Reviews of TOMYUM MAMA
Went there on a Saturday evening and everyone must be present before you are given a table. If you hit peak meal times, be prepared to wait
Food was served relatively fast.
Food was nice but nothing to rave about. The mango salad is nice tho.
Can try if you are at the area.
Parking lots are limited I advise to just park at the mall nx to this food street.
Ate until shop closing time. The food was great as always. Look at the reviews.. That is a given. But why stay until closing? Because the shop owner is a damn funny guy who goes around chatting and laughing with customers. The place always feels like home!!
This outlet very HUAT. Multiple food delivery orders and a queue for dine in during dinner time on a weekend. Be prepared to wait long. It states on the wall it’s a self service restaurant so you may need to keep a lookout when they buzz your table number. Staff may sometimes bring food over if they can. Food wise, nothing outstanding. Signature Claypot Tomyum Mama came hot with 3 pork belly slides, 2 prawns, an egg, and a few pieces of squid and meat. I went straight for the ‘onsen’ egg, to find that the yolk was fully cooked. It may been sitting out for a while waiting to be served. Wanton Mee was decent. Crispy wanton goes well with mayo. Come during off peak or if you are nearby and don’t mind waiting.
This place was what I expected it to be - casual comfortable family dining spot! We came on a Sunday at 5.30pm and managed to get a seat, but it filled up pretty quickly. Decent food variety and all the dishes we ordered were very yummy! I loved the green milk tea that isn’t overly sweet like most other places are. Dishes were prepared very quickly, I loved how there were so many types of chilli sauce available. Owner (I think) checked in at the end of the meal to ask how the food was, which is a nice touch since casual dining spots don’t really do this. He was very proud of his chicken wings which I think is very cute haha (yes the chicken wings were delicious too!) overall would recommend, i would come back, great value for money!
Quaint, affordable, and satisfying Thai food.
Nice Claypot tom yum, in particular. Decent noodles and rice as well.
Fried chicken is crunchy and tasty, goes well with the provided sauce.
Wantan noodles go well with a dash of mixture of spicy oil sauce and vinegared green chilly (self serve at the back).
I discovered this restaurant through Google reviews and went there for dinner with my wife last week. We've been there a total of three times now. The Thai pork rice, Tom Yum fried rice, fried chicken, and milk tea are all amazing, and the service is excellent. The staff genuinely serve with sincerity and heart, making me and my family feel at home. Excellent!
Came across this store when I’m around the vicinity. Came here after reading good review.
Am pleasantly surprised with the food here. Tried upgraded claypot noodles, their ingredient is very fresh. Kong Pao roasted pork rice is not fatty and roasted to the right level.
Green milk tea is aromatic and not too sweet. Overall a very good experience.
Yr2023 - Ordered the Tom Yum with pork. Soup was tad sweet but u can adjust the spice & sour level. We are alright with this taste. Roast pork & meat balls are alright but the pork slices are hard to chew on. The add ons of moo ping & fried wanton is great. The Thai ice tea is below average. Price is on the high side but I dun think I can cook my mama noodles with this taste.
Yr2024 - Came this week and felt their Tom yum less creamy but roast pork taste better.
Went down after specially for their claypot tom yum. Also tried their fried chicken wings and crab meat fried rice (Abit spicy). Overall I find that it's really a good experience to try their claypot dishes. It's really worth the price and wait. And you have to help yourself with the condiments area for the sauces
Food are great. You should ask Uncle ( u will see there 😎) to recommend their popular dishes. If you want authentic taste of tum yum mama you have to go there and try. Sometimes abit of Q . ❤️❤️
Very awesome food, must order the fried fish, Kang kong, vermicelli prawn, minced pork
Had lunch during lunch hour . Should order the signature claypot tomyum mama. The gravy is creamy with mild taste of coconut milk. Personally feel a bit overpriced for $15 instant noodle haha but apart from seafood , there’s some roast pork inside the claypot noodle too..the rest of the food is reasonably priced for the location. Every lunch meal come with complimentary ice lemon tea except for wantan mee menu.. papaya salad is good , fried chicken is super good - recommend to order , prawn cake - so so . The condiments and chilli condiments is free flow lol..
