Reviews of Wing Seong Fatty's Restaurant
Food was pretty good as a typical cantonese zi char option. The sambal kangkung was one of the better ones we’ve tasted although it’s a tad salty but aroma was good. Sweet and sour pork was decent too although I’d prefer to have a bit more fat in the meat they used. Home made tofu dish was alright only.
Aunty who took our order did not elaborate much on the taste of home made tofu until probed a few times. I also asked what green vege do they have for stir fry option, she did advise not to order Kai Lan as the stock they have is a bit tough for young children to bite, which I appreciate.
We only ordered plain water for our table without knowing it’s refillable. An old uncle who works there asked if I need to refill my glass when it was empty, to my surprise.
We referred to the dishes ordered by other tables, their stir fried hor fun, yam ring and black bean sauce pork rib certainly caught my attention. Will be back again to try them.
Considering the ambience, taste and location, their dishes were reasonably priced.
Overall, a pleasant dining experience for a simple weekend dinner with family.
Smokey wok hei perfectly fried beef hot fun bursting with flavor. The beef was not overcooked and the bean sprouts and vegetable stalks (chye sim I think) retain that juicy fresh bite to contrast nicely with the soft hor fun. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The hae cho is crispy on the outside and juicy with rough chopped meat on the inside..like homemade touch. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Service is efficient but ol school.
Every single dish is superb !! I thought that this is a tourist spot, but turns out the price very reasonably priced and tasted great. Four of us spent less than $100, super cheap. Will totally come again!
Curry fish head is scrumptious - grouper fish head was fresh and they were quite generous with the vegetables. The Singapore fried bee hoon was quite nice but the medium ($11) was quite pricey for the portion. The yang zhou fried rice tasted very much of the sweet black sauce that they used.
The restaurant serves Cantonese foods and is elderly friendly. Their food tasted good like a home-cook food and we were welcome by the boss personally into the restaurant for a seat and got to introduce their famous dishes. Definitely work the visit with family.
(NB: Photos taken after having some, as the cuisine were really appealing :p)
Mum, sis and I were drained after a long day shopping for sis' working wardrobe but we're instantly recharged and gratified after having piping hot and aromatic YangFried Rice, Yifu Noodle and Sweet and Sour Pork full of wok-hai, served by warm and welcoming owner and his crew, at Fatty Weng.
The fried rice was the best I ever had. It's always delicious either eaten hot or warm. The noodle came with generous serving of seafood and ingredients that's always fresh and rightly cooked. The pork was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. In short, the dishes were delightful to our palette.
I recommended having our late night dinner at Fatty Weng, not just because the other eateries were closed at around 8:30pm on Sat but because I'd been given several treats over the past decade by my best friend's family. I was certain mum and sis would be pleased to finally have a chance to patronise this legendary restaurant.
Fatty Weng had been in operation for almost a century (in 3 years). It's a family-run business that had passed on to the third generation. The owner and crew were like family, and they're always warm and friendly to their guests, both locals and foreigners of different ethnicity, making dinning here like home away from home.
The owner answered in predicament that he'll leave the decision to his offsprings when asked by a couple of Chinese tourists if the fourth generation would inherite the business.
I am certain many regular patrons would certainly hope the fourth generation will continue the nostalgia and warmth that differentiated Fatty Weng from other chained outlets or nostalgic Chinese eateries or restaurants that had changed management and lost their wistful charms. So, 加油啦肥仔荣酒家!
Recommended to come here by a friend in Oz. Dinner was to be for 10 of us but ended up being 12! No problems there. We left the suggestions on dishes to them. And we were not disappointed. Delicious food, prompt service and a great environment. Authentic, amazing Cantonese food. We will be back one day and pass on that recommendation! Thankyou
An established local cuisine (zi-char) restaurants in the Bugis area popular with tourists and locals. Ordered dishes with the aim of fulfilling protein needs for two persons. Food is flavourful and authentically local.
The food was really good, and the resteraunt has a lot of history behind it.. it's been serving excellent food for the last 60 years, and I am hoping for success in their future.
Been coming here for years and its a gem of a time capsule for my tummy!
Unpretensious restaurant serving good cantonese dishes.
