Reviews of DON DON DONKI City Square Mall
They were open until 12AM which we loved. Although the store was not as big as to the one in Japan or HK, it’s packed with goods that are worth trying. Their sushis were on sale at night time, I think they were around 20% off.
All you might need and more Don Don Donki Shop.
It was my favorite place to get Japanese ready to eat food.
Very affordable and a great variety and choice.
They sell, snacks, sushi, noodles, bento boxes, sashimi and even beer.
You can eat at the designated area near the shop.
Definitely recommend 👌
Interesting shopping experience. Part of City Square Mall, Kitchener Road, Singapore. Basement level 2. Huge. Extensive variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, food items, fish and sea food. Plus Plus. Self check out makes payment and movement faster. As a bonus it has a dining area in the centre of the shop. Definitely worth a visit. Huge discounts on most items.
Don Don Donki at City Square Mall offers a vibrant and unique shopping experience, bringing a slice of Japan right to Singapore. As with other Don Don Donki outlets, this store is packed with a wide range of Japanese goods, from fresh produce to snacks, household items, cosmetics, and even toys. One of the first things that strikes you when you enter is how packed the shelves are. The layout, while a bit chaotic, is part of the charm it’s like you’re exploring a treasure trove of Japanese products, many of which are not easily found in other local stores.
The selection of fresh foods, including sushi, sashimi, and bento sets, is impressive. The store often has promotions on its sushi and sashimi, making it an affordable option for Japanese food lovers. Their hot food section, featuring items like karaage (Japanese fried chicken) and takoyaki (octopus balls), is a highlight for those seeking a quick bite.
The prices vary, with some items being reasonably priced and others on the more premium side. However, the quality of products, especially fresh produce and imported goods, justifies the price for many. Staff are generally helpful, though the store can get quite busy, especially on weekends.
Overall, Don Don Donki at City Square Mall is a must-visit for anyone who loves Japanese culture, food, and quirky products. It’s a fun place to shop, explore, and indulge in all things Japanese.
An excellent shop for Japanese groceries and snacks. While certain fruits and vegetables are pricier due to being imported from Japan, the majority of items are reasonably priced. The store offers a fantastic selection of beverages and packaged foods.
Got kinda addicted to the bizarre nature of shopping in a Donki. Good prices, except for the “perfect Japanese fruits”, can be busy with lineups to the tills. Staff are friendly and the sushi to go is awesome (compared to anything in Germany!!). Would love it if they open a location in Berlin!
Conveniently located at City Square Mall, another great location for grocery shopping or meetup with friends.
I simply love to shop at Donki, looking for bargains as they have special deals all the time. They also sell vegan/ vegetarian products there, which I love.
One can also sit and eat their roasted sweet potato there.
First time dining in the seating area of donki and i am impressed! Good space and many tables and chairs available. Am surprised to find microwave and hot water provided too! Not sure if this is a all outlet thing as it is my first time. But was a fun experience shopping inside donki and having the meal right outside! It's like a picnic indoor and will definitely do it again!
Nice takeaway foods!! Visited on a weekday lunch and there was such a wide selection available that were still coming out of the kitchen. My rice set was really yummy. There’s also seats available at the small eating area, which had many available seats as the individual food stores are currently closed.
Besides the usual supermarket, they provide eating place for their sushi, sashimi, bento, etc with reasonable price and portion. Highly recommended. I will visit it every weekend to try all their menu.
Cheap and good! To dine there and enjoy a hot cup of green tea, bring your own cup, buy a bottle of green tea, and use their microwave.
Love that there is a space with tables here for us to dine in. The fried oysters and seared mentaiko salmon was really yummy and affordable too!!
The third branch in Singapore. Disappointed with no 24 hours shopping, given its strategic location opposite Mustafa center. It would had compliment Mustafa center very well. It was marketed as the largest branch, located in the Old toy r us slot in basement 2. However a quarter of its store is dominate by its eatery, leaving a rather tight supermarket and retail section.
Same selection of stock as their sister branch, nothing really stand out here.
Still in its chaotic mess in its infancy of opening. Hope it is back to normal condition ASAP.
Absolutely amazing Japanese food supermarket 🥰
Huge variety of food, candies, sake and Japanese beer 🍺. The prices are affordable too 😊
I LOVE THIS PLACE.
It’s nearby, convenient & I’ve compared their prices with their Orchard Central Flagship store. This City Square Mall’s items are mostly $1-$3 cheaper! It’s a secret. 🤩
There’s also Starbucks/ NTUC/ Saizeriya which are my 3 top visited stores as well. The only downside is if you’re driving, parking can be rather expensive. But if you’re taking MRT, it’s pretty straightforward just that you’d have to lug everything back home which can be unpleasant.
