Reviews of Lee Kwang Kee Teochew Cuisine
Fish steamboat yummy, Very nice soup and the fish is nicely slice. The refill soup taste same as first serving. Authenic teochew foods wide varieties and dipping sauce. Price is reasonable especially when join as member, 20% discount for the steamboat. Elderly love it, worth going.
Great service. They keep topping up soup. Hotpot soup was fantastic.
Wasn’t feeling thirsty after the soup.
Food taste good and acceptable portion. Must try their stewed duck and fish head steamboat. Friendly and responsive staff. Just the price consider above average. They accept credit card payment. Must join their membership for discount. Environment will be warm if crowded and hope they can improve the ventilation.
9 pax for $315 is worth it for a family dinner. Please ask for a membership and got 20% off the fish pot.
1. The fish hotpot soup is flavorful.
2. The Yeemee surprised me! It’s very soft and full of ingredients.
3. Service is slow as not enough services staffs
To start off, service was a little meh and it felt like we were struggling to get their attention. After a long time, we managed to get their attention, but the staff wasn’t familiar with their own menu and we spent a bit of time just looking at each other until an experienced staff came.
Food wise was not bad!!! The pot was aesthetic and the food was full to the brim! Taste was also milky and delicious. Side dishes like salted egg squid and Omelette was a huge portion and tasty. If anything, the place was a little bit more expensive than your usual tze char!
Been here few times. We loved the charcoal fish head steamboat very much. So this is one of the place we would come for the fish head steamboat. We ordered a set for 10 persons and yes! with crab !! The mee shua was an add on $25. Overall we were very satisfied.
First time here as recommended by BIL. I personally find it “normal” only. Probably the broth is nice, and everything else is just so-so. Don’t know what the hype is all about.
This place looks unique and of cause they do deserve some credit for their food presentation. As for the service, really CMI. The female staff that took our order gives a can’t be bothered attitude and lack of friendliness.
Will I specifically go down there for the fish head soup? NAH unless their service improve! Furthermore, there’s way more better options than them.
Service was fine. We over ordered until need to dabao. Lol. Should have opted for small size instead of medium steamboat, esp there are other dishes in the order 😅. The 20% discount for members only on the fish steamboat. I will revisit for the steamboat, chef popiah( surprisingly good and only on certain days) and yam paste.
$188 set dinner. The dishes that stood out for me is the imperial pot with fish maw. Full of flavour and ingredients, and the yam paste dessert with white nuts was good too. The duck was ok. They ran out of Garoupa, offered prawns instead. The crab seemed very small but tastes good. Wet wipes are chargeable. The day that we were there, there was only 1 staff serving. We had to help ourselves to the various sauces and serving spoons. The air-condition was not turned on until requested. Ala carte may be better? The dining experience seemed abit stressed being under staffed and humid.
my guilty pleasure! i love their “porridge” (more of rice and soup) as it’s cooked in this meaty, flavourful broth where the scallions and ginger bits toppings compliment it so well! it’s the perfect meal for a cold weather and they have lots of pork chunks! (you can order the seafood too, its has a lighter taste) huge love to the red bean pancake. you can feel the slight crisp of pancake’s flaky skin on each bite, accompanied with a touch of sesame taste and a warm spread of red bean taste on ur taste buds! you could eat lots of this as unlike other red bean paste, this is mildly sweet. personally, nothing special about the dimsum though the shrimp wanton has actual fresh, juicy shrimps!
Had the imperial streamboat, the small portion was very generous. Comes with raw slices fish on the side, with extra veg, mushrooms and fried eggs to add on the streamboat looks very rustic and authentic.
The staff was very attentive ans polite.
Overall this was a very good experience.
The fish steamboat was pretty good and tasty. Only issue is the restaurant was pretty stuffy since there was no airconditioning inside - recommend booking in advance to get a seat outside.
Slightly pricey but would come back again.
Amazing fish soup during the night shift!
Ordered medium sized pomfret charcoal pot for 3 pax. Flavourful soup infused by dried fish and pre-fried pomfret head. Couldn't finish, so takeaway for next day dinner. Been coming back for over 9 years.