My first time visit to this place on last Saturday. I ordered their signature Claypot Tom Yum mama, milk tea and it was so awesome. Will definitely be back for my 2nd time soon. 👍
Stumbled upon this Thai restaurant by accident and honestly, zero regrets! The food tastes as delicious as it looks (not joking!) and don’t get me started on the service. Service was absolutely pleasant! The staffs were all so friendly and attentive. Definitely would travel all the way to dine here again and would recommend this place to my friends.
The signature claypot Tom yam mama is good. The stir fried Kang Kong is normal. While all the pork dishes are with unpleasant odour and not value for money. The Thai milk tea is not freshly made and without the fragrance of tea.
The staff is friendly and kind. Furthermore, there no extra service charge and GST is absorbed in the price on the menu already.
Overall, some dishes are considered good and the price is reasonable. It would be a good place to have simple Thai dishes to fulfill your cravings
Authentic Thai food at a very affordable price! Really liked the signature claypot Tom Yam mama noodles! Slightly sour and not too spicy. The rest of the dishes were really tasty too! Will definitely be back!
The best Thai food I’ve had in Singapore! The basil minced pork and tom yum soup were bursting with flavor. The staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend Tomyum Mama!
Ordered one of their signature dishes; it tasted kinda like mee goreng. It’s a pity that it’s not spicy, considering that it’s Tom Yum. The portion was just enough for me, and the pork slices and prawns were fresh. The prices are generally friendly, especially since it’s a restaurant. Also love the ghetto vibes, with its industrial finishing, street wall art and awesome music.
Already starting to prefer this one over its popular neighbor.
If you come here, make sure to order the mama wanton noodles - it's really flavorful and all the bits and pieces of the sausage and pork fat adds just nicely to the experience. My bowl had extra pork slices, but you can skip that. The wanton soup has 3 wantons, already enough for this bowl. Had prawn steelpot vermicelli as well, very good flavor profile. The pork vermicelli though is something I'd pass up on next time, the proportions as a bit off and a little on the dry side.
The thai milk tea is on the sweet side and always served in a plastic sealed cup. Hope they would reconsider this because of how much plastic waste this builds up.
Btw, front of the house uncle is always super nice.
Update: Absolutely loooove their claypot pork tomyum mama. Do not sleep on this!
Tomyum's level 2 wasn't spicy at all (I'm the kind of person who's used to take medium mala), so if I go back, I'll try the level 3. The fish cakes were pretty normal. My favorite was the Thai omelette with dried salted radish. The mango sticky rice was a bit tasteless, and part of the mango was sour. The one good thing is that it is GST free.
However, I can't say I had a pleasant dining experience there. I was sitting outside with my dog and a staff got my dog excited and pulled me while I was eating.
He could suddenly said "no" to my dog, then he saw that my dog was not responding as my dog was just calmly resting under my table, then he approached and waved to invite/motivate my dog and when my dog tried to play he seemed intimidated and backed off. So we had to calm our dog down. This was repeated several times.
Really pleasant experience dining here! The staff there were really friendly. One of them even approached us and asked if it's our first time here followed by guiding us on how to order our food! We ordered Set A for 2 person. Get to choose 4 dishes and you can either choose to order plain rice with two free drinks of your choice or pineapple fried rice with no free drinks. Price were really affordable too, at only $29.90 for Set A.
Personally, the food was really nice especially the spicy kang kong, the thai mala pork was surprisingly nice too. As for the clear tom yum soup that we had ordered, was told that we can ask for a spicier option so we did and it turned out really great! However, would say that the tom yum soup lacks a bit of the tom yum sourness.
All the food is good and reasonable price!😋Please note that it’s self-service restaurant , need to collect food and cutleries on our own
It seems hard to look for the menu online. Hence, I would like to share the latest menu with everyone here (12 April 2024)
Have to queue during peak due to their popularity. Hipster uncle who is very friendly, kept checking on us while we were queuing.
Food is delicious & the fried wings is good!
Foods above average with friendly and helpful staffs. The wanton noodle chilli is super spicy. You need to try the chilli first before put into the noodle. The signture tomyum mama is yummy but is abit sour for me. Love the deep fried chicken wings, juicy and tasty. Although the coconut milk shake is to sweet for me but I love it! It was so good.
Simply yummy to the tummy! Ordered their signature Tom Yum noodles and it certainly lived up to the hype. Punchy and hearty Tom yum broth that trickles down the throat wonderfully. Will definitely come again for more.
We ordered the tomyum claypot signature, cabbage, pork with the pepper garlic sauce and the crab fried rice!
