Mr Lau is a very patient and committed teacher that tries his very best to make sure all his students understand the chemistry concepts. He would find out on the concepts that his students are weak at and focus on them. He answers all his students' questions and make sure they have a clearer understanding of the concept.

Though I've only been at MLC for a brief period of time, Mr Lau has been very approachable, accepting of any questions asked. He is able to break down chem concepts for better understanding and also gives insights into answering techniques. Mr Lau is really an amazing teacher, I have been with him since Sec 3 and he has greatly improved my results. Honestly if you are reading this, you should really just give him a shot. His understanding of the syllabus and what’s required really helped him to explain the concepts to us in a very easy-to-understand way such that I have much lesser things to memorise as I have already digested and understood most of the content. He also does not beat around the bush and just gets to the most important and crucial things required for A levels. Personally, I managed to get an A in chemistry at A levels and much of it was thanks to him. Even though I didn’t finish 13 mcq questions due to my bad time management, the hacks he gave for practical and written papers really helped a lot. Thank you Mr Lau❤️

Despite studying hard by myself, I obtained worse results than I expected for my JC2 term 1 exams, and eventually joined MLC in March. When my friends first recommended MLC, I was surprised to see the 4 booklets of summaries they had been provided with and felt convinced enough to join. After finally getting the booklets, it really helped a lot in condensing the chemistry syllabus, which included the practical, inorganic, organic and physical aspects of chemistry. Not only was it small and convenient to bring and revise anywhere, it also contained all the important concepts and summaries needed. Moreover, Mr Lau was engaging during his lessons and continuously encouraged his students to ask questions, which really cleared up many of my misunderstandings and filled in a lot of learning gaps. Even if one was shy to ask in front of the whole class, he would walk around and not hesitate to clear up doubts or confusion from any students. He also often used real life analogies and situations to represent different chemistry concepts which made it fun and easier to remember rather than blindly memorising. He also provided a lot of revision materials and worksheets in the weeks leading up to A levels to strengthen our foundation and master difficult questions. Without Mr Lau’s dedicated assistance, I would not have gotten an A for A level chemistry. Thank you Mr Lau !!!

Mr lau is one of the best chem tutor i've met. He explains concepts that are easily misunderstood clearly and emphasise on important points that i may overlook making chemistry much easier to understand. He also provides really useful notes which summarises the key points making it easier for us to revise. Not only is he great at teaching, he also understands the different strengths and weaknesses of his student and he has great rapport with his students. Even though I was retaking my A levels without any support from school, i breezed through chemistry easily because of Mr Lau's guidance. He would provide test papers and numerous resources for me to practice on my own to prep me as i did not have access to mid years and prelims like other students. Mr Lau is the most understanding chem teacher i have met. He teaches like no other as he breaks down tough chem concepts for his student to easily grasp. Under his guidance, I was able to understand the concepts much easier and able to apply it to questions. His notes and summary are very useful for studying for exams since the key points are all there. Furthermore, when I have any questions, I am able to ask him for more explanations and he would patiently explain till I understand. Mr Lau has mentored me in various ways throughout my JC journey. Chemistry wasnt my favourite subject back in JC, especially organic chemistry. I had difficulties understanding and visualising how different organic compounds undergo the different reactions. At the start of J1, I found it hard to understand chemistry because of my weak foundation. No matter how hard I tried, I still faced difficulties when trying to grasp certain concepts. I then decided to seek help from Mr Lau and he has helped me in many ways. The notes were very relevant and concise, which was good for last minute revision. Mr Lau was always cheerful and patient in answering all my queries even if we had to stay after class for very long. Mr Lau was my chemistry tutor throughout my 2 years in JC. As a combined science student back in secondary school, the H2 Chemistry syllabus was a huge jump for me and my basics are not strong. However, Mr Lau never see this as a problem. He was very dedicated and encouraging to all of his students, he is willing to spend his time for us, be it for consultations or for a chat to check on our wellbeing. He also gave us notes that he did which are really concise and comprehensive hence it is really useful when it comes to revision. Not only did he taught us in understanding the contents, he also taught us how to answer different Chemistry questions so that we can secure marks in the examinations. I only joined Mr Lau earlier in J2 for H1 Chem lessons. In J1, I really really struggled a lot with chemistry (I scored an S grade for my promotional exams) and my foundation was just very weak overall. However, after joining Mr Lau, I was already able to get a B for my chem term exams even though I had only been with him for almost less than 3 months in J2! From then on, my chemistry became better overtime with concise notes and his effective teaching methods. Even throughout the circuit breaker, online lessons were not an issue as they were still equally as engaging as real-life lessons, I even decided to opt to just go for online lessons altogether. Mr Lau's lessons and materials really helped me be 100% prepared for my A Levels and chemistry became a much easier subject to handle.

