Reviews of Uncle Leong Seafood (Punggol)
The food served is very down to earth and price point is great! Portion and cooking style is very old-school zhichar style.
The restaurant has both indoor air-conditioned seating as well as outdoor space that looks out to the park.
Ambiance is very chill and laid-back. Perfect for large weekend family dinner gathering.
We were craving crabs and have heard great things about Uncle Leong - so we decided to give it a try. Absolutely no regrets!!
The shimmering sand crab was a clear winner. It was creamy with the right hint of pepper. And that chilli crab! It had the right amount of chilli so the sauce is not too sweet. The meat on both were juicy and plump. For the price we paid, it was truly worth every cent.
Kudos to the service team. Food was quickly served. They were always at the background, changing our plates when things got too messy and were quick to assist us whenever we raised our hands.
Will definitely be back for more!!
Decided to give Uncle Leong Seafood a try since someone has craving for chili crab and this restaurant is pretty close to my home.
Made a reservation in the morning for 6pm dinner.
The restaurant is quite empty when I arrived at around 5:45pm and we were given a table right away.
The indoor part of the restaurant was full by 6:15pm so reservation is definitely needed unless you dont mind sitting outdoor.
No complimentary water and they charge $1 for plain water.
The prawn crackers and wet tissue are chargeable as well.
They give 5% discount if you pay by cash.
The non crab dishes arrived quite fast. Around 10 mins after ordering. The crab dishes took longer (around 20-30 mins).
On to the food:
Yang Zhou fried rice - typical Zhi char fried rice with nice wok hei. 4/5
Garlic Honey Chicken Cube - sweet savory but I can't really taste the garlic 4/5
Salted Egg 'Nan ru' Deep fried slice pork - they use fatty pork belly and combined with the salted egg sauce, it's really rich and sinful. Can be cloying. 3/5
Chili crab - star of the show. Really like their rendition of the sauce. Sweet savory and spicy. I finished up the sauce with the fried rice. Crab is fresh and full of meat. 5/5
Claypot crab beehoon - fresh and fleshy crab. The broth can taste a bit bland compared to other strong tasting dishes but its nice and comforting. 4/5
Total damage: $276.90 ($168 for the 2 crab dishes)
Service is good, no complain.
Overall, I enjoyed my meal here.
Outdoor capark is more than enough if you come before 7pm. Sitting outdoors here is pleasant if the night weather isn't too hot, thanks to the ceiling fans. The indoor air-conditioned area can be quite noisy. We ordered their signature crabs, prawns, and fish, which older folks rate 8 out of 10. The staff are friendly, though they might be understaffed if the place is packed. I hope they can pay more attention to tables in the corners. It gets crowded on Saturday nights from 7 PM to 8:30 PM, so it's better to log in your crab order early to avoid waiting. Got GST and svc charge. Overall, it's a great place to eat seafood even for a big group of 10 to 20 pax.
Chilli Crab $108/kg. 800g~1kg.
3.5/5. My hands itch after touching the crabs. Only happens for not so fresh crabs(?). Jumbo seafood’s crab are much sweeter (in terms of 鲜甜). Also prefer jumbo’s chilli crab much more.
Scallop w tofu: 3/5. Tofu is good, but scallop is similarly not tasting fresh.
3 color spinach: 2/5. Putien’s is much much much better.
They charge $1 for a cup of tap water.
On the pricy end for zhi char. In general, the food is nice. We didn't order crab, though, as eating crab is quite troiblesome.
Local seafood zichar style restaurant, famous for the chilli crabs. My personal preference is their salted egg crab, and also their signature tofu. Those are the two dishes I always order whenever I visit this place. Overall an affordable restaurant and good for family gatherings, good to reserve before heading down during the weekends.
We went for early dinner so there was no crowd. Everything was good (service, speed and taste) but I didn't give this place 5 stars because I felt the red grouper was a little bland, especially when it was quite pricy. But would definitely come back again to try other dishes. The yam paste dessert is one of the best I have tasted in sg and the portion was good.
Love all the dishes, personal favorites was Claypot crab bee hoon soup and the fried deer meat.
Great food, service and venue
Generally decent food. The best among the dishes tried is the Guinness pork ribs. They are super soft and tasty. For this dish alone, worth 4-star. The food portion for the medium size dishes is not that big though. The pricing could be more competitive based on the portion served.
Came here with my family for dinner. I find the food is very nice. We had the crab bee hoon and I find it very tasty. Another nice to try dish is the Sunkist pork ribs.
If you are looking for crabs, look no further. This place has been a hang for me and my bro in law for many years now. As always, ordered the Shimmering Sand crab and Chilli Crab. A must go place for seafood lovers - and always great to have a pint while looking onto the waterway!
