Reviews of Waffletown
Tried 2 value meal today. Curry sauce Fried chicken leg with rice and teriyaki chicken leg with rice. Each set comes with a drink but it is not butter rice as stated on their promo board. Chicken is crispy and tender. The teriyaki and curry sauce was a little salty but I quite like it but fried finds it average. For drinks, that comes with set meal, can choose tea or coffee.
There is no physical menu, and the wordings on their signboard is a bit small. It would be good to have a few paper menu.
Did not have waffle or icecream. Seems that the place does not smell like good fragrant waffle even it is called waffles town.
A simple meal.
Place is clean, air conditioner and has a hand washing basin. Payment by cash, grab & others.
The waffletown is now in the west coast and provides comfort western fried chicken done Singapore style. I particularly liked their coleslaw which seemed to be made in house.
Absolute delight! 10/10 would recommend!
Food is affordable. Chicken and waffle is a stellar combination, moist and juicy!
The twister fries tastes just like the ones from macca’s cny special!! Best of it all, it’s available all year round!
Arrived at 530pm. Already long queue Limited dine in area. Need to come with 2 or more friends to chope seat when customer leaves. Else no place to eat after u gotten your food. Same standards aa old place.
Minus 1 star for not enough table and seats
Managed to order at 6pm.gotten our food at 612pm
Family just had dinner at Waffletown tonight on 9 Dec 2023. In my opinion, Waffletown is by far, Singapore's best fried chicken place. When it announced its exit from Balmoral, my family and I were sad. We are very happy that it is back at West Coast. Chicken are served piping hot. Anytime taste better than any other big chicken place in Singapore. I note a 1-star rating given by one person here which is probably just his one time bad experience and his 1-star rating don't do justice to this humble yet tasty fried chicken. We have been coming here for our fried chicken fix whenever we crave for fried chicken and Waffletown has never disappointed us. I hope they stay in business so we need not settle for some sub-par fried chicken elsewhere.
Fried chicken’s as good as ever. Their business is good, so I recommend avoiding the lunch crowd mess. Most importantly, the seats are still the same, from Bukit Timah Plaza to Balmoral to NeWest 🥹. Compared to its previous incarnation in Balmoral, shop space is significantly reduced so seats are more limited albeit still sufficiently spaced out. Better to come during offpeak times to bask in the nostalgia❤️ (Drove all the way here for 🧇🍗 )
Their fried chicken is good! Crispy and juicy. However portion for the two piece chicken was a bit small. The mid-wings meal was much for filling. Mashed potato was bad but this can be changed to fries. Tried my friend's waffle too. It is good if eaten with maple syrup. On its own it just tastes normal. Waffle serving is small too for it's price. Overall a nice place for fried chicken and it has a very old school and nostalgic feel.
Waffletown has reopen at NEWest. Tried their signature Crispy Fried Chicken and Waffle Chicken which are both really good.
It's a pity that the restaurant is closing . But the food is nice and the staffs have been very patient in serving the customers and those who are still waiting in queue . Hope that Waffletown can bounce back again one day . 👍
I think if the waffle that goes with ice cream is yeast-based, it would be nicer. The rainbow ice cream is not milky but is water-based sorbet type, I prefer it to be like paddle pop bubblegum creamy type.
Still my favorite fried chicken since 1997! The mashed potatoes and salads are my favorite too! The fried chicken is always served piping hot! Chicken is juicy inside and chicken skin is so crispy and you will hear the “crunch” from biting it if you love old school fried chicken you will love this!
Priced reasonably; localised cafe with heartwarming menu full of comfort food. Reminds me of young times when A&W first came to SG... take a look at the furnitures & menu.... Waffles/chicken/sausage offer slight resemblance but of course with much more inclination to local tastes buds in terms of ice cream flavours; tea & beverages.
Looks like a retro fast food/ice cream place from the 80s/90s. Did not try their main dishes but the fried food looks good. Only tried they puppy ice cream with waffles. Good place for reminiscing about the times.
