Reviews of The Dempsey Project
Always a great vibe. The kitchen food out is so fast and great food. Shout out to all the service staff who always tries to be attentive amidst the busyness of the place on weekends. Thanks for a great dining experience!
This curry is simply mouthwatering! Each spoonful bursts with flavorful spices and rich aromas, a true delight for the taste buds.
Sadly that I have to edit this review to reflect a recent visit and a trend I noticed lately.
Since the tourists have been peaking up and the restaurant is getting busier. The service quality is getting worse. In last few weeks that we visited, they have been rushing customers out even though their food takes quite a long time to serve. Moreover, once in June, we were there with friends and family, met a very rude lady at counter when dealing with payment. She was so passive aggressive towards me when I simply asked how does the membership work. She could simply say that the email subscription is just to gather my personal information to send marketing emails. It’s not a membership with any benefit. Instead, she has embarrassed me asking what kind of membership I have, she doesn’t know whether I’m a staff member or Dempsey hill member or whatsoever. When I trying to clarify, she even brushed me off and ask me to stand aside to let her deal with other customers first whereas there was only our family and one customer standing around. She could have dealt with my clarification with simple answers and in a polite way instead of taking so long and ruin our mood. Very disappointed after this encounter and no longer recommending anyone to this place.
Hope the management could see this and make a change in educating how staff can handle queries better.
The food quality and taste are constantly nice. Staff used to be friendly and attentive. It’s one of our staple dining options at Dempsey hill. They also update their menu time to time. The indoor dining area is nicely cooled with spacious seating. However, it is quite noisy during weekend peak hours.
Overall, we like this place and often bring home chocolates and cheese after the meal.
Great evening with wonderful friends and food to die for. It’s the muggy weather that came in the way of a fantastic experience. Extensive vegetarian options with efficient service make this a must visit place
Nice place with tall ceiling and modern decoration but music is quite loud if you want to have a conversation. Food is decent and service is great - very patient and friendly staff.
Great place, convenient ordering. Food menu is extensive, covers many cuisines. Vibe and service is excellent, and very receptive to dogs. Love this place, 10/10 recommend
I really love this place. All the food are extremely yummy. The portions are big as well. Well done to the chef! There are many vegan menu available. The waiters are very polite as well. Thank you!
Quite a crowd. Food was tasty and interesting. Thou we were there for early lunch 11.30am, took breakfast instead. Their lunch menu starts only at 12pm. Nevertheless, their breakfast was filling too.
Fabulous dining experience and wonderful service from Nas and his alfresco serving team! It was lunchtime but we were comfortably seated at a corner with our pet dog served with ice water. Thank you and we will be back.
We were looking for a nice place to brunch in Singapore and were glad to end up at The Dempsey Project. For Europeans, think a similar vibe to “Eataly” marketplaces.
For small appetites (like us) I would recommend to share some plates as the portions can be big. We opted for the Mezze plate and avocado toasts. We really enjoyed the little twist they brought to the mezze and the avocado toast were very fresh.
We also had a very good experience and interaction with the staff. They are very detail oriented and make sure we enjoy our meal. We will make sure to comeback next time we are in Singapore.
Love this cafe as the food is great and its dog friendly. Wide variety of food options, nice ambience outdoor with great music, staff is friendly and will constantly refill water for you and even offer your dog a water bowl. Have been a customer for many years now! Highly recommend! 👍🏻
Felt really welcomed by Max. Very thankful to have him recommend us the signature dishes and it was so so good. Especially the cauliflower wings. It was the best, our favourite!!! And thank you Max, for being so accommodating. We couldn’t decide the mains and decided to change to Cambodian curry amok Chicken 🐔 and it was the bessst choice ever. Overall service is good and nice ambience.
Waiters are friendly, spacious and kids friendly. Didn’t had to wait too long on a ph to get a seat during lunch. Aircon is much appreciated esp for families with kids! Recommended for a chill stop over for lunch.
Here to celebrate brother’s birthday. Great food! Will definitely come back again.
Great place to bring your pets! Outdoor area can get warm but it is clean and chill. Food was good!
Great place for coffee & cakes…nice ambience though cakes at ~$16++ a tad expensive.
Have been here a few times and like the fact there is a lot of variety in vegetarian and vegan . Always found anything I ordered very palatable .
