Reviews of The Beef House
I'm a Hakka Moi. My bil, who introduced this place to us back in 2018. I usually don't like beef ball...but but but this is the only place I keep coming back for it abacus, beef ball, yong tau fu & hakka noodles, oh..oh.. yes.. yes.. and their soon kueh as well.
Saw the line wasn’t insanely long and got into line to try. This is not the place to look for good service though. I literally saw the stall owner kept a full bowl of beef slices into the fridge but telling the customers no more beef slices. 😅 apparently I was told that they allowed their regulars to “jump” queue when they serve tables. Now it’s a line so no choice.
When I first tasted the homemade beef ball, I knew why they are popular. The beef ball has full beef flavour like eating beef meat itself but with the bouncy texture of meat ball. From the photos you probably think that the soup and noodles are rather blend, but it instead it is light but flavourful. The beef noodles are not the usual thick gravy style. This is light clear soup.
The yong tau fu is very good too. They even had a piece that is mushroom which I really like. Overall food tastes great just lacking in service.
Frankly, their Yong Tau Foo were pretty normal to me but they are the remaining few places that still sell the Hakka style minced meat noodle and you can pair them with their beef soup instead of YTF. Their beef ball is one of the best around and sellers were accommodating enough to let us 'mixed & matched' the items from 2 stalls which essentially share the same owner.
Love the beef balls with bee hoon soup. One of best in Singapore! Only open at lunch.
Always an amazing meal here, we are regulars on weekends. It's very pleasant for breakfast and early lunch, in an old skool setting like the old days. The mee pok with minced meat is flavourful to match the hand made Yong Tau Foo. My fav it's the simplest however, sliced beef bee hoon soup. So simple and hearty. Uncle is humorous, so if he makes a statement, it's usually a joke, be sure to join in the banter.
Came over to taste authentic Hakka food. First the Hakka special Abacus pieces or 算盘子 and the Soon Kueh, both taste exquisite and excellent. A must try in Singapore. Their Hakka Niang Tofu noodles are however a mixed dining experience. The stars are the assorted bean curds and other condiments in the bowl of delicious soup. The letdown is the surprisingly bland pork noodles. It is recommended to add in the sweet sauce and chili sauce to enhance the flavor. Overall a good dining experience except for their services and noisy environment.
Looking for breakfast in the area and chance upon this.
Super friendly and fun boss.
I asked for mixed beef balls, which is not on menu and he gladly obliged.
Ate the noodles firsta nd were pleasantly surprised that a simple plain kwayteow is so delicious!!!!
Next the tendon and beef balls.
The texture is so good!
Bouncy yet without the veiny parts.
Soup is comforting.
Will be back!
I was brought here by a local foodie on New Year' Eve around 830am. No queue. And I will tell you, it was amazing. The noodles have this quality. And the beef balls reminded me of the bakso I enjoy in Indonesia. I appreciate the covered sidewalk seating and admiring the old shop houses across the street. A real gem. Come early. And be ready to satisfy your tummy.
Recommended this place. By the time I went at noon there was already a long Q. Everything was sold off and left with beef noodles. For me the beef balls were a tad too salty though the size of the meat balls is huge. The cooking wasn't the quickest as it was mainly 1 couple manning and most work is done by the male. Considering the waiting time and food, once is enough. Nothing to shout about on ambience, just eat and go. Parking is bad during lunch. Suggest to go early morning once they open for more choices and a better experience.
Can’t believe my luck as we stumbled upon this place. Whether it is the beef ball, the Yong tau fu or the soup, they are just so fresh and original in their taste. My entire family luv them to the hilt! The coffee shop is small and not very well kept but the food from this stall more than make up for it! We will be back for more and u have to come here!
Probably the best beef ball in Singapore, price is affordable as well, only downside is no aircon, that's why I come early in the morning to escape from the heat. But this price this taste, can't complain
Came at 9am on a thurs morning. No queue and plenty of parallel parking along Syed Alwi road . Love the beef tendon balls here and their qq texture meepok , worth the calories
Not bad beef ball soup with bee hoon. Simple stall. By the road side. Kinda nostalgic feel.
