Reviews of Cherrybrook Preschool East Coast
There are so many things to shout about at Cherrybrook - the adoption of Montessori pedagogy and principles, the physical environment, a community of like-minded parents, its dedication to the children’s character development via the adoption of the Virtues Project, etc. What has impressed us most is its team of committed and passionate teachers and staff, all of whom are very aligned and loving towards the children. We are not looking forward to Primary School days as we know we will miss Cherrybrook and the family of friends we have found through it.
If you're looking for a "home away from home" environment where imparting values (virtues as they are called in the pedagogy here) to our precious children are as important as the life skills and foundational education, Cherrybrook is the only pre-school around that offers this.
Parents and teachers are partners in this journey, and the teachers constantly create opportunities for us to be involved in their education (from typical excursions, and local festival celebrations, to unique tuckshop days that help prepare for primary school independence, and teacher's day takeover celebrations).
We went around looking for the best childcare for many months till we fell in love at the 1st sight to this centre, after friend's recommendations. it's a great partnership we build with the tutor (yes, we have a dedicated tutor to journey on my girl's development) & teachers to build my girl's character, which can be way harder than solely building academic excellence alone. We see genuine care, virtue-based choice of language, problem solve independence and many more. Space is wonderful, high ceiling, gardens to care for the environment as one of Montessori principle - how i wish i was taught with this principle when i was a kid. Buddy system allows her to care for others, be it younger/ older. Thank you, Cherrybrook, for being our companion in the journey.
The teachers at Cherry brooks East Coast are excellent. Our daughter Sophia started PG there when she was 18 months and is now in N2. Throughout these few years, we have truly experienced how caring and patient the teachers are.
Previously while searching for a good childcare/ preschool, a friend recommended cherrybrooks. After our previous experience in another infant care/ child care, we realise that nothing else matters as much as having caring teachers who love children.
Cherrybrooks’ focus on character development (teaching of virtues) also struck a cord with us. We felt that it is more important than other academic achievements for children of this age.
So it was a pleasant surprise when Sophia can learn to read quite easily with the way they teach phonics. Her Mandarin has also improved a lot. (We hardly speak Mandarin at home) At times, she comes home from school singing Chinese rhymes and speaking to us in Mandarin.
Their Montessori education helps in developing Sophia’s fine motor skills. We can see her wanting to ‘help’ with chores around the house.
Cherrybrooks’ tutorial system has also been helpful. Sophia’s tutor offers good parenting tips, tiding us through the toddler tantrums. We are happy that we can start to see the fruits of teaching of virtues to Sophia.
All in all, Cherrybrooks east coast is a really good preschool.
We moved our son from another preschool in the East to Cherrybrook when he was in N2. No regrets so far.
We like Cherrybrook's virtues-based and Montessori approach. While they have montessori work time, the languages (english and chinese) are taught using other non-montessori approaches, which we find very effective. The teachers really take the time to observe and get to know each child. The assigned tutor works closely with us on all issues pertaining to our child. Can tell that they truly care for our child.
The school also encourages socializing and mingling between different age groups, which is great for single child families.
Why do you like Cherrybrook?
Because of everything. The most important part is my teachers and my friends. Ava (6)
