Reviews of Yaki Yaki Bo (NEX)
Served by Eileen today. Her customer service attitude is excellent. Martin is our chef and also performed well. His cooking is liked by my kids too. Keep it up !!!
To be honest, the ingredients were fresh, and service was good. I was there on weekdays around near to 9pm. Me and my wife were actually very hungry. We ordered their "Parent Set Meal." The taste of the food just so so, lacking strong favors and taste. Both me and my wife feel it the same. We think the food court tappayaki tastes much better. Different people have different taste bugs. Overall, it is just a normal cook food with nothing WOW factor on it.
Service:
+ We are usually one of the last few diners before the shop closes, however we never felt rushed.
+ The waiters and waitresses, cashiers, and chefs are all very friendly.
+ The restaurant offers free appetizer and dessert.
Food:
+ Delicious, especially the omelettes.
+ The teppan banana ice cream is my favourite
The variety and quality of the food was great. And the prices were reasonable and affordable. After the end of your meal, a shot of yuzu is given as a palate cleanser which was very refreshing. Fret not about your clothes or yourself smelling oily or smelly, as the vents are strong to absorb all the smell. If not you could opt to sit away from the teppanyaki tables.
The service was good and the chefs are skilled and professional.
The restaurant is clean and the vibes are cozy.
Great service from Eileen and tasty food made by Mr Hwa! Probably my most favourite neighbourhood teppan restaurant around, been here 5 times and counting now
Ordered their Parents Day Beef and Seafood set meal (~$70 aft GST, Svc Charge) which consisted of 180g beef, 4 scallops, assorted vegetables, 2x Truffle Chawanmushi, and 2x Rice.
It's on the pricier end but, the type of meats you get are more premium as well. Can say that it's enough for 3 pax.
Chef Jia Wei was quite fast with the food but, it'll be good if he were to let us know when he was cooking our food, so we could maybe give input to the cooking (e.g. less oil, more spicy, etc.)
Waitress Eileen was very friendly and was attentive to the various patrons there.
Improvements:
Will be good if there's an option for brown rice
A few days back, I went for dinner. The service wasn't so bad, but they forgot to serve our ocha until we asked them.......... the food was serve quickly. I order the agertina beef set, the mushroom and the mix veg taste great but the beef wasn't that impressive. I hope they can improve on their sauce. The onion Chawamushi is just so so. However I do recommend the garlic rice. The desserts wasn't that great either.
The complimentary is just one extra point. But I do hope they can improve on their flavouring and their seasonings.
Had the okonomiyaki for reliving the taste. It's was just OK. The grilled cod was good. Going along with garlic fried rice and chawanmushi set top up. Those were just ok as well. They do a nice yuzu sorbet to end with.
Wonderful service from Eileen and terrific food from Chef Martin, it's been awhile since i had teppanyaki and Yaki Yaki Bo did not disappoint. Price is fairly reasonable, clean and cozy atmosphere, would come back, keep up the good work team 👍
What a finest Japanese restaurant. As always the culture, customer service and needless to say about food are all mind-blowing. Great ambience where I saw my dish cooked in front on a hot plate. Beef with garlic rice super combo ♥️♥️♥️. Thank you. Great 😃.
The food was decent and the f&b crews were nice too. Chawanmushi is quite unique because it's in an onion bowl. Okonomiyaki and bean sprouts is good, while Egg Fried Rice is too wet, and Garlic Salmon tastes normal.
Came here with friends and had a variety of dishes, including squid, chicken, pork, beef and hamburg. Pork was very nice. Chef Jia Wen was charming and skillful in his knife manoeuvres. Worth a try! The food was good but the company was better.
My wife, little boy and I had our first dining experience here yesterday. The staff and even the chef were all super super nice. The food was really yummy and also the yuzu drink at the end was perfect..
We be back again soon :)
The food as slightly elevated from the usual food court experience but it comes with a price!
Bean sprout to cabbage or mushroom at an additional cost.
The base price is slightly higher than food court but the disappointing thing is the taste didn't taste as good as food court.
Their base cooking sauces is butter and garlic where the food court are always black pepper.
I paid average $30 a person at this place and is something I will consider not going.
Our first visit here. We ordered the CodFish which was especially nice and refreshing. The Japanese Mountain Yam is unique and nice too! Special shout-out to Eileen for her fantastic service.
Takes quite a bit of time to queue, and quite some time to get the food once you ordered it.
