Reviews of MERCI MARCEL TIONG BAHRU
Had a lovely brunch at Marci Marcel and we’re already thinking of planning a next meal there to try more items on their menu.
The Ravioles de Royans is a top pick (waitress mentioned it’s a popular choice) for good reason! So savoury and creamy… We got the small but that’s typically for 1-2 pax to share. For 3-4, the waitress recommended the Large.
The Tarte Flambé #1 was pretty good. Crispy and salty (because of the ham). Wouldn’t say it’s a must get. I’d want to try the one with onions actually.
Buckwheat noodle salad was tangy and refreshing. There was enough dressing so the flavour was consistent throughout. Really loved that it was the right amount of sour!
We got the Christmas Present dessert - a hazelnut mousse shaped like a present. Super cute and tasted pretty good. Was light and not too dense.
We didn’t enjoy the Creme Brulee too much as we found it really sweet :\ and the custard was a little too eggy.
Overall, great meal. And the service was amazing. The manager on duty this afternoon (forgot to catch her name) was super great - she introduced the seasonal specials to us and gave great recommendations. Made our entire dining experience really good.
Merci Marcel is a delightful dining spot with a cozy and welcoming ambiance. The service was exceptional, with the service crew, Junia, going above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. She explained the entire menu thoroughly when she learned it was our first visit and even offered complimentary bread to enjoy with the Ravioles de Royans. Her food recommendations are excellent! My friend and I loved them.
The food itself was outstanding. The Ravioles de Royans were creamy and flavorful, with a lovely texture that paired well with the bread. The Tarte Flambée No. 2 was a perfect mix of crispiness and freshness, with toppings like blue cheese, spinach, pear, and walnuts creating a harmonious blend of flavors.
Merci Marcel’s excellent food, warm service, and cozy atmosphere make it a must-visit. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience!
Lovely place for afternoon tea but the back area was rather warm & humid. The passion fruit Crème Brûlée 🍮 dessert can be less sweet will be great! Limited street level parking available around the neighborhood.
Friendly service and great food. Love their sourdough bread, and best is that they can top up the sourdough bread when u ordered the platter. The black pepper tuna was great too, just that no side dish whatsoever for tuna.
Excellent service staff and great fresh ingredients. Definitely a very cosy environment and the service staff is excellent! As a foodies, once you taste any dish you can tell the quality of the ingredients. Well worth!
food was great, ravioli is a must try. pulled pork was tender, steak was well marinated and tender too.
service was sincere and responsive
will definitely come back for more
We enjoyed a lovely time over lunch with great food in a wonderful ambience. Julie provided superb friendly service which made it an even more pleasant and memorable time.
Food were deliciously delivered. We really love the ravioli so much that we ordered every time we visit.
Really love the vibe of this boutique cafe and the food is great! We ordered Crab Tartine and Tuna Tartare for light bite. It tastes delightful 🙂
Great atmosphere with really great service. Food is good! Get the ravioli!
Nice food and ambient atmosphere.
Ravioles & Club sandwich was delicious.
Flat white is very nice! Barromundi Rissto is delicious. Baby stroller friendly. Staffs are very friendly to baby. Nice place to chill.
Very friendly and very helpful staffs. Herman is extremely engaging with customers and always looking at our needs and preferences. Tempura chicken is just amazing with the tomato pineapple sauce. If you have food allergies, please let them know before ordering as they really cook their dishes the authentic way. Definitely will recommend to my friends. Will also come back
Nice ambience and vibe, good space for conversations, cozy. Food was not too bad, the cauliflower trio was nice
Nice ambience and food! And the servers were very polite and attentive to our needs.
Very nice atmosphere and food. Appreciated the recommendations by Jess on my first visit. 10/10 would come again.
I thoroughly enjoyed the ambience and food when i was here with my friend fivth. Service was awesome, served by the waitress named Jess. After service and chocolates was good too, my friend fivth and I had to even choose between chocolates or our friendship at the end of it. You can find out my choice from the pictures I uploaded 😜
Even though I have been living in this area for sometime I didn’t know that good restaurants like this exist. First impression was nice and the food came on time I would say. my friend reach their first ordered so I was able to get the dish on time.