The yam paste, pepper n salt egg crabs are heavenly! The bee hoon is so yummy too! ❤️ Second visit to this restaurant! These pics are showing the first visit food ordered! ☺️

My family of 4 made a dinner reservation with Uncle Leong Seafood (Punggol). We were celebrating our son’s birthday as well as Mid Autumn Festival. Overall the experience was satisfactory.
Personal opinion:
1. Food -
a. We ordered 2 crabs - about 1.6kg. One was cooked with black pepper. This crab tasted good, full of roe. I mean literally so much roe. We were pleasantly delighted. Moreover this black pepper crab tasted very good. 5/5. The other crab was cooked in chilli. This one was just ok. Surprisingly it was watery. Tasted spicy and not sweet, like what we wanted. 3/5.
b. A medium sized Guinness pork rib. This dish was flavorful. We enjoyed it. 4/5.
c. A medium sized of Great Chives fried with salted egg. It was delicious, not salty yet fragrant. The texture was just right. 5/5
d. A small claypot tofu - this dish was not what we had expected. Only 1/5. Ingredients were ok but the broth was a disaster.
2. Environment - clean, no flies, tables spaced adequately. Cooling too. 4/5
3. Service- Prompt and friendly waiters and waitresses. 5/5.
4. Cost - around $298 (inclusive of tax)
Conclusion- Overall, We were happy with the dining experience. We believe improvements can be made.
Go
If you a crab lover, then you must come to satisfy your crave. Crabs are really good and many varieties of crabs are being served ranging from the Chilli Crabs, Black Pepper Crabs, Claypot Noodle Crabs, and etc.
You can call for reservation so that you need not to wait for a table. In here beside Crabs you can taste other seafood. There’s also pork ribs, vegetables and etc.
They are indoor and outdoor seating arrangement. I will highly recommend to come here for your meal.
Totally enjoy the crab here. Especially their shimmering sand crab which is my favourite. My family love their chilli crab. All dishes totally suits our taste buds. Definitely coming back for more.
Perfect place for seafood lovers..
Spacious. Hospitality is great! :)
Taste is amazing! And beer with sea food is always awesome combination..
Every dish was delicious! Good vibes when it’s cooling outdoors as well~
Great service. Very nice chilli crab here; decently spicy and not too sweet, and very authentically made. Great place as well as it's by the park with a river.
The 宫保crab needs abit more spicy kick. The rest are delicious.
Impressive! High quality ingredients. Local food very tasty. All staffs very friendly.
Delicious and generous portions even though they were written as 'small' on the menu.
One of the famous well known restaurants in Singapore, established long back. Uncle Leong seafood offers variety of food choices. There are couple of sea food choices. The price is a bit expensive though, compared to the other neighbouring restaurants by the reservoir side. The signature crab dishes are around 85S$ for almost a kilo of crab.
Located in and around many other restaurants joints, so don't miss to explore places around.
Brought my overseas guests for dinner. Total 6 guests. Table set up was good n food served was within expected time n service standard acceptable. The crab dish was a bit disappointing being a seafood restaurant. A bit pricey on the dishes ordered. Thought being a non fine dining restaurant, should waive the corkage fee.
For one of the best crab dishes in town, do check out this restaurant. Food was delicious, service was prompt, ambience was nice as well. Their signature dishes include the shimmering sand crab and the Guinness pork ribs - both are must-trys! Suggest to order mantous to go with the shimmering sand sauce!
Food is a little underwhelming. Fish and crab both not very fresh. The restaurant seems understaffed and they ran out of rice (only serving rice when we are midway through the dishes). That said the staff were friendly and can see that they are really trying their best to keep up.
All about the crab beehoon. My absolute all time favourite every time I want some crab beehoon. A little pricey to add $5 for soup and $8 for more beehoon, but maybe times are tough now.
Good fresh seafood, very friendly and helpful staff and reasonable price! Well worth it!
Have this Golden Sand crab at 0.9kg. The gravy is a combo of black pepper, sugar, cream and top up with chopped garlic. The taste is not as good as previously that I had some years back. The black pepper grain is too big for my liking.
The only great thing was the crab beehoon. Their seafood fried rice was the most disappointing dish, no wok hei, bland and pale looking. Everything else was average and you can definitely find better food that’s cheaper elsewhere. It was pricy as well, my family ordered the $598 set meal for 6-8 people but even the fish was so average, overcooked and bland.
Disappointing meal.
