Reviews of 友间厨坊 A Kitchen
Food is pretty good and authentic. Skewers were very tasty and the place has quite a homely feel to it. The only thing is that the staff there were not very friendly, so overall 4 stars. If the staff were more accommodating, I would have given it 5 stars. Overall still a very good restaurant and would come back again for sure! :)
Love the food here. Been here numerous times, but I always end up ordering my few favourites.
Skewers ($1 each) are a must. I like the pork and lamb. The wok hey / charred high heat taste as you bite into it... Fantastic.
I like the stir fry shoots ($12) too. Savory, pairs well with rice. The veg here can be a bit old (eg stir fry french bean or brinjal). The taste is good but it is too tough to bite, need to remove the vine or the skin.
Give the intestine ($16) a try if you are ok with pig organs. Nice.
The steamed chicken 口水鸡 ($9.80), was bad. Haha it was a salty mala chili sauce which totally covered the taste of the chicken.
Overall, nice food.. reasonable price, nice portions.
For the price, worth to bring friends and family. If u r into spicy food, this is a gd place to try.
Please reserve if dining at peak hours or in large groups.
Best in entire Bukit Panjang!
WHAT'S GREAT?
1) Lamb skewers!!! (Minimum 3-5 / person nice) Best!!!
2) chicken wings skewers
2) Tomato egg
3) Water boiled fish (prefers Dory fish though). As of Jan 2025, Dory fish is used!
4) Beef fried rice
5) Fried potato slices
6) Beer to wash the oily food down!
What can be improved?
1) Cumin beef (not enough spice)
2) kou shui ji (not to my liking)
3) jin du Zhu Rou (wrapper pork). So so, can skip.
I had a wonderful meal at 友间厨坊 (A Kitchen). The dishes were fresh and full of flavor. My favorite was the Signature Prawn Noodles – really tasty!
The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy. It’s a great place for a delicious meal, and I’ll definitely come back again!
The food portions are large, we didn't manage to finish our food due to 1st time order. The taste is good, like those that are in Chinatown. Specially recommend their skewers which is cooked very well and is tender
Very good and affordable Chinese food. Lots of variety. The bbq skewers are one of the best ever had in Singapore. China beer only sold at $5 per bottle.
Nice restaurant with lots of items on the menu. Chinese food which are very good and reasonably priced. The beer is cheap at $5 a bottle.
The place gets very crowded during dinner time.
Love the skewers, nicely marinated with lots of torched taste.
Dishes are nicely cooked, tasty.
Do be prepared to wait. A queue forms around 6.30 pm onwards.
Nice China food. The bbq skewers were good. Dishes were great too. Will be back to try more food.
Great food. Really extensive menu Skewers is definitely worth the money. The other items on the menu are a little on the high side, but nonetheless delicious.
A Kitchen is a good restaurant to go if you are craving north-eastern Chinese cuisine. The skewers are definitely one of the best for me, as I always order them whenever I come here. I recommend getting the special beef skewers, if you can handle spicy food, and the lamb skewers, which are very tender and juicy. I have also ordered the mapo tofu, but the tofu they used was a bit firmer than the ones typically used for mapo tofu. Nonetheless, other dishes are quite nice in my opinion. However, since I typically come here with friends, I feel the place is quite cramped and there are not many tables that can accomodate 5+ people. Also, for some reason, the rice takes quite a long time to come out. We often had our skewers and other dishes first before the rice came. But all in all, the food is quite good and would come back for them.
skewers is good with right amt of spice! 3 for $3. fish soup ($20) is not as good; not as sour n spicy as it should be. fried salted bean is 👍🏼
Four stars for specific yummy dishes and as a place to chill (over skewers and beer). Highly recommend their braised noodle/ Lu mien (abit different from the usual Putian but yet similar) and skewers (my number one being their special marinate, lamb, pork intestine and beef tendon). Skewers are generally $1++ each so quite worth it. The restaurant has the same boss so can order dishes from next door too vice versa. Is abit more of a Xiao chao restaurant, dishes are not too bad but are on the slightly salty and oily side (expected of Chinese food). Liked the stir fry chives with egg, pork dumplings and appetisers are alright. Drinks you can grab on your own from the fridge, soft drinks and sweetened bottled tea are $3 and beer are $5. Tried pearl river which was very easy to down and great with skewers.
Food is good with affordable pricing as well. But staff service and attitude is lackluster.
They have two openings one in the mall and the other facing outside where they just throw some chairs in a disorderly fashion and expect people to know there is a queue
My family and I came in from the mall entrance with no signs or indication to inform patrons to queue outside.
Overall, it’s a take it or leave kind, don’t expect any services
Clean, ordering was done through QR code, food came fairly quickly and my goodness the lamp skewers were top tier. Beers were good and affordable as well. Closes at 11pm though.
Fried Rice never came. Overall food is nice and good!
Always long waiting time and long queue. Tried many times.
Had man tou, enoki (which is very good), mapo tofu, tofu skin with pork, skewers and tofu skin. It was good. The env is abit noisy but decent food for a reasonable price.
Regular of the branch at Vision Exchange.
This place is definitely downsized. No 水煮鱼. Like how is it possible lol.
Overall, not too shabby! But there’s this buzzing sound which is really annoying.
Pretty good food, but atmosphere and service so so.
Waited more than 1h to get a large table. Food tend to be on the spicy side.
The only Chinese restaurant with lamb skewers near Bukit Panjang. Love this place. Tasty and good price.
Not bad at all. Chinese cuisine.
Great authentic Chinese food.
Love the food n services.
Nice SiChuan food
Very good 👍
Awesome food
I think this is the best Chinese restaurant in Bukit Panjang. I go there often. It is doing well, so they expanded to the left. You can also order the original A kitchen menu from the left restaurant.
Nice grilled fish. I ordered the spicy grilled fish. but this is the non spicy version. Very nice! Also ordered beef skewers. very spicy. Went on Sunday afternoon, very busy restaurant.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a "Friends Kitchen" here. The one in Jurong West is so popular that you often can't find a seat.
Very authentic skewers and barbecue, delicious. The portion is very large👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The egg yolk and bitter melon are refreshing and delicious, the old cucumber and shrimp soup is delicious, the ground three delicacies are a little salty, and the grilled fish is pretty good.
Northern Chinese food is delicious!
