Reviews of Niningashi
LIFE CHANGING SABA! We bought 3… cause its just that good. Amazing staff, always waiting around incase you need something. Even better christmas songs playing.
The food was gone in less than 5mins.
“Overall decent. Sashimi is fresh but ex,” said my bff. He also thought that the salmon was just salmon (we ordered 5 kinds of sashimi for 2 pax), and could have been more worthy if replaced with swordfish. Or some other interesting fish that’s not just salmon.
I always liked an izakaya with Japs. Their presence is a stamp of approval for the izakaya. My fav was the skewers, and perhaps we should have gone to their other outlet which was said to have a more extensive skewers menu. The seasonal oden was homely (I had wanted soup) but they could be easily regarded as overpriced fish cakes. Agedashi and eihire were pretty commonplace.
Quality seafood and sashimi! Came back second time for the sashimi as i remembered that it was so fresh. Ehire and kani miso is a must-have here. Tried the pork skewers and was blown away at how tasty and juicy it was. didn’t expect that from them as they seem to be specialising in seafood sashimi. Legit almost everything they have on the menu is fantastic. Can add up to quite a hefty cost but it’s worth every cent.
Niningashi is just as good as the reviews say it is, and it has my 5 stars. They have a wide selection of sake, and a variety of food which didn’t disappoint. Prices were all really reasonable in my opinion. Sashimi was really fresh. Grilled fish was so juicy and tasty. Chicken namban is a must order. Beef tartare was also one of my favourites of the night. And lastly end off your meal with their mochi ice cream. Food came swiftly and they have many staff to attend to you. The staff were all really knowledgeable and most importantly, provided fantastic service. This place would definitely be my new izakaya joint. Do make a booking as they get pretty packed on weekend nights!
I have walked past this izakaya often but have never eaten there. So when a friend asked me out yesterday for dinner at Tanjong Pagar, I decided to check this one out! Must say that it was a good choice!
Reservation is definitely needed as the place is quite popular. Just drop them a Facebook message with your dine in time, date, name and mobile. I got a reply early the next morning after texting them late at night.
All the food items we ordered were delicious, the sashimi was also very fresh. More importantly, very good and brisk service, with attentive servers who cleared the plates and topped up our water glasses very efficiently.
We had a very good experience at Niningashi and will definitely be back!
What an excellent Izakaya that will instantly make you reminisce of Japan. It’s a hustle and bustle place and bookings are essential for peak hour dining. A full range of Japanese dishes is available as well as alcoholic beverages. The sale options are exceptional. Service staff are attentive and the owner-operator is friendly and ready to strike up a conversation if you are keen to engage him. A must try!
Most authentic Izakaya in Singapore! So many yummy options to chose from at reasonable prices! Don’t miss the olive picked oysters, mixed sashimi, ochazuke, grilled onigiri and deep fried whole shrimps which go perfectly with their drinks. Not forgetting the alcohol buffet which is at $30 for 60min and $40 for 90min. My husband and I will be back for sure!
Niningashi can be considered a ‘real’ Japanese Izakaya in Singapore. Beside the classic Izakaya dishes, easy to share, they have some real unique delights in very good quality! Huge Sake selection and Asahi Dry from the tap. Great attentive service!! Nothing missed here. Try their specialties but be aware that quality has its price.
Been a regular patron for a while, absolutely mind-blowing delicious food. Authentic Japanese atmosphere, ingredients are super fresh.
Can't recommend this place enough, I've already referred all my friends here and they all love it!
Picture is their chicken nanban don, my all time favorite!
Google recommended this joint when I was searching for good izakayas. I had dinner and drinks here with a friend and the offerings are diverse. We had a small bottle of sake to share, with Wagyu yukke, ankimo, grilled mentaiko and sashimi platter to start with.
The environment was pleasant and not overly noisy. The establishment isn't as chichi or exclusive like some izakayas in Singapore, so we were very comfortable catching up over drinks and dinner.
Towards the end, we added on grilled dried fish which was juicy and flavourful and kimchi pancakes which we wouldn't bother ordering again.
Would I return? Within a heartbeat. Dishes and drinks were reasonably priced and delicious.
Highly recommend to reserve before dining in.
Chances upon this restaurant when we were at the vicinity. Was blown off by the freshness of the sashimi and the taste of other dishes.
Highly recommended if you are looking for some good Izakaya
Having tried many izakayas around Singapore, I can say that Niningashi has provided an amazing surprise with the quality they’ve offered in terms of food, service and ambience when I chanced upon it yesterday.
