Reviews of Scaled by Ah Hua Kelong
Came to this place for a birthday treat, great atmosphere & the staff provided great service - they recommended us dishes to get & checked in with us routinely.
The best dishes imo were the curry mussels (HUGE mussels) and prawn aglio olio. I'm generally not a fan of aglio olio but I'd come back for this one - it's SUPER flavourful and the prawns served were huge and the heads were full of crunchy umaminess. The Seabass puttanesca was full of foreign flavours in a good way! It was slightly tangy from the starfruit, the fish was super fresh. Actually all the seafood was super fresh, the menu indicated which ones were sourced locally & I'd recommend ordering those dishes to get the ultimate freshness experience!
Very fresh produce with good blend of flavours. Food was good but can be improved as some were a little too heavy on seasonings or could be balanced better. Would definitely try again, very reasonable pricing. Calamari was immaculate 9/10. Teriyaki Seabass 7/10 as I had too much for one
person. Grilled Seabass with pasta was excellent though the pasta was a tad lumpy.
A place in Singapore where one can find farm to table dining.
Fresh seafood cooked in Asian style like Curry Mussels, Mui Fang fish dish.
Been wanting to try this place as I’m a seafood lover and I’ve heard great things about them!
They definitely didn’t disappoint and most of the dishes we tried were very yummy. My favourite would be the curry mussels, roasted prawns and prawn Dashi Aglio Olio. The produce are farm to table and hence really fresh, especially the mussels and prawns. Though, the portions are not too big and they do recommend the no. of dishes to order based on your group size.
The service staff were friendly and prompt, they also seek our feedback at the end of the dinner on our dinning experience.
The seafood is all so fresh.
Fish is farmed locally, but I'm not sure how healthy the environment is for the fish to grow.
Curry mussels - mussels are from south korea, super fresh, first fresh mussels I had in Singapore. Comes with mantou, crispy fried
XO potato - simply addictive
Sea bass puttanesca seabass is fresh, pasta with loads of black olives and fresh sweet tomatoes
Love this place will come back again!! 🧡
SCALED: seafood place to go.9 Nov 2024 party of 5.
Wonderful friendly service & good food.
Wait staff will explain what goes into your dish each time they serve a dish.
So fresh, hot off their kitchen, everything taste WOW! After ordering more Starters/Sides, we felt almost full when we reached the Mains.
The most unique starter was the KFC(Kelong Fish Collar) also known to me as the fish wing (found in frozen section of the supermarket where there are no bones). They coat it like KFC chicken flavouring so it was realllly crispy & tasty. We all ♥️this.
Pls try this place.Value for money👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I've taken both my parents and my in laws to Scaled because I know I'll be guaranteed great food and wonderful service. Once again, did not disappoint. And I'm LOVING the new menu additions. I've talked Scaled up to all my friends and everyone has agreed with me after they've been. Great job, Scaled team!!! Can't wait to check out sliced and Madu.
Delightful dinner experience at Scaled.
We walked in without a reservation and though they were fully booked, they managed to accommodate our request for bar seats for a quick dinner.
Jay’s service was exceptional- he was friendly, very attentive, took the initiative to ask if it was our first time dining at the restaurant, recommended dishes to us, and made conversation with us affably.
The menu was interesting with a good variety of fresh from farm, seafood dishes. The food was flavorful with quality ingredients.
Definitely worth the visit
Worth the first experience with creative seafood dishes. I am delighted with their creation with seafood. The sourdough dish with fish liver paste was a too oily for my liking. The xoxo potatoes was flavorful like XO carrot cake but potatoes can be a little more moist. My friend enjoyed the curry mussels with mantou the best as it was really spiced up. Dessert I will vote for Panna Cotta to be the nicest.
It’s a small shop at the corner. The atmosphere is okay and perhaps too noisy.
We ordered quite a few stuffs, the staff will walk you through the menu and provide recommendations. What we all agree is that the starter and side dishes are nicer than the main. We love the sour dough and curry mussel so much. The main dishes like pasta and risotto are okay, quite bland for risotto.
We ended with dessert, the lavender panna cotta is lit, highly recommend. Price is decent considering all dishes are seafood.
