Reviews of Kei Kaisendon Hillion Mall
Food is average. Place is uncomfortably cramped. Prices are not super cheap on par with such a small place. It’s ok if you are just needing a quick meal and they so happen to have seats.
Read all the mixed reviews about this tiny new eatery in Hillion Mall and finally got to try it myself. Intentionally went there before the dinner crowd before 6pm so had no problem getting a table. By the time I was done, there was a queue waiting for seats. It is a tiny eatery with very limited seats. Tried their dish #1 Kei Signature Kaisendon - there was a promotion on at $43something for 2 sets. Meal came with a prawn, salad, a hard boiled egg, clam soup and tea. Portion size is good and food is tasty.
Impressively cooked to perfection that befits how unforgettable and satisfying authentic Japanese cuisine tastes like. Kei Kaisendon. Love the Mentaiko Tamago, Eel and juicy drumlets, perfectly paired with their green tea which also has a nice rice fragrance. I found a rare gem and the best Japanese outlet at Hillion. I will be back!!!
really like this place, the service is very nice and friendly. there's this one time two of the employees are yelling at each other, dunno what they fight about but I still like the place tho. the salmon rice bowl is definitely worth a try and their gyoza is the best. the food always satisfy my cravings for Japanese food, I hope more people would come to this small stall.
The food is rather quite value for money. However, the quality of the food can vary. The fish/seafood can sometimes be not as fresh. As one may know, most of the dishes require fresh fish/seafood. Worth a try. Seats are limited.
I visited Kei Kaisendon at Hillion Mall today for lunch, which is the third branch of this restaurant that I've tried, and once again I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of their dishes. The restaurant's consistent dedication to providing fresh and flavorful seafood with rice has won me over as a loyal customer.
The seafood in their kaisendon bowls was especially delicious and showcased the quality of the ingredients used. Each piece of fish and seafood was perfectly prepared and had a distinct flavor that complemented the rice well. The rice was also cooked to perfection and was the perfect base for the seafood.
However, pls note the restaurant is really very small and can't accommodate many people. Definitely not a place for large groups.
Overall, I would highly recommend Kei Kaisendon to anyone looking for a tasty and satisfying meal. With their consistent quality and commitment to using fresh ingredients, it's no surprise that they have so many branches. If you're a fan of seafood/sashimi, you won't be disappointed!
Excellent food taste and reasonable price. Very good service.
Was at Hillion today and unsure what to have for my very late lunch. This staff approached me while I walked near the store. He was quick to guide me through the menu. I was the only patron at the time. It’s off- peak and this staff still tries to keep the hype in-store with constant greetings shout-out and trying to attract attention of passer-bys into the store while keeping his hands busy with chores.
I could have walked to other food outlets without his greetings and hospitality. I hope my note gets to his boss or the HR. To this worker “Cheers and keep it up”.
Food is always good as I am a regular patron at the Tanglin Mall outlet but the soup was especially good today at Hillion mall as it was piping hot, just right for the raining day!
Small Japanese cafe (rice focus rather than ramen).
Quick service, good variety of seafood rice dishes. Yakitori was tasty.
Note: very limited seating available.
Came here on a Saturday afternoon.
Standard of the food was pretty much the same as the other outlets (Good serving portion and fresh ingredients). Don't expect restaurant standard dining here but definitely happy food if you are looking to have a Japanese meal that doesn't go wrong.
Huge plus point was the service of their staff (Xiao Lin, 小林). He was passionate and greeted all the customers.
He was very eager to share their ongoing promotion to passerby.
Definitely made our dining experience better.
My favourite set is K2. Always back for more.
A very small shop at Hillion mall. Food is decent. Salmon sashimi is sliced too thin.
小Lin at Hillion Mall outlet is the best. His service and attention to detail is number 1! It’s a reason why my family always patronize this outlet. Food is superb and very value for money too! Highly recommended.
Interesting small shop. Good taste for visit. Location can be better if the shop is bigger
Fresh ingredient and very good customer service.
Surprisingly very good for their Kei signature kaisendon. Would absolutely love to be back to buy it again!!!!!!!!!
Love the set meal ,
serve delicious food menus
service charges, which is 2 steps away from the counter ,should be waived ;)
Fresh ingredients and the portion is just right. I ordered a regular kaisendon served with a salad and miso soup. I was a bit surprised seeing a lot of bad reviews but it does not take long to queue. The rice was cooked to perfection. It is indeed a small shop and may have to wait a bit longer during peak hour. Service attendant has been polite. Reasonably priced too! Definitely worth the price you are paying for.
I’m really surprised and impressed with the customer service!! 👍🏻👍🏻 The place is very small but great service and nice quality foods! The miso soup has clams. Mentaiko prawns so yummy! My visit was 12Jan 2023 8.45pm
The mentaiyaki kaisendon was awesome - fresh sashimi with a hint of smokiness from the mentaiko sauce and the portion size was generous. It is one of the better mentaiko chirashi dons out there and definitely come back again! Can be a bit pricey tho ($20+ aft gst and service charge).
Would be better if the outlet was bigger and more comfortable to dine in.
The Kei Signature Kaisen Don is so fresh and tasty! Its packed with 3 types of raw fish, octopus and fish roe. Comes with rice, miso soup, dried seaweed and salad. Looking forward to eating it again at the Hillion mall outlet.
Food is fresh and good. Served within minutes
Xiao Lin has the best service!
Delicious. Value for money, worth every bite! Highly recommended and their set meals are quite worth it too.
Excellent Japanese food with very friendly staff. Great service. Food is amazing. The best Japanese food I have had in the Bukhit Panjang area.
