Reviews of Victor's Kitchen
The food here is enjoyable, especially if you don’t mind indulging in the pricey dishes. For a shop in this building and settings the price is definitely on the high side. The meats are hearty and generously portioned, though not as delicate or refined as one might expect. The service embodies the quintessential Hong Kong-style dining experience—extremely efficient but brusque, with little room for pleasantries. As for the ambience, it’s functional at best, resembling an air-conditioned coffee shop rather than a cozy dim sum establishment. One notable downside was the lack of spatial awareness: despite the ample aisle space, a middle-aged male server repeatedly brushed against my back while passing by, which was both unnecessary and uncomfortable. It detracted from an otherwise decent meal. Lastly, be prepared to drink a lot of water due to high content of salt (I suspect MSG) after your meal. Likely my first and last time there.
At first glance, this place seems a bit pricey given the modest appearance and ambience. But after further consideration, you get really good and solid authentic dim sum at pricing that is pretty good for the quality of food.
Similarly, the ambiance, curtness of some of the staff, and their insistence in speaking in Cantonese to people who obviously don't understand them makes this the most authentic Hong Kong experience dim sum place in Singapore. No need to book your air tickets to experience that.
All of the items I tried, like the King Prawn Dumpling, Seafood Golden Roll, Wala Wala Porridge, HK Style Pan Fried Cheong Fun and Iced Milk Tea were of very high quality and tasty. The prawns were nice and crunchy, while the pan-fried cheong fun was suitably charred and crisp with really nice XO sauce served on the side too. In fact, the milk tea is probably the best I've tried in Singapore. Only one item disappointed me, and that was the Golden Egg Yolk Lava Bun. The texture was nice and flowy, but the custard had a rather strong after-taste that is reminiscent of milk-powder which I've never experienced elsewhere. Fix that, and it's perfect.
Do note that they only accept cash and paynow. It's written on the sign board in front but I somehow failed to notice it.
A family run restaurant with a modest ambiance which serves fresh dumplings and accepts only cash and pay now ( not paywave or other cards). The food was very good, freshly prepared and tasted great. We ordered a range of dumplings, gai lan, rice rolls and we enjoyed it all. Staff were very welcoming and helpful with our lack of Chinese and steered us towards what they thought we would like. I thought it was a bit expensive given the location, but was happy to pay for the quality of food and helpfulness of those working there.
I seldom give 5 stars for food but this dimsum is easily 1 of the best if not the best in sg. What really surprise us this time is the egg tarts that jus baked. Omg.. its so damn damn good. All others is just as good as we had always eat.. the egg tarts this time freshly baked from oven is simply amazing. The salted egg York bao is also the best in sg.
Glutinous rice was dry and the rice was hard. The kueh skin was thick and the filling was tasteless. Very poor quality although the food was not cheap, about $6.50 each. Disappointed overall.
Food was delicious and value for money. Quite a number of employees were elderly. Was rather noisy during the lunch crowd. Waiting time was short. Will definitely visit Victor's Kitchen again!
I haven’t been here for several years, so I thought I would dine here again. What shocked me at first was the prices of the dim sum; they are now more expensive than I thought they would be. However, I must say that the dim sum tasted great, and the ingredients, including the prawns, are top-notch. I would come here again, but not in the near future, because of the prices that range between $5.20 and $8 per dish. Even the water costs $1 a glass.
Simple no frills dim sum restaurant that serves great dim sum! The 流沙包 and crispy vegetable dumplings stood out to me! Other dishes like Siew Mai and the fish porridge were good too. I went during Sunday so it wasn’t too busy and able to find seats
Ordered steamed rice with pork ribs and steamed siew mai which both were good, but walawala porridge was so so, not much tasty and little ingredients inside
Small joint with limited seatings. Crowded during lunch time. There were some dishes that I really like and there were some that I personally think could be better; the lotus leaf rice I feel that it is not fragrant enough even though they added lup cheong(Chinese sausage). The rice was a bit dry.
The chicken feet was tasty enough but could have been more ‘soft’ or tender. I like those feet that has the skin falls off the moment you picked it up.
The Siew Mai and Gar Gao were good. They were bouncy and I can taste the shrimp in every bite. Love that!
The chee cheong fun (shrimp and char siew) were soft and silky. Love that too!
Steam pork rib tasted good but i wish they had more meat on the bone.
I would go back there again to try the other dishes.
Service was attentive. Great recommendations from the staffs too. The service staffs were quite nice and friendly.
