Melben crab noodle soup never disappoints. Soup is light and milky which complements the sweetness of the crab well. Their creamy salted egg yolk crab is great too - sauce is very flavourful. Only downside is the ambience or more so, the lack of ambience as it’s set in a pretty dead small hawker centre.

Food is above average. Good wok hei. Quite generous with ingredients. Will try their famous crab dishes the next time. Service quality is good since we came after 8pm when it’s less busy.

<ö+ TasteMarked Reviews +ø> It is our first time exploring this neighbourhood when we found this restaurant. We have eaten at Melben in Toh Payoh a couple of times. People said this one was a knock-off though. Here we have tried the signature food - laksa and fish beehoon. Very thick soup and very tasty, what a nice surprise. We love it and will come back again sometime to try other dishes. What I like: - very good taste for both fish soup and laksa - the breading of the fry fish - the fish cakes in the laksa have very strong garlic flavour - very cheap: laksa $3.5, fish beehoon $5 What can be improved: - serving too slow, took 20 minutes for 2 noodles - the china waitresses not very responsive, not well trained - noodles served in a small stainless steel bowl like dog food - the only 1 piece of shrimp in the laksa was a screw up - totally not fresh and over cooked

I am rating 4 star based on the dry seafood hor fun I had. The hor fun had wok hey, but there just wasn't enough flavour (I guess that's what you can out of fresh seafood) I think a little more egg would have enhanced the dish a lot. Of course I would try the crab next time. With more folks.

Ordered delivery about $400+ dollars. 4 crabs 950gm x 3 800 x 1. Arrived piping hot. Requested roe and no chilli for one of the crab but both request was ignored. Chicken is dry do not order. Sweet and sour pork not bad. Crab also is nice, meaty and fresh. Ordered chilli/salted egg dry/bee hoon soup/shimmering sand , the sauce for chilli and shimmering sand is good, goes well with the mantou. They will send you a email when it’s delivery, definitely ordering again.

Salted egg sotong and ginger fish slices are all very solid. But kang Kong a bit bland and lacking wok hey. Just located in a coffee shop so not very nice atmosphere. Their other branch near botanic garden seem much more like a proper restaurant.

Was unsure whether to bring my parents here because of the mixed reviews but I've tried the other Melbens so I thought I'd give this a go. Sure did not disappoint. Parents are from Penang and quite picky but they loved it! Delicious and reasonably priced.

The chilli crab tasted really fresh and with loads of roe that I can feel my cholesterol shooting up 🤣. The plain rice was rather hard and speciality tofu has room for improvement. Can use Favepay here for rebates.

They are still the best for crabs! I have tried many crab bee hoon and theirs cannot be beat. They have other dishes too and it's exquisite. Highly recommended and to order in advance. I usually use their website to order for pick up. Just that parking is a haste there. That's why it's best to take out/away from the restaurant.

My family had 8 courses package dinner at Melbern Seafood at Downtown East on last Sunday 201220. The environment of the restaurant was clean and there were distancing rule strictly controlled. The food are served hot, tasty, not salty and not oily, are perfectly meet my family expectations. There was a mini handwashing sink installed at the corner wall, it reduced our journey to the public restrooms just to wash our hands even thought we been issued wet towels. The serving staff are friendly, courtesy and always smiles, when serving us. It makes my day, my family members no complain but complimentary them. Keep up the good work!

Located at Downtown East Market Square level 1 nearby Teo Heng KTV outlet. Went to try out after reading some reviews on the quality of the crab served in Melben. Ordered a large steam crab and the dish turns out excellent - fresh, tender, meaty and sweet without question. Yummy. Rest of the dishes ordered are normal. Suggest patrons to go for set order else can be pricey.

I tried their hor fun for the first time today. Must say their ingredients are really fresh and I really liked the smooth texture of the hor fun. The only thing I missed was the slightly charred wok taste of the hor fun, which is not present in their style of cooking.

This down to earth original establishment will wow you over with their beautifully prepared dishes centred around their famous crab dishes. Had the chilli crab which was delicious with a tinge of tartness from the ketchup and sauce was nicely sticky (unlike some swimming in gravy), crushed white pepper crab with slices of ginger and spring onion (great alternative for those who love black pepper crabs!), butter sauce pork ribs was heavenly with the curry leaves n small red cut chilli adding some awesome flavour kicks. Ordered fried mantou to soak up the saucy goodness! Veg dishes (ordered one in clear broth; one brocolli, abalone slices and mushroom) were well balanced, not salty at all. Above it all, you'd never imagine a place famous for crabs making their laksa dish perfectly on point and at $3.50 a bowl, it's really just die die must try! Kudos chef! Be back soon..