The only complaint I have about the carpark is that when entering, the hump is sooooo high! It’s kinda scary as well? I feel like seconds before going down a 90 degree plunge, the same as a rollercoaster lol.
Can get many Nice Japanese food here. Great deal for shopper.
Nice change of atmosphere. Remember to take utensils from the cashier. Most food is precooked and heated on display dont expect it to be fresh.
Has good range of products and dedicated restaurant within the store. Excellent service and at a good price
Aomori hotate jyu and buri hira nigiri sushi 🍣 for lunch.... Great selection of delicious Japanese food.
lots of japanese products
lots of discounted item
lots of fresh need (fish, crab, meat, chicken, squid, etc)
Impressive range of Japanese products at reasonable price. Sendai Wagyu Beef A5 at $30+, fatty blue fin tuna at $20+. There is also a food court at the exit serving Japanese food. Great place to get Japanese ready to eat meals and produce. Download app to earn points.
Supermarket selling mainly Japanese products, I enjoy coming here to buy the sushi/sashimi, hot food and sukiyaki meats. Poor selection of sake. For the same items, prices are higher here than in the other supermarkets. They have a in-house foodcourt area with 6 Japanese food stalls. Draft Sapporo beer available!
I always like this place because i enjoyed Japanese food like sashimi.
I had the Salmon Ikura don. Too bad they do not have a branch in the east....sobs.
The full name of the stall is Tokyo Heijoen Niku Syokudo. Located inside Don Don Donki Food Court (City Square Mall), you are spoilt for choice for quality beef or pork. I ordered Kamatama Gyu Udon, which is udon noodle with raw egg yolk and beef stew set plus miso soup and pickles (more commonly known as kimchi). Marvelous taste! I will surely be back for more!
Love this place! Lots of Japanese & snacks. That in-house music get stuck to my head for days haha.
Wide range of japanese products and many seatings for you to dine in. Clean and spacious. My go-to-places especially for quick fix of sashimi! 😋
Large Don Donki outlet, with food court, nice!! .. there's a dining hall to eat in as well!!
Love the experience, extremely colourful display throughout and the tannoy repetitive played the song 'Don Don Donki", does test one concentration in searching out the English description of products. Good range of food, beauty & household items. Great for an afternoon of browsing.
Must be there before 4pm else the variety of cooked food is limited.
Stepping into the largest outlet of Don Don Donki at City Square Mall was a true delight for any avid shopper seeking a vast array of products. The sheer size of the place was impressive, offering an extensive range that catered to various needs. Despite being a single-level store, it still managed to capture the essence of Japanese product shopping.
The spacious layout allowed easy navigation through the aisles, giving shoppers ample room to explore the diverse offerings. What particularly stood out was the dedicated dining hall, a thoughtful addition where patrons could relax and relish their food and drinks after making purchases at the cashier. Additionally, the presence of shops within the dining hall offering delicious ramen added an extra layer of convenience and culinary enjoyment.
One of the highlights was the freshness and value for money of their products. From fresh produce to unique items, the quality was commendable, making every purchase worth it. For anyone seeking Japanese products, this place is a haven. It closely mirrors the shopping experience found in Japan, despite being condensed into a single level in Singapore.
In summary, Don Don Donki at City Square Mall is a paradise for Japanese product enthusiasts. Its vast selection, combined with a dedicated dining hall and fresh, value-packed goods, makes it a highly recommended destination for an authentic Japanese shopping experience in Singapore.
The familiar DDK look and feel and product offering. But somehow I feel this outlet is more 'decorated' than the other outlets with bigger props. It feels more festive.
It's a great place to shop n a variety of cooked food for dining n take away....I have been to don donki City Square for few times....you can go n shop if you like the food there
Hamburg steak stall was ok, since they prep food upon order. But ready to eat sushi was so disappointing, sushi rice is hard & cold. No longer fresh. Unagi don contains lots of delicate bones & taste of rice layer underneath wasn’t nice.
Many Japanese products for reasonable price.
Limited choices, quite small compared to Japanese ones
Cool place for me to get my fav japanese food. Opens 24 hours I think .
It is smaller than the other outlets but still has a great variety of cooked food choices!
Always come out with several bags of stuff...including a yummy quick lunch!
Have lots of Japanese food and price are reasonable
Some of the things are very value for money.