The cashier was a bit impatient, I could understand to take so many orders from so many customers were a bit challenging for her. However, it would be a better experience for the customers if she could be more friendly and cheerful.
The food was quite delicious. The “golden egg yolk lava bun” was really good. Simply heavenly. The fillings would ooze out of the bun when you opened up the bun. Just the thought of it, made me hungry.
The carrot cake was very traditional, nice too.
The porridge was quite tasty, but it was a bit small in size for the price.
Great experience!
Would definitely want to come back again soon!
First time visiting and was pleasantly surprised. Milk tea was very authentic HK style. Loved the liu sha bao and xlb. The dish that wow-ed has got to be the pan fried cheecheongfun. It had just enough wokhei & the accompanying spicy dip was amazing!
The dimsum here is excellent. We came here after a disappointing dimsum lunch upstairs at Peach Garden.
Their Spring Is In The Air Cheong Fun was delicious! The HK Style Ying Yang coffee/tea was top point too!
The staff was pleasant and attentive. When we praised them on the Cheong Fun, they were so pleased and ALL of them said "Dor Zeh" (thank you!)
Only downside, their shop space is small. Will definitely go back again!
All dishes is delicious 🥺
We ordered Fried Carrot Cake, Steamed Sqare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce, Xiao Long Bao, Steamed Chicken Rice & HK style Iced Lemonade
With me, Steamed Chicken Rice is best dish. I will back to try another for sure.
Price: 32,4$S (5 dishes + 2 drinks)
Lunch date with my wife ❤️ wanted to go to Peach Garden but she convinced me to try Victor’s kitchen. Glad I did, really nice dim sum and I am impressed with the quality and speed of service.
Loved the carrot cake and siew mai. The carrot cake texture was the smoothest and had a lovely texture. The accompanying XO sauce was tasty with the accompanying sauce.
Small place (saw 7 - 8 tables only, but can accommodate up to 6 a table, though 1 pax also ok), but kitchen dishes out above average fare. While menu might not be as varied in dim sum terms, choices avail were flavourful. The fried Carrot cake with 1000 island dressing (with goreng pisang style batter) was deceptively unappetising, but a must order. Chicken feet was well braised (meat was v tender and came off easily), although chill padi addition was quite spicy. The chicken glutinous rice was also a star. The garoupa congee is good to share for 2, but had fair bit of bones, so not suitable for kids or picky eaters. DIY order, cash payment only at counter upon order, so no svc charge here. Will be back to try others.
Some hits & misses...but that could just be my personal preference! Both signature & spinach har gow variants are very generously stuffed with juicy springy prawns! Eggs tarts are baked only upon order so the little wait is worth it. Also order before u finish your last piece of dimsum if u want to pack more tarts away! Carrot cake is not the typical firmer kind we are used to in most places so the goey texture to not exactly to our liking but the accompanying xo sauce is da bomb! Liu Sa Pau is creamy & rich; tip - prepare tissue ahead! The rest we tried are decent, nothing to shout about but the HK style milk tea is smooth! Overall a great dining experience which mimicks a HK cha chan tang due to the afternoon lunch crowd but service was still prompt and warm regardless! Staff were friendly and patient despite the crowd and are mostly all smiles! Would definitely come back again!
This outlet does not do the Main outlet justice. The display of the food is bad and also the guy whom was serving the dishes make me feel like
I am owing him a living. The 虾饺 is still as good. The 烧卖 lacks the topping as you can see from the photo. The 排骨 was too fatty. We liked the fish maw. Must try the 炖奶! Very nice!!!
Triedb this restaurant to compare the food standard compare to their other one. Food wise not bad. The "liu sah"pai was nice, still hot with flowy filling. Chicken claws tasted good and soft, chewy with nicely cooked vegetable base. Slightly ex prices. Not surprising considering the location.
Loved the porridge, steamed carrot cake and the glutinous rice. Ingredients used are fresh. The milk tea is very good too. Overall a 4/5. Not much of an ambience (typical Hk restaurant style) . Price is quite expensive... 4 dishes plus drinks will easily cost $25 range.
Dim sum was good but pricey. Worked out to $15 per pax for a 75% full meal. U probably would have to spend more to be fully satisfied. Food quality was good but relative to atmosphere and pricing, better value can be gleaned elsewhere. They don’t accept anything but cash (hmm I wonder why...) even thought they have an e-POS.
Looking for a quick dim sum fix. This is the place to go.
