Reviews of Keng Eng Kee Seafood @ Punggol SAFRA
Visited KEK for the 1st time today. What really stood out for me was the service! Place wasn't crowded during a Saturday lunch. Wait staff was very attentive and made recommendations based on group size and dishes chose.
Food was above average with the salted egg prawn being my favorite. The hor fun was a good eat too!
Love the zichar here! My friends and I really loved the salted egg yolk squid, coffee pork ribs, fish soup, chilli crab man tou and the spinach with 3 kinds of eggs. Some of us really loved the pig’s liver, describing it as “send you to heaven” 😂.
Really like the decor here too, it’s SG transport themed so there’s traffic light, MRT signs, a whole bus stop, zebra crossing, ERP and other traffic road signs. 😍super unique!!! I’ve never been to a place with such decor haha🙂
Doesn’t really live up to the hype. The dishes I’ve ordered have nothing to shout about. Just about any zhi char stalls. Some of the dishes are a little on the salty side. Curry fish head gravy was flavourful, more on the milky side. But very stingy on the fish meat given.
Overall, I would prefer to try other places instead.
Moonlight Hor Fan is a must try. Taste of wok hey in every bite. Ordered the one with beef but there were very few pieces of beef in the Hor Fan. We will go with the traditional Hor Fan next time. Salted Egg Crab was full of gravy and very meaty. Service was good and staff were attentive when we needed assistance. The place was crowded on a weekday night, so do come earlier or make reservation.
Food was great, environment was relaxing. Is best to book a reservation 1st before going down.
Thank you KEK, I think you made Punggol great again!
Food is 90% nice, the brinjal and roast chicken was a miss for me today. The rest definitely lived up to KEK’s reputation. Coffee pork ribs, the moonlight hor fun, the liver and the Choy Hiang bean curd were all spot on. My son likes the hot plate tofu as well.
The restaurant is super busy and as a result one dish was missed and being a new place, communications between staff needs to be improved.
I like it that they didn’t pack the pack so that it feels like eating in a sardine can. There’s enough space to even move in a wheelchair inside the restaurant.
Staff was friendly, ambience was nice. Love the environment :) Moonlight horfun indeed lives up to it's reputation.
Walked in on Sunday for lunch.
No queue.
Ordered 4 large size dishes with rices & drinks at $136 for 10paxs
Reasonable portion at this sizing
😋
The food is rich in flavor and delicious, the setting is enjoyable, and the staff is responsive to our needs too. Family-friendly eatery and gathering spot.
Good service by staff and food is fast and tasty. Recommended for family gathering.
Had a bad experience at KEK Punggol, need customer service training to their service staff. We had dinner on 27/07/2024 and there was a very rude male staff chasing us out from the restaurant claiming we have exceeded the 1.5 hours.
When we told him we are waiting for the dessert to be served and is not that we wanted to exceed the time frame. He gave us a kind of unhappy and stern look.
He can always check/approach with us in a polite manner whether have we finished the dinner as there is customer waiting for our table instead of directly telling us off we have exceeded the 1.5 hrs time frame and must leave the restaurant.
Even though the food is good but will never patronized this restaurant again as this is the first time being chase out by a service staff because of their 1.5 hrs time frame policy is up.
Very bad attitude of him.
Food was served quickly. All dishes - kang kong, claypot beancurd were good, with signature moonlight horfun being the best!
Four of us were here for lunch yesterday and had the moonlight horfun (drier would have been nicer for me), yam basket (not heavy at all), choy hiang beancurd (homemade, really fragrant). The highlight were the desserts. The glutinous rice with ice cream, orh ni and hei bi hiam deep fried ice cream were all fantastic! We ordered the last one twice as it was so special. Service was fast and the staff were friendly. Special mention goes to Kelly who was gentle in promoting online membership for their restaurant, gave us a sample bag of the salted egg fishskin to try as well as made the great recommendation of the deep fried ice cream. We will be back!
