Reviews of Yaowarat Thai Kway Chap
Solid place. Will definitely recommend. Just don't buy drink here. No idea why so bloody expensive 😅. Cheapest is warm barley for $2. Cause they got 9% GST.
Food however is awesome. Seasoned just right and lots of flavour, mostly like bak kut teh la, so if you like bak kut teh pepper kind you'll love this. There's ample ingredients in the bowl of kway chap.
Place also has aircon which is a +++++ in Singapore's bloody hot weather
Comforting hot soup which was super delicious. Not exactly the same as what you might find in Yaowarat in Bkk but I dare say it’s even better!!
All the ingredients came together nicely in a solid peppery broth. Perfect meal for a cold rainy day. The cabbage is a must-try and wings were great too.
Service was so fast that my drink appeared when I sat down lol.
The food is great and the quality is consistent. However I do feel that the pricing is a little high. Apart from the pricing, I feel that the food quality is still good. One surprising thing is the amount of wokhey from their fried cabbage.
Their signature Thai pepper soup kway chap is a big surprising contrast to what we normally eat. Add in the deep fried Thai pork belly, braised egg and Thai mid wings and this makes our dinner even more pleasant. Dip them into the Thai chilli and get their extra spiciness.
The price is decent and food quality is good.
Would give it 4.5 stars if I could, but Google won’t allow for that. If you come here to have anything, order these stuff and you’ll be good. Fish sausage is kind of oily, so have it together with the soup so the oil won’t be too overpowering. Kway chap is nice, love the combinations of meats that you get together with the kway chap. Soup is peppery and not too heavy. But the best dish here is the deep fried intestines. The batter is like fried chicken and it’s always been served pipping hot. Do try it when you go there.
Brought by my colleagues to have an late lunch.
A few of our colleagues are regular patrons and highly recommended that we visit this place.
Kway chup has a clear base and peppery flavour which tasted like Bak Kut Teh.
We ordered their Thai Fried Beancurd, Deep Fried Thai Pork Belly, Thai Boiles Pork Belly, Thai Fish Sausage, Fried Large Intestine and Thai Mid Wings.
Service was prompt as all our dishes were served within 10 minutes.
A bit tad on the expensive side but the food was nice.
The place is spacious, clean and has good lighting. Service is fast and the food is decent. I would have to say honestly it doesn't taste the same as kway chap in Thailand and I expected abit more from the soup. However, the roast pork is fantastic! Super crispy and not too fatty. Goes really well with the spicy sauce. What you see here was $24 altogether. Wouldn't mind coming back again.
Chanced upon this rare gem along Serangoon road. Kway Chap soup and roasted pork are a must try. Soup is savory and fragrant. Pork is crispy and well marinated (some days not so crispy probably due to whatever reasons).
Overall, really great taste, good experience & ok price.
Had the signature Thai kueh chap for the first time and will definitely come back for more. The peppery soup is spot on as it slowly warms up your body as you drink more. The toppings include roasted pork belly, Thai fish sausage, lean meat and pig stomach. If you are driving, parking may be limited.
A good place for supper as they open till 3am. Very simple and straightforward menu. The broth tasted good, I like their fish cake so much.
Kway chap was nice. I like the little spicy kick of the soup, usually I don't enjoy pepper so much but except for this. And I think thai fish sausage was overpriced, 6 dolar for small size. Saw the reviews that many peoples was recommending this, in the end it was just tasted like bak gua. I rather order other dish such as thai mid wing or deep fried pork belly. Would like to go to try next time.
Something different... Soup is not as strong as I'd like it to be. Still plenty flavourful though. Very enjoyable bowl of noodles (if you may call it that). Fried intestines has a very similar taste to the lard crackles in bak chor Mee. Tasty and sinful. What really got me was the really spicy chili sauce. Left me tearing. Will probably be back again just for the chance to drench that chili sauce on my food. Seriously.
The peppery soup kwap chap will warm your soul. 2 pax but we ordered like 4 pax. Love the fried intestine and fish sausage. The fish sauce cabbage is very crunchy.. good to pair with plain kwap zap.