The sashimi was very fresh, the yakitori (especially the butabara) was incredibly tender and the portions were reasonably sized. The servers were attentive, and constantly came to refill our ice waters despite us being sat outside. We also enjoyed the waitress’s kind gesture of pouring us an extra glass of sake when she noticed that there wasn’t much left in the bottle!
The price point is similar to other popular izakayas in the area (total ~$170 for 2, including the alcohol and the sashimi platter), but the quality of food and the service meant it was definitely worth the price. For that price, we ordered the Eihire set, 2 pax sashimi platter, half himono hokke, 2x butabara, chicken yakitori, tsukune chicken and ikura onigiri, along with 2x 230ml sakes (which were poured into these cute serving bowls).
Although they don’t offer fancy fusion foods like other establishments, they do the basics incredibly well and not many can match up to that. Definitely at the top of my list for now! Highly recommend 👍
Quite pricey but worth every cent - fresh food with a great sake selection!
Good place for family or colleagues as they serve a variety of food ( raw, steamed, grilled, panfried, noodle or rice item, meat & seafood). Operating from Monday to Saturday : 12pm - 230pm (Lunch except Saturday) ; 6pm -11pm ( Dinner). Good variety of sake to choose from. Reservation eequired as they are pretty packed most of the time
Came here for lunch. The sashimi here is one of the freshest in town, for its price range!
The bluefin tuna range (ootoro, chuutoro and akami) is out of the world, flavourful and melts in the mouth. * pro tip: make sure you top up for fresh wasabi
They have the widest selection of sake, with an extensive list of seasonal sake as well. They’re directly important from Japan, and reasonably priced.
Yakitori is amazing, momo and butabara were tender and juicy.
One of the best in its price category.
Will definitely come back!
Food was good, sashimi is fresh, staff are friendly. Tables were alittle too close to each other for comfort but will still be back for the food
Cosy Japanese restaurant setting. There are Japanese customers here too, you know it's good.
Usually, here for the lunch menu, they serve thick sushimi cuts on rice, aka salmon don... whatever fish don. You can even choose the amount of rice that helps cut down on wastage. Very affordable pricing for the servings.
Felt like I was in Japan because of the service, quality of food, and overall ambiance.
Food: everything tasted great! Even the maguro tasted like chu toro.
Drinks: also unlimited drinking option for 40++
Service: japanese level service and was friendly
Plenty good for izakaya food! I love the atmosphere. Service was friendly and fast. I'd say the menu is priced competitively — you're not going to get real izakaya prices here in Singapore, what with the food and rental costs.
Their smoked cheese dish is HEAVENLY. I could have ordered it again and again. (In fact, I did, when I visited their sister outlet next door!)
Ankimo was fresh and the balance of ponzu and negi was great.
Their liver dishes were delicious too. Highly recommend.
Overall, Niningashi is a great place to hang out with friends!
I had this lunch and was great.
One of my best luck ever.
Serving time is good, staffs are nice.
Free teas and meals are nice.
Highly recommended!
I need here for drinking at night but forgot about details. Haha.
Great place to go for izakaya type cuisine with seasonal promotions. Reservations recommended. Call ahead to check for promotions. We came for the $39.90 tuna cross-section promo but they had totally run out! Nonetheless, we enjoyed our otoro, the chicken nanban (good mayo sauce and the fried chicken didn't feel oily), the grilled stingray fins were the best my partner had tasted (not too hard, and just the right sweetness). The grilled fish was salty on the outside, so if you don't like salt, you may want them to go light on the sauce, though the inside was tender and juicy. The sparkling sake was also a pleasant drink! $150 for 2 pax.
Simple, clean, and quality Japanese food. One of the best places to go if you're craving legit maguro sashimi like in Japan
Super highly recommended
All food superb yummy and delicious,
Service are awesome too
I like sashimi, pork belly skewers and urchin 😋😋😋
Wide selection of sake. Sashimi is fresh and other food eg yakitori and chicken nanban taste great!
Always look for a place that serve nice dinner along with ice cold beer🥳😳 Sashimi is very fresh! Chicken Nanban set come with generous portion and great taste.. Highly recommended🥰
Went here because the place was recommended by a friend. Food was fresh and tasty if a little pricey, but that was expected given the location.
Super fresh sashimi. Chicken nanban and skewers were good too. Exceptional service from the staff as well.
Definitely worth stopping by to check out the grilled fish which is their signature dish. They season and grill it to a level of perfection not seen in many other izakayas. They also used to have a free flow alcohol promo, but that got canned after one too many drunk incidents - although I do hope it comes back again someday!
