Reviews of Books Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store
Veryyy vibey and LOTS of books. Like the biggest bookstore I’ve ever seen. SO many cookbooks. A good place to buy gifts or souvenirs too.
Lots of stationary/journals/pens.
What a great bookstore. I absolutely love this place. They have everything you could be looking for. From fiction to non-fiction, calendars, stationary, they have it all! 📚
They have so many kind of books!!! Heaven for bookworms 😄
You can find piano, violin, & guitar music book here.
Their stationery are cute & complete! 🥰 1 hour is not enough.
The bookstore in Singapore with the most titles and diverse selections. You can find almost any books here. The good thing about this bookstore is that the books are unwrapped so that u can browse it.
The only issue I have with this store is the staff, they can be impatient and rude sometimes
I’ve been in bookstores in Asia, Australia, South Africa, North America and Western Europe and this is the best bookstore I’ve ever been in. The staff at the information booth were excellent.
Been to bookshops all over the world and this is by far still my favourite of all time - great selection with something for everyone in a chill, relaxed environment with little surprises tucked in every corner. Pro tip: Best free place to hang out if your significant other is shopping in orchard road to make time go by really fast!
One of my favourite places to while away a rainy afternoon… The cheery staff will help you find exactly what you’re looking for, even if you didn’t quite know yourself… Easily the best-stocked bookstore I’ve had the pleasure of visiting, and thus the most inclusive. Every individual is catered for, so no one is denied the fun of umming and arrhing over two books, before inevitably treating themselves to both. Local authors are celebrated and traditional customs are kept alive though print and photography. No one language dominates, and you feel so at peace by the time you eventually make it to the cashier, you barely noticed you’ve spent all your grocery money … Still, the occasional week of rice and beans is a small price to pay for the feast you’ve given your heart, mind and soul.
Nice book store. In lieu of the River Valley branch that had to close due to redevelopment of Liang Court Shopping Centre. A tad too crowded. Saturday September 4th 2021, 1615 hrs.
So nice to be able to be in a book store. It helps us keep our humanity by tactile touch of the books, walking down the aisles, smell of the new unopened books, dialogue with service staff & finally the checkout at the cashier.
The staff Ms Ho was very helpful in helping me register for the 2-year membership ($38.50) which is the best deal ... there is 1-year & 3-year membership. Service staff were professional, polite & patient.
One of the most complete book stores that I’ve been they have almost all collection from various authors! Love the atmosphere and you can find your favorite books here!
The best bookstore I have ever bin too. I love romance books and I found myself nearly buying every book. A must visit for book lovers from every genre
The place was nice but quite big so I got lost. They sell merchandise of games and studio ghibli merch too. Although the place sells various items, I probably would not go there again as the items are quite expensive even though I am a local in Singapore.
Ghibli anime goods attract many shoppers.
It feels a bit sad that Kino gets smaller over the years. But this is a reflection of society as it moves towards e-commerce and ebooks. Still, a wonderful refuge of books you can browse in silence in busy, noisy Orchard Road. This is also a good spot for getting manga in Japanese, English, and Mandarin.
The membership still offers good value for discounts. Some of the stationery here are often only available in Japan otherwise, which is a big draw for those looking for quality stuff.
Kinokuniya also has an online store that’s quite updated and do deliveries. I wish they have an ebook service as well.
love it! one of my favorite hangout spots in town. had to get my monthly book fix! staff were really helpful as well.
Love this bookstore. Has something for everyone. Even toy soldiers and Blu Ray discs. Insider Tip: Many of the books are wrapped in plastic. However, you can simply bring them to the Customer Service counter and ask to "View the contents of the book" and the staff would gladly remove the plastic wrap for you. Easy peasy. Have a good one and cheers.
This bookstore is huge. It looks like a library and not just your typical bookstore. There are vast selection of books. What I like about this place is their online directory. You can search the book on their online directory and you can see the availability and which shelf to look. It was so organized. Staffs are also helpful. If you can't go here, you can just order your book online. They discounts for members. I like this place.
