Reviews of Zén
Dining at Zen was the most immersive experience out of all the fine dining restaurants we have had so far. This whole journey lasted a solid four hours and all I can say is - wow, time does fly !
So it began from the kitchen which was the first floor, you’ll be introduced with the full ingredients from the menu while having some welcoming snacks. Then the journey progressed to the second floor which was the dining room. I can’t pin down the highlights as I literally love every single course, each course has its own flow and theme, on top of that you have the perfect beverage pairing to have the duet going. Shout out to Harry, our man, gave us the next level experience, story telling and the whole genuine attitude was impeccable.
Finishing up to the third floor, there you’ll have some extra high tea moment to chill and enjoy yourselves.
Last but not least - The music, that I personally think is also superb and part of the unique experience….
The best dining experience ever!
Didn’t expect to visit and dine at all 3 floors! Service was top notch!
What I loved most were their snacks. It was so impressive I can still remember the different taste and flavour that explodes my mouth at each bite.
Their mains were amazing too - each dish has its own unique flavour, bringing foodgasm in every bite.
I was so full when we reach dessert but everything was so delicious I stuffed myself to the max
It’s on the pricier side of a 3-Michelin star restaurant but it was an unforgettable experience that was worth it.
Would return to try their menu again when the season change (and when my wallet allows!)
You will start your journey from the kitchen (1st level) where you will be presented with a caviar chutoro blini (very good), kalix lojrom (a fried potato dish done very differently, also really really good), a lobster croustade (excellent), kombu truffle (nice but not as tasty as the previous 3 bites) and finally a gunkan (a tartare with chevreuil and elderberry, interesting bite but I preferred the first 3 bites) This last treat is served to you after you are invited to the kitchen where a chef will explain the main menu showing you most of the raw ingredients involved.
After this, you will be invited up to the second floor where the main dining will take place. Each dish is plated table side before service.
Crudo: ikura with aged shima aji was superbly done. Couldn't taste the coffee oil but was still good nonetheless.
Chawanmushi: tokubushi in a hojicha dashi with uni on top. Easily the tastiest chawanmushi I have ever had. Both rich and creamy, fantastic dish.
Scallop: this dish is a star. Never thought that the fingerlime would go so well with the scallop. The pumpkin sauce was a nice addition to the dish but the scallop/lime combo was the real hero.
Onion, almond and liquorice: this was presented with a foamy top with lots of flavours hidden underneath. I have never had this flavour combo before but it was mind-blowingly good. You can taste each individual profile and together they sing.
Guinea fowl: another amazing dish. The bird was perfectly cooked with a sabayon that complimented it beautifully.
Aged Wagyu: a very good dish (perfectly cooked) with nothing wrong but paled in comparison to all the dishes that came before it.
French toast: sourdough bread with a couple of marinated meats and a sauce/spread. Very good but messy bite.
Tea, milk and honey: Hokkaido milk ice cream with lavender honey, banana served with a jasmine waffle on the side. Yet another amazing dish. I'm not a dessert person but this was very good.
After the main meal, you are invited up to the 3rd floor for coffee/tea and a bunch of sweet treats. You are started out with a sorbet with fruits nicely cut for easy eating. This is followed by 6 different sweet bites. It was hot and miss for me. The black garlic toffee was interesting and the toasted meringue with cheese was nice. I really didn't care for the rest. Again not their fault, I am really just not a dessert person.
Amazing experience, many thanks to the team and amazing staff who made it all so memorable.
Honestly, I really enjoyed my meal experience at Zén! Was here a few years ago and fell in love with the food that we decided to go to Frantzén in Stockholm.
Heard many of my friends not liking the food here but I disagree. I feel like only those who can truly appreciate unpretentious cooking and ingredients will understand why Zén deserves its recognition. However, like many restaurants ofcourse there are also hit and miss dishes.
Tried a few Wine by glass selections and they were mostly rare / hard to find in SG even from direct suppliers… niepoort’s coche branco is an interesting try if you fancy white burgs or Coche Dury.
Just 2 dishes that i feel were a tad too salty: the akamutsu and onion “soup”.
Alsoo, they serve really good black coffee blend from Chye Seng Huat! (Indian blend: Throwback) tastes even better than the one brewed in CSH themselves (went to try CSH’s exact same blend right after zén)
Zén was the highlight of our honeymoon food tour in Singapore. In the nights prior, we had visited Les Amis, Labyrinth (highly recommend!), and Shoukouwa. Zén blew them all out of the water for us. Easily the best dining experience of our lives and much worthy of the 3 Michelin stars ⭐️. Every dish we tasted was better than the last, starting from the first floor all the way to the top floor. Service was perfection as well. If you are in Singapore, I highly highly recommend you splurge for a special occasion and visit this restaurant!