Some of the best use and presentation of locally sourced seafood, and they take their kelong to table concept seriously. Staff is well trained, takes the effort to explain dishes and make recommendations. Food is banger. Must order their curry mussels with a carb of your choice. I think it goes super well with the triple fried XO potatoes.
I was really looking forward to meal here. It was 4.7/5 on Google Maps and I made reservations to treat my family. However, I found the meal a solid 3/5 for a few reasons:
(+) Wait staff was friendly and quick to respond.
(+) Seafood was indeed fresh.
(+) Some unique items like the black chawanmushi and nin jiom pei pa koa kombucha.
(-) Portion sizes for some mains were small.
(-) Nothing special about the cooking styles or techniques. It was like they had something really good to work with but didn’t do much with it.
(-) Major disappointments: achar (couldn’t taste the pickled part, just cut vegetables) and prawn aglio olio (no aglio olio flavour, tasted more like pasta in prawn stock).
(-) Sis also found the place loud and hard to converse over the noise
Initially we wanted to order their lavender panna cotta as dessert, but after trying the food, we decided to give desserts a pass. The food wasn’t really good, nor was it really bad. Just not memorable.
Food is above average but fell short of expectations at the price point. Prawns are huge and juicy but not sweet or flavorful. Most dishes are very try-hard but didn't deliver. Take for example the curry mussels, lack of seafood freshness and the curry is meh. Best dish is likely the Panne Cotta and the tart.
Service and dish presentation are top-notch.
Not trying to be a contrarian but it really falls short for being one of the highest rated restaurants in Singapore. Don't believe me? Just go and have a try. :)
Great food is expected, the ingredients here are freshest ever and the attention to each dish is almost like fine dinning standards!
Great service, however is rare in sg and it feel amazing here. The staff are always attentive to our needs, topping up water, introducing each element of the dish, and making sure all is good for us. Jay and his team did an amazing job!
Had our wedding anniversary here, and we brought our little cake and they even provided a cute candle!
The restaurant is a model for all f&b in sg. Looking forward go having more celebrations with great food here!
Fantastic seafood and service.
The server was attentive, took time to explain the food, change our plate and gave us alternative sauce when they don’t have the one we asked for. These gestures are much appreciated and definitely elevate the ambiance further
Seafood is also fresh and delicious, though the pasta is a little bit heavy on the olives. But overall it’s a solid place.
Loved the fresh food and great presentation. The service is super-friendly! One of the best fish food restaurants in Singapore so far!
Read of its high score and decided to give this restaurant a try.
Booked for a 5.30pm table on a weekday. Was kept waiting outside till 5.30 when they open. It is actually ok but not when the 1½hour limit starts then. By the time we get seated, visit the washroom and then back to study the menu, some time had passed. Being the first time there, we, of course, asked for recommendations and there the clock ticks along .... The young lady was very efficient and we ordered the all famous must have mussels curry and 2 special recommendations, the clam Chipotle and the assam fish with muifan and a bottle of wine to enjoy with the food.
The mussels came and indeed it was yummy. We enjoyed it. After a while, the clams came. After having the spicy mussels curry, the clams paled in comparison. The clams were also slightly overcooked and, therefore, a little chewy. When we finished our second starter, the main was served after a short wait. As i was digging in to share the main with my husband, we were asked for our last order😲. I thought our main just came and we were left with ½ hour😵😵💫. We weren't very impressed or happy with it as we have not even started with our main and still have wine to enjoy. But again, as we signed in agreement to do so, we abided. This is the disappointing part. We came quite a far distance to try this restaurant, hoping to enjoy the food. And we were kind of hurried through our dinner and out of the restaurant.
How i wish, and i hope the owner will consider a 3 hour seating option with a minimum charge for the evening. This way, we have an option or hurrying through our meal or enjoy our dinner and wine like the way good food should be enjoyed.
Oh yes, back to the assam fish. Fish was tender and perfectly cooked, and the muifun good too. But.. we had to swallow it all down quickly...😮💨
Sincerely hope the owner will offer the longer seating option...🤞
Our first visit here and it’s been a lovely experience. The staffs took time to explain the dishes prior to ordering and during serving. We enjoyed all the dishes except for the fried squids Which can be crispier. Still a handful of dishes excite us but not yet try so we’ll definitely be back!