This place is heaven for bookworms. I thought I would be done in 30 minutes but ended up spending 2 hours in the store. The staff is really friendly and all the classic books are readily available. They've even got figurines, key chains, stationery and SO MUCH MORE. Highly recommend!
A rather spacious store that sells a wide assortment of books and manga / anime merchandise. Some of the products can be rather pricey, but there are cheap stuff too, I suppose. There is only one such store in Singapore, which makes it somewhat special.
I attended a new book event by Dr Jamous Lim to understand Asia Economics and the changes that are developing across Asia countries. It was interactive and fun with the q&a plus the book signing session.
Kinokuniya never fails to surprise me with the contents they carried.
If I ever not sure where to go, Kino will always be one of the go-to place for me!
They currently delicates a corner to feature a bunch of Sumikko Gurashi merchandise ! 😍
They also have a very interesting corner. Section named ‘New Age’.
Featuring Astronomical Books.
Fav place for our family. They kids love this place the most as they get to pick a new book every month. Whenever we were there, we get to spend up to 4hrs with the kids to choose the books they like.
Kinokuniya is probably the best bookstore in Singapore. It’s located on the 4th floor of Ngee Ann City right in the middle of Orchard Road. Kinokuniya has a wide collection of English, Mandarin and Japanese books. When I’m looking for a book, this is my go-to place. There’s also a nice stationery section, and the kids section has a large assortment of engaging books for kids of all ages. With so many bookstores disappearing (remember the large Borders at Wheelock Place?), I hope Kinokuniya continues to thrive and stay in Singapore for years to come. This is a good refuge from the seas of shoppers at Orchard Road. Highly recommended!
As a person who loves books, I absolutely love this place. The first time I came here, it get like it was an endless maze of books. It was never ending, with every single genre and book you could think of. I was literally overwhelmed at the vast number of books. Just as I thought I had finished my, another huge row started around the corner. Overall, not disappointing at all!
Great service! Had a book reserved for me and I collected without any fuss. The titles are fairly comprenhensive so this is probably THE PLACE TO GO TO if you looking for a pretty difficult title. This is probably the last of the mega bookstore in Singapore. I suggest calling ANY BRANCH and the assistance rendered is impeccable! GREAT PLACE N WILL RECOMMEND U VISIT THEM!!
Best place for book worms. Plenty of design books here. Mostly english.
The staff at the Information/Reservations counter is extremely helpful. Even without me asking, he left his seat and returned with the books I was searching for. I am very amazed at his kind and generous gesture. I appreciate his help!
Secondly, the cashiers were very good in guiding me on how to sign up and become Kinokuniya privilege member to enjoy 10% discount. I highly recommend getting the membership if you are an avid reader. Overall, a wonderful experience and definitely will revisit!
The books I bought are:
(1) The Truth About Employee Engagement: A Fable About Addressing the Three Root Causes of Job Misery by Patrick M. Lencioni
(2) The Coaching Habit: Say Less, Ask More & Change the Way You Lead Forever by Michael Bungay Stanier
(3) Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action by Simon Sinek
Good and well stocked and very wide selection of books!
Fabulous bookstore, we browsed and immersed ourselves for hours, found so many treasures. It was one of my favourite experiences from our stay in Singapore, and a must for anyone who has a love of books or Japanese culture. Our girls were blown away by the variety and choice of children’s and teen books on offer, they can’t wait to return.
Loved the space; there is vast variety of books and it’s pretty big. Almost all the books I was looking for(all fiction) I could find in the store easily. The store location was easy to find as well.
A great bookstore! Always with plenty of variety and plenty of space. Nicely laid out, and it provides helpful guidance to where to find bestsellers. I visit frequently.
Very large bookstore, wide range of books, manga, magazines and stationery. Could get stuck in there for hours without realising.
A great variety of books that were arranged nicely. Also a cozy environment!
Holy moly. If you want to go to a BIG bookstore in Singapore. Please go here. If you think you saw the store there is a whole big and awesome area behind. And the staff is really helpful. And they have all the new and older books. I like it a lot. Thanks guys.