Fish head steamboat here is the best i’ve had so far. Every dish is savoury and awesome. Cold crab was just normal not fantastic. left out of the pictures is this cai po kwai teow that , i kid you not, the best i’ve had in my life so far. really awesome!! Definitely order the kwai teow. No regrets. Fish head steamboat is a cut above all the other steamboats i’ve ever had. $65 for a small one. It was enough to go around for my mum, wifey and me. Generous Fresh tasty fish slices and they constantly refill the super savoury soup! i signed up for the member and got a instant 20% disc on the steamboat. We also had yam paste for dessert (pumpkin and ginkgo options available) Service was excellent, generous refill of soups, tea. was there on a weekday evening and was not crowded. I would definitely visit again and strongly recommend to anyone looking for a hearty, satisfying chinese cuisine meal . :)
The overall experience was quite nice. The $8 portion was definitely worth it.
Food is great. Got the fish steamboat, dim sum (some hits and misses - custard liusha bao 流沙包 not bad). $210 for 6 pax. Reserved first. Join as member to get 20% off fish steamboat. Orh nee too sweet so it's disappointing. Ee mian not bad.
Ambience:
We sat outdoors and was greeted by a rat. Luckily we had finished dinner.
Service is poor. Asked if wet tissue was chargeable and cashier said yes but it's not in the bill.
Got to try this restaurant for the very first time about 9 years ago when they were still located at Rivervally. Their fish porridge and braised duck are quite popular amongst the regulars.
Duck : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (can be softer)
Porridge : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Salted Egg Toufu : Better to remove from menu
Pumpkin Yam Paste (Or Ni) : ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (blend well before eating)
We've come here in the past, but that was quite awhile ago, before Covid hit us. I recall the rather old-skool charcoal steamboats, with that somewhat Imperial cap over the chimney.
Well. Wifey and I came back here again after the long hiatus. We had the pomfret steamboat, since neither of us were fans of grouper. First thing we noted was the continuous refills of copious broth, given to us every few minutes, by a smiling staff.
Next was the Huge serving of Chinese cabbages inside the broth, with yam, and the fried bones from the Pomfret thrown in for good flavour. The rest of the fish was sliced nicely and boneless too! More vegetables followed, together with fried eggs, and inoki mushrooms.
It was rich, tasty, and very generous in its portions. Need I say more?
Prefers their weekends dim sum.
First time trying with my family of 3. Previously they don't have dim sum but they do now.
We had:
1. Steam carrot cake
2. Steam beancurd roll
3. Steam Xiaolong Bao
4. Steam Prawn Chives Dumpling
5. Seafood Roll
Dim sum no GST but ala carte has.
Total damage is about $35.
Food is good, they got a private room which is spacious, 2 big tables and a karaoke system. You can sing while you bond. Nice place.
Dim Sum is affordable and tasty too! Worth it!. Their Chai Por Hor Fun (dried radish hor fun) has much wok hei and flavour.
The fish soup been hoon is done with long hours of brewing fish bones. They don't skimp on raw ingredients.
Good dim sum at late hours. Authentic teochew settings and menu. Loved their fish porridge.
Mar 2024: we took away one dish for dinner and it was delicious - squid fried with vegetables, salt and garlic. The squid was sliced thinly and not tough.
Nice place for late night fish porridge and tim sum. They serve other cuisines as well.
Staffs were helpful and keep refilling the soup. The salted egg tofu was nice.
Can try not bad.
The fishhead steamboat is famous and must try, rest maybe hits n misses, according to my accompanying diners
Lovely place. Besides an HDB. The food was great. We were so stuffed with the variety of food our host ordered.
Yes, very yummy fish steamboat, cold crabs and Teochew braised duck with beancurd.
We will there on 24 Feb to celebrate my birthday.
Must order dishes are Radish noodle and duck meat. Hardly call to make reservations as no one was answering
The steamboat is really nice. The soup is a bit salty. Portions are reasonable. We ordered a few more dishes.
An authentic Teochew restaurant, uniquely under a HDB block, prices inclusive of service charge and GST. We found the food, dim sum and seafood fried noodles deletable and value for money in today's day and age. Planning to come back to try the popular porridge and fish head steamboat
24 hours teochew cuisine and cantonese handmade timsum. Nice ambience, friendly staff and good food at reasonable price. Located next to lor 8 Toa Payoh Market n Food centre.
10pm to 10am 20% discount.
This is one of the best fish-head steamboat in Singapore because the soup taste is filled with collagen. The broth comes with the fish head in it. The slice fish comes in a plate and you can enjoy that the freshness and smoothness of the fish broth, dipped together with the fried egg. It’s match made in heaven!
24 hrs place. Dim sum was well portioned and well priced. Food is decent and unlike some previous negative reviews, service was above average during dinner time though.