This place has been on my to-try list for the longest time. Maybe my expectations were high but imo the taste fell short :( Service was impeccable hence the 3 stars. We ordered the Aglio olio, seafood risotto and curry mussels, as recommended by the staff. The curry mussels were not bad but not great either. Aglio olio had a strong umami taste but that’s all there was to it, I think the dish lacked a balance of flavours. On the other hand, seafood risotto was very underwhelming; it was unique how they used barley for the risotto but it tasted as though eating cooked barley from the drink. It was disappointing because it was a birthday treat and that’s what the birthday girl had. Ambience-wise, it gets pretty loud and noisy during peak hours and you’d have to raise your voice to speak. Suffice to say I’m taking this one of the list.
My family came here to celebrate Mother's day, and the food was delightful and the service was truly excellent! Would highly recommend.
Almost every dish they recommended was a hit, even the dessert which really blew us away!
Forgot to take a picture of the roasted prawns but those were absolutely delicious too!
Spectacular dinner! For the price and quality that you are getting, honestly it’s quite a bargain! I don’t know why I took us so long to finally come here and we are so glad that we did!
We loved the sheer quality of the seafood dishes here. Especially the prawn aglio olio. Also special mention to the exceptional service receivers when we found something amiss in our dish. We love you guys and will
be back! CRAVINNNGGG AGAIN SIAL
Great food and service! We tried the curry mussels, roasted prawn, shimeji fries, seafood risotto, and canto grouper and everything was so delicious. Dessert was lavender panna cotta which was superb as well. Will definitely come back again and try their other creations.
Very good food and service!
Farm to table concept. We tried the mussels in curry (very flavourful!), fried squid and some fish which was served with pickled starfruit. All very delicious. You can order some wine to go with the food. Servers will tell you more about the dish when it is served.. attentive service.
Was there on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday. Restaurant was full house and bustling. The smell of grilled seafood immediately hits you (in a good way).
Ordered the curry mussels and shimeiji fries for starters. Both are great choices. Ordered extra mantous (recommended if you love the curry gravy). The fries were well battered and crunchy.
As for the mains, would 10/10 recommend the prawn dashi aglio olio. The dashi sauce was decadent and savory, coupled with the prawns. Enjoyed the dish very much. The seabass pasta was pretty good too.
The complimentary Panna Cotta from the restaurant for the birthday celebration was a very nice touch as well.
All in all, great food with top notch service. You won't go wrong with a meal here!
I was quite delighted to chance upon this place while navigating Google Map for a new place to dine and found this. We took the chance to head to the restaurant despite being told by the restaurant it was already full on a Sunday evening. Upon reaching the restaurant, we were so pleasantly surprised that a group of customers cancelled the reservation and could accommodate us. What is even more delightful is the quality of the seafood and the attentiveness of the service. It’s a place that I definitely will come back.
If you're craving for seafood prepared with a modern twist, this is the place! The food was delicious, and the service was great! The staff took the time to explain the menu, and also explained how each dish was prepared as it was served! Special shoutout to Emily for the superb service!
Firstly, would like to say that their service is simply top notch. They really take the time to explain every single dish and even make recommendations. When it seemed like we were on the verge of over ordering, they also advised us to pace ourselves. We made a reservation for 7 but unfortunately could ultimately only arrive at 8.15. They so kindly continued to reserve our table even though it was full house on a Thursday night. Thank you guys. Now, on to the food… we managed to order a variety of starters between the 5 of us. The best starter goes to the prawns oh my god. So good that we ordered a second serving. The rest were pretty unique, never had before combi. Overall good except we felt the shimeiji mushrooms were a tad over fried. Not sure if it’s meant to be like that. The sauce it came with is bussin though. For mains, we had 2 pasta. One is a new dish that’s not on the menu. Forgot its name but it’s alright. The other one was something with prawns. Must order. Super flavorful! Ended off with 2 very good desserts. Will probably return to try the other dishes we didn’t get a chance to order.
Reviews in the google reviews are real. Haha
This place is good.
All dishes served were tasty and seafood are fresh.
Service was good too, explained every dish, top up water when cups were half full.