Overall a great quiet place for some waffles, ice cream and fried chicken!
Happy to have my comfort food back! Still remember my first order was junior cheese burger at Bukit Timah Plaza ages ago.
Had the waffles as I was in the mood for one..ask for less cream, wanted to taste the waffles itself..sadly even though it was crispy and fragrant (vanilla essence-not the best kind) somehow it was missing the "waffles taste" that I had when I was young. Those days waffles were fat doughy chewy and so delicious!. The saving grace was the rum and raisin ice cream that I ordered to go with it.
Came here after seeing some news about them opening a branch in North Korea.
Their burgers and fries are pretty good but their waffles are pretty 'meh'.
For a place called waffletown they have pretty mediocre waffles.
What a blast-to-the-past! The decor and experience alone makes this place worth visiting, but the food seals the deal and makes a trip even from the East worth it. I got the 2 piece chicken set and a waffles+ice cream combo. What's great about the chicken is that it wasn't too oily, yet flavourful - a balance that's difficult to achieve but Waffletown does it right and well (maybe they should consider rebranding to ChickenWaffleTown...!) The waffle was also great - a perfect pairing with the ice cream which is the old-school kind that most locals would know about and loved growing up eating it.
One of the best fried chicken in singapore. The waffles are great too
Old school style of seating. Fried chicken serve in perfection with mash and coleslaw.
Top up for the waffle+icecream ..
Or you can also add $1 for free refill.
Waffletown has reopened at NEWest! This used to be my go to when it was still back at balmoral plaza. My go to is the Super Value Meal which has succulent, juicy chicken and rice, paired with a fountain drink of your choice. It tasted as sumptuous as I remember! Good pricing aswell! Will definitely come back once in a while.
The Black chicken chop taste better than the rest, the staffs are friendly and pricing are justifiable.
Skip the waffles and ice cream. The chicken is SO GOOD!!
Service attention was good and food delivered to table.
Old school comfort food.
Reasonable price, portion is good.
We have been going there when it was in Balmoral Plaza before it moved to Newest. The chicken, curly fries and mozzarella cheese sticks are our family's favourite. The ice cream portion is really value for money too.
The new waffle town cafe has the same feel as in Balmoral. The menu is also similar; prices are almost the same, a tad higher due to inflation. Service was still good - when my wife dropped her fork, the counter quickly came over to replace it.
I personally feel that the waffle is better than A&W. We really enjoy the ambience. Its location may not be so convenient as compared to Balmoral. I am glad to taste the Waffle town favour, an old style fast food restaurant.
I have been WaffleTown fan since young, so happy that they still serve the best chicken, rice with onion (so yummy), the chicken is tender and juicy. I so in love despite I’m not a chicken lover, coleslaw is so fresh too, basically it is a worth traveling trip for us to come all the way from the east side👍👍👍👍
My all time favourite for crispy fried chicken!! It has this old school feel somewhat, maybe because the interior would remind you of a 90s fastfood joint. Next favourite would be their grilled sambal fish. Their burgers surprised me with their mix of juicy grilled beef patty with bacon strips and cheese. If there is stomach for dessert, finish the meal beautifully with their waffle and ice cream! A nice place for families, friends and casual dates :)
Old sch ambience with alright food. Feels like typical fast food restaurant.. As the name suggest, waffles are rather good.. Crispy outside, soft inside.. Those who dislike squeezy places, please avoid during peak hours.
Waffletown serves Singapore's best fried chicken, period.
I've been a frequent patron to the "American Diner" styled restaurant and always feel so welcomed by the familiar orange swivel chairs and their overtly saturated product photography of their dishes.
The smell of the fried chicken wouldn't make you feel sick or pukey like fried chicken places - in fact, it kinda whets the palette and makes you want to jump the queue just to get to the counter quicker.
Most people would definitely go for their 2-piece or 3-piece chicken sets that comes with a side serving of their mash potatoes, coleslaw, and a drink. However, to cater to the schools nearby and along Dunearn Road, they have their super-value meals that offer a variety of dishes - my favourite dish being the rice with egg and cutup fried chicken cutlet.