Tomyum was delicious, u can adjust the spiciness and the sour level of the soup, which was a bonus because i loveeee sour tomyum
Crab fried rice had the nice wokhey flavour and the crab was juicy. Cabbage had the wokhey flavour too and it was delicious!
But the garlic pepper pork was a little too salty for us, maybe because we're eating it as it is with no white rice and stuff, but it was good! Tender and flavourful 🤌🏻🤌🏻
Eh this one not paid review hor, real review frm real person k yumyum would come bck again hehehe
The warmest hospitality given by this gentleman serving at the store front. Gave a fist bump to him after a hearty meal. The cooling weather is the best when consuming their claypot, doesn’t matter it’s their signature or normal claypot, both tasted good.
Ordered their signature Thai wonton mee and gotten a few add-ons side dishes with a bottle of soda water to finish off the dinner of the day. They will serve the hot claypot and drinks to you while you will need to collect the rest of the dishes you ordered.
With that, the overall rating for each category as follows:
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Food selection: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hospitality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price: 💰
Will definitely go down again for the food.
Cheap and cheerful! If you have to choose only one thing to order, pick the isan spicy crab claw meat fried rice!!! It is amazing!!! Surprisingly, the signature claypot tomyum mama, also its namesake, is pretty average only. The yaowarat glass noodles with prawns was rather flavourful and full of big prawns. Worth a try if you like prawns. There were a lot of students from nearby schools here probably because they have special student & NSF set menu at only $7.90 NETT. Definitely a place I'll return to again!
Affordable place for dinner (or lunch). Sides and drinks were very good. I think the pad thai was average at best. They also had their signature pot where you can customise the tom yum's spiciness and sourness. Worth trying at least once.
If you love tomyum, this little shop has some good tomyum variations, but their tasty ‘bomb’ is the fried chicken wings that they make… amazing.
When they are busy, it’s hard to walk around to the back where ‘self service’ is expected, occasionally they do help bring it to you.
Not much ambience here if you’re dating as it’s quite noisy when everyone is talking and laughing, but otherwise, it’s a returnable place. Enjoy!
Must Try Place if you are fun of Thai Noodle. Can feel authentic taste. Must try is their Signature noodle and Crab Meat Fried Rice.
Felt like a hot bowl of noodles on a rainy day and this Claypot Pork Tom Yum Noodles certainly hit the spot. You can determine the spice and sourness level so mine was perfectly spicy with the hit of sourness. The owner was friendly and I would definitely go back again.
This was my first visit. I totally enjoyed the dishes we ordered to share. Good quality and delicious. Highly recommended.
Ahhhh ! Very satisfied with the food and the service . Definitely a place to come back again to try their other dishes ! Aye , their chilli dont mess around with it if you cant take spice! It's a blast to past , goes well with the moo ping I had .
Just the suggestion if the moo ping could have been a little bigger. Nevertheless it was really good and tasty ..
Suggestion
: come in expecting to be serve good food and friendly staff . Keep a look out with the young chap with the golden hair . He makes you feels very welcome 😄
Eat And Be Merry
Perfect spot for Thai food lovers. The portions are great, and the prices are affordable. The service was top-notch too!
Decor is nice and funky. Lots of murals on the walls. Love the furniture. Food is okay, spicy and full of flavour. Good meal offer for school kids and NSF's. Will surely be back for more.
Value for money place. We tried Basil fried rice, pad thai, green chicken curry.. every dish tasted nice. Even the drinks n desert are worth a try. Recommend this place if you are craving for thai food. And last but not the least ambience is quite good. Happy Eating 🙂🙂🙂
We chanced upon it and thoroughly enjoyed the food here.
Ordered the Tom yum pork mama, crab meat fried rice, fried fish sausages, fried wanton, Thai milk tea and lemongrass drink.
Overall ambience and vibe was good. Looking forward to trying the other dishes
Be prepared for an unique dining experience at Tomyum Mama. Excellent service and authentic Thai food at reasonable price. Have tried their Thai fried rice with Wagyu beef, Thai Wanton noodles = only one word to describe, Tasty. A shout-out to the host, who is always friendly and approachable. *Thumbs up. =)
*Update on 6 Mar
They have recently did some minor renovation to the shop and it is much more spacious now. Experience pure awesomeness with their signature Wanton Noodles. 👍
I love how the broth was, it's so creamy thick with the spiciness with some meat ( roasted pork, slice pork, mushroom and homemade pork ball) not to forget their onsen egg for perfection too!