Will come back again, provided there’s tables. It’s full almost everyday.
Small portions for mains. Using small kids size bowls as for main course is quite a turnoff when the price is a little high. Shld use plates instead of using bowls for almost everything. There are no spare chairs for large groups. Food is mostly local sg hawker types of food and remade as fusion food. Food taste I would say , is not too bad. Coming back again? Nah...once is enough.
Went there a few days ago and it was a great dinner. We made a booking for 7pm as that's the option they had, but requested to reach at 7:15PM as we had a movie booking earlier on. We reached on 7:19PM and they graciously led us in albeit with a little tease about the 7:15PM request.
Service was excellent, but it was a tad difficult hearing the servers (or chatting with your friends/partner) due to the very echo-y design of the restaurant. The open-kitchen concept added to the noise as well though it was definitely interesting watching the chefs prepare your food (and the smell is awesome too!).
Being a great fan of seafood, I decided to try most of their side dishes instead of their mains. The only regret I have for this decision was that me and my partner's stomach wasn't able to fit ALL of the food🤣
We loved the Seabass Pate, Sambal Lala and Roasted Prawns. Their Kelong Fried Collar was glorious, and we didn't expect the collar to have so much meat. It felt more like a main dish than a side (which means it's totally worth the $). Please note that their KFC needs to be pre-ordered if you don't want to miss it out. Their curry mussels was great and the mussels were sweet. The shimeji fries however, was more hard than crispy. We added on a cider mid-meal and it was a good palette cleanser. Do give their panna cotta a try, it was the perfect end to a heavy meal as the dessert was light and refreshing!
I'll definitely be back again with a better gauge of what to order in mind.
Quite unique seafood dinner and it’s delicious! Would recommend the prawn aglio olio and the KFC! Fish was super fresh! The lala was a bit bland for us. But service was excellent and we will be back to try other food.
Finally got to try the food here and I had a wonderful dining experience. We were especially impressed with the sides (roasted tiger prawns and smoked seabass pate), both of which could be passed off as mains with the portion sizes. The prawns were tasty and super fresh, and the pate had a salty ~umami~ flavour that paired very well with the sourdough. Both dishes wouldn’t have looked out of place on the menu of an upscale restaurant! The mains (kong bah grouper and another seabass dish) were very fresh too, but I think we were very wowed by the sides!
Overall, the farm to table concept seems still seems relatively novel in Singapore… hopefully more Singaporeans will discover the wonders of locally farmed fish when they dine at places like this — freshness guaranteed 😋. Given the quality of the dishes, our meal was very affordable (~$50/person for 2 sides, 2 mains). Looking forward to coming back and trying the other dishes! Be sure to make an appointment in advance!
We were looking for a place to eat after attending a wake nearby and stumbled across this "seafood" place. Fortunate enough that a table for 2 opened up and we were welcomed in by the most friendly greeter.
Staff in general at Scaled feel like they've been trained for years in the art of exquisite yet friendly service, which cannot be the case since many of them look so young! Or perhaps it's the joy that they have in giving such great service that keep them young!
We took whatever recommendations our server gave, and had the curry mussels, XOXO potatoes, roasted Prawn and Seabass Puttanesca.
All the dishes were fantastic but I must give a shoutout to the quality of the mussels, which were the best I've ever had, feeling in my mouth like the product of an oyster and clam hooking up: full of flavor, and succulent like no mussel I'd ever had.
I only gave 4 stars for the atmosphere as it was a tad bit loud for my elderly ears, but otherwise it was a fantastic evening with great food.
(And one of the wonderful restaurants that serve water on the house!)
Curry mussels are a must try. Good service by staff. Birthday celebration made extra special with their complimentary dessert.
Came here with my partner for our anniversary and wow, Scaled definitely did not disappoint. Food was absolutely amazing, servers were attentive and fantastic (gave great recommendations, explained each dish, topped our water w/o us ever asking), and we had ample time to enjoy our dinner and space. We loved every dish — the seafood risotto and curry mussels were especially exceptional!