Friendly amicable staff, ensured our tables were clean.
We had beancurd skin roll, salad prawn, xiao long bao, salted egg bun, pan fried chee Cheong fun.
Recommend to try it!
Do note might be slightly expensive but I think it’s worth!
Food was good for sure
I particularly enjoyed their ice HK milk tea
Todays egg tart was freshly baked
It was buttery and fragrant and served hot.
Service during off peak was ok but when it’s peak hour, it can get unfriendly sometimes
The dim sum are freshly made and delicious. The menu is limited but the freshness is key when it comes to dimsum especially those wrapped with skin. Service was fast too as I went in the evening and there were only few tables occupied.
So excited to try this. 😍😍😍 yummy custard bun, har how and fu pi juan. The prawn inside har gow is very big 😋😋😋
- Food: one of the best dim sum joints that I can find in Singapore. I dare to say it tastes even better than THW. I recommend their steam pork ribs (very flavorful), fish congee and lapcheong with sticky rice.
- Price: it may looks high but it actually worths the taste and actually cheaper than THW as no service charge. They also accept Paynow, not just cash (though the sign at the front says CASH TERM).
- Service: aunty was very meticulous in guiding us how to order since we are first timer. Food was served promptly too.
- Ambience: it really gives a vibe like when you dine at restaurant in HK as you will hear aunties and workers speaking loudly in Cantonese in the kitchen.
Victor's Kitchen has been around for quite some time.. and we've been supporting them since they started at Sunshine Plaza (before the current and much bigger outlet at the same place). I think they've done very well to keep up the consistency in quality - their 虾饺,烧卖,鸡爪,流沙包 are always good.. 蒸排骨 was a tad disappointing - it used to be superb! But it remains a good alternative for dimsum when one feels a bit jaded with the restaurant/ hotel options.
It's been a long time since covid has started. The quality slightly dropped but overall it's still good food.
Having Tea Break at Victor’s Kitchen after a long break (lockdown due to covid). Food is still as good.
Just a small sampling of what I ordered
I had lunch here this afternoon. Waiting time is not too long, about 10 minutes. Their service is good and the server took time to introduce their speciality items. The porridge is really good.
However it was a bit disappointing that the prawn cheong fun is a not that warm, slightly cold. Hopefully this can be improved in future.
They accept only cash and PayNow. Nets and credit cards not accepted.

This restaurant specializes in serving Hong Kong-style dim sum. It is located in Chinatown and is easily accessible via public transportation. The menu at Victor's Kitchen features a wide range of dim sum options, including steamed buns, dumplings, and rice rolls, all of which are freshly made on site. The food is flavorful and well-prepared, with generous portions that are perfect for sharing. Must-try dish is the har gow (shrimp dumplings). It is a great option for those looking to enjoy authentic Hong Kong-style dim sum in Singapore.
Steam carrot cake is so delicious
Will come back for this
Delicious dim sum at chinatown point. Friendly staff and easy to order. Their milk tea is abit bitter but i like their dim sum. Would recommend getting their prawn siew mai and their lo mai gai. Can just ask the staff to provide you extra sauce and they will be very willing to help you.
First tried Victor's Kitchen all the way back in 2003 at Sunshine Plaza. Glad to see he has expanded while maintaining the standards he set all those years ago. The har gow (prawn dumplings) use very fresh prawns and every bite is a delight. The dumplings in chilli oil (红油抄手) could be a tad spicier though. Otherwise a delightful snack on a quiet afternoon
Every item that we ordered were delicious and above average in quality. Staff were very friendly too.
Reasonably priced dimsum joint, limited menu but all fresh. Tea selection is limited, this is not a place to linger but for a quick meal.
Decent dim sum - the pricey menu is commensurate by the quality of ingredients.
Will come back again.
The dim sum here is very delicious. Worth a try. Hong kong milk tea is always the must order drink!
Tasty traditional dim sum, and we have been going back for years. Milk tea is strong and tasty, and have always liked their specials which are original and incorporate unique but distinctly Cantonese flavours
Made a reservation and visited this branch in August with friends. It was our first visit and we enjoyed all of the food that we ordered. Service was surprisingly fast during lunch. I recommend the iced HK milk tea whereby the ice is served in a bowl to keep the cup of tea cold throughout lunch. The tea was fragrant and full of flavour. It was so addictive that I didn't want to share it. Food wise, order the the 红油抄手, xiao long bao, carrot cake with xo sauce, and bo luo char siew bao! They were all winners in our books. Overall, I feel that the price is reasonable for the good quality dishes. Will be back again!