You can even customise the "spice" & "Sour" level on your own too.
For me, I just add a side dish together!
• MooPing pork (2pcs)
• Fried waton (4pcs)
Really love the food here especially the MAMA FRIED CHICKEN WINGS!!! It is damn tok kong!!! Super delicious!!! The dry wanton mee also very good.
And the Ah Beng uncle with mohawk is like a mascot of the shop!! Super friendly and always so happy to guide people on what to order. 5 stars for the food and 5 stars for the ah beng uncle!!
Average Thai themed cafe offering food like paad Thai and Tom yum noodles. They sell dishes as well. Ordered the Tom yum clear noodles which costed around 8+ and the portion was just okay. Loved the pork balls though, quite nice. Other than that things are pretty average.
Love the food and atmosphere (when not crowded). However, 'bouncer' at the front of the eatery is too aggressive, makes the dining experience very uncomfortable:(
Other than that, would recommend for the quality food.
Ordered food delivery for lunch. Food and drinks (thai milk tea and lemon tea) were pretty good but the food delivery pricing was quite ex. Had the thai basil pork rice and signature tomyum mama noodles that comes with seafood and meat! Guess it would have tasted better if we ate at the restaurant too. A great supper option as well.
Very nice and authentic Thai food they have!!! Fried egg salad is the killer, super love it! Their tom yam noodle is super yummy too :)
The signature Krapow Moo Grob with rice & Onsen egg is better than anything I tasted in Thailand. Amazing Thai food & amazing service.
Their signature claypot tomyum mama noodle quite tasty and authentic. Can choose different spicy level. original spicy level is mild spicy.
Piping hot claypot tomyam noodle. Ordered regular spiciness, sourness. Not bad, tomyam a bit sweetness side. As for Red ruby dessert is nice, but it would be better if the shaved ice should be finer
Located at upper Thompson area, very easy to find. Food are pretty good and serving fast , love their claypot mama noodle!
I have wanted to try the Issan dish but they ran out of the special chilli mix. This was not a disappointment as I got to try the ubiquitous Phad Kra Pow and Moo Ping. BOTH WERE SUPER DELICIOUS! 😍😍 I was on such an all time high that I quickly ordered the legendary Tom Yum MAMA to wrap things up. I must say that their Tom Yum is very tasty and balanced albeit a little sweeter than most versions I have tasted. All three dishes were very impressive and I will be back to try the Issan dish again!
*UPDATE* 28 March, Sunday 11.05 am
The first customer of the day! 😅 Must try the Issan Spicy Crab Claw Fried Rice! I was really anticipating this goodness and had to be there early! Verdict - it lives up and exceeds all expectation! 😍😍😍 There are chunks of crab claw meat scattered throughout the fried rice lending the dish a delightful meatiness. What's really memorable for me was the balance of taste - savoury, salty & sweet (sour if they have provided the chilli vinegar!). While the presentation was subdued, the punch of the wok hei and the deliciousness of the dish well compensated that.
Definitely worth a visit. Again! 😊👍
Signature claypot with seafood. I like that they allow customization of spicy and sour level. Level 1 spicy still got kick 😋 I enjoyed all the ingredients except the lean pork (got a bit of smelly pork taste). Prawns are fresh! Peeled them straight off the shell easily. Scallop and little octopus are good additions! Pork patty and Roasted Pork are good too. Mooping satay is yummy too. Green milk tea taste good too, the tea taste is gao 👍🏻Satisfied my tomyum mama craving.
Affordable and yummy tom yum mama! Thai milk tea was great too - what’s the best I’d say is the service and friendliness of the staff :))))))))))))
The food is dam nice, service was good, the person there looked dam fierce at first but was actually very nice.he recommended the chicken wing which was dam good and gave my friend a thaimilk tea free of charge.
Love their wings and red ruby very very much! A must try! Only sad thing is their signature tomyum mama is not the best I tried in Singapore. Don’t have that mama noodles kick. I will be back for more!
We ordered regular tomyum noodle ..Put too high expectation on it , the tomyum taste is normal I think is the same brand of the TOMYUM MAMA instant noodle that selling in NTUC (I could even cook myself in house I think 😅) . Price is cheap , no tax no service charge .
