Reviews of Kajiken (Original)
A very simple meal at Tanjong Pagar! Enjoyed their nice noodles. The fillings were okay and normal. I could ask for lesser noodles but there was still planets for a full meal. There is a small soup paired with the dish
Overall it’s a nice place and the owners are nice. The tea was also refillable which we were grateful!

One of the best mazesobas I've eaten honestly. Love the fact that they have separate vinegar and chili oil bottles for you to add on to your noodles. I am honestly struggling to describe just how good it is so I HIGHLY recommend to just try. Definitely am coming back here.
We visited for dinner on a friday night and it was not as crowded. Service staff were very friendly and warm. Food came rather quickly.
We ordered the mazesoba, dry and soup. Both were very flavourful and delicious.
Highly recommend and definitely worth a try!
Very good maze soba. Big portion with complimentary free refillable soup. Kaarage is tops too.
Live birds took a liking as well.
My recent visit to Kajiken Ramen Restaurant left me with mixed feelings. On the positive side, the ramen noodles were undeniably delicious, boasting the perfect chewy texture that every ramen lover craves. The broth was flavorful and comforting, showcasing the restaurant's dedication to authentic Japanese cuisine.
However, there were areas that could use improvement. Firstly, the service was a bit slow, and it took longer than expected for our orders to arrive. Additionally, the restaurant could benefit from better organization and efficiency during peak hours to ensure a smoother dining experience for customers.
While the noodles were outstanding, I found the variety of toppings to be somewhat limited. Offering a wider selection of toppings could enhance the overall dining experience and cater to a broader range of preferences.
Despite these areas for improvement, Kajiken Ramen Restaurant still offers a satisfying ramen experience with its delicious noodles and authentic flavors. With some adjustments to service efficiency and menu options, it has the potential to become a standout destination for ramen enthusiasts.
Unfortunately, my experience at this ramen shop was disappointing. The char siew had a heavy pork smell and was overly salty, detracting from the overall flavor of the dish. Additionally, the space was very small and cramped, making it uncomfortable to enjoy the meal. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place for a satisfying ramen experience.
We had both mazesoba and ramen, it was decent. Ordered a side of handmade dumplings and they’re good! Limited seating available and it gets pretty warm inside. Spent around $20/pax, comes with free iced tea.
Amazing mazesoba. You have to try it! Noodle texture is springy, flavourful and chewy minced meat topped with generous serving of spring onions (LOVE!) It is not over oily that leaves a yucky taste in my mouth after eating. Super satisfied everytime I have my meal here. I usually order the original Taiwan mazesoba and they have been consistent with the quality and taste 👏🏻👍🏻 the roasted barley is pretty awesome too, the perfect light drink to "wash down" your palate.
It's also worth mentioning that the staff here are very attentive! Even at full house, we had a waitress who came to refill our roasted barley everytime it was below half cup. I don't like the soup that came with the mazesoba but the roasted barley really topped the experience of a fulfilling meal for me ❤️ need to go back soon!
Constant flow of customers. Indoor and outdoor seatings available. Loved the free flow of cool barley tea! Had the original mazesoba and the spicy level was about right for me. The accompanying soup was a compliment to the hotness of the noodles. Would go back again~
Taiwan mazesoba Nagoya style @ sdg 14.80- strong flavours. Definitely way stronger than the original mazesoba. Adding vinegar elevates the taste
Original mazesoba @ sgd 14.80- this is good and satisfying on its own!
I really enjoy the noodle texture! It goes so well with the sauce and mixture
Dry ramen is equally good. Friendly service. Popular shop, soup ramen sold out before dinner time. Nearing 7, crowd starts to flow in.
Revisit 13-Feb2023
Had a famous Tokyo soba in Jakarta before and was looking for the same thing in Singapore. This is it and it’s pretty good. Have to give a shout out to the smoked duck salad which is so nice that I nearly ordered another one. We ordered the Karaage version and even tried the complimentary small portion of rice at the end to really wipe out the leftover sauce! Overall it’s good and will come here again if I need my soba fix. 😊
Enjoyable lunch, good food, friendly service and free oolong tea. Ordered mazesoba nagoya style with lots of chives, green onions, seaweed and pork minced meat. Give it a good stir with the soft boiled egg, spoonful of soup and the right amount of vinegar to truly enjoy it. The gyoza is nicely pan fried too.
Taiwan maze soba
Taiwan Soup ramen
🍜 Food wise:
Taiwan maze soba was so fragrant, had a creamy texture and soft chewy noodles.
Noodles were Q, soaks up sauces well and slurping it was so satisfying!
