Reviews of Thevar
Great experience overall. Food was delicious and staff was very nice and attentive. We had the experience menu + wine pairing. Everything went very well together and the pace was well done. There were not huge gaps between courses and food arrived promptly. Definitely prepare to have a food coma afterwards.
Great service!
Love the cozy environment and the mirror beside dining table. However the open kitchen took much space of the room.
Amazing Indian fusion fine dining. One of a kind. Would definitely bring friends visit again.5/5 for the food but 3/5 for wine/beverage pairing.
Amazing experience of Thevar in Bali during a collaboration where the food stood out. As Indians ourselves, We have never had food like that before and the way it was prepared was out of this world with flavour combinations were amazing and authentic. It’s Indian food totally redefined!
Awesome dining experience. Chef Mano and the whole team behind are really talented. Fine dishes, well balanced and lots of umami. They just go a well deserved Michelin star.
An amazing meal with the team. Each course (and there were 13 of them) was better the previous one. While the lamb murtabak and the duck tacos were outstanding- the piece de résistance was the tandoori lamb chop. Melt in the mouth stuff. Take a bow Chef Mano Thevar.
It's hard to pick a favourite dish. Every dish is so beautifully done -- but you can't miss the Kingfish collar. I love the open kitchen - my partner and I had lots of interesting conversations sat at the counter observing the staff. Wonderful experience. We'll definitely be back.
We had an amazing dinner here to celebrate our anniversary. We love Indian food and are very picky about it. We loved every dish we ordered and were glad we went here based on our friend's recommendation. The service was good, and the staff were friendly too. Will definitely recommend it and we'll be going back soon! Making reservations is a good idea.
Thevar truly deserves their 1-Michelin star. Such amazing and innovative flavors in every dish, consistent perfection in cookery and truly generous portions.
My husband and I have visited twice, and have proclaimed it our favorite restaurant in Singapore. Can’t wait to try out their Chef’s Menu again. So far, our favorite dishes have been the crispy pork with sambal aioli, the prawn kachori, the hamachi dish, the crab curry rice, and the mind blowing rasmalai dessert.
All of the staff including the chefs were very attentive, kind and genuinely conversed with the patrons (including myself) with the head chef even giving me another serving of one of the dishes i liked the most in the midst of service.
Will definitely return and recommend to others
I went all-apps for more variety and because I was on my own. I really appreciate that they did single servings where possible to facilitate this. Everything was great. Chicken roti. Butter mushrooms. Eggplant. Crispy pork. Would come again and eat all the other things. Sat at the kitchen counter and found the staff really engaging and friendly.
Modern Indian cuisine at its best. Fantastic food all round with interesting flavours, but the standout was the beef short ribs with beef biryani on the side.
Great ambience and delectable food! We loved all the dishes we ordered but the starters blew us away - crispy pork with sambal aioli, and the chettinad chicken roti. Will definitely be back for more.
Creative, ingenuous retake of Indian street food.
Each bite of the dishes in the omakase was like
an edible jewel!
So gooooood! Indian omakase. Not cheap but totally worth it. So many layers of flavors just exploded in your mouth.
Indian inspired flavours with contemporary techniques and finesse. Delicious and familiar. Reservations necessary. Everything ordered was good. Recommend the crispy pork sambal aioli and salty yoghurt drink.
Each dish was really amazingly delightful I was in total shookness. Definitely a place deserving of a 2 star!
Oh my gosh! Hands down the best Michelin star I’ve had. Every dish is so full of flavor - definitely on the pricey side but food really was so good. Wish there were more courses though especially at this price point.
Food is great. Innovative Indian cuisine. Service is just alright, could use a bit more attention. Overall a pleasant dining experience.
I had such good experience eating at Thevar! It amazed me on how the chefs were able to think and bring such brilliant taste on a plate. The food was thought out of the ordinary box and plated in a way it was hard for me to even eat cause it was so pretty! My taste buds was going crazy on that day as it had so many different taste and texture. Such a wonderful experience! Would always go again! On the side note, they had great tasting cocktails too!😄
The one and only Modern Indian restaurant in Singapore l, This place is a must. This place is for you to Try for the food and beverages on your own choice.
Well done! chef mano.It was a superb experience!
And there is a small click form me on the attached pics.
Entire experience was just amazing! Glad that they have a veg menu!
Went to celebrate a bday, we had the tasting menu, and it was just wow from the start. What a great choice. Was amazed at ALL of the dishes even the palette cleanser was so elavated (and we got complementary second helpings coz it was just too good too stop at 1). Firm favourites were the crispy pork in betel leaf, mysore rack of lamb (so juicy), n amadai malabar bouillabaisse(the fried fish scales gave a wonderfully crispy texture). Sashi took great care of us and we all had a wonderful time..a firm 11/10 ..will b bk wen they have a new menu :)
Thoroughly enjoyed both the hospitality and food at Thevar Rahvin our server was extra gracious in providing further food venues worth dining at to make the most of our time in Singapore which we also greatly appreciated!!