Mr Lau is the best chemistry tutors I have ever seen, and I call it a blessing to have him as a chemistry tutor. During school lectures, I often find it very diffucult to study chemistry, let alone understand it, since I am weak in Chemistry and my grades were often not ideal, which demoralised me a lot. However, under his guidance, I am able to understand concepts so much more easier and able to apply it to the questions. Over time, I started to see grades such as a B or even an A surfacing on my result slips for chemistry, and I was delighted, since I didn't had very high expectations for chemistry. This is Duncan Lee, I joined MLC at the start of J2 with a starting grade of D/E but as soon as Mr lau started to teach me I saw immediate improvements . Mr lau is a patient and innovative teacher able to dissect complicated topics and feed us this information in such a way that's easy to digest. Mr lau also makes his class enjoyable for everyone in his classes. I’ve always struggled in grasping the concept of chemistry, but it was eliminated once I came to Mr Lau. He helped me understand chemistry instead of relying on memory work. This really helped me pick up new concepts faster and made revision much easier. I’m not gonna lie but sometimes his lessons do be kinda quick and I may miss or am unclear of certain explanation HAHAHAHHA. Luckily, his lessons are recorded so during long school breaks or before CCA I can visit the MLC website and rewatch the lesson recording (exclusively for MLC students only!!) I also struggled with my j1 topics but thankfully, Mr Lau offers unlimited AND FREE consultations along with last minute revision courses or crash courses before examinations. As I have taken part in these courses, I can tell you that it was honestly really comforting to be given solid 2-4 hours a week to focus on the selected topics with professional help. The tips and tricks shared really stayed with me all the way. This is just a mini plus point but if you’re hungry during lesson, MLC actually has a free flow snack corner for the students to snack on HAHAHAHA ALL IN ALL, Mr Lau is a really fun teacher and he made chemistry lessons enjoyable for me. Despite his strictness, his constant care can be real comforting, especially during intense time periods like before prelim or As. If you are looking for a chem tutor, Mr Lau is your guy no cap

Mr Lau is a teacher who does not mind going the extra mile to ensure his students are able to grasp concepts. His extra worksheets that he prepares for us have certainly helped me to pinpoint where my weak areas are and have also helped to strengthen my foundation and thus has helped me to gain confidence to answer bizarre questions. This is because he arranges the questions in these worksheets according to how the different concepts for each topic are tested. As his student for 2 years in JC, he never fails to deliver concepts at a level that helps me to understand better and consistently stresses that understanding is key and not simply pulling together different concepts and trying to force fit as the answer which comes from mere memorisation and regurgitation of the content. Not only that, there are special seating arrangements for his classes so that we can have a more conducive learning environment and thus apply what we have learnt more efficiently as we can clear our doubts more easily whether from him or our table mates. As such this highlights Mr Lau’s effectiveness in his teaching methods. Last but not least, his concise notes/mind-maps especially in organic chemistry have certainly helped me in appreciating what Chemistry is all about and thus aided me greatly in my revision leading up to A levels. They consolidate what have been taught and have allowed me to clear misconceptions. To end off, whenever you feel you may be going on the wrong track when answering a question, always ask yourself “has Mr Lau mentioned this before” and you are sure to score at least a B in A levels.

My tutor at MLC, Mr Chen, is always very patient in teaching me certain concepts in Chemistry, when I am still at doubt. Every time I have a question related to chemistry, he would be willing to take his time and go through how to solve it step by step with me, which helps me learn which concept to apply for which question. Other than the teachers, the resources provided is well sufficient as MLC provide “cheat” sheets which summarises all the main points and key things that we have to remember for our exams. It has helped me be able to memorise better as I have all the resources on one page.

MLC was a genuinely enjoyable place to learn at. Lessons move at a great pace, with information dissemination and application spread throughout the lessons. The tutorial is organised in such a way that increases difficulty step-by-step. They often showed gaps in my knowledge which made me have doubts, which I could clarify immediately. This cycle of mistake into clarification really helped me to remember the many small details necessary for chemistry. The notes they provided were a godsend when it came to memorising the large chunks of information found in many chapters in chemistry. Not to mention, they have free snacks. I personally believe that chemistry in the A levels is a really difficult subject, but with MLC, I often enjoyed my time doing chemistry.

However, after joining MLC my passion for chemistry was reignited. The teachers in the centre are truly the best. They were able to simplify the entire syllabus in a way where i was able to understand it easily. Besides the excellent teaching methods, they were also very caring and made the effort to record down the lessons so i could watch them when i was not able to attend lessons.