The added fragrance from the seaweed and spring onions tasted so good, so aromatic and its colours were so pretty!
Nice chewy minced meat
along with its runny egg that gives the creaminess. So delicious bowl!
The soup one, love the savoury, sour and spicy sauce. The runny yolks were also delicious! However, the maze soba was the star of the show here, but do give them all the try!
✨ Ambience wise: Great Japanese vibes restaurant!
🤵🏻 Service wise: Great! Staff reminded us of the free upsize of noodles, so hearty meal!
💵 Price wise:
$13.80++ each!
This place was surprisingly good as this was my backup plan when the ramen stall round the corner was closed on their pre-dinner break. The ramen served here are dry and not like the ones you are accustomed to. The flavours blend really well together, especially when you mix them thoroughly or for 20 secs as instructed. If you are a big eater or are starving, go for the upsize, it’s complimentary and makes for a really satisfying meal.
Was walking aimlessly and looking for a good meal, when I walked past this place and saw the happy faces of the diners. Had the grilled cheese mazsoba and my tummy is super happy. Even the soup is good.
JAPANESE Bak Chor Mee that’s what I feel about the dishes they served.
I’m not impressed with the dish but it’s something more unique and expensive.
Base on 4x the price that I’m paying from the basic Bak Chor mee. I do not like the “all topping” as the meat are served cold.
Service: 4/5
Location: 5 mins walk from MRT 4/5
Price: 2/5
Food: 2/5
Overall: won’t be returning just to eat this cold Bak Chor mee. If you are at that area, more Korean and Japanese food for you to choose.
Great food but service during the lunch hour leaves much to be desired. Our group of three was grudgingly allowed two tables for four but were warned we had to share a table meant for two outdoors if more people came, but we were promised they could move us indoors.
However, other groups of three were given two tables to share and groups which came later were allowed to move in without any fuss. The server periodically came to remind us that our seats were temporary, which made the unfair treatment all the more obvious.
In addition, they got our orders wrong and cleared the bowls before we were done.
Not my first time here. The flavors are top notch and service is attentive. Will come back if I want ramen.
Nice, decent dry ramen. Came here because friends raved so much about it. Honestly though, it reminds me so much of Singapore's local (and much cheaper) Bak Chor Mee (minced pork noodle) from hawker stalls that I can't help but think that I would rather eat the bak chor mee instead. I mean, the mazesoba here tasted good, but I felt it somehow lacked the depth and layers of flavors usually found in a bowl of good ramen, or noodle for that matter. I guess everything tasted a bit... instant? Like a bunch of instant sauce, msg and powder all mashed up together. I don't know. The flavor was nice but kinda lack complexity. It packs a punch, but a little one dimensional. Overall, a nice, different experience, but I've satisfied my curiousity and craving. If you need a break from your usual ramen, this is nice enough. Not my favorite, but I wasn't really disappointed by it either. Anyway, if people said this is the best mazesoba in Singapore, I would stick to good old hawker's bak chor mee from now on.
A bowl will set you back 15-20sgd including the service charge. Note that it's a cash-only establishment so come prepared.
Simple and tasty mazesoba. As far as Japanese comfort food goes, this is definitely my go to. Noodles are absolutely delicious. Come here earlier to beat the queue!
My all-time favourite dry ramen is the Taiwan Mazesoba. It's free to upsize and ask for a small scope of rice to eat with the balance sauce and ingredients. Free hojicha too.
Beautifully chewy noodles with a wonderfully balanced seasoning and toppings. This is the Nagoya style mazesoba.
Went on a Friday night. There was a line, and the place is tiny, maybe only 15 seats, but the line moves fast, and service is efficient. Not a place to linger, but that's fine. Eat, enjoy, make room!
Hearty and delicious mazesoba! Space is a bit warm and small, but food is worth the visit. Good service too
Great aburasoba, noodles pick up the flavours of the toppings well and were smooth and springy. They let you upsize the noodle portion to 1.5x for free too! There's also free refill barley tea for every table.
Had it the first time years ago and finally came back to eat again in recent weeks! Happy to say standard remained consistent for so long!!!
Earnest and prompt service. Mazesoba was fantastic; ingredients, chilli sauce, vinegar and noodles came together in perfect, delicious, balanced harmony. It travelled very well too (we ordered two mazesobas to-go during P2HA: The Sequel). Am not the biggest eater so slight regrets at upsizing my noodles, heh. The “regular” portion would have sufficed!
This is one of my fave things to eat in Singapore now. Go for the normal Mazesoba upsize if you’re hungry, and don’t be vinegar shy. Vinegar adds a great dimension to an already excellent dish.