Here to salvage the reviews of this place. Yes, it was difficult to get a response from the staff but that’s because they were so crowded when I was there on a Wed evening. The food service was not slow, if anything I felt that it was quite fast. The food was good and reasonably priced. As with most restaurants, most of the dishes were good and a handful were not so good. My family really enjoyed the fish soup, fish porridge, braised duck and orh nee. Wouldn’t recommend the oyster omelette, it was very oily and soggy. We also ordered dim sum to complement our dinner. I also don’t feel that it is fair to rate the restaurant poorly because of parking. All in all, considering the variety, speed, price and quality of the food served, we would definitely revisit this place especially if we have fish soup craving in the middle of the night.
The food is good but some staffs are rude.
Food was great , staffs are very friendly and they keep refilling our soup. Very fresh fish.
The food was actually nice. I found the soup to be above average in taste for fish steamboats. However felt very thirsty when I got home as I am sensitive to msg these days and felt the thirst even till next day morning. Conclusion was taste was good only because there was quite a fair bit of msg inside.
Had wanted to try especially the imperial looking steamboat but was deterred by not so good reviews. Nevertheless, we didn't regret trying. We ordered a medium grouper steamboat that was packed with veg, yam, fried fish head and toufu. A plate of raw sliced fish for us to cook was fresh. We also ordered the hei cho and jelly pork leg which were both quite nice. The service staff was attentive and constantly refill our soup without us asking. Joining as a member on the spot gets 20% off for the steamboat. My parents were already planning their next visit.
My husband and I had the red garoupa Teochew style porridge. Fish was fresh and the broth was flavourful. However, be prepared to pay $30 for a medium size pot.
Quality of fish is inconsistent though. The second time we went, we ordered the same thing for dinner. We were disappointed - fish was not fresh and it was over cooked.
It is a very good and famous restaurent singapore. ln this area, not much people know about him. Now it has very economists breakfast, dimsun. and it has, very class stand dinne You can spend little money, you can also spend more than $300 for good food.
Food is awesome and the price is very reasonable. Do try the Batang Fish Porridge, and go for the large one as they give a generous amount of fish! It's 24 hours making it an awesome spot with family and friends gathering. Service is awfully messy and sassy, but remember they work really long shift so try to see past that. Also try: salted egg tofu, yam paste dessert.
The fish steamboat is super. Although a little expensive but you pay for quality. Join as a member and you will get 20% off this item. They also serve other quality Teochew dishes and Tim sum and it seems they are open 24hrs. The staff are very polite and attentive.
Came for their dim sum today and was really authentic and good. Service was quite fast despite an almost full house. Their steamed pork ribs is a must try. Ample parking at the HDB carpark. A good choice to spend your weekend morning.
Good place to eat sliced red Grouper fish mee sua, dim sum and teochew food
The steamboat on charcoal is its signature. Most dishes are delicious though some may be a bit salty if eaten without rice. Service varies depending on staff. One lady serving the outdoor tables always tried to upsell but the other staff are fine. The place is always packed on weekends so it's best to make reservations.
The dim sum was sad, pig trotters a bit too salty for my taste. The salted egg yolk bun was nice and fluff, the char siew bao(a supposed staple in dim sum)was no good..too much flour and the filling was not tasty.
They missed out 1 order of our but we were stuffed so we cancelled.
The additional 1 star I provided was cuz the beehoon was very tasty. Had a tinge of spice to it, the eggs and mushroom well tossed on the wok to give it a fiery "wok hei" (char smoked taste) Wait staff was a bit of the edge yesterday.. maybe something happened.
Hope to try the fish head steamboat some time next time.
Very tasty teochew fish head charcoal steamboat. Ample parking. They served tim sum and also a good variety of zi char dishes. Service is good and fast.
Tasty steam boat, tim sum. Join the membership for free and get discounts on the current visit. Service is generally good except for 1 particularly PRC captain who is rude and unhelpful
Their teochew porridge is a must-try!!!! Not forgetting the steamboat too! Where else can you find such nice steamboat pot around SG? Go for it! I guarantee satisfactory!
Like fish porridge.
Specially good for late birds as restaurant open up late, the fish porridge is very good, cheap!
Recommend ordering the fish head steamboat and the braised combination set!
A kind of hot pot where you can eat vegetables and fish of your choice in white fish broth~~
You put charcoal in it and blanch it in a utensil similar to a Korean Sinseon-ro.
It’s hot to eat while holding a pot of boiling charcoal!
But it's so delicious!
After sweating a lot, I feel like I was properly nourished.
Hot pot soup is great
tasty
Excellent service
The waiter is very kind
The fish is quite fresh, but the soup is a bit too salty. The attitude of the waiter is indeed as described in the reviews😅