The ambience was quite nice also the food. The staff was polite and I didn’t have any problem asking for water or additional stuff.
We could order from the table by scanning the QR code also we could do the payment using the same QR code . Overall it was a very nice experience
Chance upon this restaurant in tiong bahru for reminiscing my childhood days. This restaurant's food and drink amazed me! It is definitely a 5 star rating for the service and food in such a heart land area. I love the overall how proactive the service care crew is. I love how the manager Jena protrayed a confident and at home smile. I felt at ease and how she offered a better seating when we had no reservation when the seatings were available. I also love how the service care crew Jeannie remembered my drink and I thought only very atas restaurant in hotel had that kind of service. I appreciate all these. It's worthwhile to write a long review to applaud to this great service, atmosphere and food here.
Nice cosy setup , perfect for a family brunch .
The service was amazing , they even adjusted the menu to accommodate vegetarian options .
The coffee was perfect and food preparation had great attention to detail .
Great coffee and delicious food. Overall atmosphere was pretty great, will be happy to visit here again
service crew were excellent:) the ceiling fan’s wind was too strong and one of their staff was kind to accommodate our request to lower the speed…much appreciated:) love the ambience. We ordered the following items:
1. Caesar salad - if you like kale, do order it. However, I’m not a kale lover. Do hope the chicken was more tender. Love the fried bacon bits though. Wish there were more!
2. Lemon Pie - everything was lovely except the crumbs were a bit tough to bite, wish they were softer
3. Croissants - one of the best I’ve ever tasted especially with their butter! Must order!
5 stars for service as we were ushered and served with very pleasant service staffs throughout the meal. The food, however, can be improved. Chicken on the Caesar salad is pretty tough and dry. Beef carpaccio was mediocre, drowned with shaved cheese. Scrambled eggs was pretty average. Truffle fries was alright but truffle taste not particularly outstanding. Ravioli was the best thing we ordered, with recommendation from the server. This is the large portion for $31++ honestly quite pricy. I don’t think I would return. Maybe just not my kind of food. Thoroughly disappointed as this place as such good reviews on Google.
Great place for brunch and it does live up to its reputation. The raviolis were heavenly! The plate might look small but the portion was just right with all the cheese. Also loved the crispy pizza, light and tasty.
And I must mention that Ms Shuang’s great hospitality made us feel very warm and cared for, merci!
As several people have said, this is a charming, whimsical cafe in French colonial style. The interior decor feels cozy and classic. The menu is adds some modern touches to known dishes. We enjoyed avocado toast with poached egg, a slice of moist cake, some hot coffee and a croissant. Everything was tasty and textures were spot on. Recommended!
Ordered the tarte flambee #3, french mac & cheese and crème brûlée, and all 3 fabulous. loved the super thin crust pizza. the mac & cheese surprised us in a good way! it was encased in a sort of a puff pastry which was delicious. the dish wasn’t too salty and the pasta was cooked just right. crème brûlée had the right balance of sourness and sweetness.
What made the dining experience even better was the warm service. The staff was super helpful and patient. Thank you!
First time here… team of 8 pac for lunch today- made reservation in advance. 3 Table kind of small to fit 8… a little squeeze. If Aircon can be cooler will be better.
The menu is quite a spread. Good selections of drinks. The food are great and so is the service. Attentive staff.
Will be back again.
Had a wonderful breakfast at Merci Marcel with my entire family… our first time here..
We ordered lots, including a cheese platter with their recommended cheeses … including a light blue Stilton… which we found amazing when match with the caramelised onions ..
The portions were all generous and the ingredients fresh..
The patio seating was also great with great natural lighting and a hue of air conditioning which made the dining great…
Service was also prompt and friendly.. deserve a thumbs up..
The experience is good. The staffs are very attentive and welcoming. Food quality can be improve as well as the price. Overall, we’ll still recommend for others to experience this restaurant.
Merci Marcel has a beautiful setup. Coffee was perfect. With so many good reviews, I expected better food options. I’ve had similar food at ordinary cafes.
But I think it’s a must go, to chill and relax close to a quaint neighbourhood with other things to explore as well.