First time visiting here , if you like peppery taste , i can say the Kway Chap was good top with their very hot chilli powder. Their Fish Sausage fried to their sweetness and saltiness.... beside their main dish, its a must try on their Fried Intestine..... tasty ...
An alternative to the normal kway chap you are familiar with. Ba kut teh type peppery soup, with pigs stomach, thai fish sausages, roast pork and lean meat. The kway in the chap is chewy, really chewy as it's roll up all the way. Prices is a real draw back here as with SGD$5 you get a really small bowl of everything. It probably fills me 50% . You got to order sides to go along to fill up a little better.
Recommend their cabbages. Fried with fish sauce, the aroma is good and the semi burnt quick stir fry caramelized the side. The taste of sweetness of the cabbage with the unique saltiness of the fish sauce is a blast.
Overall a mix bag of hits and misses, a good supper place as it open beyond dinner time . For a pax of 2, you are looking at at least SGD $25 to fill you up with hawkers center grade food.
This is one of the best place to enjoy a wholesome supper. Had their signature Thai kway chap, though a little too peppery. Add a plate of roasted pork... Ka-bam! Putain délicieux!
Authentic thai kway chap that’s peppery and generous with the ingredient. Definitely worth to return again for their kway chap and roasted pork. Like it better when eating by the roadside in Bangkok but glad to find this in Singapore. Parking is quite hard to find in this area.
The kway chap's soup is different than the normal ones we eat - it's spicy with rolled up rice noodles - but other than that nothing really different.
If it's your first time strongly recommend their signature kway chap noodles at $5 with all the different ingredients and perhaps share one or two dishes. But most of the side dishes they sell you can find it at hawker centers with a cheaper price.
Place is free seating and can get quite crowded during peak hours. Sharing table is very likely during these timings. Meal cost around $25 for two people with drinks.
Will return again for the soup but don't really find the environment appealing.
Good late night comfort food. This place opens till 2am. We were a group of 6 and reached there close to 12am on Monday night. Place was full and we had to wait a while. Ordered their signature Thai kway chap with couple of other dishes. Food was served pretty fast. Kway chap had fried fish sausage and pork in it. The fried dishes were crispy and fragrant. This is my first time here and I felt this is a good place for late night gatherings. Will come back again.
The experience of thai food was pleasant. Wouldn't recommend the sausages though, quite pricey. The pork and intestines are worth the price. However, kway chap isn't amazing because it tasted the same as any other coffee shop kway chap and was quite surprise to know that it cost 3 dollars for a bowl.
Aside from that, good to head back for their pork and intestines.
Great food and nice addition in variety of food in Kovan Area.
First of all, I dont eat pork stomach and such on so i dont know how they taste. But my friend said they clean the stomach and nicely done.
I love the thai kway cap for it roasted pork and fish sausage. The kway chap is curly version and the soup taste similar to pepper bakut teh.
I loved the roasted pork, it is crispy and to so sinful until makes me so fat. The fish sausage also very good, the taste like lap ciong buat it contains fish? mixed feelings but it is ok.
If you like spicy, put the chili flakes inside the thai kway chap, and it will give you a nice kick for the spicyness.
For price point, 5 sgd is a good price for thai kway chap given they give quite good meat inside. You can expect queuing and lot of people want to eat there.
For quality wise, it makes me wanna comeback for its roasted pork, the roast pork makes me want to come back.
Very good stuff! Soup was peppery. I like how the kway curled up. Reminds me of the kway I had as a kid. So each spoonful contained a piece or two of the kway.
Ordered the pork belly, taupok, and fried intestines too. The intestines were gamey but I like it that way. The pork belly was sufficiently fat too. Like, don’t eat pork belly if you want lean meat la.
Portion is really small... Really meant for supper / snack only... Extremely peppery not for anyone who cannot take spice.. Pepper taste is more than any other flavor.. can try try once nia, not a good main choice at all...
Thai style kwa chap with pig stomach, sausage, pork and kway in soup. The kway is served together with the soup. You can also order side.disjes such as taupok, fried beancurd, friend chicken wings which are all pretty.goof. Reasonably priced in a aircon setting
Had this 2 weeks ago. Thoroughly enjoyed the peppery soup based kway chap. Side dishes (small) comes in decent servings though not exactly the cheapest but will definitely order again. Roasted pork is damn crispy, just the right amount of fat and considered pretty lean. Highly recommend the fried pig intestines. Crispy on the outside and slight chew on the inside. No stench of poorly washed intestines.
