Reviews of Little Tokio
Interesting idea to have an izakaya in the heartland area.
Food was nice but a tad salty for those with a light palate. The service was prompt. We ordered the gyu shabu salad, chicken karaage, squid karaage and the tonkotsu & Ebi fry.
It's a bit too much for 2 pax 😅 tbh. We will go try their skewers and beer when there's a chance.
Small and cosy Japanese food in the neighbourhood. If you are looking for a quick Japanese food fix with beer or sake, this is the place.
Can be quite crowded during dinner time but other than that generally it’s still fine.
Food wise average and the price slightly towards the higher side.
Nice cosy little place with good affordable japanese food. Teppanyaki set meal came out sizzling hot looking so appetizing n was indeed so
Cozy eatery at Tampines neighborhood. Service was fast. Food came quite fast, too. We had the saba hotplate which was flavorful. A bit on the salty side though. Will visit again.
Nice! The gyu shabu garlic fried rice is just enough for a satisfying fill but not bloated, so you have more appetite for other stuff!! :))
The food portion is big .The sauce is more to sweeter side. The grill ika is huge.Ordered the set of skewers consist of ten sticks .Unagi and chicken wing are the best I even tabao them.We also order wagyu steak .
Quantity - just nice, not too little, not too much
Quality - Good. Fried Rice is a must.
Sat inside, felt little warm.
The food and drinks at this place is really good and quite value for money! With the exception of the Teriyaka sauce being a tad sweet, the rest are all good! We came during lunch and the two staffs were struggling to serve the full restaurant and our additional orders kept getting missed out. But my main grip that may deter me from coming back is probably how hot the place it. There are three fans and 2 aircons but the restaurant is unbelievably warm.
Nonetheless, food is still great! Would not go out of my way to come back but may dine in if i walked past!
This is a nice and cosy place to dine. The teppanyaki dishes were delicious and reasonably priced.
They offer an array of izakaya style small plates and yakitori skewers selling at 25.90 for 10 sticks. Would be back for more.
Food was delicious and served very quickly. Staff was friendly and helpful in making recommendations.
Cozy environment, good service. The pork is flavourful and not tough, easy to chew. The salmon is pretty standard. The udon soup is light in taste which is just nice to compliment the flavourful pork & salmon. The side (squid) is crispy and nice.
This little gem must be a source of joy for many residents in the heartlands of Tampines. With a google rating of 4.5 [344 reviews], Little Tokyo is doing a great job to keep diners' bellies happy!
It was my pleasure to dine and enjoy the food here. My personal favorites are the Sashimi Moriawase, Ikayaki and a mixture of grilled skewers (Yakimono). They do have a Yakimono beer set going for $49.90! I will definitely come back for this 🤤👍.
Yakimono for Keanmono, perfect match for me 😋

Got the grilled chicken thigh and teppanyaki saba. The sauce and marinade on both were super yummy and flavourful! Came on Saturday night just before the was a queue. Food didn't take long to serve👍🏻
The things are a little salty, but good overall. Came at 12.30, service was quick, restaurant was half filled. Ordered the 10.90 set, chicken katsu don, the eggs were jammy, more like chawamushi and the rice was wet, but it was still good. Mentaiko sauce has a kick, so be careful when ordering it if you can't take spice. Staff was friendly and chill, all in all, a good lunch option. Plus they have 3.90 beer (before gst are service charge) before 3.59pm, so lunch crowd can leverage that.
Very good food and drinks. Reasonable price too. We had the Wagyu and pork with garlic rice full set. Finish off with high ball. A satisfying meal 😃
Super LOVED my dine in with my sister tonight. So much so I had to leave a review. Food was fresh, taste on point and in particular the guy in specs tonight was really super friendly. Would be great if more of the waiters have his sort of energy. Def gunna be a returning customer again (probably for the happy hours promo … $3.90 for a pine, count me in) IF I HAD TO NICKPICK I would say I hope they improvised their catering box (brought my partner some good food too) cause the plastic flimsy box and bag is just not it(sauce spilled) but food was still good! AND I really recommend eating in instead of taking away. They served really fast and wagyu tho not mid rare was still really tender and succulent! Crispy pork was pretty good too I guess mainly it’s very value for dollar!
This is exactly what a neighbourhood izakaya would be like. There's a wide variety of food, and the price point is reasonable. We would have had a cheaper and also fulfilling meal if we went for the teppanyaki set meals, but this is an izakaya so we went for our usual yakitoris, cold dishes and fried goods. Food came in good portions, and tasted hearty and good. I only find the sashimi were sliced a bit too thinly, but at 12.90 for 6 slices and 2 fresh oysters sure.