Great place, unique dishes, selective ingredients and interesting concept (Scandinavian + Japanese fusion). This place really offers a great dining experience.
I love the warm welcoming ambience and after dinner seating area where you can sit as long as you want.
Friendly and helpful staffs. The staffs literally did not say “no” to any of our requests, which was very impressive.
Pretty damn good food, somewhat interesting drink pairings too. Service is a bit of hit and miss depending on who you get. I was 10 mins late so they started us off on the 2nd floor and we missed the whole 1st floor snacks> ingredient box thing which was a bit sad since it was a great experience at Frantzen. Also rushed us through the snack with the next one coming just as we finished one. Kinda marred the experience since at this price point and with their athas friend’s home vibe, you don’t expect to be rushed so they can get ready for the dinner service…. (Also comparing this to my experience at Frantzen where you basically spend 6 hours there dining at an incredibly leisurely pace)
Compared to their OG restaurant in Stockholm, I’d say food is probably on par, drink pairing wasn’t as good, service is probably 80% there. Not the restaurant’s fault, but ambiance and architecture wise, it’s pretty lacking compared to Frantzen(just check out pictures of the toilets there lol) Kinda felt like they tried a bit too hard to replicate the multiple floor idea but they don’t pull it off as well. Maybe it’ll get better as the restaurant develops?
Still the one of the most interesting restaurants in Singapore and the food is solid. The value proposition for these experience-driven places are always iffy, but I’d probably return if I had something to celebrate. An early dinner slot would probably be the best time to go so there’s no time pressure.
Appetizers were great, feel like those were the best. No push to buy bottles or alcohol though sommelier was so nice. Overall a good experience thigh will prob try for 2 other restaurants for the price of this dinner (food and alcohol at almost 900, SGD PP
everything was wonderful, loved the onion soup, chawanmushi, scallops and desserts. top notch ingredients, service, presentation, etc etc - we had an outstanding experience. thank you for the beautiful meal!
A true 3-star meal with great service and in a wonderful location. Some of the dishes were true standouts.
A couple were a bit uneven to my taste: the tuna overpowered the caviar and I ate each separately. The licorice dominated the onion soup (and this is coming from a licorice lover). My biggest gripe is the drinks prices, which are well beyond my comfort zone. The cheapest wine is USD$50 per glass, for example.
But on the whole the meal was superb and memorable and I would highly recommend it.
Exceptional service by the staff complements the outstanding food. They are not just servers but narrators of a culinary story, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable dining experience. Their professionalism, knowledge, enthusiasm, and attention to detail make the entire evening memorable.
In summary, exceptional food and service make this place a must-visit. The unique blend of culinary influences, outstanding sauces, and attentive staff create an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!
Zen sets the bar for dining experience in Singapore. From the time you walk through the door you feel like you are in someone's home. There is a feeling that you are a on a journey through their lives and each turn is a new and delicious set of ingredients to taste. If you are a foodie and also enjoy a restaurant that is a fun experience, you have to try this place. Yelicia is the caviar that makes the experience even more special. She was engaging, fun and made the whole night one of the best dinners we have had in Singapore. Looking forward to our next visit :)
This was truly the best 3 Michelin Star dining experience we've ever had. My wife and I came here to celebrate her birthday and my oh my what a celebration it was.
Michelin restaurants have the tough job of combining top notch service, ambience, presentation, and most importantly tasty food. I can wholeheartedly say that the team at Zen delivered 110% on all fronts!
Special mention to the sommelier team who was very easy to correspond with before the meal and even double-decanted our wine for a few hours before we arrived!
11/10 experience, highly recommend!
Fantastic service, ambience and innovative twist on what fine dining means in Singapore. Hope you get them stars..
Incredible vegetarian food!! The staff members were accommodating and were able to modify our experience based on our schedule. The manager and hari were very helpful and took a lot of pride in every dish being brought out. This place is a must if your visiting singapore.
