Reviews of Springleaf Taiwan Porridge
Been here in the 90s, hope I remember correctly… finally back again. Delicious dishes, quality food, taste is perfect for us, friendly service and nice ambience. Simplicity at its best.
Good Taiwan porridge. The crowd streams in endlessly at 630pm. Food is good and comforting if you are not too hungry. We had pomfret fish and bean sprouts, chai Poh egg and hot plate tofu.
The food is absolutely authentic, the very things that we eat with porridge... the stalls that we visit in the wee hours of the morning.
I love the chye poh omellete, the sweet potatoe in the porridge, the mui choy (without the pork) , beansprouts, the asparagus with mushroom, the tofu and mushrooms, the australian lettuce, and especially the stew eggplants... oh boy it is so gooood.
The service is fast but sometimes they are strained because of crowds. So, you have to make a reservation if you are going in the evening. Do NOT walk-in, the queue would be very long.
The peanuts, the chilli sauce that goes comes with every order is the hallmark of teochew porridge--they are goood.
I have only one complaint, and that is only a problem for me, i.e. some of the food have very strong "pork" of "chicken" stench. This is because I am a vegetarian (liberal). So other than this, I am very happy with the service and food.
The ambience is very much a "Chinese restaurant" so your typical "Chinatown" look. It is a great place to eat and savour the porridge and food slowly, and lap up every drop of the gravy in the food.
If you have craving to have wok fried food that goes with porridge, this is the place. They can skip the meat to accommodate vegetarians, so ask for it if you are like me, a vegetarian.
Small portion so if you are a big eater need to order more , fast service , porridge is serve bowl by bowl Food wise. Is not great but passable
Small eatery with some home style cooked dishes. Their porridge size rather small but dishes sizes are good. Need to work on their 三杯鸡 (meat was rather tough)
One Of My Favorite Place For Taiwan Porridge!!
A Nice & Quiet Place For Business Lunch Too~
Food standard seems to have dropped from my previous visit. Also much more expensive now. Not value for money given the normal taste. There is better value elsewhere with better taste & quality. Not impressed.
Claypot chicken dish was not well cooked. When we feedback, waitress reluctantly took it back to the kitchen. We asked if they cooked a new dish, as the raw chicken we took out cannot be eaten, she insisted a fresh batch was given. It was not true as the dish had the same few remaining pieces. They just reheated it. Did not like the way it was handled. Other dishes were so so. Free flow porridge though.
Go to place for nice sweet potatoes porridge with delicious dishes to accompany it. Green vegetables will not fail you. Egg dishes may at times be too oily IMO. Meat dishes are great too.
Whenever I don't feel too good, I will visit here to spur my appetite up~
I stay in the neighbourhood and people around Singapore travel down to my estate to have the food here, need I say more? As an avid lover of Asian food and the occasional “zhou” (porridge). This place has kept it’s quality since I was a young boy, including 100 over options! Recommendations from me are the chai po omelette and the braised pork in soy sauce, must try!
Good food, excellent service.
Very wide selection of dishes that are cooked to order. Possibly better value than Goldleaf. Taste wise was good for most dishes but was disappointed by their Mapo Toufu which was not authentic at all. Their braised pork wasn’t tender either. Nevertheless this is a good option to enjoy porridge with dishes in a clean and comfortable environment if you’re not in the mood to have it at a kopitiam or in a hawker centre where the dishes may have been on display for god knows how long.
Good Taiwan porridge with dishes mostly well done, although price slightly on the expensive side. Worth a visit if around the area.
Suggestion to the owner to maybe have some set lunch or dinner menu for single diner. Otherwise it will be hard to order if 1 person dining.
My favourite place for porridge in Singapore, and I’m not even a fan of porridge! All the dishes I’ve ordered are tasty and hearty. Servers are friendly and welcoming too 😊 food arrives super quickly - within 5 mins of ordering!
A traditional porridge place that serves wholesome home style porridge dishes.
Sweet potato porridge is free flow at $1.80/ pax. Pre-covid, they would just leave a pot next to you to self-serve, but now is served by bowl orders. Makes it feel like a boat noodle challenge, eat as much as you can and stack-em-up!
Dishes are slightly pricey, but the quality makes it worthwhile. In any case, if still hungry, just top up with more free flow sweet potato porridge!