We were also surprised with that beautiful panna cotta for our special day, which was delicious and we’ll definitely be ordering that on our next visit there if it’s available! Thank you to the team for the wonderful experience! 👍🏻
Thumbs up for the curry mussel with man tou. A young and very forward looking local and fusion cuisine highly recommend for a try. I like the facts that they are using local produce to cook the dishes. Roasted prawns were great too. Highly recommend a try!
[$59.45/pax] Good food with attentive staff that take the time to educate you on the dishes. I feel I enjoyed the sides more than the mains.
starters:
seabass pate - 10/10. incredibly addictive, smoky and soft without being overly pasty. goes very well with the fried sourdough and the pickled radish shoot (?), which adds some much needed acidity. truly great.
grilled prawns - 8/10. Good but nothing too out of the ordinary. I'd try something else next time.
curry mussels - 7/10, good but the curry falls flat for me. its plenty spicy and salty but it could afford with being more sweet and savoury. feels like it's completely missing a dimension of flavour because of that.
mains:
pan seared seabass - 7/10, soft and delicious. the pumpkin seed brittle was a surprising hit. unfortunately the assam and lontong weren't my cup of tea.
canto grouper - 7/10. a bit rubbery for my taste, but the parsley and wine rich broth and glass noodles make up for it.
Loved the service!!! The waiters were friendly and attentive, and it really really added to the great experience we had here. I appreciated that they explained where the seafood was sourced from, and that most were from their own Kelong. The food was out of this world, so creative and well executed. Highly recommend you to go for more appetisers the first time you go for a greater tasting experience! Between the two of us, we got three starters - curry mussels, seabass pate, grilled prawns (which were my favourite!). We had the prawn dashi pasta to share, which I think was just a right amount of food and let us try all the different amazing dishes comfortably. The flavours are strong and indulgent, and went perfectly with the cranberry juice we got an accompaniment. Would rate this place 6/5 stars if I could! Definitely coming back.
Had the takeaway version of Ah Hua Kelong, delivered straight to my place. Delivery was on time, and food was very thoughtfully packed. They even had a voice note follow up to introduce the dishes to you, and to teach you how to enjoy the food. Food were all yummy, and very thoughtfully balanced. Had the grilled prawns, the pasta, risotto, and clams. Super interesting fusion spins to the usual local taste palettes.
Great food, great service. Seafood are fresh and well cooked. Flavours were great especially the curry mussels. Some other highlights are the pate, XL clams, pomfret and black grouper. Definitely will be back when i crave for some fresh seafood! :D
Easily one of the best service I had received in Singapore. Remind me of the excellent service I had received in Sydney.
Seafood was fresh. We ordered the Sake Lala which came with excellent garlic bread, roasted prawns which is just nicely done and black grouper.
Do try out the drinks too as the staff here make excellent recommendations of cocktail which is blended to your liking.
Do come here if you are in the area for a visit. I enjoyed my visit and I am very sure you will do so too.
Singapore's first farm to table dining experience. Absolutely loved it! Came here to celebrate my husband's birthday and they remembered the comment I'd left a month ago and gave us their pana cotta with lavender and blue pea dessert, on the house. They timed the dishes nicely so we didn't have to wait and the dishes were served piping hot. What we loved about them was their dedication in explaining every single dish to their customers when the food was served. They take pride in Thier business and in their local production of such fresh seafood! We had the curry mussels with Mantou (we doubled up the mantous cus they had such generous serving of curry), the grilled prawns, aglio oglio and canto grouper with sweet potato noodle in sake broth. We only didn't quite like the grouper dish as the fish was slightly too rubbery for us! Reasonably priced, considering the freshness of the seafood and the ambience of the place :')
My wife and I decided to have a lil something different to celebrate our wedding anniversary and went to Scaled by Ah Hua Kelong this afternoon. It was definitely a right decision as we were simply blown away by each dish as it arrived.
We were greeted at the door, seated and handed over to the assigned waiter and waitress without any delay. What was impressive was before we could even looked into the menu, the waiter asked if he could bring us some water first (cold or hot). Thereafter, another waitress immediately came over and asked if it was our first time at the restaurant. She waited for us to scan the menu before giving us a recommendation of what were the best sellers and the “must trys” especially for first timers and gave us time to make our selection.
