Reviews of Bami Express
The banh mi here was really good and very affordable. The baguette was crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside, and the bbq chicken filling was tasty as well. The spring rolls were a little burnt, though. Tables are limited, so be prepared to takeaway unless you're very lucky or eat at odd hours.
Solid Vietnamese restaurant on 2nd floor of the building. If you're facing the washroom, don't go left. Go right and turn left.
I had the classic saigon bahnmi (5.5) with a bit of lajiao and loved it! The aunty was quite kind and they dont accept credit card.
They also bake their own baguettes, so extra points for that. The taste was very similar to what I had in HCMC. So nice. I'd love to come back!
What a gem, should have tried it earlier. Had the bbq and Saigon, shared halves. Bread was amazing, light crunchy outside and soft inside. Saigon was packed w flavour and the veg cut through the richness. Bbq chicken was good too. Highly recommend and will be back.
Pretty decent ban mih. Got the Saigon and bbq chicken. Both were not bad ! But the best one in sg is still the one at Geylang!
The store is located next to the hawker centre! Haha took awhile to locate the store.
Estimated waiting time for the banh mi was around 30 minutes when I went on Sat 12:30pm.
The baguette was really delicious - soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside! The fillings were generous too. Price of the banh mi wasn’t too expensive as well, ordered the chicken and pork belly one, each cost $5!
Will revisit again when in the area :)
Sometimes they just nail the food. I don't love their bahn mi because the only spice you can have if from sweet chili sauce and I think that's a bit gross. Would rather chili peppers. But the bread they make themselves is really good so maybe they can improve their sandwiches one day. But the vermicelli bowl is super good.
Definitely a Banh Mi worth trying if you’re in the area.
Went on a weekend lunch.
Tried the BBQ chicken banh mi, the crispy bread provides a great texture when you bite into it followed by the pickled vegetables and the well seasoned chicken.
Bear in mind they only have four tables if you want to dine in.
I'm Vietnamese and I surely confirmed that the Banh Mi of this shop is really authentic, especially Roast Pork & Sai Gon Banh Mi, they are the most delicious Banh Mi I haven't eaten in Singapore. The price is cheap too! Must try!
This is literally a hole in the wall but do not be deceived by the looks . The sandwiches are delicious and value for money . The servers are Vietnamese so their standard of English language is average . Be patient with them . Repeat your orders if they did not hear it well the first time . Avoid the lunch crowd - the office ladies and men descend upon this eatery during lunch . I usually go before 12 noon or after 1:30 pm . However they close early eg 3 pm or 4 pm .
There are only 5 small tables so I will order takeout.
Service was efficient. From order to food being serviced was around 5mins and every table was occupied so it was quite busy.
The Banh Mi was delicious. The fillings were fresh and well balanced. The bread was not as sweet as other places, which is a plus in my mind.
Only down side is there is limited dine in seating and due to popularity of this place, it maybe hard to get a seat.
A small hole-in-e-wall shop serving affordable & delicious Banh Mi (chanced upon it when I went to the nearby coffee shop previously)! I had the Bami pork belly banh mi, which comes with crispy baguette (baked in-house), tasty roast pork & a touch of sesame sauce! 😋
IG @pingguo301
Freshest and tastiest Vietnamese baguettes! Every bite was so flavourful and crispy I’m in love. The coffee was so potent it literally jolted me awake — perfect for sleepyheads. Very reasonable prices as well. Will be back!
one of the best affordable bahn mi places around
price point is around $6~ for the sandwich and $1 for an iced coffee
have been here on 2 occasions and it has been pretty consistent
if i’m not wrong they are closed on sundays and public holidays so do take note!
30min wait for Sat lunch and it was worth it. The baguette texture just right, thin crispy skin with soft but not soggy inside, and lightly warmed. All the ingredients I expected were there with extra cilantro and spicy fresh chili. Extra points for the nicely pickled carrots and jicama. Just one thing I would prep differently is that the pork belly should be sliced thinner especially when the skin is not crispy. But would definitely make a trip here for banh mi.
Run by a few vietnamese.
The bread is a highlight, freshly baked on site. Served warm and crusty.
The fillings are generous and well marinated. Use of fish sauce is prominent and pickles are excellent. Good value.
4 Jan '22 - Ordered the pork belly which was actually roasted pork belly (Siew York) which turned out to be chewy. Bread is crusty.
What a steal for Banh mi at $5! Got the bbq chicken one and the chicken was so tender, juicy and fragrant. Limited seating but I guess we can always takeaway and eat on the go!
Super duper Banh Mi.
Why?
1. The baguette is freshly baked;
2. The fillings are the closest you will find Singapore to what you get in Vietnam;
3. Even the Vietnamese say its fantastic.
Honestly not bad! Plus cheap. 5 bucks for a banh mi and 1 dollar for a coffee. Honestly can't complain!
