Reviews of Nakhon Kitchen - Compass One
Nice Thai food at affordable price and portion. The side dish come in the range of $6-10, and the slight premium one at around $15-20. Love their Pandan chicken, Pork belly stir fry Basil, Eggplant with minced pork as well as their Ice Lemongrass drink. Queue can be as long as 30-45 mins during dinner time and expect longer waiting time for Side Dish that is more than $6.
Good: Almost all dishes has a robust taste. Lime, chilli garlic steam fish is fresh and pack a strong acidic profile and sure open up your appetite. Most important is that it's so budget friendly to my wallet.
Bad: Service was rather slow. I was sitting beside the counter and the cashier table and plants at the side has a layer of dust.
As there's no service charge for this restaurant, I'll skip the deduction of stars for the lag of service and cleanliness issue but I do recommend the place to be clean as it's an eye sore for the amount of dust at the counter. Food and price is a definite 5 stars.
Solid thai food at a affordable price, though I must say that nobody is spared from ‘shrinkflation’. Food portion is very very small now.
The taste is still good, don’t get me wrong, still worth the solid 4 stars ⭐️. Shrinkflation or not, there will always be a queue here near meal times, prepared to wait 15-20 mins. Depending on the diners, most will just leave once they finished their food. Good thing is that they let you order while in the queue so you get your food pretty quickly once you are seated.
All side dishes are at $6, rice was $1, red tea was $3
Really affordable place for good Thai food! We order the deep fried squid with Thai chilli! The was tad bit but chewy but the taste was good. Highly recommend the black olive fried rice as it was full of flavour! Tom yum soup was just the right amount of spice and sourness. The Kai lan with mushroom was a bit bitter but the sauce was really tasty! Will come back to tried other dishes!
Pineapple fried rice, mango salad, and clear tom yam seafood are all still excellent! Mango sticky rice portion might have shrunk a bit. The mango seemed smaller than usual.
First time at this branch and there was still a queue at 2pm. Ordered more dishes which were overall very good and authentic. Standouts were the tom yum gong which was super spicy, garlic pork, glass noodles and pineapple rice. Same prices as the AMK branch so very reasonable. Will come again.
Changed our choice of location to makan breakfast/lunch for at least 3 times before we decided on Nakhon Kitchen.
✨ Pineapple Fried Rice
Wow, this is so tasty!!! Could have finished this on my own.
✨ Stir-fried Kai Lan with Mushroom
We loved this as well. Mixed some zhup with fried rice, even more shiok 😍😍😍.
✨ Lime Squid
Very 开胃, squid not too rubbery and nice to chew on. Abit of heat though if you are not much of a spice eater like myself.
✨ Claypot vermicelli (tang-hoon) with prawns
So far, all the dishes we ordered is a hit. This is no exception. Will suggest letting it sit for awhile and soak up all the flavor before one dive in to enjoy it.
✨ Khai Jiao (Thai-Style Omelette)
Needles to say, this is my personal fav 💜💜💜.
No wonder, this place has snaking queue and is always packed. Can say with certainty we will be back to try other dishes
Tasty food.
Cheap as compared to other thai restaurants.
Best in quality & quantity.
Very good I love the clam dish and fish maw soup so much will be coming back for more. The queue was abit long but the staff took our order while waiting and after we sat we didn't have to wait long. I felt that the staff was very attentive we ordered alot and they help us join another table so we can eat better. Deduct one star because I just wish the portion for the lemon chicken can be more! I feel that the portion is not alot for 10 plus dollars. (see photos) But all in all authentic taste very good!
Nice thai food,
lala beehoon 👍😋😍
I have always loved Nakhon kitchen for their low prices and tasty food. But the food quality and service was getting from good to bad recently at this outlet. The rice was too soft, and the pork basil was really mediocre, lacking in salt and other seasonings. To make it worse, the staff were not attentive, as I was waiting for quite a while for my takeaway. The food was just left there at the counter while the staff were just busy chatting away with each other. This is during lunch hour too. Hopefully they can do better because they used to be my favorite.
Been living next to Compass One for a whole year & always walked past this restaurant. Was really craving Thai & decided to give this a go. No regrets at all, food was great and reasonably portioned and priced. Service was great. Will be back anytime I can!
Food is not bad. Tasty but the pad thai and olive fried rice are a bit too oily. Price is really reasonable. Queue to the restaurant is always long even when I went there on a weekday at 11.30 am.
