Reviews of Lao Chang Sha
Food: 4star
Service between 3.5-4 star
Its a small shop in TaiSeng18 area with only 2 service staff. We reserved a table and the lady boss asked if we want to pre-order so they can get the ingredients prepared and cooked while we arrived. I thought its a nice proactive gesture from her. However when we arrived, they cant cope with the serivce. There were about 6-8 tables including us, a table of 12. They were so short-handed till the beers were not uncapped, we were give the tool and told to open and pour ourselves.
Food wise, the 辣子鸡was good, crispy but some were purely skin or flour.
Organic califlower 有机花菜 was my favourite but portion was small for 4-6pax, it felt the portion is goof for 2.
刀拍黄瓜
手撕包菜 - this was oily n veg was under cooked.
干捞粉丝煲 - not something i would order again.
香煎海鲈鱼 - this fish was good, though abit too oily 👍
蒜香小排 - nothing fantastic and it was too small and not mych meat
香爆大虾 - prawns were small, shell stick to the meat, i guessed they are not freshed n tasted so-so
chicken wings - nothing fantastic too
frog legs - my frens said its nice but i find it very oily
grilled lamb skew
Braised Beef Basket
红烧肉
酒鸭
I was in the UK and was taking western food the last 2 weeks. I was just having the craving for Chinese food so my wife suggest we dine at Lao Chang Sha this evening.
We ordered 4 dishes of their house specialties. The food looks simple but I must really recommend that their food tastes really authentic & deliciously great.
The pricing is good reasonable and their services I would say is great as the Bosses really makes their guest feels like home coming.
Superb!!!!
If you like Hunan food, then I think this is the place you've got to try. I highly recommend their Changsha stir-fried pork and grouper fish—super shiokkkkk hahah The staff are really friendly too, love them! 😊 Definitely bringing my friends there again soon!
Chili chicken and cauliflower tasted good but a bit too salty for us.
Very warm service.
Lively atmosphere.
Daily lunch special is only $5.80. It tastes good although the portion is a bit small.
I have been here many many many times! Probably go once a month at least. My friend said this is the best Hunan food she ate in singapore, and I agree!
A hidden gem :) a quiet place with super good food, and the owners are super nice :) i tried most of the dishes here and never disappointed ❤️
Very nice Chang Sha local food. They served us very politely and recommended us what is good depending on our preferences.
Both fry pork with chilli and hot plate squid are too salty for us, even for native China. Not sure can ask for less salty or not.
Food is so good. Food quality is good. Price is not cheap but reasonable
Had the chongqing grilled fish and hand shredded cabbage. Both were tasty and portion was generous. Service was good and staff was attentive. Overall good experience!
The boss Daniel is extremely friendly. We have been to this new restaurant several times and the food and service are always good. We especially like their barbecued skewers. Unlike the usual cumin powdered skewers, the skewers at 老长沙 are specially marinated for extra umami! 👍
Top quality food while prices are very reasonable. Not to mention the beers!!
My family is asking me when to go again.
Thanks much for the great experience!!!
Awesome food and beer.
it is a normal restaurant. food is normal.
per name, it should provide Hunan Food. but there is no Hunan Taste at all.
I love their beef skewers is so tender.. Must try it.
Food is nice, service good, environment is good
Very fantastic food!
This restaurant is very close to my office, and I've been there many times since it opened. It's my go-to lunch spot on Saturdays when I'm working overtime. I highly recommend the lamb skewers, stone pot fish, stir-fried eggplant with green beans, and braised pork with preserved vegetables.
The dishes aren't too oily or heavy, and I often see families coming over on weekends.
The owner and his wife are both very nice and cheerful!
The food is delicious, the service is very good and friendly, I will go again next time
Their grilled fish, frogs, and spicy chicken are spicy, numb, and fragrant. Authentic Chinese food. Especially the lamb skewers, one of the must-try 👍😋
The food tastes very authentic and the staff are very friendly! I will go there again next time!
Super delicious! It goes really well with rice!
