Reviews of Kin Hoi (Original) Famous Thai Food
Went around 530pm on a weekday, not crowded and food is served fast. Importantly, taste is great! for the food we ordered (2 pax) we finished all of it. Keep up the good work! and maintain the same consistency for many others to try.
Cockles are nice. $19. I feel a bit ex?
No more honey pork so ordered the fried pork
Solid Thai food served piping hot with authentic fulsome flavors- also reasonably priced. A true gem is the heart of expensive Holland V area
Food was really good. Didn't take long to come. Ample tables & seats. The tang hoon was clearly the highlight. It was as good as the one we frequent in Yaowarat.
Authentic Thai cuisine in casual neighbourhood street hawker style. The cockles were big, juicy, fresh, clean, and perfectly done that’s not over cooked and yet not creating a bloody mess. All dishes we ordered were delicious and well cooked. The only less than perfect dish was probably the squid which was a tad chewy. Other than that we’re happy and would definitely come back again.
Very reasonable price for cockles portion at $19 dollars. Can do 2 flavour. I personally think that the spicy level can be tweak between mild to very spicy as the Chili sauce have no much “ spicy kick” too.. will prefer spicier version. The melting beef is very good!! Service is Good and will recommend!! The prawn is meaty and quite fresh.. grill to chewy texture..’will be back again.
Great Thai food at a coffeeshop! We ordered:
- plain tanghoon: peppery, but very delicious. One of my favourite dishes
- crab meat fried rice: a bit bland, but still delicious
- century egg salad: the portion of century egg was generous
- plain omelette: one of my favourite dishes. The omelette was very crispy without being overly oily
- melting beef: one of my favourite dishes. The beef was tender and delicious
- Thai special double fried pork: one of my favourite dishes. The taste was good and the pork was tender
- grilled squid: nice and tender, but the taste was alright
- Thai fish cake: this was quite meh, but not bad for the price
- papaya salad: very spicy, but appetising
This is my go to place for authentic Thai food at affordable prices. What differentiates this stall is the quality and consistency of their food.
My favorite dishes include grilled beef cubes, fried pork neck, deep fried egg omelette, deep fried fish, green curry, Pad Thai, and Vermicelli.
Kin Hoi is an excellent cooked dishes place, prices not exorbitant and food is cooked nice. The beef is surprisingly great. Not so crowded weekdays but I've experienced significant crowds on weekends before.
What an amazing experience. This place definitely hit the spot when it came to my cravings with my lady.
The dual flavoured cockles @$19, accompanied by the signature chilli? Simply to die for.
Lovely food, a customer oriented team, and extremely worth every cent spent. Highly recommend the duck noodles, good both dry or soup with enough spice and flavour to savour and last through the meal.
I will be back!
A Thai eatery in a coffeeshop in Holland V. I enjoyed the cockles tremendously, and their Thai fluffy omelette with crab meat was wonderful too. The crayfish glass noodles in claypot were delicious - the noodles were totally on point but the crayfish felt dry. Perhaps the Tiger Prawns might have been a better option than crayfish.
Have heard much rave about this place so decided to give it a try since I can only visit hawker centres and coffee shops while waiting for my vaccination to be effective.
In my opinion their food is pretty overpriced eg half shelled cockles is $19, crab meat Thai omelette $18, plain bee boon $8, grilled squid $15. Only the gong gong felt reasonably priced at $8 so we ordered that and it was good. We also tried their duck noodle soup $5 which was pretty good.
Note they are not selling full shell cockles for now if you want to try that
any stalls in Golden Mile wud be better than this. heard Kin Hoi from many ppl last time about their quality n sauces but never expect it to be so so n not the similar taste as in Thailand itself . Pork fat for Grilled pork neck were 70:30 we duno how to eat. Mango salad was too salty cant even finish half. Half n Half cockles 19bucks for 6-7 nos per flavour so... i guess its super expensive for that price. idk... its my 2nd time n most probably my last visit .
2nd visit dated on Dec 2021.
We back again for 1st try tiger clams, Thai Honey pork and Crayfish Tang Hoon.
This time given 4* that others are good but because of the tiger clams size small and very hard to chew that might be over cooked?
=======================
1st visit dated on Aug 2021
Given 5* because of the food varieties, price, service, no GST and no service charge because located in coffee shop.
Slightly over cooked for Gong gong, hopefully will improve on next visit.