We ordered the (1) Smoked Seabass Pate (which was a really good portion!), (2) Three Egg Chawanmushi, (3) Prawn Dashi Aglio Olio (this was the bomb!), and (4) Namjim Grouper.
First the service. I’ve always believed that the food will always taste better if complemented with excellent service, and this was what we got today. The same waitress served us our food as it came out. What was impressive was the attention to detail as she described each dish since it was our first time. Not just describing each ingredient, but even recommending which to start on first to get the full fulfilment out of the dish. Water was constantly refilled the moment it went anywhere below half and they always had an eye out for us while allowing us to have the privacy of enjoying the food.
Now, the food. It was clearly exceptional. The taste of the pate was so fine and refined that to spread it on the sourdough seems like an injustice, it was just so good. Dont be marred by the black ink chawanmushi, it’s taste is well complemented by the servings of the ikura and lala. As for the grouper, my wife commented “If I was overseas and I just came back to Singapore, this would be my to go dish…its so comforting and flavourful!”. Lastly, the dashi aglio olio was cooked to perfection. Crispy fried Prawn heads, flavourful pasta and fresh prawns.
Despite our fully filled tummies, we couldn’t resist when asked if we wanted desserts. We ended with a simple panna cotta which was light but absolutely refreshing.
So yes, it was a perfect lunch and we truly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you to the team @ Scaled. We’ll definitely be back again! Stay safe!
Our party of 7 were warmly greeted by the very friendly staff as we went to take our seats. ( Likewise as we left the place with FULL bellies!) We were served by Garth who was really affable! Would be good to visit this amazing place with a group of people so you get to savor most of the dishes and perhaps order second rounds cos that’s what we did!
Personally we all enjoyed the Pate which was amazingly done! (2 portions)
Roasted prawns (4 portions!) because it was that fresh and amazing! If you get seats near the kitchen you will be so lucky to get the scent of them smoking the prawns to perfection!
For individuals like myself who enjoys strong flavored dishes, MUST go for the Prawn Dashi Aglio Olio ( small spicy quite spicy) and the LGM Mee Hoon Kueh!!! Love love the robust taste of these 2 dishes!!
Overall it has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience sampling the finest of local catch alongside amazing service from the staff.
Oh! And remember do reserve your ‘KFC’ ( Kelong Fish Collar) when you make your reservations. We missed out!
-PS, photos by friends because I was TOO BUSY EATING! 🥴
This restaurant was on my wish list for a very long time and my dining experience here did not disappoint!
The Smoked seabass pate (seabass paste with accompanying sourdough bread) is an awesome starter that help to whip up an appetite for what’s to come.
Secondly the curry mussels definitely lived up to its hype, curry sauce was amazing and the mussels are so soft and fresh!
The Pan seared seabass was well cooked as well and the sauce helped to elevate its flavour. Lastly the prawn dashi aglio olio is really amazing, al dente pasta with fresh and smoky prawns
The service here is top notch. Staff took the initiative to recommend dishes right at the start, and to explain the dishes as they arrive. They were also super attentive to requests!
Overall will dine here again to try the other dishes as they look amazing as well!
Strongly advice to book in advance as though it was a Tuesday night when I dined here, restaurant was still full!
Definitely a must try if you are a seafood foodie!! Food was nicely curated in flavours of a unique Singapore’s globally exposed culture where influences of Asian and western techniques are deployed. Mouthfeels and textures were done right.
Most importantly, the seafood was fresh and not overcooked!
Was a pleasure to have experience their food. Go with more pax to enable a wider options of dish ordering options.
Here again for some seafood goodness. Love the ambience, great service as the staffs made clear explanations of each dish, learnt so much about the produce and the idea behind the dishes. The seafood are all really fresh! Love their curry mussels, seabass pasta, prawns and grouper. Would highly recommend if you are someone who likes seafood!
The staff are super friendly and the dishes are all awesome and very nicely cooked. Cannot find any faults. Quality food that needs one month advanced booking to secure a table … it is worth it 😋👍🏻

The server is very attentive, pouring water for us without our request. When we arrived, each dish was explained to us. But it's difficult for us to understand what the waitress is saying. It was too soft, and the environment was too noisy.
Curry Mussels, Smoked Seabass Pate, and Ojing-eo Gangjeong are the 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 favorite sides.