One of the bigger outlets in Singapore. To get there, take mrt via the Nel line, stop at Farrer Park mrt Station to go to City Square Mall. The store is at Basement 2.
Really large outlet which wasn't too crowded even at lunch time on a work day! There was a wide selection of cooked food, sushi and sashimi as well, as well as a large seating area! Will be back!
Good place to pick up all Japanese items but its slightly pricy if they are not on specials.
Not the same as in japan but it dose sell 80% of the stuff ,price bit more expensive here ,the food is fresh if u craving for some nice beef and fresh block of sashimi and willing to spend on it I guess it a great place to come shop.
Its been more than two years since covid
That we skipped this place. Its still an awesome place to shop for groceries and such. Plus a good place to dine on Nipponese noodies or gohan + me🐖ts &
Seaf🦐🐟ds. Plus a mouthwatery wagyu beef skewed that must try. Co$$y but worth the bite. Great to be back to carry on makan.
It has a dedicated area to eat & relax... The best part is the ready made food at $6-$10 which is not only economical but realistic for those already working. Good place to bring your partner/friend to explore a piece of Japan. Thank you DON DON DONKI!
I love visiting place at city square mall to buy Japanese food and snack. The best part is they seel cooled food also, sushi shashami , fried chicken yummy eat there too. Just ask cashier the cutlery while checking out. You can use dining area for now to eat for now days , but do check this if you are going to eat there if facility is still available.
The only bad thing about Don Don Donki is that song they play on loop (how do the staff stand it...?).
Anyway, this is the best outlet I've been to. It's large with a higher ceiling, so you don't feel overcrowded. The produce is always fresh, the staff are efficient and polite, and the variety especially for cooked food items is delightful. A great place to browse.
Best Don Don Donki island-wide, best selection, best deals, I come here confirm spend. Other outlets walk one round and buy 1 small thing only.
If compared to the outlet at square 2, this is bigger. But compared to 313 and the central outlet, this is still smaller and messier layout. Has a small eating area. Items variety is not bad. There are some sushi / cooked food discount after 9pm.
They are very organised. They have seats with charging ports to consume food that you've purchased. They also have mini restaurants to grab some food. Loved the vibe of the store. Can find many kinds of Japanese goods.
Good place to shop for japanese foodstuffs. Wide range reasonable price
My 1st time there even though I heard loads about it. The cooked food section is packed to brim with people right before noon. Wide selection, value for money for takeaways. 10 over cashier counters, queues cleared up fast since you are expected to pack your own stuff with the plastic bags given. Cashiers can still chit chat at peak hours so..
Their pre-marinated meats are hassle free, easy to cook and taste great. Pricing is (surprisingly) comparable with Fair Price. Don't forget to bring your own bag
Used to be my favorite place for Japanese products. But after covid.. quality drop so much in the food section.. fruits no longer big and rare.. sushi no longer fresh
Great selection of groceries available for every Japanese fan! While it may not be as big as it's Japan counterpart, it still stocked with a sizeable amount of consumables and other lifestyle goods.
I just love don don donki and this is the biggest one I've come across in Singapore. They have a wide array of food - fresh, prepared and packaged. Very big so easy to wander around the aisles.
Very limited amount of sushi and sashimi. The salmon head is so tiny compared to the ones sold in Jem.Cant find any Japanese cheese cake.No ice pack available told to me only at check out point..(After buying sushi and sashimi)
The only Don Don Donki I visit on a regular basis.y go to place for Japanese groceries and snacks. Easy parking. The chain of stalls are stocked to the brim but in this outlet, I found it more easy to find the things I want.
Has a fairly wide range of merchandise and food items. Like the food cafe area esp when l could buy the prepacked food sets and have them warmed up in the ovens provided. Several tables and chairs are provided in the dining area. However l felt that all the DDD outlets have narrow passageways and are crowded esp on Fridays and weekends.
Don Don Donki offers affordable prices items that can be bought in Japan. There are familiar items that I've used during my stay in Japan and it's great to see them sold here in SG.
I often buy their shabu shabu meat. They offer a good price range and cuts. You may also request for seasoned steaks if you have a hotplate too. However, since it's a favored place by many, it is often more crowded than NTUC.
Great place to get all things Japanese. Sells mostly groceries but there are sections of cosmetics and other stuff like toys and household products. Checkout is fast and efficient.
The shoyu ramen was a little underwhelming. It used to be better.
The Don Don Donki(D³) has a nice variety of things like snacks, drinks, toys and alcohol. They also have a dining place which, although is a little expensive, tastes pretty decent. It was nice to just get it to try it out. Their alcohol section has a relatively wide variety but i feel that it is smaller compared to the clarke quay one where there is more(of the expesive ones also).