Will probably be going back frequently for take aways to eat in the office.
Visited on 18 March, late afternoon. Limited seats available. There was a constant queue while I was there.
Ordered 2 bami and top up $1 for a drink. Had the traditional saigon and bbq chicken. Prefer the saigon over chicken. Baguette was very crispy! Love it. However, the dressing can be a lil more as it tastes a little dry. Missing some basil.
Overall, a good viet option in tanjong pagar area! :)
Nice, crusty yet light baguette was the highlight of the banh mi here. It is stuffed generously with ingredients. I did think that this banh mi lacks a little bit of flavour compared to the others i’ve had. Something felt missing even though i added chili sauce in it but it might be a personal preference. Still worth a try😊
Best banh mi and closest version to the ones I’ve had in HCMC so far out of the few popular ones I’ve tried in SG (banh mi saigon - close 2nd, ba buong, hi banh mi, nhung kitchen, sandwich saigon). The only downside is they do not have fresh chillies if you want it to be spicy. Portion size is just right for a female but might be a little small for a male. Banh mi Saigon wins on the portion size but it was a little too much for me.
Very nice bami! With pickled veg , meat, I added on fried egg. Bread is very crispy. Dine in seating is limited. Abit small, not filling.
The banh mi here is delicious, light and refreshing - good pate, pickled vegetables etc. The freshly baked bread, crisp outside and soft inside, is so good and such an easy bite I’d eat it plain all by itself.
The banh mi is incredibly good. The bun is crispy at the outside and soft in the inside. The ingredients is flavourful. They are kind with the ingredients. Would definitely eat again.
Good bahn mi—all the ingredients were nice.
The bo pho (a daily special) is really good, with chunks of fatty and tasty beef.
Small eatery, good for a quick bite. The bahnmi we ordered is tasty. Will be one of the place in our list when we crave bahnmi.
Oh I love their BAMI SAI GON ($5) with a very flavorful combo of pork... It's very authentic taste like what I had in HCM... worth to come back!
Had BBQ chicken banh mi. Was a little dry and wish there was more meat inside. The bread is good.
Fresh and flavorful just not my taste. That said, think I need to try a different sandwich next time. Will return for another shot as this place is revered by the locals. Long lines starting before noon on a weekday.
The best Bami in town!!! Their home made bread is light and crispy, matches perfectly with the fillings. Very very yummy and very affordable. Recommend customer to add extra meat.
Had the banh mi from here a few times. The baguette is crispy, ingredients are fresh and portions are reasonable. I usually get the Bami Saigon and noticed that the filling was runnier than usual. Realised they use chilli sauce instead of cut fresh chilli, so if you’re like me and prefer the latter, you might want to state so when ordering.
The iced coffee was ok, would have preferred if it came in a bigger cup with less ice cubes. Overall a filling and tasty meal for $6.50. Was there around 12.10pm and a queue formed shortly after. If you’re dining in it’s best to go early as seats are limited.
I'm not a fan of baguette, but this takes the cake. The queue is relatively long but the waiting time is still reasonable. Order the grilled chicken baguette, along with the iced Vietnamese coffee and paid $6 for these goodness. Baguette was cripsy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The meat was tender and marinated perfectly. Iced coffee was not overly sweet and potent enough.
Fantastic place for authentic banh mi which are Vietnamese sandwiches in crispy French baguettes. The bread is delightfully fresh, crispy crust and soft interior. The fillings are top notch and the freshness of the ingredients comes through. Highly recommended.
Trully vietnamese taste! Highly recomended! A place where u can find authentic Sai Gon food!
Probably the best Bahn mi I've had in Singapore, and I'm spoilt by the ones in Sydney and HCM before. Especially considering the price!
The bread is a particular standout, light and crispy while soft in the inside. I've tried most of the filling (non veg anyway) and I probably prefer the meatball most closely followed by the bbq chicken.
Suggestion - ask for more chilli and always add a fried egg.
The ice coffee add on for an extra $1 is also pretty worth it, a good strong Robusta with mild sweetness and milkiness.
I keep forgetting to take photos everytime I eat here, sorry!
Bread is crispy and fluffy! Would come again and omit chilli sauce.
The best banh mi I had in Singapore and even better than the ones I have tried in Saigon. Not to be missed. Baguettes are baked in-house and are perfectly light. Super generous with the fillings as well.
Baguette was freshly baked and it was delicious!
Very friendly staff and very delicious food. Got lots of cilantro inside the bread which I love.
Casual banh mi stall serving really decent banh mi at VERY affordable prices. Have returned many times. They also have vegetarian options.