Online menu just links you to a pdf for a soft copy of the menu, and doesn't allow you to order online. You need to call out for the staffs to order.
Ribeye beef sirloin is fatty and chewy. The sprinkle of fried garlic gives it a garlicky taste. Very nice. Just portion is a bit small.
Okonomiyaki vegetables is slightly raw and hard, but tastes okay.
Potatoes taste really very nice. The eggy smell makes it taste really good. Love it a lot! But can't really taste mentai sauce though
Overall, the price is a bit steep for the portion. But considering that this is teppanyaki style, it is expected.
We sat infront of Chef Hwa and it was so satisfying seeing him cooked our food today!
And thanks to Eileen for the wonderful service too
Tepanyaki in a HDB Heartland Mall at NEX. Good basic teppan chef cooking - no fancy tricks like tossing the eggs, flaming steaks.
This is Japan foods style.. Me & my wife try 6 dish today. The price of the menu start on 7 dollar above. I can say the price is consider in the middle(my bill is roughly 78.9 dollar | so try to eat at this place after you get the salary ya^^.. My favorite foods in here is mentai okonomiyaki, after that spicy ika, kaki & last one is tonpeiyaki, for me is delicious..Portion wise i think is consider small, so im sure you will not enough if only order 1 menu. For growing man like me looks like need to order 2 menu^^.. place wise is nice to hangout with friends(try to avoid lunch time cause is crowded). Last but not least, the service is fast and coordinate well..Keep this good quality and nice foods ya..I will definitely comeback again..Please like if you think my review is helpful ya..
Love their teppanki😁. Went there for lunch today with my family. Ordered our favourite Black Pepper Pork, Black Pepper Beef and Miso Chicken. Added a Mentai Okonomiyaki today to try. Turn out to be very good👍. Will definitely visit again 🙏
We are vegetarians and Eileen was very helpful in helping with our orders. Free refreshing drinks and Edamame salad was served which complete the whole experience.
I have been here many times. We ordered the pork, beef and shitake teppanyaki set. It was delicious as usual just a little too salty. Will be good to reduce the salt.
We were pleasantly surprised by free starter of potato salad and yuzu freeze at the end of the meal.
Friendly and prompt service.
It was a pleasant experience.
I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at Yaki Yaki Bo. Eileen was exceptionally friendly and offered excellent recommendations. The food prepared by Chef Martin were delicious. Overall, I'm highly satisfied with both the food and service provided. I will definitely return!
Service staff Eileen and her team has given the best service to my family after our long day at work and school(weekday). My family thoroughly enjoyed the food as well as attention to details during service, topping up water, extra side dishes, etc.
Even though we are seated at the table instead of the live cooking counter, our food was cooked well by Chef Liang and tasted very good. My child especially said that the teppan yaki taugeh is the best she had.
Excellent job and keep it up!
The food prepared by Chef Hwa was very good and suited my palate. I would also commend the service staff Eileen who has been very attentive to our requests. Keep up the excellent service!
Very solid teppanyaki and taste really good
We were blessed to be served by Eileen, who is meticulous and attentive in her service and could anticipate our needs in advance! Food was good but what stood out for us the most is the superb service by Eileen. She went beyond her duty and initiated to take a photo for us when she saw us taking a wefie, I must say she’s pro in photo taking! She is one of the best service staff we ever encountered and will visit this place again bcos of the great service we enjoyed.
My lunch experience here was wonderful. The food cooked by Chef Jia Wen is savoury and flavourful. The service here was remarkable too. I believe our waitress name is Eileen. She took the extra effort to chat with us and make sure everything is alright. We even got some small free slushies too. I would come back here again.
Chef liang was a great chef. The food was brilliantly cooked.
Eileen was also a very good server and went the extra mile to ensure the seats were comfortable for our big group.
Very juicy and nice food . I juz went twice . The garlic rice v aroma pungent smell . The service is good . I ask for chilli padi . They gave me lots . Hahah a very happy lunch meal . The cabbage also very nice
I had a wonderful dining experience at Yaki Yaki Bo. It exceeds my expectation by far when the very endearing waitress Eileen came multiple times in offering a little plate of appetizer, a nice shot of cocktail, and warm water -- all on the house!
Great service by Eileen, attentive and great vibes.
Its my third visit and Chef Jiawen has been consistent and professional, puts up amazing teppanyaki work each time, never fails to wow the guests. Highly recommend their tappenyaki banana and steaks.