Our favourite dishes are Venison with scallions & ginger; Sambal Kangkong; Home made Beancurd & Roast Chicken.
The Fu Yong Omelete and Fried Spring Rolls merit honourable mentions too.
Nice place to enjoy the old authentic Cantonese dishes at reasonable price. Free corkage. The service is good and the chef also give good recommendations.
Please don’t go here. I don’t want to queue for my favourite meal in Singapore. It’s all good food. Price isn’t cheap but fair and it’s busy every night so don’t worry. Great history surrounding the restaurant and owning family.
Heritage food! Clear soup N the prawns are huge!
Food is good
Worth it for the price
This is our regular restaurant for CNY reunion. Big portion, reasonable pricing and great taste.
Love their pig liver dish, cooked just right so the liver stays soft, not overcooked nor running red.
Sweet and sour pork is another favorite for us.
This year, tried their horfun and fried fish. Hor fun is cooked fresh, not precooked and refried. Fish is fried really crispy. Both were great tries.
Our favorite family meal. Must try this place for their heavenly Claypot Chicken. Accompany with some Chilli Kang Kong and Sweet and Sour fish.
Good local Chinese zhi char dishes. Had the pork fritters or ku ru yuk, half Chicken and chap chye. Worthy of a return trip with family.
we had done research before and worked out where this place was
so glad we did great food. Great price highly recommended
all of their foods were tasted a little bit too salty, but the service was friendly and the foods came out really fast. tables could filled up so fast too, so better to came before dinner time.
Quite pricey but decent zhi char food. Good to bring foreigners to enjoy a flavor of authentic Singapore cuisine.
Air conditioned section so it is conducive for weekday working lunches.
I always enjoy the good authentic Cantonese food in Wing Seong Fatty's. The price is reasonable and the service is good.
Indonesian beef and minced kai lan is nice. Indonesian beef is special. Will try the chicken option next time.
Had dinner over at this resturant couple of days ago. Service was really tip top. Can tell that is a popular spot for expats. Ordered half roast chicken which they are supposingly famous for. Besides that, ordered the kangkong as well as the thai style tofu. Food was average to be honest.
Good home cooked style food. Signature dishes are Indonesian curry chicken, home made tofu. The Yang Zhou fried rice is also excellent with lots of Wok Hei.
Very typical Cantonese excellence. Some how many foreigners like to frequent the restaurant.
Jelly with logan is very good.
We went here three times during our Singapore trip. The food was beyond amazing! It was great to visit the restaurant and learn about its history with Qantas pilots. Some would say a bit cheap in terms of dining arrangements, but it is an absolute hidden gem and must try when in Singapore.
We were walking around and came upon this restaurant. It was busy around dinner time, but we were able to get seated outside.
The dishes turned out to be very good. They were all flavourful, and the meal was a pleasant surprise.
Wing Seong Fatty's Restaurant has been my family restaurant for many decades. The boss and staff are super friendly and we became friends over the years. Their Zi Char food is really good and affordable, one of the best in Singapore! Highly recommended for locals and tourists!
Local family style Chinese. Excellent service and atmosphere.
❤️❤️Always love it here...
Always and I mean always, great food. May be a bit pricey in comparison, but well worth it. I love the Spring rolls, nuclear chicken (clay pot chicken, comes out piping hot), peppered prawns and the greens for a veg. I'm there every trip I make to Singapore.
Ordered through Oddle and there's no fuss. The food was approved by the family. I would say, this is quite not your common tze char joint. Great.
Chance upon this old name while looking for a great Chinese restaurant to eat. The food is really fantastic, the boss service is top notch and the price is reasonable.
My favourite "home from home" restaurant in Singapore for the last 28 years. Love the staff! love the food! Fattys is a legend in Singapore over 3 generations of outstanding food and hospitality. Outstanding value and heartening food that fills the soul.
Nostalgic atmosphere. Food is tasty. Limited seating within air-conditioned premises so be sure to reserve your table in advance.
Roasted pork belly and duck rice was good. Their stir fried beef hor fun is a must try
A very popular Chinese restaurant. Very good food. Service is fast and efficient. A popular joint amongst foreigners, especially Australians.