Good food priced competively
Wonderful service staff as well
It gets rather noisy in the restaurant though...
Fresh sashimi. Small portion for the corns.
Affordable Japanese Izakaya with friendly service. This place is usually always busy so booking in advance is suggested.
There really is such a thing as too much sashimi. Try their grilled hokke (fish). Good selection of alcohol as well. Book in advance.
Fell in love at the first visit. They have tons selection of sake! One of my favourite sake is Hou-oubiden Junmai Ginjo (Tochigi) warm.
They have good food too. Great izakaya! Reservation is a must.
Izakaya with good selection of sashimi and small dishes to share. All you can drink option available as well.
I came for the sushi but stayed for the sake. Food still remains as good, though very pricey.
Nice food, nice atmosphere. Service was also good ;)
Very nice izakaya feel here, and traditional Japanese food.
The best of casual Japanese dining in Singapore
Food were generally good. The sashimi platter was fresh and delicious. The assorted himono were perfectly grilled. Service was good and prompt. Do make a reservation before your visit as place is often packed.
You can enjoy Authentic Japanese foods and sake. Little bit expensive but worth it.
One of my favorite izakayas in Singapore. Been here multiple times. Staff is friendly. Japanese boss is friendly and very knowledgeable about sake. Very minimal mark up on drink prices. Food is hearty and delicious. Really can't ask for more.
Amazing sashimi! One of the best I’ve had!
Felt like I was back in Japan. Excellent grilled fish and sashimi. Great izakaya-style Japanese small plates. Good prices. And the service was tremendous! Food comes out fast and in the order you want it to, everything is as it should be. Highly recommended.
I will like to give a thumb up for Hui min .. she was very kind to offer me seat at ground floor instead of 2nd level as my old parents was with me. When I make the reservation for 3 pax and was mentioned to me if 2nd level is OK.. I didn't realise there are 2nd level seating too.. as its a Friday evening... I m OK as long there is a table for us.. but she is very helpful go for extra mile to check for me to let us have the ground floor seating. Definitely is a gem staff for the restaurant.
Thank you for your kind offer 🙏 I am appreciated.
Thank you from Jessie
Always good. Nice environment and wide selection of sake.
Great variety of sake and drinks. Ordered sashimi and hotpot - both were great.
A little rowdy in case u were looking for quiet.
Photo looks much better than the actual food
are you a fan of Japanese cuisine and sake like mi ? 😋
enjoy my meal here . excellent-efficient-friendly service and food is good . a wide selection of food and sake menu to curb your cravings that will not disappoint hehe 🤤🤤
great team effort . Ganbette 💪🏻🙋♀️
Another nice Japanese restaurant in Tanjong Pagar. Lively place, really good quity sashimi plate at great value. Defenitely worth a try
Affordable meals, awesome grilled fish that is just as authentic as those in Japan. Nothing to pick on.
Excellent little Japanese eatery. We keep coming back every time we're in town:)
Good food. Good service. They even have a $30 drink all you can for 60mins menu!
Super VFM lunch sets. Filled and full to the brim
Super fresh sashimi and great selection of sake
Always my fave place for good sake
Always full house, reservation recommended.
Food is fresh and value for money. Will come again
Great skewers n grilled fish.
Just a good place for its price.
Fantastic food and ambience.
Bit expensive..
This was my first time here♪
I had heard about it from a Japanese friend two years ago, but I'd completely forgotten about it. I happened to see a post on Instagram about how impressed I was with the lunch, so I made a reservation right away and went with my husband❗️Arrived at 1pm.
I've included photos of all the menu items, but I ordered the "Weekly Lunch Special" on the first page. It was fresh and filling at $23++‼️
"That's cheap❗️Delicious❗️"
My husband was disappointed that the main dish of the warm egg and eel chirashi bowl was out of eel and replaced with negitoro, and the pork meatballs with grated ponzu sauce were replaced with chicken meatballs, but I love both, so I was happy🥰
(If you want to eat eel, go early!)
The menu is so extensive and exciting😍
Next time, I'd like to visit at night.
It was worth taking the bus🚌 and train🚃 in the heat😭💓
It seems that many people come here for the alcohol.
There are many alcoholic drinks and all-you-can-drink activities.
I come here for the food!
I really like their sashimi + skewers.
The sashimi is fresh and the skewers are well seasoned. I highly recommend it!
The price of the food is in the middle of the izakaya.
Not the cheapest, but worth coming 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
A shop full of smiling faces between customers and the owner couple.
