Reviews of Tun Xiang
I was told to scan to order, but it appears that there was an error and I needed to order at the counter instead. There appears to be a dearth of workers to clean up the tables, and they missed my order, which means I will have to wait longer for my food to be served.
𝐁𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐠𝐠𝐬 $𝟏𝟎
- It comes in a hot stone so it keeps your food warm.
𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐢𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐩 $𝟏𝟔
- This can shared among 3-4 paxs. The soup is very peppery, so it would be a tad spicy. Pig stomach and fish maw were cooked perfectly to my liking.
𝐇𝐨𝐤𝐤𝐢𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐞 $𝟓.𝟗𝟎
- Lacks of wok Hei, not the best hokkien mee.
Not much orders but they can miss order in 1 table. Need to remind.
Sour Plum drink- 1/5 not real 桔子梅 is styrup
Hokien prawn noodle - 4/5 ( chilli - 2/5l
Fried chicken- 2.5/5
Oyster omelette- 1/5 ( far away looks from picture)
Pork rib with bitter gourd- 3.5/5
Fried kailan - 3/5
Food is really authentic & worth the wait. Quantity & price is reasonable. Satay is very meaty & tender. Very delicious. Worth a try.
Surprisingly good. And affordable for a eatery in a mall. The portions were small for the sides but delicious! The portions were quite generous for the mains for the meats and noodles. I ordered the regular noodles and an ala carte pork belly char siew.
Pork belly char siew was good. As expected. Sweet sticky chewy fatty melt in your mouth char siew. But was a bit too sweet for my liking. I prefer the Hua Zai coffeeshop one.
Roasted pork was surprisingly good. It's chestnut pork. And they cut into cubes which I like. Skin was really crispy and meat was tender. Good portion size for the noodle meats.
Ngoh hiang was good. Finely minced inside and crispy on the outside, totally different from Eats or Lau Wang. I like this better. But this is more expensive because they gave so few pcs!
Don't order the curry pork. They only gave 1 slice of pork?! And few pieces of veg in the curry. Not worth at all.
Har kiong chicken wings are good. Portion is 6 pcs (3 full wings).
Fishball soup was unique. Not bad. Balls were tender, and tasted more like meatballs than fishballs.
Ngoh hiang and roasted pork are the winners for me, with pork belly char siew coming in close.
This is one of my new found favourite eat out with the authentic and quality Asian style of cooking. Always feel comforted to eat here as it feels like home, with grandma's cooking method and love. I do hope they will always keep up the standard forever.
Fast to accommodate. Has a lot of promotions going on but still the quality remains.
A place that does only pork. It kind of meet my expectation and with reasonable prices. The pork's fat-meat ratio is awesome! However some pork were cut too thick, which made the meat hard and dry. It will be perfect if the meat were all sliced evenly~
The black and the roasted chestnut pork (can't remember what the exact names are) are damn good! The honey char siew is (imo) too sweet.
Oh! For the drinks wise, the nanyang coffee is damn solid!
Overall a place with good food! Will visit this place again!
First time having chestnut roasted pork and Iberico pork char Siew. It’s very charred but not hard at all. The skin is crackling crispy, one of the better roasted pork you can find. But the serving is a little small. The size of the bowl is slightly bigger than those hawker chendol. So a little pricey fmo. The curry vege comes with thick roasted pork belly slices. But not as nice since it’s soaked in curry.
*update - tried their kampong curry noodle last week. Super spicy! And noodle all clumped together. Do not recommend.
Pork w sliced cabbage: pork slices were too fatty, and there was a lot of pork lard, making the dish too greasy
Pig stomach soup: soup just tastes like pepper soup, not rich enough
Pig trotter bee hoon: flavour wise not bad, but pig trotter was mainly skin and bones w little meat. Value for $15.80 (50% off) but wouldn’t have it at full price
These are new dishes that I tried, I would’ve just stuck to the usual prawn mee, oyster omelette, and chicken if I could choose agn
Ordered 1 bowl of large Iberico char Siew and medium for take away. The meat portion are generous. The noodle texture was good with pork lard. However missing 1 element which is the Chili to go with the noodle. The Iberico char siew is to die for! Keen to try the siew yoke in next visit. Belly is happi and satisfying meal. Thank you! Keep it up
Last time is wanton mee now many variety. Yummy braised pork trotters. 😋😋😋
This place does chinese-style Iberico pork, as compared to their sister restaurant next door which sells Japanese-style pork rice bowls. We really enjoyed the roast pork here. The skin was perfectly crisp and the pork itself had just the right amount of fat. The vegetables were average, don’t think we’ll be getting them again on our next visit.
