Reviews of Uno Beef House
Fish and chips’ bread was very crispy and fish was moist, not dry at all! Chicken was ok, not bad but nothing special. Usual standard for western stall. Chicken doesn’t come with fries, only potato ball. Would come again if in the area
Moved to tpy lorong 1. Came for dinner on a weekday. About 10-15 wait for takeaway. Some famous food stall in the same coffee shop.
Fried rice can improve to be better
Ribeye steak + 2 bomb bomb chicken wings always my choice of menu! Awesome environment, not too hot even though no aircon. No weird smell after eating. Coffee shop staffs are very friendly! Superb highly recommended!
Ordered striploin for $16. Comes with beans, a fried potato balls and unique red wine? Sauce.
Beans is normal while potato ball is unique quite a plus and goes pretty well with the sauce. The steak on the other hand.
Excess fat and connective tissues are not properly tripped or treated which cause it to be very difficult to cut. Surprisingly it was easier to chew than to cut.
I am not saying take out the fat because that is actually the most flavorful part of the steak. The flavor of meat itself disappointing. It is tasteless like water. All its flavor profile comes from the cause. Ever encounter a guy who make life in gym his whole persona? The steak makes the sauce its whole persona. Whether it is complimentary or not is subjective it is a nice sauce with unique sweentness to it but if i eat steak maybe i am expecting a more savory and peppery profile. Yes there are black pepper underneath but that sort of clash with the sweetness of the sauce.
Doneness though it is probably the best of the hot plate steak i have. Many of the time steak on hot plate are overcooked but this is medium rare and stayed medium rare. Which honestly made me feel like the hot plate is there for aesthetic purpose rather than maintaining the heat purpose.
The skill of the chef to cook an accurate doneness steak is there but let down by the quality of the meat and somemore striploin is suppose to be the more flavorful can't imagine their tenderloin. Maybe cut on the cost of plating and getting better meat or better seasoning and use of beef fat to add beef flavor?
Ever since shifted to West side ,been quite a few years never had chances to eat their food. Yesterday come to eat and smile when I left.. it’s was really really worth it!! The amount of fish fillet was a lot. 👍🏻 The sizzling beef steak and their wings is a must to order!! And their mash potato balls is also their specialty!! 😍…… must come back eat again!!!
Always my go to steak and western store! Prices have gone up a lot over the years, but the food quality stays the same.
Their mashed potato ball is a must get.
Boss is also always very friendly!
Haven't been here since they shifted. However the place still same as what I remember. Ordered the ribeye medium and still as good as last time, on point and not dry. Because it's served on hot plate, I will flip the steak once it's served, then 30secs later flip again. Do it 1 more time which by the time all the sizzling done and it's right to be devoured. See my last photo how it turned out.
Chicken Cutlet
🍜 Food wise: Fries were hot and quite well salted. The cutlet was tender, well marinated and well fried. The lemon was interesting as it gives the cutlet a more refreshing taste.
This is surely one of the comfort food.
Side note, their steak smells really good!
✨ Ambience wise: Coffee shop ambience
🤵🏻 Service wise: Uncle was friendly!
💵 Price wise: $7.50 for this plate of goodness.
This place is another great find in Singapore! It’s a Singapore “Western” food stall, so you will find steak, fried chicken, and various dishes for the “western” palates. Now you m not a fan of “Western” hawker stalls and have tried a few, but this place blew me away! Their fried chicken wings were delicious! The batter was nice and crispy with the flavor that outshines KFC. I wish they had spicy!!! Their steaks were nice and tender. Great deal for the price I paid! Be sure to order it rare because when it’s served on a hot plate, the steak will become medium. Also, nice touch in the mashed potatoes. They are served in the form of deep fried balls. Overall, I will definitely come here again!
Visited twice in a week, skip the pork chop (also included in mix grill), too hard. Chicken cutlet ($7) and sirloin steak ($12) were good value for money. Fried chicken wings had nice crunch, worth a try at $1.50 per piece.
A very popular western food stall that has been serving unique and tasty dishes for 30+ years in Toa Payoh. Fried rice is made very well with cubed chicken ham and vegetables, with toppings of fried fish, chicken chop and others. Steaks are authentic and priced reasonably, too. My favourite western food stall for over 20+ years.👍😘
$21 for tenderloin that comes with beans, a slice of tomato and potato croquette. Not bad for a neighborhood stall.
UNO BEEF HOUSE is located in Toa Payoh along Lorong 5 Toa Payoh, at a coffeeshop under a HDB. Carpark is just beside the coffeeshop.
Beef Spaghetti ($6.00)
It was a spaghetti that was full of unpleasant surprises. The spaghetti tasted too soggy while the tomato sauce did not stand out. The real surprise was the mined beef as they felt like normal bolognaise. The beef was not unpleasant tasting but was just not outstanding from recommendation. Just a plate of tomato based sauce pasta with a touch of minced beef.