Food is great and service is even better! Nestled at tebing lane, its a great place to go to for dinner
Went over for birthday celebration. Ordered chilli crab and crab mee hoon. The crab was quite dry. Compared to previous time the crabs were much tender and fresh. Feedback to the waitress, and told us maybe the crab meat is natural stiff. Very surprised to hear this. Overall standard has dropped.
Fresh and succulent Chili 🦀
Everything ia nice . Abit pricey but quite worth it . Recommended
Great food and service. Even provided additional soup for my crab bee hoon when the soup runs out.
Uncle Leong no longer delicious as before. Especially service staff, paying service tax and feel frustrating when calling them to get a bowl of rice. We do understand at times manpower is down but the staff not even come over after acknowledged.
The crab really don’t play play. AMAZING great! I really want to com back again!
Ordered crab bee hoon and chilli crab with some usual suspects like sambal kang kong. The quality of crabs are good but the sauce and soup are mediocre. Prices are reasonable .
Have not been to this place for some time and decided to order takeaway as no dine-in is allowed.
They need to revamp their order system as it created a huge backlog of waiting customers. We had to wait for 30mins for our order to be done, even though we arrived late to collect our order.
Food wise it was decent but the crab wasn't as fresh as it used to be. Maybe because of the pandemic era. 🤷♂️
Food was good and great place for celebrations. After eating, they wipe the table and provide small plates for cake cutting.
Very nice set menu. Chilli crab is a bit tasteless but the rest of the dishes is great. Will return.
Came for the first time during the Good Friday weekends. Very crowded. Food was average. Baby squid was chewy and too sweet for our liking. Mee Goreng was terrible. Signature Hor Fun was cooked with Tau See, very different from most places. Service and hospitality was great.
The food is good and service is excellent! Will come here again if we have the budget or occasion! Even then, their fried rice or hor fun dishes are on average 5 to 6 dollars. Also very affordable. :)
OK food at rather high prices. They convinced us to order 3 crabs instead of 2 because the crabs today were smaller. However, the crabs ended up being quite big and we paid extra for the crab that we did not intend to buy. We stuffed ourselves to finish it. Service was kind of slow ard 8pm too.
Food is delicious. Sambal fried rice is really good. Unable to get reservation for 6.30 dinner but walk in at 6pm was ok. No need to queue. Crowd comes in around 6.30pm. Like the ambiance.
Love the chill crab and bee hoon soup crab.
My favourite crab place in Spore. Their price is average compared to places like mellben, and the crabs are definitely sweet and fresh. I love their 金沙蟹 and crab beehoon. But a note of caution, their crab beehoon taste pretty different fr others, incl mellben. So try it and u will know!
And i forgot to mention the friendly Uncle Leong and his son! Good service everytime (if only waiting time could be lesser)
Really like the fish. Crispy and delicious!
Food is great but price is on a high side compared to others with the same outfit. The pepper and chilli crab is good but those who can't take spicy, good to tell them to make it less spicy...
Wonderful food, even the non-seafood dishes were delicious (although a tad on the salty side)! Coupled with professionally warm service, it made for an enjoyable casual family dining experience with elderly family members!
Great food great service. Almost every dish is great. If we have to nitpick, it has to be the drinks are too small. But other than that great great great.
The mee goreng was fried with fishcake. A low quality ingredients meant for hawker centre. They should use fish slice instead for a restaurant. Taste normal, nothing special.
Nice food
Punctual delivery, food were still hot. The 1 kg crab was done right. The rest of the dishes are delicious too.
5 of us went for dinner and ordered the set meal with extra order of other dishes .. food wise can do .. nothing fantastic but acceptable.
Food is great and the crab is fresh. A little out of the way but fully accessible by LRT it bus from punggol mrt/bus intechange.
Good service, nice outdoor seating area, great food at an affordable price. Signature crab was banging.
The food was awesome and quality. A nice place to visit with family for an evening but do remember to book before going.
Taste was just normal, not able to afford the crab. Too expensive at $85 for 2 per. Anyway something for me to venture.
Went on a quiet Friday. Overall service and food are good.
Overall ambience and food is above average.
I visited with a local friend! It was a Chinese seafood restaurant! All seafood was delicious~
Sunkist chicken among them? It was unique haha. It was orange flavored chicken.
Crabs cost SGD 75 per kilogram. Picture 4 shows Jinsha crabs weighing about 800-1000g for 2 people. Recommended!
The crabs are delicious, fried to perfection and not too oily or salty!
The staff are quite friendly.
You can have a pleasant wait and meal
Both reasonable prices and delicious food
It is a satisfactory place.
The location is a bit remote
Other than that it's great.
Very delicious crab dishes, very delicious, and the outdoor dining area also has a very leisurely view.
fine