Great Thai Cuisine at affordable prices. Nakhon Kitchen (Yishun) whips out great Thai cuisine with its awesome green curry chicken, Basil minced meat and fried fish. All cooked Thai style and served by attentive staff, it's exceptional service makes up for any flaws in its food.
However, I would not recommend having the Tapioca with Coconut Milk, served with chunks of Tapioca (seemingly microwaved) and the Mango Sticky Rice, with a rice that does not contain coconut milk. As such, the Mango Sticky rice, despite being an iconic dessert in Thai cuisine, falls short in expectations as it tasted and felt bland and came cling wrapped (microwaved as well).
Nonetheless the restaurant remains one of the great places to have Thai food, just without its dessert.
Nakhon Kitchen has always been about value for money thai food so nothing to complain on that. First time ordering their thai style pork knuckles and was pleasantly surprised that they were served deboned which really made it convenient for diners. With the right degree of crispiness on the outside and the right ratio of meat/fat, will order this again when i visit 😋 One of our drinking glass wasn't cleaned thoroughly so my friend ended up deciding to drink from the bottle instead so something to improve on.
Well, in the current situation I guess this is pretty close to going to Goldenmile Complex or Bangkok but it is right here in the heart of Sengkang. Ambiance is ok, you get to listen to Thai pop music playing in the background and the waitresses speaks Thai. Amid the pandemic, cleanliness is up to expectations. Food wise the tomyam soup is quite tasty. Not those you get at your tomyam ban mian stall but rich in flavor kind of tomyam. The best part is it only cost $6 with no tax or service charge. The fried rice and phadthai are also prices at $6 each while portion is slightly lesser. Overall a good place to get your Thai cravings fixed with aircon and no service or tax.
Went on 745pm on sunday. Waited abt 15mins for a table and another 10mins for food. Many items were sold out. Tomyum soup with prawns, prawns were not fresh at all. Basil pork, minced pork had a stale smell when eaten. Standards a far cry from previously
The pork knuckles was treated proper, real crisp on skin while meat are soft and easy to chew. Egg chai Poh omelette never fails in its taste.
3.5 to 4 stars. A place that have some not bad thai food. Limited sits and queue is estimated 30 mins after 6pm. Food is generally ok although cannot compare to those extremely good stalls / restaurants in Thailand.
Food was nice. We liked most of the dishes that we ordered. Loved the Tom Yum soup and crispy Pork Knuckle especially.
Affordable and authentic Thai cusine. Long queue but worth the wait
Yesterday I accidentally dropped my airpod on the floor, and their staff crew found and helped me to keep it! ❤️❤️❤️ Very thankful for your team! Their food is nice and some more the price is very reasonable! Will definitely come back again!
great food. Love the sourness. Always long q, number of seating not many. Better to come during off peak. I'm not good w spicy food, but nakhon food so good I had to eat. Will visit again w friends who can eat spicy.
To avoid crowds during lunch time, better to step in after 1pm. Most favourite dishes were grouper fish dishes such as mango salad with deep fried fish. No service charge.
Food was great and reasonable prices.. Was too excited about the food and forgot to take photos... Lol
Yummy food and cheap . Small portion start with $6 .Worth the q . Must try.
Good vibe and good food. Some dishes are bit too spicy and music is too loud for an conversation.
Overall a good place for some good food.
Great for the recent chilly weather! :) Tom yum soup and pineapple fried rice very close to those in BKK!! Authentic Thai food 😘
food is nice but why queeue so long bruh can make more tables so got lesser queeue or smth
Food price very reasonable worth trying expect to queue for a table especially during dinner time
Worth a try, reasonably price! The crispy pork knuckles is a must try for meat lovers! Authentic Thai Taste!
I used to visit Nakhon Kitchen in Yishun. I can enjoy always great Thai food. It seems that every Nakhon Kitchen are same system and same service with good flavour. They are open at noon exactly.
Reasonably priced.
Broken plates and bowls maybe they can change that.
Taste authentic
Nice selection of Thai Food and ample space during off peak hours. Pretty crowded most of the time. Would prefer the food less salty, though it still delicious 😋
Delicious Thai cuisine (pig trotter, steam squid, pineapple rice at an affordable price. No GST & SC.
However, portions had shrunk and the Tom Kha Goong (chicken) needed refinement to a better mixture of Tom Yam & coconut milk as it's currently too much coconut milk added.
Be prepared to queue at least 20 mins during lunch & dinner hour. No reservation available
Foods were okay but the music was too loud n noisy, if u talk nobody can hear u n u have to scream at the top of your voice
Authentic Thai food comes with affordable price.