Tun Xiang Hokkien mee @ Tamp 1 is a game-changer! 🍜👌 The noodles are cooked to perfection, and the flavors are rich and savory. The prawns are juicy and fresh, and the chilli sauce with lime adds a kick that takes it to the next level! 💯👍 A must-try for Hokkien mee lovers!
The pig trotter beehoon is wonderfully tasty. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the Hokkien mee as it taste too white peppery.
The black pig charsiew is really succulent and tasty, coupled with the the japanese rice, the whole package is really well done. It also give a onsen egg on the rice. Can considee coming here again if got craving for tasty char siew.
Nice hokkien mee, only for dine in, takeaway cost 2x the price....
Nice food and affordable!
hokkien mee was nice, overall the dishes were nice, the soup was only filled to halfway tho, and it was a little too peppery. got the honey lemon, its refreshing. for takeaway, have to pay extra 50¢.
Food is ok but slightly salty especially the noodle. However, you will be shocked when you pay the bill and realised that the price on their menu does not include GST. And then they charge 10% service charge. With that, their food is considered pricey, $10.48 for a bowl of roasted pork noodle.
Good tze char, the food was not oily. Me and my wife enjoyed the food.
Food is below expectations. Ordered 5 dishes, all taste very normal, price is alright.
Very delicious food and affordable pricing. The promotional rate is very attractive. The auntie server also very nice and friendly. Thank you 👍
Excellent food, good service and dish recommendations. Simple , clean atmosphere with reasonable pricing
Food taste ok, and chilli placed on each table. So chilli lovers can serve themselves.
Ibirico pork taste well, not over salty, but much of the dish is fatty. Service to serve seems slow. We ordered another dish, queue was at no. 13.
Rice was ample and filling.
Jia you!
Har cheong gai is awesome
Pork belky is crispy
Pork collar meat and fatbjust melts in ur mouth
Here for the pig's stomach soup! would be great to reduce the peppery level as it is a bit overpowering but otherwise warms the belly especially on a cold wet day.
Edited: the only thing I didn't like was auntie said she could only give the $5 voucher for my successfully submitted review if I had given a minimally 4 or 5 star review. This makes all the other reviews submitted dubious haha. But I did give it a 4 star rating prior to being informed that only 4 star and above qualify for their $5 return voucher.
Delicious Pork Trotter with Fish Maw and signature Hokkien Mee!
Hokkien mee was good. A few suggestions for improvement.
Have different portion sizes for the hokkien mee (e.g. S, M, L) to cater to small or large eaters.
The chicken wings and pork taupok could also come in 2 portion sizes, to cater for the 1-2 paxs who are unable to finish a $14 plate worth by themselves.
Offer a lunch promotion for M-F, like a Hokkien mee set that comes with either 2 wings/2 pcs taupok and choice of drink.
Consider bringing back the hot drinks like the traditional kopi and teh, as your target market includes mostly families and the older generation. As overheard on a next table, “aiyo why the kopi no more…”.
Love the food, some nice new items on the menu too. We especially loved the hokkien mee!
But we do miss the noodle options and roasted pork that was previously offered.
the staff are very friendly and the food was served hot and nice!
food is affordable and of decent quality. order is served rather quickly. the service was better than expected, Dan took the effort to go round tables to get feedback of food.
Best Hokkien mee I’ve ever had in ages. With many hawkers slowly disappearing, it’s so rare to find something so good. Really wiped the entire plate. Wish I bought more.
Good service from staff, Dan. Food is good? Waiting time is ok
Hokkien Mee is my favourite as well as Service...
Fried stuff does not taste too oily
Upside Nice food but downside abit pricey. They have change the concept to the Hokkien delight style. No more roasted pork and Char siew. But the taste was still consider good.
The food are fantastic at reasonable price. The service rendered by Dan is excellent. Highly recommended to dine here.
Has their 50% promo for the fish maw pink trotters. Gravy is nice and portion for the discounted price was good.
Service and food were great.staff were helpful and friendly.
Food is good and decently priced.
We particularly enjoyed the roast pork and char siew.
Would not recommend the pao fan though.
The food is decently nice! Will come back
Their promotional dishes always blows my minds
Good and friendly staff.
Fnb is very good
