Reviews of Tamago-EN (NEX)
Everything we ordered was yummy though I would prefer baked/grilled chicken over poached/boiled chicken in chicken avocado salad. Beef steak omurice is must order and triple berries fruit tea was refreshing too.
Great Japanese western cuisine at reasonable prices. True to their name, their eggs are exceptionally fresh and tasty. Too stuffed to try their desserts. Will visit again for that :)
Taste:
Tonkotsu Black garlic sauce Ramen 5/5
Chicken Omu Rice 4.5/5
Mentaiko Prawn Pasta 5/5
Have been wanted to try since opening but with all the bad reviews previously im unwilling to take the risk. Finally, i saw good reviews coming up consistently so why not. Had a pleasant dining experience. Food tasted alright, souffle was nice. It wld be great if there's an option to add greens for the Gua Smash. Staffs r very welcoming. Please keep up the good job, i wld like to patronise again :)
Overall a great experience, namely Alvin whom
has displayed exemplary service and professionalism during my dine in experience, which made it both memorable and enjoyable. He is friendly to approach and talk to, and enquired my queries with succint information with patience. Overall an excellent dining experience made possible because of him.
(+) Nice, clean environment.
(+) Service is prompt when there is no crowd.
(+) Love all the desserts, especially the Strawberry Tofu Cheesecake.
(+) The coffee is good too.
(=) Rice and noodle dishes are average.
(-) The whipped egg white is just tasteless foam.
(-) The prices of items from the all-day breakfast options are on the high side.
Good was good and I like the lychee drinks. What I would like to appraise was the service serve by Alvin. He was very patience in explaining The menu. High recommended to this place.
If you are a fan of eggs, you will love this eggs specialty Japanese restaurant. Love their seafood medley pasta, which is one of their recommended dishes. Spaghetti is al dente, seafood has a bit of wok hei, the onsen egg make the spaghetti even smoother, like moonlight hor fun. Will definitely be back to try their other dishes.
Tasty fried rice, contain mushrooms and chicken bits. Portion is just nice for ladies. Salmon is quite nicely cooked but slightly thin. Got a free tofu cheesecake was quite good too, not too sweet just nice for me.
Tried the chicken steak omu rice lunch set and it was a pleasant surprise! The chicken is nicely seared with a crispy skin while the meat is tender and juicy. The omelette was creamy and smooth as expected and the demi-glace sauce was a real icing on the cake for this dish. Really worth it!
The service staff here were very nice and friendly. The food however was slightly disappointing. Ordered some pancake cheese on a stick with egg and it tasted really weird, the cheese texture was just wrong. The egg covering the beef stew rice was overcooked and rubbery even though it had a beautiful color, felt like I was eating the big breakfast egg at McDonald’s only harder and drier. Chicken don was great though, the chicken’s texture was just right and the half-cooked egg was perfect! The egg salad with white bread was alright. Tasted kinda bland, could have added slightly more salt and pepper. All in all an okay overall first time experience. You can expect to spend about $30-$60 here.
As a regular customer for their breakfast, the service remain slow & lacking. Without fault finding, the staff are always ready to assist me. Trying to get their attention can be challenging due to the lack of manpower. I would patiently wait for them to serve me.
Be kind to them please.
Had dinner here. Food is served fast. Quality is decent good. Will try the pancake next time.
Food is great. The egg is always consistent. Ordered the steak egg rice set & fruit tea, enough for a hearty meal. Tho the ambience in this branch is not very nice. Noisy & narrow distance between tables
The food portions is big, presentation and taste is very good. The souffle pancake is not too sweet. The wait time was long but it was also lunch hour, so it was okay.
The dish certainly looked appealing. The plating was done really nicely. Portions was enough.
I had the Tamago en oyakon Don and my daughter had the chicken stew omu rice. The swirl the chefs did for the omelette on top of the omu rice was nice.
Unfortunately I found the dish itself to taste quite ordinary. It does have a homely taste to it but it is not really something you'd pay such a price for.
Service was very prompt though so plus points for that.
This place always packed with people whenever we passed by but I never really want to dine in until my husband asked for trying it. We had our dinner at NEX mall during CNY. Staffs are friendly and attentive, appreciate it alot as they worked during CNY.
Food wise was far from our expectation, so my feeling was right LOL, my hub said so too. My unagi was smelly, the chicken was okay, the yuzu drink was good, the salad nothing special about it. So it maybe our first and last time visiting. It's about personal preferences.
Nice interesting dishes selection. Love the brownie affogato, breakfast platter and rice with mentaiko salmon rice
2 friends came here and ordered Ultimate Egg Rice. Their verdict is bland and not interested to try again. So we order something different and our verdict is 5 star. We had bacon & spinach egg Benedict set which was very good. Chicken cobb salad is good for healthy eating. The must try dessert is their caramel peach souffle pancake. The fluffy light creamy dessert is so good that I love to get a second helping. This is a must order dessert.
