Reviews of Rumah Makan Minang - Our Tampines Hub
I ordered Nasi Padang while my partner order Indomie...as well as black and white coffee...the food are delicious and coffee is very good for a late lunch! Especially if u woke up late! Price and little high but I think still justify based on taste and in air con area in a shop of its own. Will come back again!
My rate is 4.2/5, 1 of the better Nasi Padang/Campur shop in Singapore.
Pros : What I like the most is the foods are not overly seasoned - not too much salt & not sweet, like many Malay Nasi Campur shop u find all over Singapore, they seasoned their dishes to perfection and even the sambal has slight sweetness to taste but not sweet. Also you can feel they used quality and very fresh ingredients and you can taste the rempah in their dishes, especially lodeh gravy, you can taste everything in the rempah. For such quality and higher quality than coffee shop/hawker stalls, I feel the price is justified, u paid about $2+ extra for the set meals, compared to hawker stalls, and for the ayam goreng set meal for $9 with quarter fried chicken with other dishes in the set, I feel is affordable as you pay same at hawkers, even nasi ayam penyet with quarter chicken is the same $9 at malls and they don't even have other dishes in it.
Cons : What I dislike or think they can further improved on is :
The ikan lemak chilli padi - the sauce packs a punch and very flavourful, but let down by the fish that is a little fishy, they could remedy by half fry the fish first before putting in the lemak gravy and ikan lemak cili padi usually is with fried fish and taste better with fried fish, fish that cook in gravy is called ikan gulai.
Lodeh - I feel this is a standout dish - best lodeh rempah I've tasted, u can taste each flavours of the ingredients that has been balanced well, but this lodeh seriously needs a little more coconut milk, not lemak enough.
Overall nice first time experience trying Minang Nasi Padang, I've heard a lot of rave about this shop. Is this the best nasi padang I've had? Nope. But this is definitely 1 of the better Nasi Padang/Campur in Singapore that is seasoned well and not overly salty or sweet.
This simple cafe at the Tampines Hub offers good Nasi Padang, together with home made desserts with a good cup of brewed teh Tarek. Reasonably priced, the cafe is nestled on the basement of Tampines hub. It can get crowded during the lunch crowd, so to not disappoint yourself, avoid the lunch crowd. It’s a fulfilling and satisfying meal altogether. Enjoy !!
Lunch with my elderly folks at Rumah Makan Minang Tampines which is well hidden at the corner basement of Tampines hub ..my mum enjoys anything sambal or lemak so this is the best place ..
good range of Nasi Padang dishes .. chicken was tad dry , fish was expensive for a small portion, the rest of my order was delicious especially the lemak nangka which I only get to eat fr such stalls .. overall worth the try and service was good..
This is very good nasi padang! I had sambal goreng, spinach, and ayam mesak merah. Chicken was really juicy and the gravy was just the right amount of sweet and savoury. A generous amount of chilli was given when asked. And it hit the spot. Just wish they served sambal chilli too. Teh halia was amazing too! It's a cozy little spot tucked away at a little corner of the B1 of Tampines Hub. Quite a lot of people patronizing, and deservingly so. Thumbs up!
11am on a Saturday morning in Tampines Hub & the beef rendang my husband ordered as he was looking forward to, was hard. He tried hard to eat it & left half of uneaten. Informed the staff who didn’t know how to handle a simple feedback & brushed away and said, “ I don’t know “. Understandably, it’s supplied from a central kitchen. I hope you have time today to verify our feedback as for Minang’s standard, it shouldn’t be so. My husband kindly said, maybe they didn’t stir properly & my reply was, not acceptable for Minang’s standard. Hope you agree. We spent $20!
Nice authentic Minang Kabau food with a little touch of local Malay cuisine. Reasonable prices. The picture tells the story... Worth the trip.
Food was ok. Ordered the food together with drinks. I finished the food then the drinks arrived. I went at an off peak timing so it wasn't busy so service can definitely be improved.
Had patronised the stall at OTH a few times and loved the beef rendang and sambal belado. However, today 7 Aug, the food were very salty. We bought beef rendang, tapioca leaves lemak, and fish asam pedas. All were very very salty. The management should monitor the food quality as otherwise it will affect the stall's reputation.
Food tastes close to home, I can make do with the food here. When it comes to Minang restaurants, I always order chicken curry, egg, cow's lungs (Paru), eggplant and sambal. Good!
Very nice food, always crowded and is pricey. This dish alone cost me $9.50
Staff are friendly, very clean cafe and nice ambience. Food is so so and price is expensive. I want to order Nasi Rawon set (Price stated on the board $6) but was told some dishes are not available for the set (not sure what are the dishes that are not available) but I can choose want I wanted as told by the staff. I choose rice, sambal goreng, egg sambal, bagedil, paru goreng and empty rawon gravy with one soya bean drink and one teh tarik; total cost $10.30.
Ok.....
Randomly search online for Minang food was saw that Rumah has a outlet at Tampines..
When to try..
Food was good..
Price was slight high
Place was very well organized clean.
It's located at one of the corner at basement level.
I when round/circles to find them....
Overall it comparing to main branch... No difference.
Yes totally will come back..
Think the taste standard not like before. Used to think Hjh Maimunah food cannot beat the standard of Rumah makan minang. But now ive change my mind. Rumah makan minang cannot beat the standard of Hjh Maimunah..
The price at Rumah makan minang is also more expensive now compare to Hjh Maimunah.
The portion served is also lesser then Hjh Maimunah.
But again, different people have different taste buds...
Found this gem in Tampines Hub. Good Padang rice.
Deelicious. One of the top indonesian food places in Singapore. Price is reasonable compared to the quality you get.
Great dishes and long queues during lunch hr. Need to head down at 11+ to avoid crowd. But have not open since last weekend. 26/09 not sure what happened.
Best authentic padang food in Singapore from my taste. Its quite taste like the real Padang food from Sumatra
The last time I tried the beef rendang 4 days ago it was so tough I could have lost some of my teeth chewing it. Over all quite disappointing
I love this restaurant. They serve delicious food that base on minang culture...As a minang woman i am so glad that i can found all kind of delicious minang cuisine here...
Recomended...😊😊
Had always been a fan of RMM since ages 👍🏻 their rendang is favourite. highly recommended.
Bought for my Indonesian helper and she was very happy with the authentic Indonesian taste.