After all of the sides were served, we waited quite a while for the main courses to arrive. We waited for exactly 20 minutes. The promfret is well-fried and fresh, but some of the prawns are mushy and tough. Seabass has a bland flavor, tagliatelle is uncooked.

Very friendly staffs and good service. Always so nice we can support local produce, will go there again
If you’re even considering if you should have an experience at Scaled. Stop. JUST START MAKING YOUR WAY DOWN.
Scaled has got to be the best place to experience freshness. The KFC, curry mussels, grilled garlic prawns, and the pomfret were some of my highlights. They’re unique, tasteful, and fresh. Ok I keep saying fresh cause it’s really quite good and for someone like me who’s not really a good critic I could tell that they were fresh.
I also really love the service crew! They are simply on another level!!! They are attentive and friendly, despite the overwhelming crowd. They would also describe and explain each dish with great detail so we get to understand the dish we’re about to try.
I’ve been to scaled twice cause of how solid of an experience I had.
2nd time here and love the fresh seafood and the fusion take on it. Even my parents enjoyed the food very much. The mussels and curry, fried crispy squid, canto grouper and prawn dashi aglio olio were a great hit within my family. Service was great as well, the staff were all friendly and attentive, patiently answering all our questions and requests, as well as explaining each dish to us. Oh, the lavender osmanthus panna cotta was a lovely finishing touch to the wonderful meal. Will definitely be back!
Awesome. Super welcoming warm and friendly service crew, no its actually more like a family. Exceptional service of a very outgoing and helpful young team. The young woman took her time for us and was confident to recommend and to assist us to choose our dishes. We gladly followed and were almost speechless when we took the first bite of the seabass pate... Then another time similar experience with the curry mussels.. Flavours like from heaven, we wanted to lick out each shell, plate and bowl, not to waste any of the gorgeous sauces. Great pasta mains as well. Highly to recommend, we will definitely come back veer often. Thank you for this great experience of exceptional service and most delicious food. Biggest surprise of this year for us. There is nothing at all to suggest or to improve rather than keep everything like it is. 👏👏👏
The food is delicious, but the most remarkable thing about this place is the service. The staff is very welcoming, walk you through the menu, and pay attention to every detail - a fine dining-type of service for very well priced seafood.
The main portions are quite generous - we had the canto grouper and the chili crab risotto, two very interesting takes on traditional dishes. (If I had to pick, would definitely recommend the grouper- the broth was amazing)
As of the starter, we had the seabass paté - the paté itself is perfect, but I would have preferred less greasy sourdough to go with it, as it makes the dish too heavy before the main.
Overall, great dining experience, will visit again and try other items - the curry mussels, most likely.
Absolutely loved this place. Great value for money, delicious food and super fresh ingredients. Definitely go for the prawns and mussels! Personally I felt the pasta was okay, but the highlight was the sea bass, so I’d go for the sea bass on a stand-alone the next time! You can also top up the man tou for 2 bucks. Finally, we had the shinmeji mushrooms as a starter as well.
Overall 5/5 will come back again!
No walk-ins allowed, best to reserve a table 2 to 4 weeks in advance!
Great hospitality! They provided a detailed explanation of each dishes and their history (for first timers). Very attentive staffs who constantly check in with us and refill water for us!
Clams in sake and butter was fresh, mildly buttery and alcoholic. Garlic bread which comes along with it was cripsy and toasted! Yummy!
Kecap Manis Seabass pasta was interesting. Sauce was heavily flavoured and a wee bit salty. Fish was tender and pasta was Al dente. Shanghai greens were 10/10.
Raspberry clafoutis was my favourite. Sour yet buttery, mixed with the coconut cream. A solid 10/10. They were so nice to offer this on the house as it was a celebration!
Came to the Scaled for my wedding anniversary lunch today. The servers were outstanding in their service, very happy to serve. The food were great too, simple, clean and flavourful. And the server surprised us with a nice dessert too! Definitely will come bk here again. 👍
Puttanesca is delicious. The fish is cooked nicely with crispy skin and tender meat. The tagliatelle is al dente with very nice texture. Curry mussels is very fresh juicy, goes well with the curry sauce. Staff is attentive with details and explained every dish clearly. And the meal ends with great dessert raspberry coconut clafoutis (desserts change frequently). Dining environment is cosy and comfortable too.