Delicious food with good service, worth the price.
Food is pretty affordable, Crayfish dish was $16 for 8 halves. Love their pineapple fried rice!
Yummy & affordable Thai food, still as gd
Thai food.. 2 years no makan Nakhon d.. Yum yum 😋😋😋
tom yam tang hoon - rich & spicy tom yam taste. affordable price without gst and service charge
amazing food, love the staff, overall mega great experience, would definitely recommend 10/10
Lovely service recovery from the team!! We found a foreign object item in one of our dishes and they comp the item for us.
Everything else was great! Will definitely visit again
$6-8 dishes affordable and yummy Thai food! Best to go on weekday lunches when the crowd is not so heavy.
Quick service, nice & affordable food. Food is authentic. Thumbs up!
Great place for relatively authentic and affordable Thai food. Get glass bottle drinks just like in Thailand!
If you like fastfood restaurany loud music, then this is a place for you. Beware of queue during peak hours.
This is undoubtedly one of the best thai restaurant around in Singapore. This place is spacious so it is good for large family meals here The staff are attentive and courteous. The food is absolutely fabulous and the must try dishes are basil pork rice, tom yum clear soup, pineapple rice, honey chicken and many more.
Located just beside the main road of amk ave 10. When you are looking for an authentic Thai cuisine, this is another choice to go for. Reason price, wide selection and nice desserts for everyone would enjoy. Usually you will have to queue for awhile to be seated.
Very reasonably priced food with authentic thai flavours. Waiting time is approximately 20-30mins during non-peak hours. Prepare to wait even longer during peak hours. >30mins at least.
Some of the food here is even cheaper than the Thai stall at Kopitiam. And not by a few cents but by 20% for the same type of food. The best thing is it tastes even better.
Very organised system and little to no waiting time when you're seated down - they will take your orders before it's your turn to enter the store and serve your food piping hot.
Delicious Thai food! Expect a crowd though. Staff are helpful, though the place isn't wheelchair friendly (but not impossible). Last order around 15minutes before closing time. Place will close for a break between 3-5.30pm.
Great place to have Thai food. Not to Thailand level, but close. The price is good, so the place has a long queue, especially most of the neighbours and me come here during the weekends. Come early and get a seat faster.
High quality Thai food. The constant queue does all the talking. If you have a little extra cash to spare(it is a bit more pricey), this is a good spot for dinner. It's original branch is in Bangkok Thailand and they opened another one here in Singapore, you do the math.
one of the best thai food i can find in singapore. taste are as good as you can find in thailand. piping hot food and great taste and consistencies. best eaten at the shop.
however, it is very crowded so takeaway is a better choice for those people with time constrain. can call the number here to make order.
Simple home cooked Thai cuisine. The price is slightly higher but the flavours are pretty good. Queues begin even before they open, so come early to get a table!
Reasonably priced, great place to have a meal with friends. Some food items can be quite spicy, so request for less spicy if can't take too spicy.
Thai milk tea at 2 dollars, where to find
Great food with friendly pricing.
Went there around 12:00+ during Saturday, luckily still have seats. Affordable price and large potion of main dishes.
Authentic thai food at a good price. Tom yum soup is good, misleadingly clear, but packing quite a potent spicy kick. Som Tam (papaya salad) was average, needing a little more crushed peanuts to lift it to the next level, but still better than some chain restaurants which purport to be selling thai food. Very good value for money.
Good food, worth the wait but prices slightly on the higher side though!
But quality and taste of the food items were real Thai style and will surely recommend the restaurant for Thai food in Singapore.
Food is amazing and affordable. Just 1 of the staff ruined the dinner while we were having a break from our heavy dinner, she started getting the plates even though we haven't finish eating, quite impolite.
Delicious and affordable Thai food! Mind the queues in the evening, but the afternoon crowd is OK. Cash terms only. Sitting is limited, so be prepared to wait!
The last time I ate Nakhon Thai was at Hougang a year back. Remember it was really delicious.
This Nakhon Thai serves really salty dishes. My tomyum soup and kailan mushroom were both too salty.
Not bad :3 so many people in there
Love it! Previously we love visiting the one at hougang. and we felt so glad they open one at sengkang compass one. The waiting is now less torturous and the food standard is same as the one as hougang - very delicious and value for money. Same for the one at vivo.
Good and cheap Thai food. Very long queues during peak hour though.
Music is too loud. Not a great dining experience
The business is very good, the food is average, and the attitude of the clerk seems like he is unwilling to work there.