Very happy with my steak burger at Tamago today. Could have been perfect 5* except fries was warm instead of hot. The ladies also provided excellent service. Will come again n hoping to give 5* next time.
Food is visually better than their taste. Tried oyako don and chicken omurice. Had classic pancake for dessert. Sauce tastes a bit weird with overpowering taste of yuzu, ponzu, ginger? Not sure what is. Pancake soft and decent.
queued to see what the hype was about with tamago en as many were singing high praises for this place. staff were friendly and nice despite the overwhelming crowd.
we ordered the 5-kind omelette skewers, chicken nanban with homemade mayo, egg potato salad, chicken stew omurice and mentaiko salmon omurice.
unfortunately, the food fell short of our expectations.
the 5-kind omelette skewers and mentaiko salmon omurice was pretty good but the others were underwelming and disappointing. the batter used to fry the chicken nanban tasted sour and ordinary. the egg potato salad was only okay (we have eaten better tasting egg potato salads before). the chicken stew omurice was tasteless and overly salty.
good concept but overpriced for the quality of the food. probably will not visit again until it improves significantly.
The service rendered here is a little confusing as an older female staff told us some menu items were not available. But after we checked with another staff on the availability of the menu items, we were told that they are actually available.
In general, the egg dishes are good but I'd recommend ordering the milk shake (may be a little sweet), the ultimate egg rice and pudding.
Egg coma! The eggs tasted different and delicious, nonetheless, as a complimentary item become a focus item in the meal, it's a tat overkill. Unless you are an egg aficionado, I'd advise not over ordering. Food wise, the quality is good
I love the food. Had the Prawn Pesto Pasta it was so delicious. The Berry Pancakes and Pudding so smooth and creamy. Great service! Kudos to the chef and team! 🥰
Oyakodon lunch set is worth it :) the unagi and egg TKG wasn’t exactly like the photo, a bit stingy with the shredded egg, but tasted pretty good and the presentation was unique hehe. Would go back. Service needs work though! They seemed understaffed.
Food is rather average. There was queue snaking before it open, it was full house at 11.30am. Food came not very fast but prompt but the last dish egg Benedict was slow came almost after 25mins later. I like their soufflé thou, other was average. The next batch of customer need to wait almost 30mins before a table is cleared. Wont be back again for their main dish.
changed our initial dinner venue for this upon smelling the beef, 'nuff said. it's QR ordering & limited seating so I don't have much to say about the service/atmosphere. not the place for a cosy chat, but the food is so good, more than good enough for tonight's date night.
Don’t bother trying the oyako don, it wasn’t tasty, the chicken is poorly marinated and the onion taste just isn’t coming out. The bacon and egg benedict meal was okay, the sausage is the best part of it unfortunately.
HOWEVER, you MUST try their 5-kind Japanese omelette skewer!!! MUST TRY, I love it. All 3 stars are for the omelette!
Really fulfilling the stomach with all the eggs menu. More to the Japanese styles taste.
Will return visit for the pancake dessert seem quite tempting too
Flavour is amazing! Beef omurice was packed with umami flavour and the tornado egg was cooked perfectly. The wrapped okonomiyaki (hashimaki) was so good! Mentaiko flavour stood out, with the melted and crispy cheese, and chewy pancake exterior. Overall it’s very worth it, just a tad bit expensive to eat often, so I’ll come only once in a while, or on special days :)
Good visuals of food & good customer service. However, the taste & portion of the food/desserts could be improved for the price
Nice food and dessert! Must try the strawberry pancake. The pancake so fluffy and soft and the strawberry so sweet! The food also nice..
I was here to order for takeaways. Didn't dare to order their signature dishes (the ones with raw egg mixed with sashimi) because didn't want to take the risk.
Ordered the cooked food like oyako dons instead. They are good, but pretty much standard and what you would expect of an oyako don. The chicken was very tender, so that's a plus.
They are offering a 20% discount for takeaways, that's a very good deal! So even though I hope to try eating there one day, I encourage you to order takeaways to enjoy the great deal!
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Cashless payments accepted. Major loyalty programs too.
The staff are very friendly, the food is delicious, the environment is comfortable, and it's a great place to dine with friends, worth our revisit.
They do their eggs well.. Especially the Okonomoyaki was amazing! And the best of all.. Their fluffy pancakes are worth dying for!!!
Quite good for the price. Lunch set with drink, soup and dessert was so good and so worth for me. Will definitely come back for this deal again. But the omirice gravy is super salty didn't get to finish it
Interesting Japanese dishes made with fresh imported Okinawa eggs. Tried their Tamago-En Oyako Don, 5 kinds Japanese Omelette Skewers, the Caramel Peach Soufflé Pancake and Pistachio Strawberry Mousse Parfait. The dishes are really delicious 😋. Will patronise again for more other dishes.