Good store for Japan produce, ingredients, packed meals, snacks and more. Houses also a food court where some seats with usb power. But expect busy and long queue on weekends.
Generous walking space enough for a supermarket trolley. Huge selection of Japanese items. Economical prices for cooked food as many competitors in the mall.
This is my favorite don don donki out of all the others in Singapore, the crowd is not so cramped, lots of selection and it's not like a maze like some of it's outlets. It's one of the bigger ones with its own eating space and readily accessible by MRT.
Wide variety of Japanese snacks and supermarket produce. Great place to eat, wide really good ramen and rice dishes and sushi. I love the knick-knacks and snacks.
Big Japanese themed supermarket in city square mall! Interesting stuff you can find here and great variety of take out Japanese food. Queues can be long to get in with covid safe management measures
Love shopping at dddk as usual. Lots of things to buy, regularly have new items also. Most impt, long queue but moves super fast. Except the cashier i gotten today wasn't very friendly. But probably a one off thing.
Nicely organized and clean market.
So many delicious foods and take away meals are very authentic Japanese
Good place to get Japanese items with wide variety. Pricy speaks quality to some item. But Not the food court ... You will be disappointed as to my family. Cheers
Favourite outlet in Singapore with good variety of food and grocery items, and the least chaotic! Sad that the drinks corner changed to an alcohol bar instead ):
Big and spacious store. Conveniently located at Farrer Park MRT. Usually get the salmon don ($8.80) from Donki, and also this yellow bottled pipe cleaner ($4.90).
I will post in Japanese. We sell a lot of Japanese products, Japanese-style ingredients, beer, etc.
We also have nigiri sushi, seaweed rolls, and bento boxes.
However, even though it can't be helped, it's quite a price.
Kyoho is higher than Shine Muscat.
The watermelon 🍉 and melon 🍈 were quite small.
When it comes to food, there is so much to eat!
Breakfast and dinner are packaged at an affordable price👍
However, if you are thinking of cheap whiskey prices like Don Quijote in Japan... you may be a little disappointed when you visit 😌
It contains food imported from Japan. Fresh food should be local ingredients. Taiwanese tourists should buy Japanese food biscuits or instant noodles unless they want to eat them, but the prices are much more expensive than in Taiwan. It is recommended to come and take a look.
When I traveled to Singapore, my accommodation was nearby, so I went there every night and bought pudding, jelly, and beer.
I like it because it’s clean and has a variety of Japanese products.
I stopped by 10 times during my 15-day stay. There are so many delicious foods. By the way, this is City Square Mall.
Even though it's less convenient to get to than Dungeon Pugger's 100AM store or Orchard store, I feel like they have far more bargain items.
Just looking at Japanese fruits will dazzle you. If you know how to taste them, you have to pay a high price. Some Japanese foods are very popular among the younger generation! If you have nothing to do, can you go for a walk? ? ?
If it's Japanese, it's available, but it's about three times more expensive.
So I only buy natto and baby cheese here.
There used to be sushi rolls, but not this time.
Original Review:
Had a bad experience with a rude staff today - lady with pink/purplish hair.
I had just finished purchasing my items at the self-checkout counter, and I placed the shopping basket down at the table for packing. This was the packing table nearest to the checkout counter and also nearest to where food utensils are placed, which was important for me because I had bought food. As I was taking my own bag out of my own bagpack for packing, the Staff came over, rudely claimed she was working on thee table, and proceeded to shift my basket to another table before I could even react. This is extremely rude and impatient behaviour. I had only bought two items - a chirashi don and a pack of bananas. If she waited just awhile more, I would have finished packing my things. There was absolutely no rush, it was past peak hour, around 2+ pm, yet she impatiently chose to disrupt me and physically moved my purchased items without my consent.
Terrible service.

Update on 21/12/2024:
I had emailed don don to report the incident, and after getting more details from me (via screenshot of receipt), they apologized and inform me that they informed me that their manager will be speaking to the staff concerned (see photo; paragraph containing staff’s name intentionally omitted for her privacy).
Good to see don don taking action, so have upgraded review up to 4 stars (from 1). If you encounter something rude staff, do feedback to don don!
Interesting place to visit to experience Japan without leaving Singapore.
Although the supermarket is not large, it has all kinds of goods, which is very good...especially bento boxes and food imported from Japan. There are many choices...and they are delicious, but the price is a bit expensive...
