Reviews of A Cube Bistro
This is already my 3rd visit (first two visit were during lunch with colleagues) and I specially brought my hubby today for dinner. The place is cosy with good vibes and it just allow me to relax and enjoy my food. The lunch and dinner set was awesome - well hubby said where on earth to find such pricing. The waitress Nora is attentive and has good memory - she did not write down our orders and can remember awesome! I am talking about remembering orders for 6 pax !
The starter soup impressed us along with the generous cheese spread on the garlic spices bread. How can we continue with the main when we were already melted by the appetiser?
Main was as good too, its quality food and portion came just nice. The happy endings dessert portion came in just perfecf. One can feel the love the chef puts in and you know it if you does cook at home for your love ones.
The location is rather “ulu” and not so exciting so I hope more people can give a try - anyway Sg is so small so just grab over to try it for yourself. Dine in with good ambience and good food.. wait no more !I am certainly going back the 4th and 5th time in September soon!
Nestled discreetly amongst preserved two storey shophouses in Singapore's MacPherson industrial area is where Chef Richard Chan currently holds court. I've known Richard for more than 10 years and followed his creative genius and trajectory in fusion cuisine. Each time, I have been challenged and wowed. He started off bringing in Japanese elements into French-Italian & American classics. Now we get Korean, Malaysian and China. Each element masterfully integrated into tha canvas of classic pasta, pizza and mains. Expect to taste and discover how these tantalizing ingredients bring the dish to a new fusion-umami level--seaweed, yuzu, matcha, goguchang, kimchi, tamarind, anchovy (ikan bilis), lotus roots, LaoGanMa chili sauce, and even Marmite.
We tried Richard's interpretation of the duck confit, duck pasta and mussels stew, and sampled his new creation: matcha lava cake. He brings east and west home on your plate in one sitting and you know you'll be back for more.
This place came highly recommended, but you'll never know till the eating is in the pudding. And boy, the braised Beef Cheek is to die for. It simply melts in your mouth with all the expected exploding flavour of a really good cooked meat! Chef Richard puts in more than 8 hours to prepare this red wine infused meat. And if you love fatty pork, go for the Porchetta. Not only it is tender and flavourful, the skin is roasted to crackling crispiness that goes so well with cold beer. And their signature mussel dish, (3M) Muscle Mussel Mouclade, it is thick, creamy and bursting with the flavour of the sea. Dip it with garlic bread or like one of us, slurp up the entire bowl of broth! It is said you can tell a meal is cooked with heart and passion. Every dish served, certainly live up to this passion! Kudos and thank you Chef Richard for your hospitality and the delicious meals. Shall recommend and bring more kakis over for another great makan experience here!
Both hubby and I are picky eaters and agree the pork belly is so good. Super crispy skin and moist meat. Later on the chef came out and told us the pork belly was tenderised for 5 days, oven baked at low temperature over a water bath with vegetables to induce the aroma and moisture into the meat. Never know my estate can house such award-worthy food people!
Very nice dinner and chef Richard was really nice n spoke to us about his journey and food. The staff are also very polite and change our plates frequently . Every dish was fabulous and definitely deserve a shout out. Nice ambience. Just that parking a bit hard to find. W b back to try the other dishes.
Chanced upon this swanky new cafe along MacPherson Road. This is a stretch where I find new eateries from time to time, I was so mesmerised by this place for the skylight that shines natural light into the restaurant - making it such a cozy place to catch a bite and just laze. The food is also very enjoyable. Glad there is a new place here to chill and relax.
Lovely little gem of a place. Food was delicious. The choice of infusing the dishes with Asian inspirations is a definite refreshing change from your usual brunch spots. Also a great place to chill, love the skylights!
Lovely and cosy dining experience with attentive and friendly staff. Chef Richard was very approachable. Food was great!
Excellent service with very yummy food! Came here for dinner and loved the calamari, fiery wings and pizza! We had a combination of shrooms and breakfast pizza as one of us can't take pork. Will come back and try more dishes!
Food is much better than the usual cafe fare. We ordered the fiery squid ink pasta and duck confit. Both are delicious, though they could go with slightly less salt. Will be back to try other items.
The pizza is nice. Like the cheesy & their bread. Brunch fried chicken skin a bit too much flour, not worth to try. Chicken wing also strong flavor, sour & sweet.
