Reviews of Bee Kia Seafood Restaurant
We used to be huge fans and tink every dish rocks. Super old school with solid wok hei. Loves to dabao home.
Until today. We were pretty shocked and thot what happened. Was it just a once off or changes in the kitchen.
Ok most of the dishes sucks and was bad.
Good service from the lady + 2 guys thou.
The pork was tough. Chicken was just average. These 2 were the biggest disappointment.
Beef horfun - hmmm ok lor
Overall if it was a blindfolded test, none of us would guess right and probably got it as some tze char in another place.
My mum- her 1st time. She even asked why did i bring her to this place.
Everything was good not just the beef horfun!! Simple fried rice also very old school and nice, would definitely go back again!
One of my favourite old school zi char places. Been eating here since my secondary school days.
Usual favorites are their prawn paste chicken, beef hor fun, fried rice and furong egg. Even a simple dish of kailan is very tasty, full of wok hei.
Always call to order ahead for takeaways. Dining in is the usual coffeeshop experience. Place gets hot due to the construction hoarding.
My poorly taken photos doesn't do the dishes justice.
Tried this cantonese zhichar stall inside a coffeeshop at Thomson Road. Although this coffeeshop is right under a block of HDB, it pretty hidden. Plus with the MRT construction that is on-going, this place becomes even more hidden. I personally felt that it is pretty inaccessible.
There wasn't any crowd when we reached the coffeeshop around late 7pm, crowd started coming in shortly after. Being first time here, we seek recommendations from the staff. Ordered the prawn paste chicken, sweet and sour pork, mixed vegetable as well as the claypot beancurd.
First impression, portion was pretty huge. The prawn paste chicken and sweet and sour pork were the outstanding dishes for me. Chicken was crispy and well marinated, easily one of the best prawn paste wings i have tried so far.
Tried beef horfun, pork rib king and stir fried kailan. Everything damn good.
Awesome zi char full with wok hey. Kind of Malaysian authentic taste. By far the best prawn paste chicken, however it comes not only in chicken wings, but with other parts of chicken ie thigh, and chicken breast as well. Taste is fragrant and crispy! Beef hor fun was very homely taste with wok hey. Soup of the day was also omg delicious.
JUNE 2022
.........--
Went back for beef kway teow...
Ordered the omelette..
See from pic. The oil
2021
.........--
Used to be 1 of the best ever ever beef kway teow.
Now the standard drop a lot.
Sometimes the gravy is left there too long.. they just reheat the sauce.
You see the red chilli and vegetables in the beef kway teow.. already soggy .
Sometimes also not even vegetables
The only place that I eat before. Fu Rong Egg with cucumbers as ingredient.
And usually very oily.
And is use black oil.... Can see the oil from the egg.
Tats is really just about it now.
I really miss the old lady cooking.
That's it... I been coming here for almost 30 years.
the stall boss recommended the beef horfun - was very delicious!! the beef was tender and juicy. the sauce was flavourful. everything came together so nicely.
Ordered beef hor fun and prawn paste chicken for two pax. Chicken was well marinated and deep fried nicely. Beef was tender, hor fun had good wok hei, although I found the sauce slightly sweet. Ample parking behind the coffee shop.
Beef hor fun and chicken for 2, plus one fried rice take away for $22. Great value
Beef horfun is good. Prawn paste chicken is good although they use different parts of the chicken not just the wings alone only.
Expected more from beef hor fun due to raving reviews. The dish was served very fast at room temperature. Seemed.like it was already pre prepared. Lacked some wok hey too.
Prawn paste chicken is recommended. The sizes of the chicken are all different and fried well.
Other dishes are normal.
Beef hor fun was good with lots of beef. The har cheong gai was better. Crispy and nicely fried. Food is reasonably priced. The only pain here is the parking. Very limited lots in the HDB carpark.
Dry beef horfun taste like CKT but minus the sweetness and beef slices instead of cockles. But the kway teow is thicker than others. But at $5, its cheaper than most.
My favorite beef hor fun place.
Have been craving for beef hor fun for a while. I had a few at different zi char places but none hit the spot. Some had no wok hei in the hor fun (meaning not charred enough) and some just have a single dimension to the sauce.
Bee Kia hit the spot. The black bean sauce was just enough to add complexity without overshadowing the whole dish.
The hor fun had wok hei. It tasted good. (not like some which have colour but no flavour)
I came alone so I couldn't try their har jeong gai.
Very good beef horfun and great sauce. People there are ordering mainly their beef horfun and prawn paste chicken. This is def my staple food ard here.
Very flavourful beef hor fan and prawn chicken. Definitely will come back to try their other dishes. Do prepare to wait for 30 mins or more during peak dinner time.
5 stars just for the beef hor fun. Service was very friendly too when I went off peak hour. Prawn paste chicken uses fresh chicken
This is one hidden gem. Very nice beef hor fun and zi char to treat yourself after ur gynae visit at TMC
Coffee shop not airconditioned. Can be hot and stuffy due to the construction hoardings placed at the shopfront. Good food at a reasonable price.
More beef than kway teow. $12 gets you a plate that's enough for two. One of the best beefers around Balestier area. The other dish we had "Hong Shao Tou Fu" was so so. Be prepared to wait though - about half an hour or more.