Absolutely phenomenal! Kudos to Chef Liang for making the teppanyaki grill experience a perfect blend of culinary artistry and entertainment. Apart from the exceptional flavors, I would also like to give thanks to Eileen for making the ambiance lively and inviting. A must-visit for anyone looking for an unforgettable dining adventure!
Food was average, service average, but well price is reasonable for a teppanyaki meal.
I had an amazing dining experience with Chef Jia Wen and service staff Eileen. Chef Jia Wen's teppanyaki skills are outstanding; every dish was expertly prepared and incredibly delicious. Eileen's service was impeccable, attentive, and friendly. She made sure our needs were met and enhanced our overall dining experience with her warm hospitality and excellent recommendations. Together, they made our lunch truly special. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a top-notch teppanyaki experience. Thank you, Chef Jia Wen and Eileen, for an unforgettable meal and exceptional service!
Had complimentary appetiser and dessert shots, smth like Yuzu. Nice to seat at teppanyaki table, not very smoky too
Eileen is very attentive and always very eager to serve us. Our food is prepared by Chef Liang and it’s very delicious. The mutton is well cooked. Garlic fried rice is always tasty. Unfortunately, they remove the tuna salad and onion soup which are my favourite.
Had teppanyaki Ika, tenderloin, ribeye, mixed mushrooms and garlic rice. Perfect meal for a birthday. serving crew was 👍👍. Restaurant Manager was 👍👍👍. Chef Liang was 👍👍👍👍.
Today ( 15th of June 2024 ) we came to Serangoon NEX outlet. Fantastic lunch.Well served by crew Eileen & Chef Liang. Ask for more garlic for my dishes & he did. Will bring my family members for next visit. Perfect!!!!!!!@
service is good as eileen recommended new good food as we didn't try before.
chief liang cooks delicious food.
Tham is having good service too.
keep it up.
Always been coming here for great teppanyaki food, Chef Shan always made the meat tender and delicious. Eileen who was our server is always so friendly and wonderful that made the dining experience so comfortable!
Eileen and Chef Martin is very kindly and friendly. The food is very delicious and we think will come again soon.
We've ordered the rib eye beef cubes with soya sauce and butter + buta and seafood set + potato with bacon and mentaiko sauce. All the dishes were very well seasoned and flavorful - special mention goes to the beef cubes where were very soft and tender. Downside were the long waiting time + we did not get to sit by the chef's table. Nonetheless, it was a very delicious teppanyaki experience overall!
Eileen was very serving and caring towards customers. She gave us a chair to put our bags and replaced our yuzu drinks that are diluted
Food is great too. It’s tasty. Chef Shan made it
Our family had our lunch at the restaurant. Food was good. Waitress Eileen was very attentive that made our time at the restaurant njoyable and relaxing. Food was also served within reasonable time. Overall our family enjoyed the experience at the restaurant.
Loved the service by Eileen, she was extremely attentive and served us the free tuna as she knew we were hungry from the wait. Was also very helpful in helping to check on our orders too. Overall we loved the restaurant service.
Would recommend the codfish, the butter beef and also the okonomiyaki!
Good food by chef Liang and very friendly and great service from Eileen. We even got complementary sides and desserts.
So today was the first time I tried Yaki Yaki Bo as it was my mother's birthday. The whole experience was quite typical like any other teppanyaki and seemed to be going as per normal and my family somewhat enjoyed it. However, when it came to my beef hamburg, it was tough and also cooked halfheartedly. From the corner of my eye and also from what I heard from the manager/waiter during the cooking process, the chef had accidentally used the wrong sauce. Instead of just serving the hamburg with the different sauce as I did not really mind just a minimal sauce mistake, the chef proceeds to throw the hamburg back on the teppanyaki pan and wanted to cook off the sauce? It backfired and I was served a slightly burnt hamburg that was tough, crumbly and also not very flavourful. I would have been a lot happier and more satisfied if I was just served the initial hamburg instead of getting one that was overly cooked.
chef jia wen and server eileen did an excellent job in cooking the food and serving us! even though it was rush hour, the food was still yummy and the service was extremely good as well!
The service from the waitress name of Audrey are good and professional And also the chef Quan are Professional the food he is nice Delicious👍
Brought my family here to have dinner, despite having many customers Eileen was very sharp and attentive to what the diners need, I was super impressed and happy with her service which made the dinner special 🤗 Happy Blessed Chinese New Year 😄 thanks to other service crew and the food was great too!
