Reviews of New Nanyang 新南洋 (Hillv2)
When we dined at Jiak (a few shops away) previously, we saw this cafe and so we decided to check it out this evening.
Everything about this place is average. The ambience was so so. The service staff looked tired and we're simply going through the motions. More importantly, the food was quite meh. The curry noodle was not tasty, and the curry was not as hot as it should be. The Yong Tao Foo soup was bland. I think they can do better, given how competitive the F&B scene is.
Cutlet chicken not bad, good portion of eggs and chicken. Chicken rice not recommended. Too pricey.
Yong tau foo had lots of meat stuffed in there but some fell off. Still, it was not bad with the brown sauce. Looks more like the hakka style
Their Kaya Butter toast and Peanut toast has generous amount of feeling inside and it taste wonderful. Pricing of the toast was not expensive as well as it is very affordable.
Breakfast is amazing, Nasi lemak with crispy chicken is so crispy and the coconut rice is so flavourful. With their ice milo, delicious.
QR ordering system was fast and easy but sharing a bill probably gets more difficult. However the service staff Mr shine helped split our bill into 3 for us to share. Good service even though there was a queue behind us
Had lunch here yesterday and their service was great. Their crispy chicken chop was crispy and tasty, With their coffee it's a very good pair.
Curry chicken was great! Easy ordering system but the weekend queue for lunch and dinner is not something you want to be a part of. Better to come on weekdays off peak.
Pasta was good. Nice touch with a soft boil egg on top of the creamy carbonara but the AC was down when i went. Staff said it was the landlord issue. The whole mall seems to have this AC issue as I was in other restaurants and the ACs were always down or leaking
Had a great experience here with my family. We shared a hee peow soup with their laksa yong tau foo. Very decent standard according to my mum. We will be back to try the chicken chop which quite a few were eating
Have their nasi lemak with chicken wings. Chicken wings is crispy and tender, rice is fluffy. first time trying, a pleasant experience.
Staff is very helpful as always. It's a chilled place. HillV2 is a convenient for most residents yet expensive space for vendors so to have an additional affordable option is always a good thing!
Maybe try not setting your expectations too high or order the safest meal choice 😊
Don't compare them to the nearby restaurants. If you want to give this place a try, go with a open mind 🤗
Very crowded on weekends. Weekdays are better but still theres a wait of about
10minutes. If not for the curry chicken and dry ban mian my boyfriend absolutely raves about, i would have gone elsewhere. Grass jelly dessert was ok.
Ordered their yong tau foo with lots of ingredients. Price was okay, but the taste is amazing very hearty soup and it's cooked to perfection.
I'm a regular here and i always have my coffee with toast here at least once a week. They also gave me a takeaway QR code to scan so I could order and pay in advance and beat the queue, especially on weekends
Yong tau foo was yummy. They packed the meat in there by hand but some came off because some pieces were deep fried. complemented with the laksa soup on it.
Free wifi was a plus. Carbonara slayed, like seriously, after a hard day of studying. Weekends are very busy but weekdays are perfect for studying. Iced coffee was yum. And I collected my SHOPPEE parcel here too.
My parents recommended the handmade yong tao foo and I had the dry ban mian with a nice onsen egg. Both were not bad. Chrysantheum gogi berry was healthy not too sweet
very pleasant, spacious environment with table service and quality local food options. Sambal stingray set was delicious. It came with a banana leaf on a hotplate. Haven’t had this in a longgg time. Good job for bringing it back and keeping this alive. Other dishes came with nonya chap chye
Nasi lemak with chicken wings is not that bad. Main spotlight was their kaya butter toast, one of the best besides yakun.
Cinnamon toast was a little burnt but tasted all right. Pork chops are tender and the HEE PEOW SOUP is my absolute CNY flavourite for me. Light tasting and reminds me of my grandma.
Overall decent place for meal but food was average even though there’s variety. Reasonable price around the area.
Coffee is good and thick and food quality is good. Tao suan is not bad too.
Good and fast service. Food very decent. Price so-so. Overall good value for money. Environment nice and spacious.
Great local vibes with relatively affordable food. The nasi lemak rempah was simply delicious and Hainan poached chicken was light.
Have tried many braised tofu, this place offers the best braised tofu with pork. Delicious and succulent, highly recommended
Curry noodle was delicious!, but main spotlight was their drinks coffee and tea is so good!
The food is affordable, generous, and served quickly. The laksa features three big prawns on a hot plate at quick service, with a homemade yong tau fu flavor. The dry ban mian is tasty, and Hee peow soup adds a homely feel for add-ons. The coffee is strong and aromatic. Takeaway is also fast and quick.
bunny was prompt and polite and resolved my confusion over the toast menu. Its an easy process to order by QR
Atmosphere : 10/10
It is very comfy and nostalgic the moment u come in
Service : 10/10
The service here is fast and they serve you with a smile
Food : 10/10
No jokes but the asam fish head is soo good !! I mean i can eat with two bowl of rice 😅 ! Not just ! Usually i go kopitiam 2pm i cant have my kaya bread but here , i can eat anytime as long as im there ! Shiokkk
the beef rendang was too watery, dissapointing for its price. however i loved the kopi! would def come back for drinks and the atmosphere!
System has improved since I last came, the wait is much faster now. Their coffee is amazing, pairs great with their western food.
Lots of different food available. I came here and got toast and coffee. The toast was nicely toasted, and the strong coffee enhanced the taste. Will come back again.
food was good and I enjoyed the coffee a lot. staff was friendly and food came quickly :) will come again next time. recommended to everyone!
Delectable dishes, and nice coffee. I love the taste of their kaya toast. I'll definitely visit again for breakfast!
New Nanyang has one of the best coffees in Singapore, flavorful at an appropriate price point. I can definitely see myself coming here more often.
The coffee is the best i ever drank, the richness of the coffee is amazing
the amount of food they have on the menu is insane not just for lunch but also for dinner
its a go-to place to eat
And also their service is great!!
Not a fan of coffee, but after taste their coffee, will only drink their coffee.
Saw alot of food choices for their lunch and dinner.. will come back again soon, tomorrow 🤔
Large variety of food for dinner. Came here with my family and was very surprised by the delicious taste and the strong nice coffee.
Came here as I heard they had nice coffee, and I'm impressed. This place will definitely become a morning staple for me.
The place slaps of retro vintage vibes and old school food like dry ban mian.
I always look forward to trying something new from the dinner menu at New Nanyang. The chef's specials are always a hit.
Food is great but the payment is bizarre. Waited sometime for payment.
Food very good andd very fast served highly recommended also got very friendly staff