Melting beef is good as commented by my hubby that beef is his favorite.
Top shell salad and clams as meet the food standard.
Smoked duck not so salty that is yummy and tender..
Given more vegetables as requested but refused to accept extra charges..👍- impressed.
Definitely will be back again as we are seafood and shell lovers..
Was really hoping to receive crab with roe cos tze char stalls nowadays cannot promise.. so came across their posts in fb n decided to give it a try! The first word that came out from dad n my mouth was WOW! The taste was another WOW! Thank you soooooo much for the super nice food! Highly recommended! Will definitely order again! In fact, missing the crab roe already! 😋😋
Had yong tau foo for lunch and others for dinner (bought separately)
I'm sorry but the ytf cannot make it, the soup is passable but the fish ball was tasteless, it reminded me of my covid days when I lost my sense of taste and can only feel texture of foods...the only passable item was fish cake 👍🏼
I wish they put more veg too, but this is Thai ytf, so I'm unsure.
Dinner we had the cockles, tang hoon and beef. Good job with the beef! even my mom that doesn't eat much beef was impressed by it, I wished they removed the tendon parts, out of the order maybe 4 was overly chewy and couldn't swallow.
Cockles... ah, first few bites was shiok but the spicyness got too much at the end (I'm drinking milk now to soothe it) so it numbed my senses. I'd have prefer it slightly less spicy, a bit more tangy/garlicky and if they sold half portion because we are just 2 persons and would rather try more dishes. Tanghoon was dry, but passable. I'd suggest they put less noodle more sauce.
As the stall is nearby, I'm keen to try other dishes! Photos look good 👍🏼
Wonderful Thai zi char food in a heart of a HDB. Before the food even came, the boss was so attentive and helpful, going above and beyond to help us to get a comfortable seat and to recommend dishes. Every dish we got was either very nice or above average at a reasonable price range.
Highly recommend the crabmeat omelette and beef cubes in particular!
Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area, just note that as with all kopitiams, it gets a bit hot.
Just happen to be around the area… so went to try their dishes…. Just simple meal. Must say not bad the choice of thai food there. Reasonable price and serve food fast. No wait long. Will try other dishes again the next time.
Price is pretty reasonable for the large portion. Strongly recommend their bee hoon. The seafood was not bad. Their beef cubes were below average.
Gwen and I indulged in a delightful dinner at Kin Hoi at Holland Close. The crab fried rice, Tom Yum soup, mango salad, and fried pork were a symphony of flavors that left us enchanted. I wholeheartedly recommend this haven to fellow Thai food enthusiasts, and kudos to Daniel, the proprietor, for his attentive check-ins, adding a personal touch to our culinary experience.

If i ordered the cockles only, it'll definitely be a 5 star review, but it was let down by it's almost tasteless duck noodle. The signature spicy siham is a MUST TRY! Sibeh addictive!!! Can't stop eating...
Enjoyed this meal. Ordered the fried seabass, 2 style cockles, plain vermicilli, melting beef. All was very good!
My 3rd time ordering from them and this round more items from their menu. Food delivery time was as chosen and came piping hot. By the time my guests arrived and we dig in, tho it was already cold but every dish was so good, tasty, appetising and tasted just the authentic Thai style. My guests also gave thumbs up and were enjoying each and every dishes to the last bit. Towards the end of the meal, I then realised that one of the items, fried omelette with crab meat was not included in the delivery. I messaged to Kin Hoi and what can I say, the item was delivered to my doorstep within an hour. The person handling the whatsapp has been very responsive pre and post delivery. Customer service superb! I will definitely be back again and without doubt recommend to all my friends! Thank you Kin Hoi and team!
The food was very delicious. Hopefully I can go again to try other dishes.
The beef, pork and squid were nicely cooked (all soft and juicy); crayfish vermicelli (flavourful but a little dry) was ok; gong gong and cockles were a little disappointing (over cooked). I love the food but will think twice about returning because everything were served in disposables even for dine-in. The satay sticks were a little unhygienic (especially during the pandemic) as they were laid there for picking by everyone.
[Update: My wife got stomach flu (gastroenteritis) two days after our dinner there on 19 Apr, and we just happen to read in the news that the stall has been suspended due to an gastroenteritis outbreak]
Tried both kinds of hum. We love the thai style cockles! Big and juicy and not smelly. 2nd time having it. Personally think people who dont usually eat hum can give it a try. Service is abit slow during dinner time though
Fresh well washed cockles and well balanced mango sticky rice. Don’t forget to try thai river prawns! A little pricy for hawker but all worth the buck. Friendly service as well.