Imagine Japanese version, more substantial, more oomph and umami, more chewy yet firm noodles style of Singapore's Bak Chor Mee (or minced meat noodles). So don't expect a soupy ramen when you're here. Only a dry version.
Add your own chilli oil and vinegar to taste. They also have a very solid broth for you to sip in a cup, cold tea as drinks (complimentary).
Taiwan Mazesoba has more spring onions if you love it like I do. Get the Karaage for the variation of texture unless you are a huge fan of char siu.
They have a loyalty program going on at the Tanjong Pagar branch which allows additional topping so be sure to get them chops!!
As most would have known that Tanjong Pagar is an area that filled with plenty of ramen selections. The one I always like is Kajiken 歌志軒 Ramen.
It is very much like a Japanese version of Bak Chor Mee 🍜 very tasty. The noodles, egg and minced meat mixed just perfectly.
A unique twist on Ramen without broth! Requires you pay by cash only and has limited seating but is well worth the trip.
Famous for its dry ramen (maze soba, to be precise) - see photo. It comes with a small 'cup' of soup.at the side, which can be topped up once. This restaurant gets crowded after 1215pm on weekdays. So try to beat the lunch crowd or else you'll have to join the queue which clears up pretty quickly (note: the waitress will politely chase you out once you're done with your meal)
This place takes only CASH. Approximately $15 per pax for a regular size bowl of ramen.
My favorite mazesoba place in town! Free upsize. Free barley tea. Such a treat.
Cash only but what can you do.
One of the best mazesoba in spore but I think the other branch tastes even better.
Great tempuras, batter is light and crispy. Meat is tender and juicy. Portion is huge and well worth it
Amazing place with amazing food and imo one of the most flavorful maze soba in singapore
Great food n service. Environment could be improved - limited seats and very casual setting.
Always enjoy the mazesoba from Kajiken and the staff are kind and accommodating (especially when asking for another round of the broth). Only qualm is that the airconditioning is quite poor during my last few visits so it can get quite hot. Otherwise, I always enjoying going to Kajiken
Never had dry ramen before. I expected that it might be dry/crunchy but it was not. It’s more like a ramen pasta. This place blew my socks off.
One of the best ramen in singapore, but not the best I’ve ever had. Mazesoba was rich and tasty. Pretty spicy if you’re expecting Japanese kinda ramen. Limited seat.
Karaage is the highlight of my meal, flavourful and tender, though not very crispy (esp if not served on the side).
Mazesoba is great, everything just goes well together. Comfort food.
Crowded for weekday lunch.
This branch is very good. I have eaten at Kaijiken Paya Lebar before, and I know the ingredients are the same, but something is just different about the way they cook it.
The noodles are apart and dun clump together and are not too thick, the egg when mixed in with the noodles is flavourful with the onions. Well fried chicken karrage is fried chicken, but there's something better about it that I can't put my finger on.
They were also attentive to my needs to just add on a karrage to my order although it was probably a mistake and miscomm on my part.
5 stars for both service and food! I highly recommend this!
One of my favourite mazesoba places. There is free upsize noodles!
Easily one of my favorite restaurants to dine in, the staff are nice, the atmosphere is cozy, the queue isn't that long and the food is served fast. I always order the Taiwanese mazesoba. There's just so much flavor packed into one bowl. I highly recommend eating here.
Friendly and attentive service. We visited around 6pm when it was not crowded. Had taiwan mazesoba and char siew mazesoba. The food was soooooo good. They also have complementary tea and tissue. Only accept cash, nets, or scan n pay. Outside seats are very nice.
Overall a decent bowl with the noodles having a nice springy texture. Service was prompt. The biggest let down would be the ambience. Seating outside would also mean you become a good target for the mosquitos.
This was an excellent place to have dinner. The food was delicious (i had the fried chicken ramen) and it was filling as well. All orders come with cold green tea which is a bonus and drinks are reasonably priced.
The only con is that the place is not group friendly, but good for 2 people.
Definitely recommended this place to anyone out there.
The dry ramen was delicious and they have free upsize of noodles!! The soup tasted great. The noodles were chewy aldente. The sauce was flavourful. The pairing of everything in the bowl was heavenly. Yum yum!! 10/10 would recommend. Pls try!!
Highly recommended!
However, some flavours may not be for everyone.
The cheese ramen with salmon roe is a tad too salty. I ordered without the complimentary noodle upside. Perhaps, if there were to be more noodles, the saltiness will be more evenly distributed.
The spicky pork with corriander and salmon flakes with butter is the best!!!
Love the free flow of barley tea and complimentary rice at the end of the meal. The price is a littl steep.
Especially with the service charge.