Went for a 7pm Dinner seating with my fiancee, and was immediately met with a friendly greeter who was happy to seat me 20 minutes before our reservation. The restaurant had also been very diligent in communicating beforehand to ensure they were aware of any dietary restrictions or preferences. The setting is fairly chilled out, like someone's home - the various areas are themed after rooms in a house - and so there was little need to "dress up" for it even if the final bill was rather pricey (we both chose the wine pairings). The food was stunning, with the scallop a particular delight, though the guinea fowl, fish, waffles and many others were close to mind-blowing as well. Service was top notch, finding the right balance between classy informative expertise and approachable welcoming friendliness. Shaun (Sean? Shawn?) paid close attention to us and speaking with him was a highlight, but the entire staff made an amazing meal a truly brilliant experience. We are already making plans to return again!
PS: Washrooms are also clean and have cool lights.
Amazing experience dining at Zen! The food was sublime and the whole atmosphere made us feel comfortable unlikely many other fine dining establishments. Each dish was intricately thought through and maximized the flavors each ingredient. Definitely a must for foodies! Extra points as well for the great music playlist they have!
Enjoyable but for this price I expected more. The overall experience is lovely and very different - as others have said, you move through the space for each of the courses. Overall the food was good but it wasn't consistently excellent. Service is great, but again what you would expect at this price point.
Our group had a dietary requirement where one person was pregnant and communicated ahead of time. In some courses this was taken into account with a veg option but where meat courses were concerned, overcooked meat was served rather than the kitchen actually exploring a replacement course. At these prices that shouldn't be happening.
The food is amazing. So is the service, performed by knowledgeable professionals. Presentation is beautiful and everyone gets to check out the kitchen. Every dish is excellent, every drink well curated. But it gets 4 stars instead of 5 because it's just so darn expensive. It was north of S$1,700 for two people with the tasting menu and wine pairing plus pre-dinner Champagne as offered. Most high-level restaurants offer a more moderately priced option (by "moderate" I mean only $400 to $600 a person with alcohol pairing). The only way to cut the cost here is to go with the alcohol-free juice-heavy pairing, or just a bottle of wine. We enjoyed the meal but are not itching to go back, when there are so many other really excellent choices that are much cheaper.
An incredible experience, highly recommend a visit here when travelling to Singapore.
An outstanding dining experience at a price. A journey, not just a meal.
The hospitality is beyond home.
Some items are a new dimension to your taste buds.
Would love to go again when opportunity arises.
Wine pairing is very generous, so make sure you can hold your alcohol or just get 1 non-alcoholic pairing and share.
Only complain is I wish the pace has been slower.
Once in a lifetime experience. It's not a typical restaurant. In fact, it's hardly one at all. It's more like an alternative universe where time stops. You'll forget reality and become lost in food, art, and music. I don't want to spoil it so I won't say much more except just go! It's worth every penny.
Arguably best dining experience in Singapore this year.
Food was spot on - interesting flavors and great ingredients, but more importantly put together with such finesse and cohesion that completely elevated each dish. Dessert was not an afterthought here and really punched above its category.
Wines we had were so damn good, with the recommendations from the team to be atypical (for Singapore) but refreshingly so. Still thinking about the GV that blew my mind and how I can get my hands on it.
But the service. The service was next level - I don’t know how they find these people but everyone was amazing - warm, welcoming, funny, helpful, informative, the list could go on. Didn’t get everyone’s name but heartfelt thanks to every single person.
If I could give more than 5 stars here I would.
Thinking of the next excuse to come back!
This was a really special experience. Food was mind blowing, service was personal, environment was perfect. Thank you all, Hari, Fiq, Shawn, Chivas, Lisa, the handsome American guy who recommended the white wine, and the rest of the staff; sorry if I can't recall your names, I hope to be reacquainted soon
Am a fan and only wish my pockets were truly deep enough to make a rerun (one has to account nevertheless that this is one of the highest dining price point in town). Everything was phenomenal and you leave feeling like you've spent some good money on great art, for it might just possibly be that. The onion, almond & liquorice is the prize, although everything else was lined up worthy in its own right. Like a great Oscars without the flimflams. Beverage pairings are great and worth getting -- got a half/half so I can walk straight. Service is TOP in caps, might have felt like I was Bong Joon-Ho. Well I mean real thank you to the team for making us feel like stars. I may have shed bit of a tear at the priceyness of it but happy to be doing our part contributing to something that is entirely worthwhile and your salary too, Zuyao :D
Worthy successor of andre’s old space. Three stories concept of having appetisers on first floor, mains on second and desserts on third was well executed. Particularly pleased by their Instagram friendly ingredients box to start the meal. First time having a juice pairing meal and was very pleasantly surprised. Service staff was excellent, food was creative and ambience was well placed - likely front runner for three michelin stars.