Last evening, wife and I together with our neighbour went for dinner at A Cube. I was reluctant but it was at wife's behest that we eat at A Cube. I've neither food preferences nor eating places but after this dinner outing, the experience left me feeling rather emotional, on the very good side and I tell myself that I would have to pen a review. The only other dining place that I go away with such good feelings is at Shashlik. And A Cube feels like a younger version of Shashlik. Here is why: the ambience, the people, the serving. A Cube serves Western food but it isn't posh, which makes the experience relatable. The people are really nice, they show that they are looking forward to engaging the diners. The chef would look over, take a glance, as if to make sure that his food is right for us. I appreciate that because he reciprocate when I nod my head approvingly in return. As for the food, I'm not picky on food but I must say that while most times food fills my stomach, at A Cube the food rejuvenates. The chef would have taken pains and pride and passion to check that the ingredients are fresh and cooked just about right. I grow organic vegetables. I, you, will know the difference. I have the same feel good takeaway whether at Shaslik or A Cube. 25 years ago till now, I fondly remember Shaslik. I hope that A Cube will also start a similar journey, which decades later, I can still be dining in the same MacPherson eatery with my wife and come away with the same good feeling as now. Thank you.
Ordered this party pack from @a3b.istro, the food is nicely packed and yumz, it adds on to the restaurant feel while having a party at home. Though this restaurant is relatively new, the chef was previously from an Italian restaurant and most importantly, the service is superb as it caters to my request.
A Cube Bistro's delivery service has completely transformed my at-home dining experience. Craving a taste of authentic Italian cuisine, I decided to order their pizza, and I was genuinely impressed. The delivery was prompt and the packaging ensured that the food arrived fresh and hot, just as if it had been served straight from the oven.
The pizza from A Cube Bistro was a delightful revelation. Each slice was a perfect balance of flavors, with a delectably thin crust that had just the right amount of crispiness. The toppings were fresh and generously portioned, and the blend of cheeses was an absolute delight. It was evident that the chef's dedication to using quality ingredients shone through in every bite.
Overall, A Cube Bistro's delivery service brings the flavors of Italy right to your doorstep, ensuring that you can enjoy a gourmet dining experience in the comfort of your own home. If you're in the mood for authentic Italian comfort food without leaving your couch, I highly recommend A Cube Bistro's delivery service for a truly satisfying and convenient meal.
Love the ambiance of the place! Tried their pizza and weekend pork special.
The pizza is great!! Absolutely love it! For the fusion pork main course, it felt like I was eating chicken rice. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the pork belly very much 👍🏻
Will definitely come back to try more of their dishes.
Service, Food & Ambiance is impeccable!
Good for business meeting, family gathering & couple's date!
Recommend their unagi pizza & truffle pasta!
Will come again :D
Everything was nice at this place! The food, the ambience, the decor. The fiery pasta was the best. We enjoyed the black Bao as well. Service was good and was accommodating to turn off ac where it was too cold. Will definitely come again.
Chanced upon A Cube Bistro on Christmas Day and decided to walk-in for a coffee. Was enticed by their space, setting, and music. The staff are super friendly and attentive. We were greeted by them and even offered with a complimentary dessert despite just having coffee. Will definitely come back for their food one day!
A very nice bistro with very nice food, good service and spacious interior’
We ordered calamari, duck pasta, bolognese and red wine stew beef. The pasta were fantastic, the sauce of the beef is amazing too just a tad bit salty. Overall a very satisfied lunch on a Sunday
Unexpectedly very tasty pizza with beautiful burrata cheese and another one with mushrooms. Quick serving.
No photos as we ate everything too fast.
Was recommended by a friend, and I was glad I went with her recommendation! Ordered a dinner for 10pax with delivery on National Day - ordering process was fuss free; food arrived on time and packed nicely (well presented and no spillage). Chef Richard was extremely helpful and recommended dishes that will suit the crowd. The food was great - we enjoyed the roast chicken, confit trout, porchetta and grilled gochujang prawns. Lots of thumb ups from the family.
Had the barramundi and mushroom pizza for lunch - fish was nicely seared and crispy, and the sauce with ikura and fried lotus was fantastic. Pizza was very flavourful and chewy - the seaweed creme gave it an interesting taste. Will be back to try more dishes!
Award winning Chef Richard (World Gourmet Awards 2022) helms this resturant. Family roasts takeaways for weekends are his specialty. We have been having them for years, starting during the pandemic when dining out was not allowed. We have followed Chef Richard from his time at Creative Eateries, Dopo Teatro, Vineyard and now his new venture at A Cube.