Mixed Platter ($12.00)
I went for the Mixed Platter which includes chicken chop, pork chop, bacon, ham, egg, fries, baked beans and a garlic bread. The pork chop was the only disappointment as the meat was dry, tough and was not well seasoned. On the other hand, the bacon was very flavorful and was crispy with a slightly charred side. The sunny side up egg had a really runny yolk which we gladly mopped up with the crispy garlic bread.
Bacon & Egg ($5.50)
Another friend went for the bacon as he could not resist, when the point was for him to try the pasta. Bacon was rather salt to have too many in my honest opinion but it was to his liking. It comes with two eggs, baked beans, garlic bread, coleslaw & fries. Nothing really fanciful about the dish. Probably something that would shine better for breakfast rather than lunch/dinner for the usual patrons.
Didn’t order the beef. The pork too tasteless and hard. Fish abit soggy not crispy. Chicken chop still ok. Overall will not come back here again. Tried their food 3yrs ago and I rem it’s much nicer. So I would say their standard has dropped quite abit.
First time to the new location since they moved frm TP Lor 5. The food is still good as before. Yummilicious 😘
Great taste local western food at heartland price.
Ribeye steak & potato ball must try!
Portion for me a little bit small.
Uno’s The Place when you’re craving for steak and stays in Toa Payoh. Price definitely gone up due to inflation but you still get that sizzling hot plate served. Potato ball as I remembered.
Fish & Chips @ uno beef
sounds ironic? so yeah, ratings base on their fish & chips, have yet tried theur other dishes.... one can only eat so much at a time, a pity
their fish are those standard frozen sutchi fillets, quite well done and pretty tasty.
i suspect that the batter they used for their fish are likely to be the same used for their chicken wings and cutlet, not complaining as it taste kinda good
the coleslaw taste great, btw. can't say the same for the garlic bread which is definitely stale
would come back and try other items on their menu
Been eating at Uno for years. They were previously at a different location and I thought they closed down but nope, they reopened near CHIJ Toa Payoh!
Everything is delicious on their menu!
It serves mainly western food at an affordable price. Previously the steaks came in big portions, but shrunk over the years... more like kids meal nowadays! updated*09/18 price went up again... Chicken cutlet($7.50) portion getting smaller... haiz...
Good food. Simple fair but yet comes with heart kind of western food.
Will be back for a shot at the steaks.
Cheers.
Black pepper chicken chop was delicious! Chicken tasted really fresh and the potato ball is pretty interesting. Will come back for more!
The items offered are very much value for money without compromising on taste.
The chicken chop with fried rice includes a sunny side up. Chicken chop is flavourful and juicy while the fried rice has an old-school taste to it.
The chicken wings are crispy and delicious too.
great beef! Really good tasting coffeeshop hot plate steak. I'd come here over Jack's Place! Recommend the rib-eye!
So far still the best steak in the neighborhood. Must also try their coleslaw & their mesh potato ball!!!
Sirloin Steak for dinner, last tried almost 2 years ago, good quality at reasonable price. Order a plate of rice to go with it, reminded me how I had steak in Japan.
Despite moving to a new location, the food taste remains good.
Keep it up
Old school style, uncle and aunty sort of business. Their signature plates of steak are served on sizzling hot plates. Prices are fairly reasonable given today's inflated market, whilst your food is served direct to table, unlike most stalls these days who utilise buzzers instead. Adds a touch to their service, on top of their warm demeanour and friendly staff.
Atmosphere wise, well, it is a coffee shop. and in one of Singapore's pioneer housing estates. and its next to the open air carpark.
One of the best neighborhood western food stall. Followed them from three locations in Toa Payoh. Son of the owner is now running the show and very customer oriented. I loves their butter whipped potatoes besides their lovely main courses.
Their food was actually much better than the usual hawker western.
The long line during dinner is a testament to that. The price was very fair as well. Will definitely go back again.
Good Steak, take away still taste good.😋
Good hawker western food - five stars among its peers. no wonder they have a 30 min wait time at peak hours.
had their chicken chop fried rice and ribeye - no complaints on both. remember to call and order in advance!
Food here has been consistently good since a decade ago! Beef sirloin and chicken chop are my top choices, the meats are always done well, brown sauce is tasty, sides like the fried potato ball and coleslaw are delicious too.
Cashless payments accepted.
Definitely will come back again
Sad to said it’s just a normal steakhouse in a coffee shop.
45mins of waiting time is way too long for a small portion of steak on a hot plate which cost $16 dollars.
The side dish only offer less then 1/4 of tomato, 1 fried mash potato and small portion of baked bean. If they change it to the bake potatoes with toppings + some carrots and broccoli. That will be better.
The only good point is that the beef is soft and tender.
Long wait for food.. don't be in a hurry if you come here... or don't come late on Saturday nights.. lights-off n no more orders being taken at 8.30pm.!!
Good food... can come again.. Great value for $$$..