Restaurant was newly opened in Jan 2024 with rich references to the Singapore heartlands, e.g. NEL station signs, bus stop, carpark signboard and wall murals. A very instagrammable place!
Went for lunch yesterday (Friday) and there were plenty of seats available. The layout was spacious with some outdoor seats (more suited for evening diners due to the afternoon heat).
Group of 5 of us ordered Signature Moonlight Hor Fun (M), Coffee Pork Ribs (S), Marmite Chicken (S), Prawn Roll (S) and Stir Fried French Beans (S). Portion was generous and all the dishes were delicious! Best of all, there are no additional charges for GST and Service Charge! GST is already absorbed into the prices.
Noodles and rice were bad. Moonlight hor fun was just peppery hor fun. Tasted so bad and yet the waitress insisted its normal for hor fun to have pepper. I told her its FULL of pepper, more peppery than pepper crab. She replied, ok i redo a hor fun with no pepper. 😒
The rest of the dishes, prawn, pork ribs, salted squid was decent. But overall didnt enjoy my experience there
I love the collagen soup with pig stomach. Goes super well with rice. The 月光河lives up to its reputation. Weekday lunch will be a great time to visit due to lesser crowd and a more peaceful dining experience. There is also 90c drink promotion now.
Simple Seafood Restaurant. Not easily found on 2nd level of Safra Punggol. Hidden away from the lift.. worst of all, lift direct access to carpatk!
Simple decor in the restaurant but great food! Both my wife and me, we love prawns! We order cereal and mayonnaise both prawn dishes! We were not disappointed! Very fresh and big size prawns were used! Deliciously prepared!
Food service was fast and quality good. Har Cheong Gai was crispy, coffee pork ribs was juicy, yue Guang hor fun was tasty. The black pepper crab has a slightly different sauce from the usual kind but still tasted good. Place was clean also.
After patronizing KEK at Bt.Merah for years, happy to know there is another outlet at Punggol now which is near my working place. I just had the lunch with 2 colleagues, we ordered the black pepper deer meat, prawn paste chicken, tofu hot plate and salted egg squid. It was surprisingly average the taste, there was hardly any salted egg taste for the squid and the black pepper deer meat was overly salty. Bottom line, the food was nothing to shout, very ordinary chi zhar food at this outlet.
Interesting decoration. Great food, great and fast service! Recommended for all! A little pricey.
Brought overseas guests to the new outlet but we won’t be returning. Service was very slow. Reserved crab but no crab when we arrived at 7pm. Was told it was sold out by lunchtime. Safra member only had 10% off at Punggol but Tampines outlet has 15% off. Very disappointing experience.
Love the atmosphere and the food. I like the decor, so nostalgic!
Great food - the moonlight horfun was really flavourful. Decoration was whimsical too!
The 3rd branch of the legendary Keng Eng Kee Zichar.
While it lacks the neighbourhood charm of their flagship shop in Alexandra, the usual signature dishes and wok hei goodness can still be enjoyed here.
The hae bee hiam ice cream was a pleasant surprise. So good I had two.
Food is decent, definitely looking forward for my second visit with family.
The food is very delicious especially the hor fun! The service staff is friendly too
Great food but potion a bit too big. Can’t finished everything and need to take away.
I love the moonlight horfun and the yam paste ! it’s super delicious ! The service is excellent too !
the latest seafood stall at punggol area
Decor is interesting but the food was a bit of a letdown. Moonlight horfun lacked the wokhey and a tad cold. Prawn roll was ok but nothing outstanding. Not likely to return.
New outlet is very interesting! They have exclusive dishes like the grilled assorted seafood and the fried hae bee hiam ice cream which are really delicious!
Good food, fast service and interesting decor. I used to go to the Alexandra village outlet but can now satisfy my craving at this nearer branch!
Nicely set up. Remind us abt all the 90s atmosphere. Food very delicious too! Will surely recommend all my friends and families!!
Excellent service quality and food range! Suitable for formal or informal gatherings. Recommended to all
Food are nice, nice environment child friendly foods here.