Beef melts in your mouth, the honey pork was tender and yummy. The cockles were fresh and clean. The gong gongs were nice too! Going to be a returning customer.
Tasty food but excessively overpriced. 8 dollars for mango salad that is barely 1 handful of mango. 15 dollars for a small cardboard packet of honey pork. 15 dollars for a tiny bowl of tomyum (vegetables only). Everything feels at least 150% of what a fair price would be, or basically you pay "medium" portion's price for "small" portion See photo, that is not a 50 dollars meal value even for a tze char...
I ordered the $5 duck noodle and the duck was dry and stale. It's a shame the quality is so bad as everything else about the dish was good.
Large cockles and blends perfectly with Kin Hoi thai chilli sauce. Must try though waiting time may be quite long, but worth trying. 👍
Packed the cockles and conch back for a late dinner. Items were fresh and didn't taste fishy. The (spicy) dip for the seafood complemented very well. Lovely.
It has been a long long time since i have cockles. The star of all these is actually the ingredients and food preparation. Though there was constant queue, the operation is fast enough to keep up with the service. Do come early before 5.30 to avoid the queue. These menu used to be in every food center as a beer companion but due to pollution, these shells are now a rare feast. $60.
Awesome food! Really authentic (my ex mother in law is Thai so I know). Friendly staff who accommodated my special requests too
Ordered birthday dinner for my brother.. kin hoi did such a wonderful job by adding some birthday wording on the container. All the food like the egg. Tung hoon. Beef and kailan were superb. My brother and his family enjoso much. Its my many time return for kin hoi. This is a must try .
Love to the max
Ordered delivery and food arrived punctually as stated. No hiccups at all. The cockles taste amazing, and super love the double fried pork. Will definitely order again in future to try other dishes 😋
was very delicious! ordered the cockles, vermicelli salad and melting beef. beef was exceptionally scrumptious! and the staff was very friendly. 13/10 recommend whooehoo!!
Repeat visit. Still taste good. But the cockles size now smaller and price adjusted upwards. Important thing is the preparation is clean.
Great food at a affordable price that is complemented with lovely service from the boss and the team! :)
(Food too tempting that we forgot to take picture first hahahahha)
Average Thai food, cockles are small although cashier said it’s medium. Nothing special and not cheap. Tanghoon prawn, crab omelette, somtam, Tom yum soup and cockles for nearly $100. For 3.
Affordable Thai food especially for lunch you top up $2 for Thai mango salad and tom yum soup( comes with prawn and sotong). Can spend less than $10 on a set depending on the Main you order. Ordered green curry and pineapple fried rice and they both tasted good. The pineapple fried rice came with alottt of rice... Colleagues also liked their fluffy egg omelette. Have to wait abit for food to be served, which is acceptable since food is made upon order. A suggestion however is to avoid use of frozen seafood - the squid is too chewy and tasteless especially. Or perhaps customers to choose options other than seafood.
1st time try. Ordered for take away. Super nice, the sambal very addictive! Legit steady.
All dishes tasted so good! Tables, chairs and cutlery all clean and new, boss very friendly too! Will bring more friends there.
A hidden and quiet ,3.8 to 4.0 ⭐️ place for Thai food .The spiciness is definitely 👍🏻 . It’s all depends to taste buds. A positive feedback 😊. Yum Yum !!!!!!
A few items may need a bit fine tuning, quality of the rice and seafood not to overcook for Tom Yum . Anyway the seafood freshness is still good to go for. Have tried the cockles and Tom Yum seafood with Vege 👍🏻.
The double fried pork and melting beef are superb 👌
Tried Kin Hoi for the 1st time last weekend, I liked the atmosphere and the staff were friendly enough. The 2 of us ordered the half half cockles (as it's their signature dish), green chicken curry, crab fried rice and stir fried kang kong. The kang kong had to sent back as it came cold, the staff were apologetic and brought us a hot one. The cockles also came a bit cold, not sure if they are meant to be like that? But we weren't a fan. The rest of the dishes were good! Would like to come back with a big group to try more dishes.