Had the Ikayaki (grilled squid) set, very filling and well-priced for its volume. But could not resist the oysters that reviews here rave about. Good stuff, as fresh as you like your oysters. Go at non-peak hours for better experience.
Food was nice and music was a BANGER! 🤟🏻
Cosy little friendly personal place to eat
Ordered sashimi moriawase, camembert cheese mentaiko and buta shabu rice set. Quality is average. Salmon sashimi slice is too thin, while the sauce for buta shabu is a tad too sweet. Costs about $40.
Food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. This restaurant gave me Japan vibes as the food were all served together and not one by one👍. Found my favourite place to eat.
affordable food, great service!! the lunch set is of great value 20/10 recommend
i recommend the udon!!
Portions were substantial and food was flavourful! Love that it’s a neighbourhood outlet.
the atmosphere seems a bit hot yet quiet. Though alot if chit chattering around this place, tge service is perfect with nice servers and fantastic food.id thus conclude it as a four star.
Generous portions overall, not super exciting but would go again.
The skewers (shiitake mushroom and enoki bacon) were really good, but the rest were ok. The salmon sashimi was not the best, but the price was lower than most other restaurants. The portions of the main course (teriyaki chicken and salmon mentaiko) were also bigger than expected. Dessert was ok.
Nice place , fair price for sashimi . Ika was fresh. Skewers sauce was good, beef were mostly good. Might come again if in the area
Nice place near neughbourhood. Wagyu beef steak taste good but a bit overcooked.
Cosy place for lunch. From sashimi to main dish, was nice.
We actually clear our plates clean...
V Decent food and a neighbourhood.
Spoiled for choice? Just order what you want. It is worth it.
Frequents here often. Food is very tasty and good quality for a little place in the heartlands. The garlic fried rice always out of stock so come earlier. Indoors quite cramp.
Been here a couple of times, been a pleasant experience :) Food is of good quality, will come back again!
The food are very affordable and portions are big.. their sashimi is very fresh and thick and very worth it for the price . For sashimi lovers , it is really difficult to find thick and fresh slices at such affordable prices.
Service is good and fast. Will come back again and introduce to friends
The food was okay! The sashimi slices are big, the soya sauce was unexpectedly more salty than any other Japanese soya sauce that I've tasted. The grilled squid was big in size. The miso soup was more salty too. Generally all is okay , will come back and try the rest.
Wonderful place to have dinner. Easy order system and fast food services.
I ordered set meal, but will charge extra for the miso soup and condiments... Rice okay, fried meat would've been tasteless without the sauce on top... That's about it.
My hubby and I came after hearing good stuff abt this place from the radio. Nice small Jap restaurant hidden within the Tampines neighbourhood. The place is a bit cramped, I think it's quite challenging to have a party of 6. Service was good and very fast. Food was very good! We ordered 4 yakitoris, pork balls, scallops, beef cubes and beef wrapped around mushrooms. We also ordered the set with grilled squid and tamago with mentaiko. Portion was perfect for both of us. Loved all the food except the pork balls. It's like overly minced meat with no texture. Otherwise, all were good. The green tea was non-refillable, which I thought was rather odd and a small minus point for me. Overall, I liked this place and will definitely come again!
Food is very good and affordable. Would definitely come again!
a favourite neighborhood hangout place for my friends and my family for great food, accompanied with service n atmosphere that is Cosy n homely.
Cosy but small joint with great service from staff. Food affordable and tasty! Highly recommend and will be back for sure :)
Great food and atmosphere! Henry was excellent at recommending different dishes to try. Definitely a local spot

Recommended by friends, good nice food.
Affordable price and high quality Japanese food
Gd food for local students and teachers to drop by for lunch , worth the price and distance!
Clean & cozy atmosphere, friendly service & nice food, sure will come again
Food was excellent with generous portions, thanks Henry for the great service!
Love the Japanese vibes here!
Food presentation looks spectacularly good. Food is tasty and value for money but might need to expect a bit long wait. Service is second to none. Will definitely come back again!
Cosy jap restaurant tucked in Tampines. Kids loved the chicken karaage. Will be a regular here with the family!
Super value for money - the skewers are very tasty and the beer 😍
A surprisingly affordable place in the quaint neighbourhood of Tampines West. Food is delicious as well. Will definitely come back again :)
Good place with affordable lunch deals
Food is very nice.
Love the oysters !