Was planning to buy 1 book ended up going home with 4. Haha.
Now, THIS is a proper bookshop! Every visit to Kinokuniya since 2002 has been a thrill for a hardcore bookworm like myself and I love how I have been able to find so many books and magazines I can no longer get in my home country.
It is like holy grail for Japanese books. Very supportive staff too
Cosy. Spacious Expensive. Stationary corner small. Book choice is fabulous. Anime range is very wide. Japanese books aplenty.
Shop floor area is far too large with too many exits that lead no where. Tried to retrace my steps back to the service elevators nearer to the concourse between Takashimaya and Wisma but couldnt locate it in the "maze". Was looking for books that will stock up my new shelves.
This is the first time I have been here. I love this bookstore. It has a lot of good books and field guides in nature and ecology.
Most expensive book store in the world - Amazing selection of books - but super expensive - capitalism gone mad - you can get the books at half the price online - rewards program is also a joke
Favourite bookstore in Singapore, hands down! The range of collection and spacious areas make it hard not to spend hours over here! Definitely a place for those who loves books.
One of the rare surviving physical bookstores with an excellent selection of books, including non-English books that are reasonably priced, helpful staff both around the aisles and the information counter and generally a bustling atmosphere that is welcoming. A great way to spend a couple of hours.
My most favourite bookshop in Singapore. I can spend forever and a day in this place!
variety selection of books and friendly staff! do look out for QR code around the store tho, to help look for any books that you’re looking for
You who love fancy stationery love this place. You'll touch almost everything and end up buying something. It's hard to leave empty-handed.
I love the Japanese literature section, and they also have some studio ghibli stuff
Books of many languages and genre, one of the best book stores in Singapore
Recommend for all
Bought a 3-year membership for my daughter. She loves going there especially for the super wide range of manga collection.
Amazing place to chill and go through the huge array of options available. It's very cosy and the staff are friendly. Do give this place a visit. You will not be disappointed!
Always great for books. Highly recommended.
One of my favourite bookstores of all time. 💞
AMAZING PLACE FOR ALL BOOKWORMS!!!! I LOVE KINOKUNIYA! If I had to choose a comfort place Kinokuniya is a must. The huge array of mangas spanning to light novels is breath taking! not to mention the amount of Danmei's there could bring me to my very knees!
Nice place to bookventures
Abundant choice of books!
Yet not a single seat available, too bad for the book finder companion. They wouldn’t want to stay for long
Best bookshop in Asia in my opinion. Huge selection and they can also order what you want - also a great spot to visit with kids and for gifts for all ages. Kinokuniya never disappoints!
It is a large book store where you can find almost every book you need.
There are sooooo many books , as a book worm kinokuniya is heaven tbh , the have a wide collection of books , medical book , languages and a lot of mangas , kpop books , this is truly heaven I recommend kinokuniya for every book you need to buy 😌👍✨
Various books, biggest dan the best bookshop. I love this place.
A lot of books to see.
Staff are friendly.
Nice place to walk.
Come and see.
Best bookstore in the entire Singapore. However, Chinese books are predominantly written in "traditional chinese" and not the modern simplified version. That might be because most books are written by Taiwanese and not mainland Chinese authors.
amazing collection from literatures, biographies, textbooks to chinese translated books. bigger than i expected
Great book store for all genres and interests
Nice book store with a lot of choice
Really nice bookstore where you can get everything.
It's a really well-stocked bookstore. I also love going there for the cozy atmosphere despite being a very large shop.
It has a nice vibe of many genres when you go to the area. However, it is difficult to locate your books without your phone.
Overall experience was nice and fun.
Kinokuniya is a large bookstore located on the 2nd highest floor of Takashimaya shopping center, if I'm correct. They also have other locations that aren't as big as the Takashimaya store.
You're practically guaranteed to find whatever book you're looking for, from guides, to cookbooks, and even manga and comics.