Fish sausage is alright. A bit sweet and reminds me of taiwan sausage.
Braised dishes like taupok and hard boiled egg is aright too. Will still order for kway chap experience but nothing to shout about. Same goes for fish sausage.
ALSO YAOWARAT PLS I ALMOST CRIED WHEN I SAW THAT YOUR STALL IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED 😡
Simply heaven. The tasty food served here brings your soul to the streets of Thailand.
All is perfect but a little salty.
Different from the local version of kway chap. It is served with roast pork, sliced pork and sausage. Added the chilli powder for that extra spice!
Affordable and yummy thai kway chap! Service is good and fast. Fried pork belly is crunchy, savoury and not too oily. Soup is peppery to taste.
The last time I took Thai Kway Chap was some 6 years ago in Bangkok, and I didn't like it. The meats were hard, and the trotters had hair on them. It created such an impression on me, I didn't try it anymore since we came home.
Yesterday night, my son and I took a car ride around town, and on coming home, told me to stop by this place and da bao something home. He swore by it, and so I threw caution to the winds and have Thai Kway Chap another go.
It was good! The soup reminded me of Malaysian Bak Kut Teh, with its herbal and peppery kicks. We had ours with the Thai sausages and roast pork. The sausages were delicious, albeit a little sweet, and the roast pork crackly crispy and done just right, without overwhelming my taste buds with the usual salty overdrive!
In all, yesterday's experience saved the day for Thai Kway Chap where I was concerned, and now, thanks to Yaowarat, I'm willing to try it again😘
Taste very good, special paper and a little spicy flavor, quite similar to Bakutei.
You can refill soup if not enough, very friendly and make this small shop so impressive!
This shop selling Thai Kuih chap. The soup Kuih chap should be less pepper (or less hot). The food portion, Kuih chap portion is more soup not so much on Kuih chap. It is for supper is nice , cannot go with lunch or dinner. The deep fried chicken is great taste n not oily , crispy and good aromatic smell. The ice lemon tea is special.
Different from local type of kway chap. Intestines are cleaned nicely. Soup base is peppery type but very delicious! The roast pork is a must try! Super crunchy and taste awesome!
Roast pork has good crisp. Kway chap broth is good as I love peppery stuffs. Sadly, I don't take intestines, so couldn't comment much on that.
Nice Thai kway chap. Tastes similar to the one I had in Thailand years ago.
Fish cake is good.
One word can only describe the food - Shiok! Love the Thai fish sausage most😋
Came highly recommended by a friend who stays nearby, so I ordered the kway chap and fried intestines to go. It was Super good! The broth was really peppery and the fried intestines was still crunchy and it didn’t ooze out excessive oil when you bite into it. They are open till late, so I will definitely patronise again!
Take away with soup separated. $€.30. Thai Kway Chap. Though quite different com0ared to eating it in Thailand, but it's still very delicious. Goes best with the Thai chili flakes sprinkle into the soup but if u are not a chili dude, go ez coz it's super spicy. Try it,no regrets.
02/04/2023: THE Pork BELLY oh my gosh!!! They literally got better at cooking it!
Always go there thinking that i can save money, end up buying too much of their sides because of how good it is!
Service was fast, kway chap portion probably considered small for most people. Wings, pork belly is goooooood. Crowded with some queue, price is considered reasonable.
Loved the deep fried pork belly and the cabbage dish!!! :)
Delicious Thai kway chap. But lunch tastes better than dinner. Price average. Chicken wing really good. Must try
A slightly different type of Kway Chap with a hint of peppery taste from the broth. Do give their fried large intestines a try!
This is like peppery pig organ soup with curled up Kway Chap. It's been a long some since I had Thai Kway Chap. Service was prompt, although some items like braised eggs were not available. Did I mention this place was air-conditioned?
Very nice thai kway chap and fried cabbage! Without service charge and street-like renovation, very fresh and enjoyable good meal!
Kuay chap and side dish was nice. Good thai chilli. Unfortunately service staff seems tired and restless..