Was looking for a place that took cashless payment at 10pm and I'm so glad the staff walked up to me at the door. He was of great help! Food didn't take long to arrive.
Generous serving, tastes great, and there's a 10% off for takeaway! Do patronise if you can.
If you love spice, really spicy and "garlicky", this asam seabass is a must try! Super crispy to the bone and amazing flavour when it hits your tongue!
Loves their tomyum noodles the most. Their tomyum’s spiciness and sourness is towards my liking. It was the best in the town.
Friendly cosy place well ventilated with great service and super value lunch set! We chose the olive fried rice ($7.90), came with Thai milk tea in a Mason jar (topped up pearls for $1 extra), added another side + dessert of the day for $2.90. We chose the split mid wings which were so well marinated, crispy and addictive! Dessert of the day was creamy coconut ice cream topped with fragrant chopped peanuts! Yummy!
Decided to give this a try because the owner’s very diligent and welcoming!
Ordered takeaway and staff was very helpful with recommendations, even withdrew his recommendation of fried chicken wings because it would get soggy in transit, and recommended me something else.
Staff even gifted me a complimentary drink while waiting, but the service isn’t all that was good!
Definitely surprised by the quality and taste of the food, and excellent service from the staff and owner alike.
This was definitely worth the 30min trip. Will be back. Thanks for the great customer experience
Great and affordable food. Service is getting better with time. We eat here more than twice a week. We always order tomyum, red or clear. No service fee and GST, too!
Long long time no eat this tomyum mama d... The uncle there still so cute and fish sausage JENG yixia
The wanton mee is a must have. Like Thai style, you add your own chili sauce. Be careful of the spicy chili. They’re not kidding! Good value for money. Was recommended the chicken wings but will try next visit
Very good and economical food. Portions are reasonably big. Must try: their original tom yum seafood soup and fried chicken wings. Highly recommended.
The food was very good, even eating it again at the same time. I was struggling with the spiciness after taking too much chilli and drank from my ordered drink and a milo packet in my bag, instead of scolding me for bringing outside beverages, gave me a free milk tea! Would highly recommend.
Such a great and affordable Thai place.
I’m just gonna post some picture and let your taste bud do the talking
The claypot is just maggi mee with some pork meat.If they price it cheaper will be better.
Set meal for two. Added one soup and one pork dish to feed three pax.
Taste is superb for sure, return customer.
Given the number of Thai eateries popping up everywhere - there are two others nearby on Thompson Road alone - this wasn't terribly impressive. I went for a Crab Fried Rice and it had a spicy kick and generous generous enough portion (given it is crab) but I found the fried rice itself a bit too wet and sticky for my liking.
It's very down-to-earth pick up your own food order kind of unpretentious, so don't expect too much service and atmosphere wise.
Not terrible, but given the number of options nearby, I would suggest trying elsewhere first.
Ordered the tom yum noodles and pineapple rice. 2nd time i had it, and the noodles are still as yummy. Get it extra sour for the special kick. The wanton noodles I had the first time was not that good though; the noodles were good but the seasoning was bland.
The pineapple rice i had this time was really good, fragrant and seasoned really well. I was really pleasantly surprised.
We ordered the wanton noodles and basil chicken with onsen egg and rice, plus personal fave chai por omelette. The noodles and omelette were delicious albeit the omelette was a bit oily. The basil chicken could do with more fish sauce. Food is reasonably priced. The service is excellent and we were warmly welcomed by the host and his crew. Definitely will come back again.
My favourite weekend delight. Taste is very authentic of Thai food. Fish oil galore. The combo set for 2 is very affordable and filing too. Thai ice tea is nice too. Overall food is resonably priced for a restaurant and the taste and service justify it.
Pricing is quite reasonable for this hotpot mama. seafood variety is standard and noodles isn't overcooked.great for supper if you are looking for upgraded MAMA instant noodles style.
The store manager or leader was very kind and attentive, making it a store I would definitely like to visit again. The food is also really delicious! ! thank you very much!
The mama noodles that follow the thunder series from xhs are so ordinary that they can't be compared with amk's.
Thai food tastes really good, but unfortunately the portions are far too small. You could eat two of them, but it's just not worth $16.
Highly recommended
The price is very affordable
The food is very delicious
Milk tea is very delicious
Basil pork rice, baby kailan, and prawn cakes are 10/10