Had the seafood horfun and the sweet and sour pork. Portion and ingredients were generous! Very good food and service. Will definitely come back.
It’s very delicious.
This was amazing. Let the waitress decide for you.
Great service, great authentic Singapore food at a reasonable price. Very friendly and clean of course! The locals actually come here too.
Good food but staff very slightly grumpy hahhahah
One of the best spots in Singapore for a good meal.
Nice quality chinese restaurant. been around for some time
Very nice place to eat . The most nicest old lady servered us do meet her she's a very nice person to talk to and get recommendation. Very nice place very nice food and very nice staff
Very busy with locals so a good sign of quality. Good service great food, efficient service. Would definitely recommend it
Friend suggest to here, try chili crab, home style tofu, pan fried shrimp
Good restaurant
Going there for 1 dish only. Hor fun is the best. Frequented by many Caucasians
Excellent food. Decent prices. Long time favourites - prawn paste chicken.
Food is very tasty! The yam ring is very nice! Go during non peak hours.
Very possibly the best Chinese restaurant I have ever eaten in - and the staff were very friendly.
Average Chinese food service is quite fast so it's nice for a quick lunch
Nice food,great boss!Recommended!
Good authentic local Chinese food. Reservations is advisable for bigger groups
Staff aren’t the friendliest but food is ok. Casual.
Great food. The horfun is note worthy
Best chinese food in town
Wing Seong Fatty’s Restaurant, which I visited during my trip to Singapore, is a restaurant with a local atmosphere and is located near the Summer View Hotel where I stayed during my trip.
Wing Seong Fatty’s Restaurant is a Cantonese-style Chinese food restaurant that started in 1926 and is currently in its third generation. It is said to have become a restaurant loved by locals and airline employees around the world.
The air-conditioned interior seating is mostly large tables for large groups of people. So, in the case of one or two people, although there are not many people, it seems like they will be seated at an outdoor table.
There is also an opportunity to meet new people by sitting together at an outdoor table. During my visit, I also had the opportunity to sit, eat, and chat with two people who were visiting from the United States on business.
I enjoyed a delicious meal by ordering grilled chicken, fried rice, stir-fried beef with bok choy, and sweet and sour pork. I was able to experience China’s Cantonese food culture and taste at Wing Seong Fatty’s Restaurant. However, the waiters seem to be older restaurant staff, but they don't seem very friendly.
I went there after seeing it on YouTube and it was a restaurant that Chinese people go to.
I was embarrassed by the unexpected appearance of the cereal shrimp, but the fried rice and tofu were really delicious.
The price is not cheap, but considering Singapore prices, it is reasonable.
It's about a 5 minute walk from the BENCOOLEN hotel, and the food is generally delicious. Due to the large portions, it is recommended for large groups. We visited with about 10 people and the outside round table was perfect.
Cheap and delicious! I went without a reservation, but the place filled up quickly after 6pm. The older female clerk explained various things to me when ordering and was friendly (maybe because I had children with me?) I ordered roast chicken as it seemed to be famous, but since there were only two of us, it was quite a portion...and tasted great. It's so simple that it gets boring. If you have a large group, this is possible, but if you have a small group, we recommend ordering something else. (The other ones were delicious) The pork with barbecue sauce was definitely delicious, and I couldn't finish the chicken without it...I want to come again.
06-Sep-2022…checked in, the clay pot was changed to a larger one, the product is genuine and the price remains the same😘
Still the best claypot fish head in town…ever so consistent in both taste, presentation and most importantly…complete ingredients of what authentic claypot fish head must have 😋😋😋
Delicious and friendly
Good genuine food at a good price class but served in plastic plates fast serving but took time to pay but recommended for tourists who want to try good genuine food
A place where you can enjoy delicious food and have a good time with everyone you want to be with~~♡
Chinese family restaurant that we ate at twice because it was located near our hotel. Practical and functional restaurant, where the food is good and without fuss. The casual setting and quick service are perfect for a quick and efficient lunch. The restaurant is frequented mainly by Chinese, and the staff speaks English quite poorly.
Food suited to Korean tastes!! Chili shrimp may not be as good as you think.
Very good dishes, very friendly staff.
Be careful, noisy room