Loved the beef hor fun and prawn paste chicken. The hor fun filled with wok hei. The prawn paste chicken is crispy and fragrant.
Best prawn paste chicken ever and beef hor fun!
Don’t quite know what’s the hype about this beef hor fun. It’s a bit jilat (filling after short while) and too salty. But many beef slices for $5.
Best beef horfun and har cheong gai ever. Ate gere a few times. Never disappoint.
Went Earlier To Avoid Crowd Heard... Nice Food But Not Fantastic I Would Say... However, Worth Trying~ 😊
Love the food. Good service. Fast. Food served really hot. Har cheon kai is best. Ample carpark nearby. Open only on alternate week.
Although menu is not extensive, you will experience consistently above average zi char at very reasonable prices. Esp. the oft-mentioned beef hor fun and prawn paste chicken. Hidden neighborhood gem.
Standard has is back up to its formal glory.
Portion of beef in the beef hor fan has reduced by half
Rice in sambal fried rice isnt mushy anymore.
Prawn paste chicken is a mixed of chicken parts unlike traditional mid wing only.
Famous for their beef hor fun which is in between the wet and dry versions. I think the hor fun is pre-fried and the hot sauce and meat is added when they serve the dish to customers. Try the prawn paste chicken also.
Nov 25, 2023 - note price of a small beef hor fun now charged at $6
Go-to place for one of the best beef horfun in Singapore. Prawn paste chicken is tasty and will retains its crispness despite leaving out for a few hours. It is also always fuss-free when placing an advance order via WhatsApp. Highly recommend to check out this place if you are looking for tasty and decently priced zichar.
My go to place for beef hor fun, beef fried rice and shrimp paste chicken. Best in Singapore for me. It’s crowded in the evenings so be ready to wait. Service is brisk though!
The lunch time beef fried rice is something else. Lots of wok hei, tender beef slices and generous egg chunks and beans sprouts. Not the healthiest meal in the world but one that you won’t regret.
Beef horfun and har cheong gai for 2 pax cost $16!
Great beef hor fun, but their beef can go with other noodles too
Great beef hor fun used to be better but still good !
Their fried rice and Hor Fun are to die for. Throw in the prawn paste fried chicken and you're in heaven. Reasonably priced but don't expect a full service as this is a coffee shop.
Old sch tze char that serves delicious food.Regardless of how busy, you can be assured the standard is there.
beef hor fun, har cheong gai, Fried bee hoon, sweet & sour pork ribs are our family favourite.
We usually do takeaway and despite the distance, the food is still yummy.
Whats the hype? Decent heartwarming food that is value for money.
This coffeeshop restaurant is like a classic Chinese food place in Johor Bahru. The food tastes the same too. My favourite is the beef hor fun. Some say Geylang beef hor fun tastes better, but I think Bee Kia is still bang for buck. Easy to park if you’re driving. Take your parents here! They’ll love it!
Nice zi char at thomson road. Their har Cheong chicken and Beef noodle is well know. We have tried and the taste is good. The hor fan have the wok smell so very tasty. But we packet home a little not so nice compare to dining at the place but during CB now we cannot dine in.
One of the best beef hor fun I've eaten. Will be back for more, for sure
Very delicious beef horfun. Beef is tender and soft.
Traditional Cantonese zichar at reasonable prices
Only ate the basic horfun n fried rice with an egg. Tasty n with wok hei. Fried egg done nicely n crispy around the sides. Prices normal. Once there's wokhei, wil try the fried beef noodle next time.
Been so long since I have a nice plate of beef hor fun with wok hei. Many good reviews, cannot be wrong. Will be back to try other recommendations.
Superising, their pricing is cheap. Definately cheaper than most zi char stall out there. There is no compromise on food quality as well. They serve delicious foodie. Recommend hor fan & prawn paste chicken aka har cheong gai. Its good!
Dabso seafood hor fan n har Cheong chicken. I find the chicken so so quite common but the hor fan is tasty will visit again. I order the $6 pack not worth cause the packaging is for $4 pack,
One of the best Beef Hor Fun(fried flat noodles) in town. Har Cheong Kai (prawn paste chicken) should not be missed too.
Written by reviewers as best beef hor fun. Yes a lot of beef is tender but taste is not special sadly. I generally enjoy hor fun.
Amongst the popular zichar in Singapore. Their specialty dishes are the beef ho fun and prawn paste chicken. Cash payment only.
Signature beef hor fun and ha cheong kai never fail to impress. They ran out of hor fun today and we ordered beef beehoon instead. This turned out even better than the hor fun.
Fantastic prawn paste fried chicken
Cheap and quite good. Try their beef horfan, sweet sour pork and prawn paste chicken. The horfan usually has wok hei but sometime don't...
The selection of food is not very wide. The "zichar" stall is pretty much the only active stall. Their dry beef kuay teow is awesome.
First time here. All the customers are here for the beef hofun and the prawn paste chicken. Indeed both dishes are really good.
Really old school zhi char shop!
Tasty food prepared by the chi char cook. Price very reasonable. Highly recommended for family gathering.
Not many choice for lunch but can do a quick one to fill up
Delicious the meat soft taste
(still) My go to for beef hor fun and prawn paste chicken.
Taste a bit out compared previously.
My favorite eatery for beef hor fun!!
Good food. Do not expect good service or a nice set up
Limited choice but the sinnchew bee hoon was nice