Best to take an appointment and take a seat inside.
Also, it’s dog friendly. 🐩 which makes it lively 🤠 and fun 🙋♂️
Came here few times, and it hasn't changed. Love the ambience, service staffs and food. Had their seasonal menu Barramundi Risotto this time, fish is well cooked to my surprise. Will definitely be back if I'm around this area.
Had the best birthday breakfast at TB branch! Mae, christian and the other server were very nice. Food was so filling and delicious 😋
The food is superrrrr yummy and special and we were very impressed! We love the cocktails too. Ambience of the place is very calming as well and the servers are extremely friendly and helpful🫰
Great service, comfortable and pet friendly outdoor seating, but the food was not satisfactory. Had the brioche and granola. Granola portion was wayyyy too little. Brioche wasnt as good as I liked. It tastes homemade not in a good way but in a mediocre way..
The manager here delivers exceptional service. Whether you are celebrating a significant event or just catching up with friends, the staff will ensure you have an excellent experience. Everything on the menu is great! I will definitely return for the fantastic service and food.
Second time visit tried their new dishes Sauteed Barramundi rissoto and tarte flambee #4 . Their Christmas collabs with Luna, the Christmas present cake is very nice , I will definitely be back for this . Lovely latte art by Felicia.
Double date on a Friday night. Thought this was more of a brunch place but dinner menu was great. We loved the thin crust pizza and creamy mushroom side. High quality food and service in a lovely space. We will be back.
Ordered the cauliflower trio, the raviole, duck confit, and the creme brulee for 2 of us. Food was all excellent, well balanced flavors and sensible quantities (actually it's a bit on the heavy side so bring an appetite). Service was friendly, patient and prices were reasonable.
Tuna ceviche is a must to try, grilled eggplant with herbs.
Great service and great atmosphere.
Do book early.
5 star quality food, service and atmosphere.
Friendly and attentive crews ..
Amazing
First time checking out this French restaurant in the neighbourhood. Enjoyed the food especially the Ravioli and the marinated prawns.
Above all, the service was first class. We were served by Julia. She needs a raise. Made our day and experience enjoyable. Thank you !
Creative presentation of Mac & Cheese.
The food very delicious.
Servers were pleasant & attentive.
Excellent food and outdoor sitting is enjoyable because of the powerful fans. Ravioles is strongly recommended if you are a cheese lover. Beef burger is juicy. Latte with strong flavor.
Nice place to chill and relax. Coffee is good and food is acceptable. The cheese pasta is perfect to share as it is very cheesy for one person to finish. The crab open face sandwich is decent as well
Very nice and chill cafe in Tiong Bahru. The staff were pleasant and attentive to us. They even recommended that we ordered one item less in case we could not finish the food, and that was a very wise decision! The food was delicious, very flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere was very chill also :)
It's my first time visiting them and won't be the last time too! I love the ravioli. It's so creamy cheesy good! The staffs are very friendly and attentive. Shall come back again!
Probably the best brunch in Singapore. Love the bread, the coffee and everything over there. Good quality food with reasonable price, convenient location and comfortable in door environment.
I have also tried their dinner, which is quite tasty as well!
We went to this place for brunch with a few friends. They managed to accommodate us; however, it was at the back of the restaurant with direct sun on us and AC was not working properly. On the positive side the food was really tasty and I specifically enjoyed croissants with coffee. It tastes divine. Another thing that caught my eyes, it was the splitting the bills feature. They bring a QR code to you and by scanning the code you could pay all or a portion of the bill and then pass on to someone else to pay their share.
Overall a very nice place which would be worth a visit.
One of the best restaurants that we have visited lately. Staff were super, atmosphere was lovely. But the food! They were amazing! The prices were very reasonable and the unlimited top up of sparkling water shows that they know their customers well and have a solid business model.
Got the Tarte flambée #3 (thin crust pizza) and a small portion of Ravioles de Royans.
The truffle oil on the pizza isn’t noticeable, but overall the pizza taste was just nice and not too heavy.
The ravioli dish was nice and creamy but also not too overpowering.