Tofu sichuan mala noodles ($29.00++)
Truffle mushroom risotto ($29.00++)
Banana oat pancakes ($23.00+)
Great vegan options. Items are slightly on the pricier side but certainly worth it for the quality, environment and level of service. Very friendly to children/ families as well.
Excellent starter. Excellent atmosphere.
Vegetarian main course was average. Bit overpriced.
The Dempsey Project has a lovely ambiance and a beautiful setting, perfect for a relaxing meal. My partner and I enjoyed the food, which was fresh and well-prepared, but we found the prices a bit too high for what was offered. While the menu has some great options, it felt a little overpriced compared to similar spots in Singapore. That said, the service was attentive, and the vibe is great if you’re looking for a special occasion place. Just be prepared for the higher price tag.
The place is cosy and comfy. The food is amazing. Huge space but tables are small.
Just another pricey brunch spot. The big Egyptian breakfast ($32) was just flat bread with veggies and dips. The avocado and sweet potatoes was disappointing, rather tasteless. Scones were tiny for the price.
Very spacious and kids friendly. They gave a toy to my baby so he can entertain himself. Food wise is good, has a wide variety of food. Love it. Highly recommend
My first visit to Dempsey project and it won’t be my last for sure. Food is great not just taste but presentation and creativity! The ambience is perfect especially for pet lovers. Staff are extremely friendly, prompt in servicing and very helpful. Eg. gave us decent advice where to sit to avoid morn sun. Staff was eager to please. Very impressed with the crew professionalism and attitude.
Nice place to chill with friends. The dessert was great. Dellie and the rest of the service staff are very friendly and helpful.
The food recommended by Max is very nice! Especially the cauliflower wings is definitely must try… surprisingly their menu has many vegetarian and vegan dishes which I feel like trying all of them! Will surely come back again. Thanks Max for the good service!
Great food. Rather pricey. Great service
Will be back to try all the other food on the menu. I have only one request which is to have some description for the tea choices on the app. It would help when we are deciding on which tea to get 😊
The ambience is great. They have very good vegetarian and vegan options. It was a nice day out with the family
I had the reuben sandwich and it's possibly the best sandwich I've ever had in Singapore, largely because of the quality of the sourdough bread. Our server Kavi was very attentive and helpful throughout. He made our lunch very pleasant
Most exquisite lemon meringue tart in town. Forget Masterchef. The real deal is here.
Nice place for lunch or afternoon coffee. Senior staff is excellent, junior staff needs training. Food a bit too biased towards Indian and vegeterian dishes, and no commercial soft drinks available. Other than that, we'll probably be back
their big dempsey breakfast was extremely tasty and the portion is perfect. Their latte is also amazing when combined with oatmilk
Nice place but can get quite noisy.
Love their huevos rancheros (v) and bacon &egg wrap surprises one with caramelised onion. All the staff are so super friendly and helpful with shout out to Satya . Outdoor seats in morning is splendid especially if you are bringing pets
Sunday brunch with the family. We had the veggie nachos, tempeh quesadillas, mushroom gyoza, turmeric chicken, death by chocolate, and the rose and saffron cake. Top notch food, taste and presentation. Great service from Shaun and Devkishan. Pricey fare, but great quality and attentive service.
Great pop up by Madam Key.
Amazing service by Dellie!
Delicious food and excellent host by all staffs
Glad that we have the booking to celebrate our close friend’s birthday. Looking forward to more!
The avocado cream on the toast seems not v fresh, have room to improve. But other food and drinks are v good. We always come here for brunch :)
Lovely place that’s dog friendly! That’s a big plus point.
Wide range of food to choose from on the menu, and the food portion is big. The only thing I wished could be better is a larger cup of cappuccino 🤭
It’s so quiet and cozy, plus the attentive and friendly staff, we really enjoyed our brunch there :)
Nice location and good drinks. The cafe crema was a very pleasant surprise. Special shout to the staff who are friendly and attentive, only managed to catch the name of one of them, Kavi, but the rest also made our experience here very pleasant and enjoyable.
Love the food and the service. Shawn was really helpful and friendly, he gave us great recommendations.
The place was dog friendly too!
While I love the food here, the last two visits have been let down by the lack of service, some food and coffee came out cold with no replacement offered (during breakfast). For the price, I expect a higher level of service and customer engagement.
Happy to find a restaurant in Dempsey Hill offering many vegan/vegetarian options for dinner time.