P.S: thank you again Eileen for packing my leftovers into the container so nicely🙌🏻
Friendly and good smiling chef. Pleasant teppanyaki table grills experience at yaki yaki bo (nex)
the chef, jia wen, truly has a spectacular talent!! i dont usually eat teppanyaki in singapore but this place does it so well! the service here is really great, eileen and the manager are always making sure our eating experience was great even when dinner rush was at its peak 😭 definitely give this play a try! lots of complimentary (FREE!) food 😻😻
Great food preparation by Chef Martin.
Thank you Eileen for the great service as always.
Eileen is a very careful & service orientated staff.
Liang the cook, is good at cooking the food as instructed by me, because my parents are not able to take salty food.
Tham the manager, is able to recognise me and give me a brief idea of the recent changes of menu.
All the above staffs are really great!
Make our dinner experience to the next level.
Thank you very much
The chef martin cooked the steak perfectly and the staff were super friendly especially eileen and others would recommend to others
Ordered the garlic shoyu beef lunch set for around $20. Beef quality was definitely better than typical food court teppanyaki. Comes with a few appetizers, though they were a bit bland.
Eileen provides excellent service and Chef Liang skills is great. We enjoyed the food very much. Will be back again.
My chawanmushi was served very slow but overall experience was good :)
Food and services here are nice. We were struggling with the menu but Eileen took the initiative to approach us and explain to my grandma the menu. Really appreciate such gesture.
Second time there on father's day. Lucky enough had Chef Liang prepare my meal which was definitely up to my expectations. Awesome.
Special mention to the manager Mr Thiam as usual friendly, helpful and patient and fast and efficient service on a very busy father's day.
Will definitely be a long term customer and will pass the word to our friends
Salmon fish and the butatama okonomiyaki are nice dishes. Services excellent by Eileen, chef cooked well with child entertainment by Jia Wen.
Service was very good! Very friendly and professional staff and good food too. Want to commend Chef Jia Wen and Eileen for their service.
Martin is the person who serve me today, his service is good and the food is very nice too! Got “fire show” too ! 🤣
Both Chef Liang and Eileen provide very good service and are very helpful and attentive
The service staffs are always attentive and friendly to all patrons.
There was once we accidentally spilled some miso soup on the table, the manager reacted quickly to serve us tissue paper and even wet tissues for us to clean the spill on our clothes. Out of goodwill the manager even serve us a new bowl of miso soup even though we didn’t ask for it.
I would salute and always return to patronise this outlet as we always get what we are looking for.
My best wishes goes out to all staff working in this outlet. Thank you and may you find the review as affirmation of your hard work!
Best Regards
Manuel
The service was great as the waiter initiated a fill up whenever it is needed and attended to us before we even asked. The food was great and the the portion is enough as well
Chef Shan, Eileen, Gemma and Chito are superb! Excellent service :) Will come back for the food and service.
Food was goood, waitress Eileen was very friendly and staff were all nice too
Had the beef cubes with mushrooms on the side, and the oysters. Fantastic combination! The eggplant with pork was so-so. Service was good considering it was peak period. Didn't order deserts because they are too heavy. Tamago (egg) fried rice was a good accompaniment to the main dishes.
Good service & food! Thanks Eileen & Chef Hwa!
Food is quite delicious, but it may be a little expensive and it takes a long time to wait for food
It was a delight eating on the counter, with chef Jia Wen doing the teppanyaki. The ribeye, mixed mushrooms and scallop rice were really good. Also, i was amazed by chef Jia Wen’s cooking and skills it almost looked like a performance. On the side note, when i dropped my chopsticks on the floor, he was alert enough (even though he seemed to be focused on his cooking the whole time) and took the initiative to pass me a pair of new chopsticks.
Highly recommended to come.
Chef Jai wen cook really nice, service by Eileen is really good
The ribeye was so good. I wish they served asparagus again, it was removed. Good fix of teppanyaki if you are in the area.
This is a nice place to bring you family there, but do expect to wait as there is a queue during peak hours. This meals are very good and have various options to upgrade to. The 2 dish I like is the buta onion shogayaki and chicken teriyaki
Great food great service.
Chef Liang, Eileen
Very good service and delicious. good service, nice food.