It's a personal favorite place for me because I always find what I want:)
Kinokuniya is a great, wonderful bookstore that house wide variety of books. I have enjoyed going there to explore and manage to get some new books that prove to be addictive, exciting reads. The book store has plenty of space for people to browse and staff services are excellent and professional. Love the stationery sections too. Found things from Japan that are good quality. Love to visit there again. It is definitely a place where I find comfort and warmth.
A great international book chain, I've never been to a Kino branch that was not worth the visit. Always designed for bookstore lovers, always something interesting to discover. This one in Singapore is great. It's almost a circle so it feels like you're in a never-ending bookstore.
Great selection of every topic under the sun, could spend a day here!
The best bookstore ever! Amazing selection of books but also stationary and other fun items!
Highly recommended! This place is a must go for people who love bookstores with a wide variety of books. They have friendly and helpful staff. So it's perfect if you're looking for a book. You will fall in love with the smell of books in the atmosphere and they have nice interior too. The one in Takashimaya is the biggest bookstore I have been..
By far my favorite bookstore in SG. It has such an extensive collection of books, I love going there so much. This store sells so many different genres, languages and types of books, I am quite convinced most people should be able to find what they want there :D
Great bookstore with a wide variety of books, stationery and other stuff neatly organised into shelves according to extremely specific topics. I often like to wander around the store just to pick out books which pique my interest, thereby allowing me to learn about a great diversity of subjects and read works by countless authors. A must-visit for book lovers!
The only major bookstore in Singapore after Borders closed down. Wide selection, good and efficient service. Great place to buy hard copy books as gifts. There's a gift-wrap service too.
Great place to be, friendly staff in store and on the phone. They have large selections but that really depends on the genre you're looking for. There is also a cafe if you decide to grab a bite with coffee or tea while resting your tired legs.
Stationary is available, they carry common items, don't expect something rare like a table-top standing magnifying glass.
They carry DVDs and Blurays too, not sure of their collection since I'm not looking for videos.
Buying books online is possible, but to me, it is a bad idea as delivery can take up to 4 weeks, (my 1st and last order took almost a month to arrive) there is an online bookstore in the UK that ships for free to Singapore and is much faster than them. 1 star less for long delivery wait time.
The customer service at Kinokuniya is excellent. The gentleman at the counter searched for the books and even led me to the exact place as I had no idea how to find the location. He even taught how to search. Very patient! The books and stationery at Kinokunita are organised well and very inviting. I wish there are more bookstores in Singapore.
Heaven for nerdy like me !!! Also like how easy to search for book here with the search devices.
I was here and so happen that Jim Rogers is here for book signing.
Huge amount of book in multiple languages.
Today I intend to shop for things I want here. But I don't have what I want. It's true that there are a lot of books here. But most of them are focused on reading a lot, like reading conscientiously.
I couldn't find the pop up book.
Looking for tarot cards like this is much less common than at the Central World branch in Bangkok. In conclusion, this place is not our style.
The place is spacious, the items are unique. Sell kpop albums too. It's really complete here.
There's always great music playing in the store, and it's a great atmosphere. I look forward to seeing what kind of anime OST I can listen to every time I visit.
As it is a Singapore branch, there is a wide selection of books. In addition to books, there are various other items such as stationery and character goods.
Even if the product is out of stock, you can have it imported by going to the service counter. There seems to be no additional charge.
However, the price can be twice as much as in Japan. It's not unreasonable considering the shipping charges, and I'm not asking for a cheaper price.
I came here to buy Chinese manga in Singapore.
I was hoping that they would only have Doraemon and Dragon Ball, but I was disappointed in a good way.
The lineup exceeded my expectations, and I was able to purchase all the manga I wanted to purchase, and I was very satisfied.
Another nice point is that if you purchase a book for more than 100 SGD, you can get tax exemption.
Reader's Paradise... I love their idea of surprise gifts to put under the tree!!! You buy a package (books, puzzles, games...) With a theme that you can choose, but the present remains a surprise for you and the person who receives it!! 🤩
There are books in English, Chinese, and Japanese.
The largest bookstore in Singapore.
It’s small compared to large bookstores in Korea.