The atmosphere and food was good but in general everything is overpriced considering the portion you actually get. We were surprised to see the final bill after 10% service charge + GST.
2ns trip here...and it's fantastic!! We received a warm service and Delle remembers us and our cheeses.
Delle is an exceptional service provider. She made an effort to introduce new cheeses and get to know the guests. We love the service and quality of the food!
Great atmosphere. Food was excellent. Portion was more than sufficient and tasted perfect. Max was an accommodating host which sums up the whole dining experience as a pleasure. Highly recommended.
Service is prompt and they keep refilling the water. Club sandwich is nice and angelhair pasta with crab meat is just OK. Black coffee is the sour type.
Food and atmosphere is great. We ordered Tempeh Quesadillas, Lamp Shawarma and Atlantic Salmon. We don’t have to wait too long for the food to be ready.
The service was really fast and the food was extraordinarily yummy. The waiters always kept us hydrated by topping up our water which is good as they don’t want us to get dehydrated. The waiters were really friendly and we had great chats with them. Overall me and my partner had a fabulous time at the Dempsey Project and we will defiantly come back again!!
Looking for a great brunch place near the Botanic Gardens? The Dempsey Project is a great choice then. It’s a cozy little spot in Dempsey hill, with a menu that is not just tasty but also healthy. We had the banana oat gluten free pancakes and smashed avo with pumpkin. The pancakes were super tasty, fluffy and while a guilty pleasure didn’t seem too bad. The smashed avo, was tasty but would recommend to roast the pumpkin rather than steam for a deeper flavour profile.
Food is great but you really need to fix your front of house. We’ve been a few times and had issues - host disappears - and then all the other staff dismiss you like it’s not their job. Then you have customers coming into the restaurant asking why they’re waiting because they have a reservation - the whole system is just a big mess!
Love the coffee 🥐☕️and cosy Dempsey Hill atmosphere. The BIG Dempsey breakfast is wonderful and always a treat when you want a hearty brunch !! They serve breakfast till 3pm on weekends and PH. The new management have taken over from Jones the Grocers but have maintain the high standards 👍😎
The chicken skewers were am absolute delight and the chickpeas. The staff are extremely kind and they even gave us their all-star dessert dish to try. Will definitely recommend coming here if you're in Singapore for breakfast or for a sundowner meal.
Amazing food quick service
Very nuce for brunch. Kavi was very pleassent.
Nice ambience and friendly receptionist. Went there for dessert and drinks. We had house pour wine and beer.(do not reccoment the housepour wine, peroni beer is good). For dessert we had Death by chocolate and chocolate sorbet. Wanted to try the pandan pistachio but was sold out. The male staff in suit which appear to seem like manager wasn't helpful with the menu. When asked for alternative selection, none was provided. And he seem impatient. Other that than, all other food server and staff was nice and friendly.
Beautiful restaurant, good vibes, and great service. Our waiter Kavi was really attentive and nice.
Good food and excellent service. Thanks Dev @thedemseyproject for making us feel welcome. My dog love the place too. We will be back soon.
Wonderful experience at Dempsey Project, served by Shawn and his crew.
Food is delicious, service on point. Great ambience for a chilled evening with your pet.

Very good service and food. Highly recommended. Delle was very accomodating. Such a pleasant experience in Demsey Project.
The staffs here are attentive and good. Food portions are good too. Will definitely visit again
Coffee is overpriced, the sweet potato is not properly seared/ grilled, too watery to act as the base of guacamole. French toast is ok
Great Mediterranean spread, mezze has interesting chutney dips. The ambience is very nice and cosy for hangouts and catch ups. Staff is great and attentive too.
Was here for a coffee meeting. Service was great and coffee was decent. Loved the dark chocolate cookie that came with the coffee.
They serve one of the best Big breakfast in town! This place is great for pets as well.
Dempsey Project, Dempsey: Dining in a high-end groceries store. Beautiful Dempsey Project might be Australian but boasts French and Italian groceries on display and a mix of global cuisines in their menu.
Great food, service and ambience! Special thanks to Max for going an extra mile
They're friendly enough to charge a service fee, and although it's not a super fancy restaurant, it's above average overall. It's not a place where you can fail, and it was delicious. I recommend the cauliflower fritters. When I wrote a review, it seemed like the reviews were good because they gave me coffee and a croissant.
Kind and nice!