If you work or live in the vicinity you can order from Foodpanda.
Yum!
Delicious dry ramen. The Taiwan style is my preferred choice. The chashu here is so so but the chicken karaage is very good. Remember to add vinegar to your noodles, really helps to cut through the grease. Cheerful and friendly staff.
For $15 you can get a generous bowl of dry ramen! (though it used to be even bigger portion in the past). Not like any other ramen you can find in Singapore. Worth visiting again!
Kajiken's Mazesoba Nagoya Style ramen is actually Taiwan Mix Noodle in Japanese style. It is dry ramen like our popular Dry Mee Pok. The ingredients are light sauce and spicy oil with ramen. The toppings are spicy minced pork with spring onions, seaweeds and a soft boiled egg. The house rule is that we have to thoroughly mix all ingredients for about 20 seconds before eating. After eating all the ramen, if there is any sauce or toppings left in the bowl, we can always ask the staff for free Oimeishi which is a small portion of rice to soak up the remainders in the bowl. Kajiken provides free flow of ice tea to customers. There are a bottle of vinegar and a bottle of spicy oil for customers to top up according to their likings. The Mazesoba was delicious and filling. Service quality is above average. 😃😃😃
We always go for the mazesoba. Springy noodles with flavourful toppings. Another convenient place for a quick and delicious meal.
Tried the dry ramen. Not mind-blowing but a good one by any yardstick
My favorite ramen place in Singapore. It’s not your typical soup ramen, but a dry ramen. Perfect for the hot Singapore weather. My favorite is the Taiwan style ramen. It’s the bomb!!!!! Served with chicken soup
Great noodle. Love the taste and also the condiments i.e. lots and lots of spring onion :) free soup and small bowl of rice to go with remaining sauce (once you are done with the noodle)
The best Taiwan noodle ever! We always come back for more. However there is only cash payment accepted here. Pls remember to bring enough $.
Very tasty noodles. Abit on the salty side. With free soup, free tea, free small rice.
Ramen was bouncy and chewy. Dish as a whole was so flavourful especially with the vinegar and the chilli oil. Yummy!
Highly recommended
I love their noodles
I tried their signature set. Really good balanced taste. Had me yearning for it just weeks after. Tiny seating but no frills price too.
It was good and very filling. Somewhat pricey but at least you can walk out with a full stomach with up sized noodles.
My current favorite maze soba place in town!
Chewy noodles, generous portion of meat! Comes with a soup which is sweet and tasty, with a good hint of ginger.
Best ramen ever!
Dry ramen noodles, free upside. Great for a quick pit stop while you visit the area.
The maze soba was fantastic, but you need to wait 15-20 minutes during peak hour..
Great chewy noodle texture! Free upsize but no side dishes. Only noodles
Dry ramen which I find very tasty. Tends to be quite crowded during lunch time so be prepared to queue.
I love this place, we go in average once a week 😍
Cash only
Small place, you might have to queue !
Great mazesoba! I'll definitely visit again to try more things.
Taste good yummy
the mazesoba eats
Love the Taiwanese mazesoba with karage
Too much salt...
Abura soba restaurant from Nagoya
Perfect when you want to eat noodles without soup.
If you're super hungry, you can get a free upsize when you order.
You can add vinegar or chili oil to your preference, so you can enjoy different flavors while eating.
When I ordered cilantro with additional toppings, I received a small plate of cilantro that was more than I expected, and I thoroughly enjoyed the abura soba, which is a blessing for cilantro lovers!

I would return without a doubt, their employees are fast and efficient, the food is very delicious, the spicy Dry masezoba is finger-licking good! It is also reasonably priced.
Personally, I like the mazesoba here the most in Singapore. You can increase the amount of noodles for free!
A very delicious abura soba restaurant. Apparently the main store is in Japan, but I ate it for the first time in Singapore. It's delicious
A Japanese noodle restaurant. It is not the regular Japanese ramen sold in Korea, but is served stir-fried with sauce. The taste is okay, but it can be a little greasy. It is a bit pricey as one bowl costs over 10,000 won. The portion size is good for a light meal and may not be enough for an adult male. It's worth a visit once, but I don't think it's a required course.
I wrote this 5 months ago, but it keeps reminding me of the Mazesoba I ate here. I will definitely go there next time I go to Singapore. I don’t think there is a good place to make majesoba in Korea.
I wrote this a year ago, but I went to Menya Hanabi in Sinsa-dong to relieve my resentment about Maze Soba. So I came to Singapore again, but I didn’t go.
Best mazesoba in Singapore
The taste of the noodles is okay, but a bit salty.
Pan-fried dumplings won’t work.