Unless you are allergic to seafood, you must give this place a try. They've fully leveraged the freshness of local produce to deliver what I think is the best cooked seafood I've tried in Singapore and.. Malaysia.
The roasted prawns dish was a revelation. Every dish, it's components, and how it was prepared was explained when served.
Generous portions, amazing food with innovative fusion dishes. The triple egg chawanmushi is the best app I've had in the world - trifecta of creative, yummy and big portion size. The main dishes were so tasty too! The seabass tagliatelle was a creative spin with anchovies and sundried tomatoes, and the canto grouper came with a heap of clams as well.
Beautiful, modern interior too. Service was also excellent for a place this busy. This has definitely become my favorite restaurant in Singapore.
I only wish they had a cocktail bar as well. The other drawback is that reservations fill up pretty fast and walk-ins are limited. We were assigned bar seating walking in right at opening on Sunday.
Excellent food in a cosy setting. Very passionate servers who took the time and effort explain every single dish to us when we said it was our first time here. Locally sourced ingredients and local vendors make for a unique partnership. Shoutout to Jay for his excellent and attentive service.
Third time here and they never disappoint! Love the menu rotation and probably one of the few seafood places I actually revisit. Always get the curry mussels.
My new fav place! Fresh seafood with well-balanced flavours & unique twist. Curry mussels is a must try! Kudos to the friendly staff too. Always glad to be back ☺️
It's good vibes, though small space...due to safe distancing measures..the staffs and service is amazing and they make time to explain all the dishes in details and the plus point is their focus on sourcing local seafood..which is a bonus for me. The food was the star of the show la..so go there with an open mind and be wow'ed. The wine list could be larger but that's just us. Have fun and you won't be disappointed. Cheers to the chefs and front of house team! Good stuff...and refreshing concept which I hope should stay..to delight our palates.
Excellent flavors using local ingredients. Price not too expensive also. Wait staff are extremely polite. Even describes the dishes in detail like fine dining restaurant.
Great place to try if you wanna tantalize your tastebuds with something new and exciting
Had the barley risotto (amazing), curry mussels, the pate and the mee hoon kueh.
Great job guys!
after seeing the reviews, i went with high expectations. however, i felt the food was rather average in terms of taste. i ordered the curry mussels, squid and seabass. good service though.
With an average of 500 container ships and oil tankers in port at any one time, you could be forgiven for thinking that eating locally sourced seafood in Singapore is not a good idea. Scaled by Ah Hua Kelong dispels that thought with their delicious and delicately flavoured dishes. The lala clams in saké broth and "chili crab" risotto are particular highlights.
Since moving from Haji Lane to Jalan Besar, Scaled has lost some of it's previous cosy ambience, but is now much more spacious with more tables and is easier to book. They've also added an extensive beverage menu including a well curated wine list with many options by glass.
Seafood dishes were inventive spins on local favourites, made with beautiful fresh produce. Wait staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend.
Seafood is very fresh, especially the mussels.
Great customer service, the staff would explain the menu before serving
Their mussel is definitely going to blow you away. Sea bass pasta tastes like heaven too. Also the oh-so-good prawn. 10/10.
Very delicious. It combines Singaporean and Indian cuisine. The taste is very special and the price is reasonable.
The seafood dishes, which are farmed in our own offshore fish tank, were the best.
There is no beer or wine, so the only alcohol available is original cocktails.
I think I would have eaten more if I had had the wine.
Nice ambience and fresh fresh seafood, I loved it.
But they don’t have beer or wine...only original cocktails and it’s $23 each, taste is quite nice though.
We could order more foods if they have nice bottle of white wine!!
I checked it on Google Maps and saw that the score was relatively high, so I decided to give it a try. I didn't make a reservation at night. I was lucky. There was a multi-person table where you could share a table. The red curry was delicious...
The second floor is connected to the next door and together is a bar.
The toilet is too stuffy😂
The food is very exquisite and delicious. I will definitely come back next time
Everything is delicious and the service staff is good ❤️
