I had a vintage skirt I needed to downsize (waist) by a few inches. Ivan did a great job keeping the integrity of the fabric. After years of wearing, the skirt is still holding up. Came back again because the buckle was creating a small hole in the fabric and was at a loss on how to fix it. All the skirts and jeans I needed to downsize were done beautifully with no obvious trace of where it was taken in. He will also advise on the aesthetics of the finished piece if you want things done a certain way. I wasn't tight on time. Gotta give the man time to work his magic. Prices were very reasonable as well.

Ivan is a complete sweetheart and a master at his craft. Alterations (e.g. taking in, letting out, shortening hemlines) and mending (e.g. loose hem, broken zipper, small tears) are done professionally and at such an affordable price! He is my first port of call for anything I can't fix myself. Having been a customer of Ivan's for 5+ years, I'd just like to help address some negative feedback here: 1. Ivan sews everything himself in his tiny hole-in-the-wall space, unlike many alteration studios that outsource the work. This means he has full control of the work quality, but also means he's swarmed with orders in the peak period (holiday season to CNY) and we have to be reasonable about the timeline we give him + let him know if something is urgent so he can help prioritise it. 2. Ivan's work is not shoddy by any means. I've used both cheaper and more high-end tailors, and Ivan's work quality tends towards the high-end despite his price point. That said, as a one-man-show he does not have the time to source for the perfect matching thread for every customer, so if that's something that matters to you, you could either bring what you need to him or find a different tailor. 3. Ivan may have a sense of humour that takes getting used to, but he's never rude. I appreciate his honest opinion and his down-to-earth nature. If you're looking for a professional, affordable, no-nonsense alteration tailor - Ivan's your guy!