Don't forget their waffles as well, their signature waffles that can come with a generous serving of ice-cream (with flavours from your childhood - including raspberry ripple and mint chocolate) or even plain with just maple syrup!
The waiting time is minimal, even during peak periods, you can expect to get your food within 10 minutes.
Mini Trivia time: Did you know that the owner of Waffletown actually managed to get the rights to operate more than 30 outlets in North Korea? Talk about opening up the economy to western influences.
Waffletown is still at the top of my list when it comes to fried chicken and I don't see why it shouldn't be on yours! Check them out today!
This old school restaurant really brings back the american diner feel. The food was amazing! Had the sambal fish rice and curry fried chicken rice, and top off with a plain waffle dessert. Would definitely like to go back again!
This place will alwaya bring back great memories during JC days. From then till now, the flavour of the food never change. Food is good! And it's very good place for hangout with your friend. One of the affordable options too in the area.
However, the issue is always the ventilation. Every time you left the place, you will smell like a fried chicken. So be prepared.
Their fried chicken is really good, hot juicy and tender, rivalling another place that bears the name of a football-shaped head teenager, but cheaper!
I really did enjoy myself here and i reccomend their food to anyone who wondered if it's any good.
Old school diner feel. Like stepping back into the '80s. Popular for their fried chicken and waffles.
Had Chicken chop and fried chicken for dinner, still good taste as previous, worth a visit when you craving for chicky meals. Really hope they could open for lunch hours, definitely would attract office workers to come and eat.
Came here often when I stayed in the boarding school opposite. Always here for the chili fish rice. Spice level with the fish is just right and pairs very well with the savoury rice. The coleslaw cools the heat after. Only gripe here is that I wish the deco was less off-putting.
One of my family's fav go-to place for good chicken wings and waffles. Probably nothing here for those who are afraid of junk food. Nice simple environment. Clean and open space.
A so so place but if you are at Balmoral, you do not have much choice. Rating is based on their fried chicken. Nicely and freshly fried but more like a simple home cooked recipe.
I always go to waffletown, the service is good, the food is good and not very pricey.
Really good fluffy waffles (LOVE the syrup and butter) and crispy, juicy chicken. Simple and wholesome. Waiting time can be quite long though!
Nice old school feel about this place. Quite like the A&W of the 80s feel. Nice fried chicken and waffles. Worth a visit to savour the food and dine in retro feeling place.
I used to visit this joint when they were in bukit timah plaza. Very long history of 30 odd years. The seats look the same as they were back then. I think the food is ok, not outstanding, but I go once in a while because of nostalgia.
Awesome service, great fried chicken. Waffles could be fresher but it was lovely nonetheless. Love the atmosphere and general feel of the place!
The fried chicken is good.
Barbecued chili fish is my go-to order. Jojo fries and fruit salad go well with it. Fried chicken is good too.
The food so so.
kinda expensive
Great food, great uncle
Asian cooks who cook western food better than western company’s like kfc and other such joints
Unlike those places
Waffle town actually tastes good
Tried the burgers, not too bad. Good old school ambiance that reminds you of the fast food mom and pop outlets in the 80s
Great family style fried chicken. Was around since more than 20 years ago and still going strong 💪
Reasonably priced canteen quality comfort food!
Great selection of delicious food and good service. Nice place for friends to meet up for a meal too!
Reminds me of my childhood. Nice waffle. The fries are nice.
The fried chicken was done perfectly, crispy and light without being greasy.
Decent prices, friendly staff and tasty food. An old time favourite!
Tried the fried chicken and the waffle. Both are very delicious!
A cozy American-style diner serving set meals and waffle with ice cream for dessert
Most yummmmy tasty fried chicken. Must try.
Oldie but goodie. They make old school waffles, deliciously
Great fried chicken, although it might be a little small.
The people are nice and the price of food is reasonable