It’s been awhile ! But the Hakka beef balls are as springy and tasty as ever, with the flavourful soup and kway Teow accompanying. I went late for lunch, so as to miss the crowd which are ever present during the peak hours. Still as authentic and fulfilling for Hakka street food. Will go again soon when in the area !
Best YTF, even better beef tendon balls and sliced beef. Shun Kway is acquired taste. No YTF because my poison was Fish Ball/pig liver noodles at Veerasamy Road, but the lady sick last minute, hope not CoVid. So I had YTF at Jalan Bersah Hawker basement just in case Beef House also closed; you never know nowadays.
Simple meal with clean flavours. Clear broth belies the flavours that carry the delightful beef balls with texture that is not run of the mill.
Simple flavoured noodles too, a tad alkaline-y, but al dente enough to be enjoyed for a thoroughly comforting meal. No fancy frills, just old school simplicity.
If you are not into beef, this stall offers Yong ToFu options too, with similar clean broth worth emptying the bowl of.
Skip the noodles, go straight for the beef ball soup!! The soup was subtly sweet and flavourful, while being completely unoily and light! Beef balls lived up to the hype; they tasted like real beef (not like those factory made type) and were really springy too 👍🏻👍🏻
Uncle was friendly and caring too ☺️ Will definitely be back!
hearty good bowl of hakka beef ball bee hoon soup. quite different from the usual beef noodles that we see. tasted delicious. looking forward to coming back to try their hakka ytf.
This stall is a gem. You can find traditional taste in their food, both the yong tau fu and beef balls. The sliced beef and beef balls come in clear soup which is uncommon. Don’t let the look fools you. There are about 7-pieces yong tau fu and I love the simple traditional taste. Have them dry and the noodle will be served separately. Taste the noodle without mixing it with any sauce. Try also the soon kueh. The fillings are very generous.
As close to the originals from Hakka Beef balls from China. Big bouncy and nicely done. However, you can feel that the beef is not thoroughly pounded, which could affect your first bite. At least, in Singapore, this is close enough. Beef slices are really tender, cooked within nice timing. Overall, not to be missed.
Only giving it 4 star because of the queue... 5 star for the beef ball and sliced beef! Noodles were still nice and chewy after bringing it home for lunch😁. Probably even better if eaten at the shop....
Next time will try the traditional Hakka soon kuey and snacks!
Be prepared to go early to catch the snacks.... They usually finish selling those at about 10~11am....operating hours from 7am to 5pm or when all ingredients are sold out.
Never underestimate the outlook of this coffee stall that selling beef noodle and 吃酿豆腐
Is one of the best I had ever eaten
This beef house sell many varieties of noodles such as tendor beef mix with beef meat ball or tuo kee. It’s family sibling business. Beef ball lover can always order from them 1Kg frozen beef ball for home cool noodles for children.
2023-01-01 first hawker meal kickstart. Continue support local hawker community. Great yong daofu stall with regular queues.
Not often you get to have the dry noodles at 1.30pm but I was lucky enough to snag a bowl. What I really like is the beef balls, especially those with tendons, giving it a nice chew. The noodles are like an in between mee Kia and mee pok, paired with the minced pork making it a beautiful combo. If you are a chilli person, the chilli is also very delicious and I usually have 2 helpings cause it just so tasty.
Sort of over hype. Saw their beef ball coming out from the fridge. Should be custom produce by factory. Sgd7 for 7 beef balls. Overall expensive, broth is clear and below average. Average taste.
Traditional Yong tau Foo. Beef ball soup is excellent. Place can get crowded and expect to queue.
Beef ball was tops. Chili sauce too
Broth lacks substance and flavour. Mediocre.
Long wait, disorganised service. Queue jumping goes on and yet stall operators permit it.
Beef balls were very good and yong tau foo soup was tasty as well!
Passed by the stall and decided to give it a try.
Pleasantly surprised.
Nice beef balls and clear soup. Definitely worth trying.