The courtyard can be a little stuffy though there is some air conditioning. it’s still cooler than sitting outdoors though.
You can request for iced tap water at no charge.
Service was polite and pleasant. Would return to try their other dishes!
A very cute French restaurant that serves one of the tastiest Eggs Benedict. The moment I walked in, a staff greeted me with a "Bonjour" that made it feel like I was in France. The place is nicely decorated that gives off a soothing ambient perfect for brunch with a friend or a small group of people. Place is small but service is great and the eggs Benedict I ordered was one of the best. The organic poached eggs was the best I ever tasted on any Benedict and the Bayonne ham sticks were delicious. Highly recommend.
A great dog friendly cafe. Went with both dogs who promptly got served iced water in a bowl (before us humans of course!). We were there for Saturday brunch and only waited 10mins for an outside table. Food was great with one exception - too much truffle oil in the scrambled eggs…. The crab tartine and French ratatouille were both spot on.
Ambience was good. Staff were friendly.
Food was ok only, the portion was quite small.
For a French place their croissants were a bit sad, not really worth it.
Dining in maximum 2 hours only.
Aircond was not very strong, so if you are going during an extremely hot day (which is most days in Singapore) just be prepared.
This place is good but just too expensive to make it worth it. Our group had the poached eggs, croque Marcel, and marinated crab -- everything was good, except for the last one, which was just very weird. The ambience and service are top notch though!
Great food, excellent ambience, super friendly staff! The raviole was mind blowing. You might need to wait for 30 mins. It was still crowded at 1 in the PM. Nonetheless we will definitely come back again!
Delicious food and they were served quickly despite the peak hours. Try to make a reservation in advance if possible.
Love how friendly and cheerful the service staffs were, makes the whole dining experience amazing :)
Service should be 10/5 cos the waitresses were v friendly and attentive. Thanks for the great service, Jess and Shuang !
Absolutely excellent everything. Thank you very much.
Chill, comfortable atmosphere, good food & coffee. We love the croque Marcel
Great service. Ordered different dishes to share and everyone had different favourites. Pleasant experience. I especially enjoyed the crab tartine with avocado and alfalfa sprouts (not photographed). Wouldn’t mind dropping in again if we’re in the area!
tasty food and drinks in a beautiful decorated place. liked the sandwich or eggs dishes more than the salad offer. All look good even on the other plates of the guests. strongly recommend it for a tasty and healthy brunch or breakfast
Definitely a lovely experience in merci. Totally in love the ambience. Enter into a nice mood of nice French restaurant deco into a pretty backyard of rustic Paris. Lovely people , who totally are detail to your needs. If you are afraid of the heaty Singapore , good to opt for the "indoor" portion , gets a little warm if you do sweats easily. The food is quick to serve and nothing to be choosy about! Love the plating! Would love to come again!
From the coffee to the food, everything was delicious and well presented. I particularly liked the brioche from my french toast and the smoked salmon burger, so fluffy. To complement, service was 5 stars: the staff knows how to manage efficiently the Saturday morning brunch crowd, food comes quickly and everyone has a smile on their face.
No fuss french food that's of very good quality. Their concept is food sharing so the portion you order is good for 2-3 people. Tried their crab rillette for starters (must try), Angus beef (highly recommend it), Hokkaido scallop (so good!) for mains, roast asparagus (beautiful smoky taste that goes so well with the almond nuts) for sides. Drinks are at a pretty reasonable price too
Verdict: this goes into my SG food list
Definitely a good place for food. The croissant is fresh n super tasty. The staff are very lovely n friendly too. The coffee tasted lovely. Nice ambiance n definitely a place to come back again!
our favorite is the ravioli, my partner said it reminds him of his childhood creamy pasta
this branch has a warm atmosphere, small but still cute
Super chill place for weekend afternoon tea and dinner! Highly recommend the ravioli! It was so damn good! Get a small one to share so that you can get to try their other food too! Big shoutout to their service team as well; Kid, Dennis, shuang and all! Very attentive, SUPER FRIENDLY and really made us had a good time there!
Good brunch place :) yummy food and good ambiance
Kid provided support from beginning to end of the process. He is really informed and go the extra mile at every stage. I would recommend them unreservedly.
