I recently visited Balance Coffee in Balestier, a delightful discovery for those who appreciate a quiet, spacious cafe with well-balanced coffee and decent food. Having enjoyed their offerings many years ago when they were called Geisha Specialty Coffee at Burlington, I was eager to see how they’ve evolved. The braised pork rice remains a solid choice, offering comforting flavours that are both satisfying and familiar. But it’s their coffee that truly shines. The balance of flavours is just right - not too acidic, making it a perfect mid-day pick-me-up (even for someone who typically avoids coffee after noon!). The coffee is very reasonably priced, too. The cafe itself is very spacious which contributes to a calm atmosphere, perfect for those seeking a quiet spot to relax or get some work done.

For filter coffee passionates, there is the place for you! The boss is an expert on coffee and shares his wealth of knowledge for good quality beans. Unlike other commercial cafes where you just go for popular menu, you know what you are actually getting here - real quality beans that are clean! It’s gonna be our regular filter coffee spot!

Entered this place randomly. Coffee is okay. They served not only muffins and burgers, also served Chinese noodles and food. I was full and didn't have a chance to try it out. Maybe I will try some on my next visit.

5 stars for the coffee! Was at HDB hub sending my daughter to tuition, searched for coffee around and saw the good reviews of this shop, walked the well deserved 18 mins across the PIE for this! Indeed this unassuming little coffee shop did not disappoint! I ordered Flat White at very reasonably priced $3.50. The cup may be small than what I usually get but it is sufficient. The coffee tasted really good, giving the “kick” that I always look for for a “good coffee”. The flat white was a little sourly but creamy. It was really a good cup! This will probably be my go-to place for coffee fix every Saturday morning!

Fyuh! Even their Latte is strong! That’s the way I like it. The barista is attentive enough that she notify me when I ordered flat white that the size will be relatively small, so I choose the latte instead. And it didn’t dissappoint! The espresso is still strong with milkyness, what a heaven for a coffeeholic, the art is detailed too. This is how a great coffee is made!

Coffee tastes strong with the right level of acidity without burning the pallette . These are the award winning Panama Beans of the Geisha Coffee fame (circa 2011 to present). Must try 💯 Some initial misunderstandings; but was glad the shop was gracious and, overall, a happy experience recommended. 👍 👌 🙆‍♂️ 🆗️

Coffee place at my hood! They offer a really value for money coffee card - 22 cups at $55, latte, cappuccino, flat white, hot or ice at your choice. In most days, their coffee is nice and aroma but like all cafes we experienced, there are times you feel something is off. Overall, good coffee and thanks for setting up your shop here at Balestier!

A coffee joint within the city fringe … the building is extremely tiny with a car park that is slightly awkward given that it only accepts chip cashcard. Having said that, the cafe is relatively quiet joint with a wide variety of food served, given the shared kitchen with the pub nearby. The coffee is reasonably priced with cashless payment methods preferred. A $4 cafe latte is a rare find nowadays. Drip coffee is highly recommended too. The CP is high though can’t compared with the kopitiam style.

This coffee is the best place i have ever been to and would deserve 6/5 stars. It just provides a perfect place to study, relax, calm down or just enjoy the best cappuccino in the city. They just got a knew coffee machine, which makes the experience unforgettable. Price is extremely good compared to what you receive. Don't miss out on such a chance. Everyone in the team is just nice and proactively reaches out for feedback or just a chat. Makes every bad day less bad and good days even better.

The caffe latte is great and has nice latte art on it. The prices of the drinks and food are reasonable, and relatively lower than most cafes! I tried the Aglio Olio and unfortunately the taste is very disappointing. There are strips of brown algae/kelps in it and comes with sausage + fried egg.

Very nice cafe with great ambiance. The coffee was very good and especially considering the price. Latte was only $3.8. Definitely the best coffee in the area. Also ordered the pasta which I believe they order from neighbouring restro, which was also good.

Had a flat white for just $3.50. I enjoyed the flavour and mouth feel of the coffee but can't comment on the different notes as I'm not a coffee connoisseur. The cafe has a nice vibe and both indoor and outdoor seating. If I'm in the area again, I'll know to come here for a nice pick me up.

Cosy place with good coffee and very reasonable price. A place to grab simple mains too. Staff are very friendly. Surely will come back again for a nice chill or to read a book. Indoor and outdoor seats available.

The coffee is nice but the food is terrible. Ordered nasi lemak and mince meat rice lu rou fan. They told me the nasi lemak today is not blue pea rice but white colour as they ran out of blue pea. I asked is still nasi lemak rice right they said yes. The nasi lemak turn out to be normal white rice, 3 cucumbers, 2 types of pickles(??!!) 2 small pieces of chicken that is not even 1 chicken wing size and 1braised egg(!!?????)No peanuts and crackers and not a proper chicken wing and braised egg for nasi lemak? I know I should not expect alot from a cafe that specialised in coffee. But the food is just terrible. After I complained they refund the money for nasi lemak to me and apologized that the shop next door ran out of ingredients and took initiative to come up with something fusion. Next time just come here for coffee and don't bother to order food.

Excellent locale, beautiful interior. Geisha coffee is fruity and tangy espresso style. Cappuccino is affordable too. I live around the area and have been coming to this cafe for close to 4 years to work/study/relax. It's really cozy and the coffee is value for money too! (Edit: They'll be moving to a new location and taking a break for now, not sure where or when they'll return.)

Great hot breakfast served by the team here on weekdays for those staying in Citadines Balestier Hotel upstairs. Bright and fruity coffee roasted by them in house also a treat for my stay every day.

Super friendly owner who goes beyond his duties to help coffee addicts resolve issues with their grinders and recommend suitable tools for making coffee at home. I've been having many cups of coffee and buy many bags of beans from them since i came across them before covid!

Owner is a great host. Was browsing some beans to try and he enthusiastically made samples for us to try before purchasing. Each sample was exquisite and beans were sourced from Guatemala and Ethopia. Tasting notes for the samples ranged between creamy, lemon and even lychee! Appreciated that he even went to the extent of explaining the why behind his entire roasting process, pourover method, and water to coffee ratio. This owner is a hidden genius. He's scored himself a loyal customer today from sheer coffee passion. Would definitely head down again next time!

Cozy cafe to go for a nice (and affordable) latte and croissant. If you are working or staying in the area, they have a coffee card that will set you back by only $2.50 per cuppa!
