customers waiting at entrance. Service level really needs major improvement. Waited 40mins for food to arrive and was average.
Best sashimi and sake in Singapore... Suggest come to try.... 99.9% food taste similar like Japan... You won't disappointed...
One of the better Japanese restaurants I have tried. Fresh quality food at reasonable price.
It used be a lot better. The unagi was rubbery and cut in the strangest strip, i have never seen unagi cut that way before.
Food and ambience was nice. Recommended to have a reservation in case of the crowd. Reasonably priced.
Nice and cosy environment. Food are good and affordable. Will definitely go again.
A cosy Japanese restaurant with good selection . Do book on eatigo to enjoy 20% discount.
Healthy & delicious. Though long waiting time recently due to shortage of staffs. Good luck guys!
Fresh Tasty Quality Food
Love the sashimi and food. Always a patron here.
The food is okay and pricing affordable.
Food, price reasonable but service is a little slow
Really really good food. Feels authentic.
Comfy place, staff are very friendly. And food is on point.
Slow in dishing out, but the service is good.
Food is OK, a bit dark in the restaurant
nice environment and food. fresh sashimi
Good service, food and atmosphere.
Cramped but reasonably good food.
If I live or work nearby, I'll go there. There were no strange arrangements unique to foreign countries, so I was able to eat with peace of mind.
There are assorted sashimi platters and set meals for one person, so you'll be happy to eat alone.
The sushi is fresh and delicious. The other items are okay.
So delicious!