Come for the food
Comforting bowl of Yong tau foo with beef balls which is great for a rainy morning
Was not really hungry but ended up finishing the whole bowl of ytf.
Value for money as well: you get around 7 pieces just for 4 bucks
Nice tender homemade beef balls. Their Yong Tau Foo is delicious too and at affordable prices. Dnice Chili sauce too. Hakka Owner is very loud and doesn’t mince his words. Do buy their takeaway Soon kueh.
For those who love beef balls, come and try this. The beef balls are bouncy, fresh & meaty! The broth is light, unlike the Hainanese version. This is just a simple bowl of noodles & meatballs.
Excellent juicy beef balls that are floating in a clear broth... the beef ball soup here is stuff of dreams. It's not easy to get boiled beef balls right. Some times they become smelly and some times they become too bitter. But not here. You can never go wrong with Hakka Beef Balls.
Highly recommended beef balls and soon keys. Also, buy their frozen beef balls and repack to smaller portions to add to soup or noodles. Must try!!
Authentic Hakka beef ball kway teow . Hand made beef balls serve in a clear soup which may seems lacklustre but the smell and taste pack with authentic brewing of natural ingredients fragrance will refresh you senses and rethink about its appearance. It's not same as the typical Hainanese style beef kway teow found around.
Great beef balls and tender beef slices. Easy on the wallet. They have great hakka yong tau foo too. Clear soup makes you want to go for another bowl. In my opinion, its one of the best.
One of the rare and soon to be extinct makan places that make their specialities from scratch and have noodles made to specifications. Hakka noodles are like fettucine or mee pok but less wide . The texture is much springier and it takes a master to get it al dente but not soggy. Tossed in their home made chilli , this makes for a good enough dish
Delicious bowl of beef soup and beef tendon ball soup. Comfort food and reasonable price. Good 💯👌👍🥰
Must try
The yong tau foo set is very good value. Though we don’t get to choose the pieces, but variety will be given. To avoid the long queue come early. Usually sold out at about 1pm
They offer authentic haka you tau fu & beef ball bee hoon soup...taste good but a it expensive...there's always weekend crowd. Lunchtime is most crowded, be prepared to wait at 30-45mins
Best beef balls, Very chewy texture and juicy! The soup is clean and full with flavour too!
I've not been to this place during covid. However, when I went there for yong Tau foo soup last morning for breakfast, I once again enjoyed the generous portion of the yong Tau foo n it's cheap for the quality.
The beef ball soup is blend ...beef ball is full of texture and quite c delicious... the yang toufu soup is very tasty the ingredients very old school taste...but this place lack of system you will need to queue a long time as other customers will cut your queue and they will serve randamly to different table... be prepared to wait...
Nice Beef Balls. The soup may look plain but it is actually very flavourful.
Both the beef tendon and beef are really good. They have really good stuffed toufu also.
Rare hand made beef balls. With nice soup to go along with 👍
Best beef ball👍👍
Good food quality with affordable price. Lack of parking lots at certain timing of the day though.
One of the best noodle I have tasted and eaten.
In my opinion, the best beef balls in Singapore!
Decent typical beef noodles
Good old nostalgic taste! Kampong feel
Great noods
Love the handmade beef meat ball
Yummy beef ball noodles.
Beef balls and Noodle are my favourite
Place to get Hakka cusine
Authentic old-school taste
Tasty noodles and soup
Uncle is very busy but very enthusiastic. It tastes pretty good. But I think I like Blanco better.
It's simple, cheap and delicious. It's great to have beef ball rice noodles after shopping until your feet are sore and your stomach is hungry.
Street stall style, beef balls are a must, and other Hakka snacks are delicious and retain the traditional flavor.
The proprietor is very friendly.
It's like a local food stall. It's a popular restaurant that locals visit one after another starting in the morning, but it's a little difficult to order. It's quick to point to someone ordering.
The eclectic old man, the talkative aunt, and the 4 yuan beef broth with rice noodles are better than those with one Michelin star.
The soups of Yong Tau Foo and Beef Balls are both good