The fish is an extremely fresh sea bass with roasted legumes by the side. The chicken is marinated for 4 hours then roasted with sides of roast potatoes and charred cauliflowers. We ate on site as well, their wines go well with the food. The ambience for a new resturant (2 weeks new) will mature in its own unique way over time. We look forward to see how the resturant develops, knowing that the food quality is top notch.
One of the better restaurants out there, must try. :)
Brought my family for an occasion, we appreciate the good food and service.
New bistro along MacPherson road. Food was tasty and nice ambience. Looking forward to an extended menu in the future.
Ordered Calamari & Fiery (prawn pasta) for dinner. Love love the calamari's pickle on the side, and calamari is fresh and batter is crispy, seasoning on point!? Love that its bite size, not those gigantic chewing-gum-bangle-looking frozen calamari. Fiery pasta is mildly spicy, and prawns is fresh ngl. The wobbly wobbly (panna cotta) has milky aroma and texture is perfectto. Prices are pretty friendly, nice place to chill after work or catch up with friends over weekend! And the bistro smells damn atas, you gotta visit it to smell it hahah and of course eat there la pls support good food & fresh ingredients :D
food is awesome and the service is impeccable! it's a hidden gem and don't be fooled by the surrounding shop house settings
The home-made pizza is awesome! Highly recommended to everyone.
Though the smashed burger is not to my liking.
Will definitely recommend this place and will go back
Love this place - great food, good selection on the menu - beautiful restaurant with charming staff. The chicken Bao burger is immense!
Shout out to Nora the nice waitress who helped us set up our cake for secret birthday celebration for my friend! Thanks for giving us a great experience!
My friend and I came here initially just because it’s the closest place for us to have pizza, and this place turned out to be such a gem. The pizza was so delicious that we had to get another one! And the atmosphere was nice and cozy, not too crowded at all even on a Sunday dinner time. 10/10 recommended!
I loved the furnishing when I first came in. The menu have a lot of special dishes that intrigued me.
Had an excellent takeaway flat white.
One of the better flat whites I've had.
Strong yet milky notes come through. Unlike other flat whites which are mostly milk with coffee.
Glancing at other diners, the food looks good. Service was excellent
Will be back to try food and desserts.
Lovely place. Food was absolutely delicious.
Pork belly crust was so crispy. The chilli sauce on the side was a nice add on. Unfortunately it's only available on weekends
Queen pizza had a balance of flavours from the cheeses.
Would definitely come back again to try other food.
Food was generally good, just a bit too salty for us. Will visit again definitely.
Went to this new Bistro@macpherson for a old friends gathering. The ambient was nice and warming. Services was attentive and in place. I am a big fans of the savory dishes and the chef of this restaurant did it really well. Credit to all the staffs we have a wonderful experience and time there.
Visited when they had the 50% off pizza promo. We were impressed with the Diavola sauce which was so garlicky and on point. Duck confit was also good but would have preferred if the rice was more savoury.
Good, honest food with interesting and creative touches added. Big, bright and airy dining area. Good coffee. Menu prices may seem a little steep but the quality of ingredients and cooking justify them. Under-patronized in our opinion.
Loath to share this hidden gem, but.. I have to tell all you folks who love Italian fusion food. It is so good. I am one who normally would not even want to try such a mixed fusion but after the first plate of pasta I was sold!
Hidden gem in the middle of a busy macpherson road, refreshing ambience and great food
Very quiet cafe with amazing food and very helpful staff. Dishes are quite creative and different from traditional brunches.
The air was a little stale when we went in.
Food was acceptable. Butter chicken burger (if I remember the dish name right) was big in portion
Superb restaurant. I wish i can give 6 stars. Staff and food are top notch! Ambience is like dining in a 5 star hotel
Got a great surprise this evening stumbling upon this place. Food was great!
Had a Chicken Bao and spicy aglio oglio. Will be back!
Yummy pasta, will return
Had the black bao burger. Crispy bun, thick patty and minced pickles did it for me.
The food is good. The atmosphere is also nice. Glad I got to try out this new place.
Nice place, good food
Very nice pork belly, prawn pasta, and "ugly buns" - garlic and cheese!
Good ambience and food! Hidden place along macpherson.
Nice environment with delicious food and great service.