Only 3 of the many dishes were actually noteworthy. Of all the 3-star michelin restaurants I’ve dined at this did not meet expectations for the price. Paid $1.5K for two for the basics.
Very homely atmosphere with extensive dining experience, eating your way from the ground floor up to the third floor. Beautifully executed 👍🏻
Services & dining experience 10/10

The Kitchen 9/10

True molecular gastronomy, absolutely delicious with amazing service!! Ask for Walter he's amazing :)
Nice taste but over pricy.
One of the best dining experience from the first floor to third floor. Food was amazing and staffs are attentive. Must visit place in Singapore!
Amazing.
Beautifully executed. Hopefully to see you guys get your Michelin stars soon. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
Great food, service and ambience, the best Michelin 3 stars restaurant in Singapore IMO.
Beautiful space, Nordic food with some Japanese produce. Well executed. Very pricey
Casual with elegant food! Excellent environment with friendly and warm service.
Best price resturant

This is a Michelin restaurant representing Singapore. By incorporating many Japanese ingredients, they express familiar ingredients using French techniques, and the alcohol pairings are also very unique.
It is one of Singapore's leading star restaurants. The food also incorporates many Japanese ingredients, expressing familiar foods with French techniques, and the alcohol pairings are very unique.
The interior layout style makes people feel like dining in a Nordic-style home. The instructions for the kitchen assistant and outside are clear and concise, so as not to delay the progress of the meal. Most of the ingredients are from Japan, very familiar ingredients, but the seasonings are overlapping or intertwined with sour flavors, making it more interesting with Mixed Pairing. I’m happy to meet the girls on the outfield. You can ask questions and answer questions. See you again soon🙏~
The former seat of Jiang Zhencheng Restaurant
This team is very capable of building towers
They are also very creative and the wine pairings are very special.
If you don’t pair it with wine, the meal will probably taste a bit salty.
Excellent service, great experience
It's a wonderful meal, each dish is very carefully prepared. The staff service was perfect and we had a wonderful dinner. This time I chose pairing. I think there are individual differences in wine taste preferences, but if you're not an adventurous person, choosing a bottle may be better. Because it's quite unique. If you like the adventure of wine and sake, we highly recommend giving it a try.
Yesterday I had a wonderful birthday. An extraordinary culinary experience that we have never experienced before. We ate in 3 different rooms. We started in the kitchen, where we were served 5 different aperitifs and had the opportunity to look over the shoulders of the chefs at work. Each dish was served and presented in detail by one of the chefs. We were then introduced to all the products that we were able to enjoy in the next room. We were then led into the Dinning Room. There we were able to enjoy 9 more small courses. We opted for a drink accompaniment, which consisted of 4 alcoholic and 4 non-alcoholic drinks. This also took a long time to provide a precise description. The smell and taste of the drinks were the perfect companion that reflected the flavors of the dishes. The best drink accompaniment I've had so far. Finally we were led into the living room. There we were able to enjoy our coffee and the last three sweet little things that rounded off the evening perfectly. Definitely worth the trip for us. We would like to thank the entire team for the wonderful evening.
A great August experience. Thanks for the thoughtful and considerate service. The food selection is seasonal and fresh from all over the world, as evidenced by the black truffles from Mt Dandenong in Melbourne, Australia. I was amazed by the ingredients and sauces of the Scottish scallops. The alcoholic pairings were eclectic, one of which was a specially ordered sake named Zen; many of the non-alcoholic pairings were fermented by the chef himself, and the taste was quite unique. The tableware used was different for each course. During the meal, there was a half glass of non-alcoholic pairing left, and it was taken away by the staff instead of being poured away, but observed and tested to see if there was any problem, which shows the serious attitude towards quality control. The explanation of the ingredients before the meal, the display of the ingredients during the meal, the rhythm of the meal, and the consistency of the actions of the service staff can make you feel that the Michelin three stars are well-deserved and well-deserved.
Singapore's leading Nordic restaurant started as a branch of a famous Nordic restaurant. When I first came here, it was more Nordic-oriented, but now, for better or worse, it has been influenced too much by Japanese cuisine, and considering that it is the highest priced in Singapore, it is a bit strange for Japanese people.
Your taste buds are in ecstasy all evening. Everything is fine and delicate. A superb culinary experience.
Top. Everything was excellent. The food, drinks and service were impeccable.