Fried egg banh mi sounds boring but flavours were on point and had me raving about it the entire day! A constant short queue during a weekday afternoon, but it was no longer than a 10 minutes wait
There was a queue on a Saturday close to lunch time. Ordered the Bami Fried Eggs and added on pate. Loved the ingredients combination and it was priced affordably.
Nice, i prefer the bbq chix, the bread is v soft.. saigon is not bad too.. value for money from $4-5.5, recommended!
Well, das sandwich is average in my own opinion.
Das quantity of items stuffed in are not really that much.
Und just a sandwich alone is $5 at least.
This place is a hidden gem that most don't know about.
Located on level 2 of Tanjong pagar plaza, it isn't the easiest to find.
However, if you work in tanjong pagar you must give it a try. The most delicious bang mis ever.
Highly recommended
It's really a pity that more people don't know about this place :)
Amazing Bahn Mi at affordable price! It was definitely filling and portion was just nice. Friendly owners too!
Cheap n yummy banh mi!! Very fast too.
I could have this every day if I could 🥲💗 the most affordable and delicious bahn mi I’ve had in sg!!! Their coffee is also the bomb.
Was good but not the best. Price was ok. Bread lacked flavor. Filling also lacked flavor. Still on the hunt for a good bahnmi
Great crispy bahn mi buns. Choice out of 8 fillings or so. Even vegetarian. Worth a try
Wonderful ban mi that will shred the roof of your mouth with their shatteringly crisp baguettes if you're not careful.
Authentic banh mi and quite cheap just from $5. Highly recommended
I love this place, the in house baked bread is so good.
Banh mi very good, but service not friendly at all.
Great bahnmi in tanjong pagar, $5 good value for money. Highly recommend the Saigon bahnmi
Flavourful fillings in a nice crispy bread. Will come back to try other flavours.
The bami is good. Quite a crowd on Sat morning
Decent price and the bun is so crispy!
Gud fud..nice place..and nice service
Delicious. Top value for money.
Yum
A banh mi store located near Tanjong Pagar Station that is popular among Japanese people. I visited on the morning of a public holiday and had Banh Mi in the eat-in space. The banh mi bread was crispy and fluffy, and the vegetables inside were fresh and delicious. The iced coffee I ordered with the banh mi was sweet with milk and sugar, and went well with the bread. 12 Singapore dollars for 2 banh mi and 2 coffees.
<Pros>
Fresh home baked buns are used
Buns are crispy and light
Cheap price
Chicken (menu#4) is juicy and generous portion
<Cons>
Sometime staff concentrate to bake buns
menu #1 is a bit less ingredients
Revisited again.
Menu number 4.
This one is filled with juicy, sweet and spicy chicken.
Very satisfied. Recommended from number 1
Revisited. Menu number 1 banh mi
5SGD to take home for lunch
I would be happy if the ingredients were a little more crispy.
Still, there are plenty of ingredients. The bread is crispy and fluffy
For some reason, fried bread was included as an extra.
If you want to enjoy freshly baked bread, come in the morning.
If you want to enjoy different types of ingredients, lunch is the time.
======
A Vietnamese sandwich shop that is cheap and has a lot of ingredients.
I heard that they had started a morning service as well, so I went there.
He seems to be selling bread wholesale and is treated very rudely while preparing it (an old man).
Egg bak mee is 3SGD and Vietnamese coffee is 1SGD, super cheap. The bread is freshly baked in the morning, so it's very fluffy and even more delicious. There aren't enough ingredients, but it's still pretty good. I don't need chili, it's cheap sweet chili.
Recommended as always
It is located on the second floor corner of the center.
Since it was lunchtime, the place was filled with many office workers. It's fun just watching the skillfully made banh mi.
Perhaps because the bread was homemade, it remained fragrant until the next day and was really delicious.
I came here for the first time in several years. Consistently delicious. The bread is baked here, so it's crispy. The namaste here is also delicious. It's a little hard to find because it's on the second floor of HDB, but only people in the know know about it. It's crowded if you go late.
It's very delicious. The vegetables are pickled rather than raw, and the sourness goes well with the BBQ chicken and tuna. The baguette is crispy. I want to try various things!
90 points
Delicious and cheap.
Definitely banh mi.
This place is real.
Delicious banh mi restaurants have different breads.
I want to learn how to make it.
Freshly baked Vietnamese French bread, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, very fragrant and delicious.
The baguette is crispy and the toppings are well-seasoned and delicious.
I headed to the store while looking at Google Maps, but it didn't work properly and I got lost.
There aren't many places to eat, so we recommend eating them quickly.
It’s delicious, really delicious. Vietnamese baguette lovers are ecstatic. If you don’t eat it, you’re not Vietnamese.