Other than the sandwich being underwhelming. I think the rest of the food was pretty good. Soufflé pancake is recommended.
Looks better than it tastes. Omu rice is blend. Every dish is egg. Would prefer more variety in menu with protein or others.
We were really impressed by the food. The egg was gloriously runny, and added a natural silliness to each mouthful.
Absolutely love the food and drinks served here. The quality is superb for the price! Can’t wait to be back here again.
Huge portion of food. Value for money for the lunch (come with soup, ice tea n a dessert) set. Good service, help us pack one dessert as we can't finish.
The egg white was bland until I added all the ingredients. So far all 3 dishes were good (Dashi udon missing)!
Price: 3/5
Taste: 4/5
Ambience: 4/5
Speed of serving: 3/5
First time visit here, order the Beef Stew Rice, Seafood Tomato Rice and Tamago MilkShake.
- Beef Stew Rice is very nice with beef cubes cooked just right mix with Mushroom and Omelette.
- Seafood Tomato Rice the mixture of prawns and scallops top with the Tomato sauce.. yummy..
- Tamago-EN Milkshake for me it feels like normal sweetened milk with ice ... not that special.
Very instagramable but the food was just ok. Tried their highly recommended beef stew omu rice, but I found the rice a bit mushy & the beef was overcooked so it was hard to chew. Assorted tamago platter is just the original tamago with different toppings, which was quite disappointing. We got sick of the sweet tamago after the third stick, so best to share with more than 3 persons.
*This review is based on a takeaway experience.
I ordered the Mentaiko Salmon Cream Rice with Omelette
Taste:
On the first look, it does look pretty appetising with the use of colours. Since it was takeaway, I was not expecting much, but to my surprise this looks pretty appetising. Taste wise, it is average, but this may be due to the loss of optimal temperature for consumption. Would definitely recommend dining in instead. Nevertheless, the creamy taste is still delightful.
Price:
For $15.80, this is slightly above average given that there were only a few pieces of salmon which you cannot see. But portion wise, it is quite satisfying.
good stuff, must try - appreciate that they open on first day of new year - thank u for feeding us
Delicious pancakes. Salmon cream sauce rice was so-so. Eggs benedict was not bad
My go-to place for hearty meals and soufflés!
Service staff is very helpful and good food!!
Very yummy eggy food! If you're an egg lover, give this place a try 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Finally a restaurant for those who love eggs, especially tamago eggs. I must add the original milk shake is a good choice and the souffle pancakes are delicious.
The cashier/staff was really sweet.
My family from age 22 to 83 Love the souffle pancakes.
Coffee is very mild. Tried both ice coffee and cappuccino. Prefer stronger more robust coffee.
5 kind omelette is a tasty protein fix.
The service is prompt, the staff are friendly, and the food is delicious! The seafood medley pasta was just the right texture and flavour! The Eggcellent was scrumptious and the mini hash😋.. My Favourite!!!
The Eggs are the BEST as usual!
Food was out of this world and the service was top tier, waiter that served me was very patient in recommending dishes and was very polite, manager was very kind as well
The pancake was really good, for the others it could have been better, the quantity to price ratio wasn't the best and the quality could have been better but overall was a good experience
The taste of the chicken steak of the omu rice is very salty. Hope see much improvement in less salty taste of the chicken steak.
Fast to get table on Sunday evening. Efficient and friendly staff. Irene informed harshbrowns are out of stock so replaced with French fries for my girl. Pricy but food still kept its standard
Good food and service
great!
Nice egg menu for the whole family
expensive, small portions. $15.90 for omurice (haven't even charge GST yet)
Pancake is super awesome! U should try!💖
Supervisor Stephanie has been a wonderful host! Keep the good work up!
Good service from all friendly staff, nice food and big portion, 1st time eat raw eggs, it's super nice... Will come back with my family again.😁😁😁
Good service,good food 👍🏻
Warm welcome by staff with louder Japanese welcome, good food and value for money. Definitely will bring family to visit again 😊
The photos in the Menu are quite consistent with the actual product🤭
The egg yolks are all half-cooked, I love them😋
The pancake is very soft and delicious. It happens to be on sale. It’s a great value. Highly recommended👍👍
The waiters are also very polite and kind 👍
Delicious😋, good service, highly recommended.
The salad and salmon rice I ordered were relatively fresh and tasted refreshing. There is also a seafood bacon pasta, which is slightly spicy and tastes pretty good. It’s just that the price is not cheap, it’s a little more expensive than eating a lot of meals.
Already
The dishes are special, the presentation is beautiful, and the food is average