Love the chicken wings and roast meat. Value for money portion and quality better a lot of the cafe and coffee shop
Worth trying and reasonably priced. We liked both the Signature Kway Chap bowl and also the crispy pork intestines.
Super heavenly roasted pork haha. Must eatttt this kwaychap
Food is great and shop is airconditioned and comfortable. Food is also served quickly and not expensive
Tried it. Tasted not bad.
But i felt out tasted v familiar although this is my first try.
Then i remembered it tasted like the brand "Papa" Thai kway chap instant type selling in Supermarket v cheap.
Next best thing to eating Thai Kway Chap in Thailand… good menu selection for the food lovers… do check out the yaowarat Thai Kway Chap Signature & their fried intestine ☺️🙏👍 yumz
Food is served piping hot. Kway chap is nice with peppery soup. The roast pork is extremely crispy even if it is dipped in the soup. The cabbage has wok hei and crunchy. Ice Thai milk tea is authentic. Thai fish sausage and braised items are so-so in my opinion. Will try the fried intestines and moo ping the next time. Will definitely be a return customer.
Standard dropped a lot. The kway is hard. Portion is not big and usually can finish but today the kway is so hard that I cannot finish. Other fried side dishes are still OK.
Different style of Kway Chap as compared to Singapore ones! Peppery! Nice air conditioning restaurant!
kway chap was slightly above average, tastes like very peppery bak kut teh! the only thing worth coming back for is the fishcake!
Love the peppery soup. Fried pork belly and Thai mid wings are very good too.
Nice pork belly! Very crispy. Kway chap is peppery taste soup. It’s like 猪肚汤
Great tasty bowl of kway chap, soup was light and peppery. Mid wings were damn good!
The kway chap is chewy and Q.The soup is nice as well which gets spicier and spicier somehow. The braised tofu is one of my favourite side. The fried intestines, tofu and roasted pork all give a certain crunch that nice and pleasant. The only downside the place is abit squeezy
I’ve driven past this multiple times and always see a queue so I’m glad that I finally tried it yesterday! The kway chap was reasonably priced at $5.50 and I liked the peppery taste. Wasn’t able to try the side dishes as we weren’t super hungry but would be keen to try the fried large intestines the next time round. The only gripe I have is that parking in the area is pretty hard to find!
Yummy food! The indoor air is so cold because of many air-con.
First time here. Ordered their signature Thai kway chap (rice vermicelli rolls) bowl as it came with a bit of everything. Love it! Soup was the right amount of pepper & aromatic with fresh ingredients. We also had a side of fried intestines too and it was really yummy! Recommend to go if you haven't already eaten here.
I never tried Thai Kway Chap before but this amazed me.
It tastes exactly like white pepper pork stomach soup. The taste of soup is very rich and flavourful.
Side ingredients are sliced pork, pork stomach & fish sausage. Stir fry Kai Lan is not bad too.
Just the portion of kway chap is too little.
Overall is good.
Pretty good food. As of what I know the only Thai kway chap store here in Singapore. The Thai fish sausage is a must try. The pork belly is unfortunately too dry. Soup is close to a bone broth and tastes similar to our local bak Kut Teh flavour profile. Try it if you want something different.
The Kway Chap is different from Chinese versions, the noodles are rolled up. The fried pork slices are rich and flavourful, albeit a little bit salty. I like the soup the most.
Good is really not bad. But very very oily. If only the oil could be strained or dapped after frying.
I can say the kway chap is nice with all ingredients, but it's $6, that make it a little bit ex.
I love their kway teow soup, the soup has a strong peppery flavor! Chili powder is super spicy! All kinds of side dishes are delicious!
I think it's okay, it's quite expensive.
I live in the Koban area, so I go here two or three times a month. My wife and I usually order two signature kailan with crispy pork. The signature kwai chap tastes like rib soup with a lot of pepper, and the pork in kailan is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, so it's delicious sometimes. It's a bit salty at times, but I'm still satisfied with the price and taste.
The service is not up to par, the price is not reasonable, and only a bowl of Thai kueh juice is barely up to standard.
The location is moderate, the price is reasonable, and they all have Thai taste.
