Pretty opportune to do this tour today with @persp8ctives. Learnt many new things today from Patrick, definitely looking forward to do his other tours once measures are lifted! Have you noticed the difference in architecture at Nankin Row? Is there any meaning to this difference? Do you know the story behind white and black Bak Kut Teh? Is it really a matter of taste preferences between the Hokkiens preferring a herbal soup base, and the Teochews favouring a peppery soup base? What about the teh in Bak Kut Teh? How did that come about? What about our local Nanyang breakfast? We know that the Hainanese are good cooks, but is it true that their culinary prowess was gained by working for the British? There's so much to learn about Singapore's history. If you're lazy like me, let's leave the hard work to the team to research, and just eat and drink our way while listening to stories, except, they're based on historical facts. Also, it's really heartwarming that they give back a portion of the tour fees to the community, and raise awareness of local businesses. Can't think of a better way to spend 3h on my day off!