One of my family's favorite place for light home cooked meals. Dishes mostly served in small portion. Please make reservation if dining during peak hours.
I recommend the salted fish fried with bean sprouts, the fried sesame fish (their speciality), fried tau fu with special sauce, hot plate deer meat, chye po omelette. Generous refill of rice and sweet potatoes porridge.
Comfortable to dine, with comfort food.. The sweet potato rice porridge was fragrant and goes so well with so many of their dishes. I would recommend their pomfret dishes, claypot tofu and kailan.
My favourite place to have porridge. The staff are attentive & try to remember every customer’s needs. They serve the best food & always never fail to deliver tasty food. The ample & convenient parking lots are also a plus point.
First time there for porridge. Taiwan porridge are more water as compared to Japanese or Penang. Good wise is still okay and pricing is reasonable compare to the food quality.
Simple, no frills Taiwanese porridge place. Some must orders are the cai poh omelette, beancurd with black sauce and pork floss, fish with black bean sauce, and the fried eggplant. If these are not to your liking, the friendly staff is more than willing to share their recommendations. Parking might be a challenge during peak hours but definitely worth the trip.
Really really good. I have been coming back so many times since I first got introduced by a friend. My favourites are the chai po egg, sliced fish with kai lan (super value for money), venison (amazing!) and prawns with curry leaves (sooooo good!). Highly recommended!
Love their Sweet potatoes porridge.. cold tofu, chaipo egg and steam salted egg minced meat
The dishes have wok hey! Good place for dinner during weekdays. Satisfying experience indeed!
Very good food, but service definitely needs huge improvements. Not very friendly nor attentive staff. Got orders wrong TWICE.
My go to place for home style Zichar + taiwan porridge (real sweet potato inside!)
Ginger onion stir fried meats, silver sprouts, salted veg braised pork, fish sauce brinjal are some of the must try staples.
The food is great! Love the Kang Kong! Price wise I would say slightly on the high side.
Awesome old school porridge place. Has all the home cooked tastes that I wasn't able to find elsewhere.
Favourite Taiwan porridge! Been here for years and love it. Friendly fast attentive cosy comfy ambience for romantic intimates and families.
Very friendly staffs. Very nice foods. Free flow of porridge and rice. Well done.
Still consistently good. Liked their braised meat, chye poh fried egg and bean sprout. Yummy
Sweet potato in my porridge was dry and slightly hard. The chai po omelette was good!
Great variety of food and most dishes are flavourful. Not cheap though.
Great food at fair prices. Service can sometimes be surly, but usually fine.
Good and fast service, well cooked home-style dishes
Nice hor fun. Have yet to try other dishes, probably next time.
Parking quite difficult during lunch time. Foods quite ok with local styled Taiwan porridge.
Has been visiting this place since young, very authentic taiwan porridge place, worth visiting.
Great place with greater people. Try the egg with chai po dish.
Excellent food.
Plenty of variety when it comes to choosing ingredients to accompany plain porridge.
Nice Taiwan porridge, like their Deer meat on hotplate
Pricey but the personal service makes it up
Mei Chye kou Rou and Chye poh egg so good!
Synonymous with their fried ikan and salted fish meat dish
The pricing is on the high side and the food is average
Free flow porridge was the best.
Try the chye poh egg! It's out of this world!
Nice food and not expencive.
Good service but the place abit cramp
very nice food
Good food and good service.
Great food to go with porridge
Great Teochew porridge place.
Served good Taiwanese porridge
Great !
Nice porridge for title.
Great food
Great Service
At "CatSmat😸" next door, you can be healed by the cats, and at the restaurant "Haruba Taiwan Porridge", you can enjoy reasonably priced and delicious porridge and crispy fried mapo eggplant🍆...☺️💓Bliss...✨
First encounter with smart outfielders in Singapore.
The field staff are very good and have sharp ears. When they heard me saying that the rice noodles were burnt, they silently reported to the kitchen and asked for a new plate.
(Of course hotel service is good, but individually owned restaurants have different service standards.)
The restaurant may cater to the tastes of nearby residents, so you can’t feel the Taiwanese flavor: Kung Pao Chicken and Stir-fried Spinach
Xingzhou Rice Noodles…not recommended