Food is awesome.
Tea and coffee are great.
The most amazing dining experience I had in years.
Brunch. Who doesn’t love brunch? Merci Marcel can convince anyone to love brunch. Located in Tiong. Bahru, along Club St, Meric Marcel stands in the corner of the beautifully well-lit location. I was hungover from a night of binge drinking the day before and needed a pick-me-up to keep me alive. I ordered tea, and the cordial staff served me a pot of aromatic black vanilla Kusmi Tea. The runny eggs were the perfect topping to crispy toast. The salmon was light and the kick of the pomegranate seeds on top woke up my palate. The french toast, a must order, was light and fluffy; I almost did not share it.
I think fundamentally this place has a great ambience and aesthetics. The service is also spectacular where the waiter put in effort to help us secure a seat during their busy lunch hour.
I had the egg benedict ($21) The mark of a good one is the nice flow of the poached eggs and the good consistency of the Hollandaise sauce which this dish had. However, I would much prefer the ham not to be fried till crisp as it then didn’t gel very well with the rest.
Their lemon pie, ravioli and duck Parmentier was good.
The service was good, waiter was patient enough to explain the menu.
Nice place, a bit on the pricy side but great for special occasions.
Very nice location, food was great.
The prices are expensive though. Our breakfast for two cost $80. The conservatory section also became very hot at one point & started to feel a little ill.
Great food, Great location and design wise for the interior was interesting to say. Great design in general. Food was great coffee was perfect 😊👌🏻 would definitely come back again and also added bonus for this being a pet friendly cafe 🐶
The coffee was great and the eggs benedict were well poached with excellent hollandaise. The avocado was fresh and the wait staff were enthusiastic!
I took my friends there for dinner at a French restaurant in a nice setting. All dishes are unique and delicious. They have a great share menu, and it's a great place to eat, drink, and chat with friends. I love it. I want to go again.
Thank you Marcel! The long-awaited coffee shop, the food did not disappoint and the service attitude was average.
🍞The classic toast has a very rich cheese and butter flavor, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Served with fruit and cream, every bite will have endless aftertaste!
🐟Red grouper fish is made by marinating chunks of red grouper fish in spices. It has no fishy smell and is full of sour and spicy taste. It is a cold main dish and is quite unique. ps: But it is suitable for people who like sour taste. It is really delicious. Sour 😅
🍔 The beef burger is just average, nothing special. The goat cheese that goes with it is authentic! But I still can’t get used to it, I feel like I’m back in Italy😅
💁🏻♂️The quality of the waiters is average, don’t use the excuse of being busy and crowded to do the job. The two men next to me ordered two glasses of beer. After leaving, the waiter smacked his lips and shook his head while clearing the table... For whatever reason, he seemed to have a very lack of service spirit...
I went on a Saturday morning around 8:30. I think Tiong Bahru Bakery was already lined up, but we got in easily.
In the front is the store, and in the back is a terrace with an open ceiling.
This time I sat on the terrace in the back. It's open and very nice.
The staff was very kind and carefully explained the menu to us even though we were having trouble deciding what to order. Also, I was impressed by the friendly and efficient response!
In the end, we ordered the most popular items, ravioli and French toast. Both were big hits.
The ravioli is rich in cheese and goes well with the cream. It looks a little small, but it's a little heavy with cheese and cream, so I think it's enough for a woman.
Is French toast made with almonds too? It had a lot of flavor and was light and delicious.
It seems to be a French restaurant at night, and there seems to be plenty of alcohol available.
Tiong Bahru is worth exploring. I will come again.
I visited on a weekday for an early lunch. I had researched flat coffee and ravioli as recommended, so I ordered them.
The cheese is rich and the coffee tastes like beans? It was really delicious, something I had never tasted before. I want to go again.
This is my second time ~ the food is still great 👍 and the service is good
The world's hippest cafe. Is it Yeonnam Yeonhui-dong?
But the downside is that it is a bit expensive.
Two drinks and a salad cost about $40 and 36,000 won.
Other than that, it's a good cafe for taking pretty pictures.