Same great tasting steak as ever…
Their must try is chicken chop and salad, among the best i have eaten, many liked the beef steak but the lamb chop is thin and dry. price ranged from $7 and up, large lunch and dinner crowd, but now most just take away.
Next to it is a popular local dish fishball noodle, also must try. will review next time i visit.
Love the good quality western food here! They serve with a unique fried potato ball which is yummy. Young boss is very friendly too.
Yum yum. Not the cheapest but good value for money. 13+ for a good steak
Patronized this place for many years. Price is reasonable and service good. I love the beef steaks that are served in hot plates. Now the humble son took charge from his dad!
Very very nice chicken wings, never fails. It's a must order at this western food stall.
Variety of reasonable priced Western food items. Chicken to beef to fish.. Chops and cutlets. Choice of fries and mash potato (interesting mash potato looking like a breaded fried whole egg). Taste of food not bad for a coffeeshop setting place but dislike the slice of toast bread given. Convenient parking (open space) right in front.
Waited for about 30 mins. Taste not bad.
They server good beef steak on a hot plate, only problem is the location nit that convenient. The coffee shop looks newly renovated, its clean and nice.
Situated in a coffee shop. Been patronising this family-run Western food for more than 10 years. Love the steaks 🥩. Served on a hot plate with baked beans and a scoop of mashed 🥔 lightly fried. Meat and mash drizzled with their special sauce. Superlicious!!
Ample parking.
The Sirlion steak is decent. The location is easy to locate. Parking is sufficient. Nice place to have a good and quick meal. To skip the weekend crowd.
Went to check out what the fuss if all about. Ordered the tenderloin med/rare and it was buttery and quite good. Although the serving size was tiny. It looked like it was cooked for hobbits. The chicken chop on the other hand was mediocre and nothing to shout about. I guess if they are a beef house then stick to the beef. If you are looking for Kobe beef grade then this is not the place. If your expectations are low then this place might surprise you. Fortunately, after we done and only half full we walked over to Lorong 5 hawker centre to fill up since it was just a short walk away and lots more to choose from.
Even though I just passed by the shop without buying as i just had my lunch. I will give 5 stars for the smell. If only the owner Ric is there to serve me, I think I’ll give 6 stars because his service is top notch
Although this place is famous for beef, their fried rice with cutlet is not bad too. Old school batter cutlet makes it taste like KFC or better. Must try their fried mash potato.
Standard drop tremendously still edible. Taste ... a bit better than your average Western food store in kopitiam (no aircon). Cannot give points for ambience, price..10-20%hgher than norm. As like the rest of SG, non restaurant, they have a problem with when you ask for rare. Can only produce medium or well-done. They used to be able to produce rare properly but not anymore. If you are nearby, can go for it if you feel like eating Western. Not worth the trouble to travel there even if you are in toa payoh central
Reached at 8.50pm and the owner had stopped taking orders although they were still clearly plenty more orders to cook.
They prioritise online orders over dining in so just beware.
Black Pepper Beef Tendonloir $20
to be aware - the mushroom soup is campbell soup.
Decent offering of Western fares. Had the chicken chop and bacon&egg and both came with generous serving of sides. Went for Sunday lunch and it was surprisingly crowded.
Excellent food at reasonable price.
Strongly recommended.
And if the boss is not too busy, have a chat with him and preferably in Hainanese
The steak is tasty and the fried potato ball is an interesting twist! Easy to find parking. Price is competitive, located in coffeeshop setting.
Decently popular coffeeshop western stall that used to be located at Blk 51 Toa Payoh Lorong 6 some years ago before moving over
Nice food
A good place for steaks at a coffee shop. Always crowded and the place is quick small so prepared to wait for seats. The mash potato is a must try and a good selections of steaks.
Their beef steak, chicken chop fried rice, chicken wings are the best. Worth every cent. Would recommend this stall to everyone to try.
Food delicious and price reasonable.new location now accessable by mrt.coffee shop also has lots of fans very airy.
A good place for a beef steak in a neighbourhood coffee shop.
Succulent beef steaks are affordable prices
Decent food with decent prices. Beef steak was really nice. Juicy and tender. Overall, food is good.
The tenderloin was perfectly cooked. Great food! Pretty decent pricing too.
Great sirloin and rib eye. The other western dishes like chicken cutlet fried rice is great too.
Nothing to rave about, the price for the portion is okay, good thing is they have baby chairs I can use.
It's basically a budget Jack's Place. Which means it's good. Price is only slightly lower than Jack's Place though
Serve good quality fish & chips, chicken cutlet and chicken chop at very good price.
Really awesome steaks here but a bit pricey for coffee shop stall.
Food is nice though standards have dropped recently in 2016.
Cheap and good western food
Chicken cutlet is moist.
The standard has dropped
Delicious and inexpensive~worth a try
Nice beef 😋 👍👍👍👍 It tastes old and delicious 😍😘❤️😋💖 Hahaha 😆 I’ll eat it again tonight💖I even brought my own red wine to put in the kettle to say hello 😂😅🤣 🍷🍷🍷