Their tang hoon is my favourite dish. Looks simple but tasty and amazing texture. Service staff are amazingly friendly too.
Delicious food!! and affordable pricing. Will come back again :)
Food was great even those we takeaway. Price for food was abit pricey and they accept CDC vouchers. The beef does not look like what was on the menu but it sure is cook really well. Meat was soft and flavorful. Honey pork and the cockles are must to order.
1st time
Really super long q and wait in line to order.
The full shell big 'sea hum' were sold out when we arrived at 6pm.
Consider the store opens at 4pm.
The half shell ones were nice.
The honey pork were out of expectation. Delicious.
The limited fresh oysters were big and juicy!
The gong gong were not satisfactory.
Staff were polite and served with pride. They chat with diners.
Yummy Cockles and seafood menu. Prawn Tang hoon is yummy too.
Yummy place with big and fresh cockles plus the grilled pork and beef is delicious 😋
affordable thai food in the hawker center! very authentic also
Food was good and delicious! Even my colleague who doesn’t eat thai food enjoyed it! The seafood used in the pad thai and tom yum soup were really fresh (especially the prawns!)
Ordered on their website and the kind people helped to expedite our order :) Gloves and tissues were also provided for takeaway.
Nice and a real hit for authentic thai food hidden in Holland Village. I love the House Special Vermicelli Calypot, Melting Beef and tomyom. For someone who usually not so keen on beef, I like the texture and taste, well executed by the owner. I can see the sincerity in cooking up good quality food. Definitely will be back. ^^
The cockles were clean, huge and juicy and most importantly pairs well with the chili sauce though it could be too spicy for some. 500g for $10
The cong cong I felt wasn't as tasty.
Worth the stop to check this stall out as they have glass noodles salad and other finger foods that goes well with food or even a beer
Had bbq squid, honey pork, melting beef, fried vermicelli, steam fish with sour sauce, cockles and crab meat omelette. Only honey pork, vermicelli and crab omelette (though the crab meat is a little hard)is memorable. In my opinion, the food is nice but not great.
Came to this place as recommended by a fren. Unanimous verdict by all who joined me - Truly authentic Thai delicacies with fresh ingredients used in all dishes. Special mention for their beef (MUST TRY!!!), fried egg (cracking sound when portioning the egg), tanghoon (generous portion & super yummy at $8 only!) and mango sticky rice (perfect coconut sweetness).
No regret to follow fren's recommendation, will surely return.
Tip: Got to request less spicy for Tom Yum soup for those who couldn't take hot food... owner insited to keep their level of spiciness so to maintain authenticity:)
The cockles and gong gong is one of the best that I have. Thumbs up for the food and highly recommended.
One of the best Thai food I have eaten in Singapore
10/10 recommended !
Queue was Long but moving quite fast, was there on Friday night 7.30pm, waited for 30min if I remembered correctly. Ordered 1kg whole sea hum, $10 portion of half shell hum and honey grill pork. Hum was juicy and big but the sauce are disappointing, something a missing in the thai sauce. I had better else where. Grilled pork can be missed, mediocre.
Food is tasty but lacks the punchiness/ommph that one normally associates with Thai food. Service and ambience are what one will expect from a coffeeshop setting. Overrated.
Not as good as expected, only the signature chili sauce is everything that make the dishes edible.
What a nice place and such great food. Tastes like in Thailand. Very nice and friendly staff. I had mango sallad, claypot glass noodles and cockles. All dishes where a real treat.
Super friendly staff and boss. Chatty
Food is actually great although can be a tad oily
I lived in Thailand for 20 years. This is home away from home. Elly lived near I was in Bangkok and was familiar with the foods I considered comfort food. Yah! Enjoyed it tremendously!
Good thai food at a neighbourhood coffeeshop. Friendly service too.
Food was great the beef cubes were real solid. Cockles are to die for not forgetting their oysters!!
Really great quality, no waiting time at all, but do go early to get full cockles! Will definately come back for more!
Most the items are really nice but their star cockles are extremely disappointing, overcooked and it simply disintegrate when touches it.
Needs bigger space as coffeeshop has limited tables shared between all the stalls. Extra chillies oso chargeable.
The food is nice incl the omelet with crab meat
The boss's service attitude is very good
food is delicious
Full of color, flavor and taste
Been here many times and never been disappointed
The taste is good, but it's really spicy.
The service is not bad, but the menu is small.