Both chefs and service stsff answered my unending questions very well and respectfully :)
Amazing food. Modern Indian cuisine. Excellent dishes. Loved the place.
A very special meal - the staff was incredible and I was fortunate to learn about how everything was cooked. They even sent me home with some hot sauce.
Pork snack dish with beetle leaf was out of this world. Second to my favourite was the Octopus with lemon barley. It's definitely not your typical Indian restaurant. Indeed it's one of a kind with their own twist to the flavours of every dish served. Good selection of wine and very attentive service. Highly recommended. Would definitely come back again! 😉😉😉
I had an incredible experience at Thevar! The food was “WOW”! Each bite was heavenly. A must go with your loved ones atleast once. No regrets!
We adore their sizzling Tandoori Spanish octopus. The will serve it fresh from the grill and the serving is good for three persons. They also have a wide variety of drinks you can choose from. I love their Piñacolada and on the rocks drinks. The kitchen staff are also friendly, they will personally ask for you dining experience after your meal. Good job, Thevar!
BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT EVER!
I can’t count how many times my partner and I have dined here! We have never had a less than a 5 star experience. Just writing this review is making me miss the food. Amazing and innovative dishes that will change the way you think about Indian food. Please order the rasum oysters and pork belly to start !
MANO and his team are so talented and we can’t wait for our next meal there.
I was so excited to come here & my husband booked weeks in advance as it's been my bday choice.
We arrived & were sat overlooking the kitchen. Whilst this may be fun for some people, we're both over 6ft tall so it was a bit uncomfortable.
There was a table of two spare so we asked to move.. we were declined. Dinners who booked 8+ weeks in advance we're allowed those tables.. I think we'd only booked a month in advance, so that was disappointing but we understood because we were excited to be there & thought others must be too... BUT what was hugely disappointing was that a couple came & sat beside us at the kitchen, then asked to move to the table.. and were moved! ... Then another couple arrived, were sat beside us at the kitchen.. they then also asked to move, and were moved also!!!!
It put a really sour taste in our mouths over a place with fantastic food & presentation.
Didn't really know what to expect from a modern Indian restaurant, but have to admit I was pleasantly surprised - everything we ordered was excellent. Traditional Indian food can be quite heavy, but Chef Maan Thevar's take is very sophisticated and well thought out. The service was very good, staff are very attentive, and the bartender made some very tasty cocktails despite the absence of a real cocktail menu. The space is small, but well laid out and very cozy.
Highly recommend the Chettinaad chicken appetizer and the rasam oysters (and i don't even really like oysters!), as well as the lamb main. Great experience, I hope Thevar is a runaway success, and I highly recommend it.
Food is five stars, but they let themselves down on two fronts. The service needs work - forgotten dishes, the wrong beverage, unfilled water glasses, the list goes on. The second demerit point is that the room is far too hot. With a long narrow space and an open kitchen with hot flames, it’s not easy to regulate temperatures, but they really need to address this to merit charging top rate prices for quite fine dining. The room itself is nothing special. Poorly lit, a bit bare and not much character to speak of. It’s a good thing the food is sublime otherwise this place would be an utter waste.
Celebrated a belated valentine's day dinner here at Thevar and was totally blown away by the flavors from each dish. How is it possible to be surprised yet reminded of our favorite dishes growing up. We were so sad when the meal ended, but we'll definitely be back with our friends and family.
Beautifully curated Chef menu with modern touches in every dish. Excellent service from the team in Thevar. I highly recommend you to book early and sit at the counter Seats where you can see all the action.
We thoroughly enjoyed every single dish! Wonderful experience will be back :)
This place is terrific for celebrating very special occasions. But I'ld give Revolver a slight edge on food
One of the best meal we had in Singapore, modern Indian food ,good service and vibes , only the music too loud for us, definitely will be back .
The personal touch from Mano tipped the scale. Not only was the food amazingly creative and full of flavours, Mano clearly loves what he does
amazing food and ambience !
Another gem!!! Quite expensive but the experience was amazing! Amazing service and delicious food and cocktails!
A truly special experience at the chef’s table!
One of the best Indian Fusion food I've ever had! Highly recommended.
Great presentation of Indian food (fine dining) with good starters, main course and dessert
Just Amazing!
Brilliant food , what an experience , simply outstanding and flavourful
very good! especially the raita and the burnt cabbage.
Amazingly experience
The overall Indian attribute is relatively strong, each dish has a bit of curry, and over time it becomes a bit the same 😅 But the last lamb chop is very good, basically the one that best embodies the essence of lamb among all the Michelin dishes I have eaten (of course I am from Xinjiang) Roasted whole lamb is still incomparable).
Not counting Michelin, which is an underrated restaurant, I was quite surprised that it was upgraded to two stars. I probably won’t come back again.
A 2 Michelin star Indian restaurant. We had a great menu. The corresponding wines were outstanding. The service was always polite.
The best meal during my trip to Singapore