Must try bolo bun, all dishes are nice and authentic
Just your average dim sum place. The milk tea was pretty good though.
Old school authentic good quality dim sum.
Very authentic Hong-Kong dim sum at affordable prices. No service charge too, but it is cash only. Try the lava bun and cheong fun both are excellent.
Food tasted great! Ingredients used are fresh and prices really affordable! Love the xo carrot cake and glutinous rice. Environment is kind of old school, but kind of loving that vibe anyway.
The dimsum are freshly made and soft. There was no additional charges. Although the menu is not as extensive as other dim sum placed but the freshness supercedes the variety. Service was fast as when I went it was only a few tables due to the current SOP.
Good har kou and some hong kong dim sum. Hong Kong porride. Order Pork Vinegar for take away.
Food was fantastic, the aunties and uncles serving us were more attentive than most places you go to and I absolutely love the 流沙包 here
Average dim sum. Ok service. I might have ordered the wrong stuff, so will give it another shot. But have definitely had better. Something to remember, they only take cash. No electronic payment options available. Not even NETS. No tissues provided. Water is 1$ a glass. Overall its ok. There are better options in Chinatown Point.
Love the dim sum here and reasonably priced. Highly recommended the shrimp dumplings, siew Mai and salted egg lava buns. This store really used solid and fresh ingredients. Awesome!
Dat XO steamed carrot cake where you can feel the actual radish slices is so good. This is probably as good as it gets for local "coffeeshop style" dim sum next to Swee Choon whose long sheeple queues have deterred me for years. The minus is that prices are high - just a hair below fancier dim sum chains.
Food was very bland. No sauces for the dim sum were provided.
My first impression is that the staffs are readily to recommend what to order. And they know their stuff. Very old school service team.
The food is satisfying, very tasty and authentic.
Overall, good service plus good quality food.
Ordered the fish porridge recommend by one of the aunties. Their xiao long bao is IMO, better than others. Albeit on the pricier side, but their servings are huge.
Nice traditional dim sum, cozy area
This place is a gem! Will definitely return with the freshly baked egg tarts, very tasty and value for money dim sum, and love the great service from the aunties!
Came here because heard so much about its Liu Sha Bao. Not delicous at all. Too sweet and Theres a layer of oil inside the Bao. Bolo Bao was so so too. Best thing I had here was the egg tarts. Disappointed. Swee Choon is still better and cheaper.
Dim Sum was great! I love the fried carrot cake with thousand island dressing! Porridge was also not bad!
One of the best dim sum dishes I had so far. Excellent customer service by jeabi who recommended the best. Coming back again!
A hidden gem in chinatown point - their salted egg buns are excellent!
Food is ok but standard is very different from original outlet. Disappointing :(
Fantastic dimsum at affordable prices
Come travel with your mother. Mom wanted to eat dim sum so she chose this restaurant. At first it was a bit difficult to order. Because the menu doesn't have pictures. There are English and Chinese. You have to look up at the pictures on the wall to see what each item is and then check out the congee menu here. They focus on eating it with century eggs. It's very delicious. The century eggs are not fishy. We ordered to share with two mothers. Eat with soy sauce and pepper that the restaurant provides. Season the saltiness to your liking. As for dim sum, full of shrimp, for dessert, order mango and pomelo, creamy and fruity, the taste is just right. Overall, I really like it. I see that more and more people are coming to eat here. The only downside is the location, atmosphere, old tables and chairs, limited space. If you're not serious, just come and eat.
I stopped by on a trip. First, check the menu on the table and pay at the back (it's a pain if you don't know this!). The atmosphere is very Chinatown-like, and the elderly clerks keep talking to me in Chinese, which is confusing. Victor's King Prawn Dumplings are full of shrimp and delicious, and Siew Mai's fillings are hand-cut and large, so it's completely different from what you get in Japan. I ended up coming two days in a row.
It wasn't as delicious as I expected.
The famous egg baud has a sweet and strange taste that makes it feel like a dessert.
I don't think there will be a second time.
The dragon fish porridge is very boney, the soup dumplings are too thick, the shrimp dumplings are hard to eat and large enough, the iced milk tea is really good, and the bean curd rolls are so crispy and fresh. There is no service fee! Summary, worth the money!
The one that is like a bajang can be used. But I'm so excited I'm blowing it too thick.
To be honest, the standard is very average...authentic Hong Kong food? Not even close...
