Reviews of Louisa Coffee
Former regular of the Louisa in Taipei here. Been coming to this outlet since it first opened in early 2024. I like the clean, modern design and find that the coffee taste is about 80% what you get in Taiwan, but the real standout here is the staff, which has been consistently top notch from the start. Shout out to current staff member Mabel who goes above and beyond every time I've ever needed anything. Only minus about this location is that it's almost always filled with muggers taking up all the seats/outlets but that's to be expected at a place like this in Singapore
Donkey and I decided to escape the heat with a visit to Louisa Coffee. The cafe has a cozy atmosphere with lovely decor and strong air conditioning – perfect for a cool afternoon break. We enjoyed the soothing piano music playing in the background and ordered a mochaccino to share.
While the cafe is very comfortable, it can get a bit noisy, especially since many people were working on their laptops. It was a bit challenging to find a seat because of all the laptop users, and they even offer outdoor seating, which can be nice but also windy.
The coffee was good, and the prices were reasonable. We liked the two ways to order: as a member through the app or as a walk-in guest through their payment kiosk.
We did have one strange experience. The security guard approached us and told us we couldn't park our bikes along the walkway outside the cafe. This was a bit surprising, as most shopping centers allow bike parking. It seemed like a policy for the whole complex, not just this cafe.
Overall, we're giving Louisa Coffee a 4-star rating. The atmosphere, music, service, coffee, and pricing were all good, but we found it a bit noisy because of the laptop users. We think this cafe is a bit more like a library than a relaxing cafe.
Came during lunch hours but 80% filled with students studying. Couldn’t get a seat. Some tables just left with books/laptop without anybody. It’s an office building but there’s no seats available. Coffee is okay and fast.
cozy and quaint place to study! the cake, drinks and sandwiches are really good too. main table has ample sockets (3 pin) good for studying 👍👍 ordering is really easy either through the self service machine near the counter/scan QR code!
What a PERFECT find for a study cafe!
Saw this place online, and it was a really good place to spend some alone time or work/ study remotely.
✅️ 3 pin socket plugs
✅️ Free Wifi
✅️ Complimentary water tap💧
✅️ Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating
✅️ Aircon
Food portions here are rather small and come in a take-out concept. Here's what we ate for a full day here:
🥯 Peanut Butter & Scrambled Egg Bagel ($5.5)
This was pretty surprising. I like how the savoury nuttiness of the peanut butter gels well with the scrambled eggs and holds the bagel together with some mayo. Chewy bagel bread.
I rate: 3.5/5 🌟
🍞 Cheese Mushroom Foccacia ($5.4)
🍞 Chipotle Chicken Foccacia ($6)
Both of which come in airy Foccacia with olive and come herbs. Stuffed with some vegetables and fillings. Rather hearty and a good balance of nutrients.
I rate: 4/5 🌟
🥧 Original Boston Cream Pie ($6.5)
Definitely the star dessert of this place. It's gonna be a hit for those who love whipped cream. The cream in between was thick and light, and the fluffy soft cake went really well with the milky cream.
I rate: 4/5 🌟
Drinks ☕️
🍃 Earl Grey Latte Iced
Very watery and early grey bit was very mild.
I rate: 2/5 🌟
🍵 Honey Rooboi Latte ($5.20)
Honey scent was very light and the flavour of roobois tea leaves were not very pleasant, though it's my error when I asked for no sugar. I will add a bit of sugar next time.
I rate: 2/5 🌟
☕️ Brown Sugar Latte ($6.3)
I love the scent of brown sugar! Thick and caramelised flavour really is a delectable morning treat. Coffee didnt come off as strong, but it gives a good start to a sweet morning.
I rate: 4/5 🌟
......
Also, I would like to encourage customers who dine and stay here for long periods to purchase more than 1 item (within your monetary means) of you're staying for the full day. If not, this establishment will not be able to last with no support if everyone starts doing so. 😕
So glad that it has finally opening the very first outlet at our little red dot. Went to chill at during their newly opening for less than a week.
Did go before when I was at Taipei. They are locating inside the bookstore, had a cup of coffee.
At here, opt for iced specialty latte, very nice. Also bought a tumbler thru their membership.
Loves the place, cosy for chilling in the afternoon. There are a good number of seats, but i suspect it would be crowded on any other day.
We ordered coffee mojito, cappuccino, black sesame Boston cream pie.
The cream pie is not sweet but has a slight hint of black sesame flavour. The roast of the cappuccino is bitter, but I would have preferred a thicker coffee.
It is our first time visit your cafe.
I appreciate Wen Ting’s patient and guidance during my order.
The price is reasonable for the size and quality of food and drinks. The sesame pie is favourable without being too sweet.
The ambience is good with soft music
Nice experience
Started off on a bad note - had to wait almost a hour for seats despite coming after lunch time. I really like the space and drink options here though. The staff were nice enough to assist when ordering on their platform. But I do hope they’ll come up with more variety of food apart from sandwiches. Their cakes are lovely too. Kudos to the baristas for the quality coffee.
Some feedback though - they should really have proper signs for their tables and clearing areas. It’s a beautiful place but the handwritten notes make it look unprofessional. Maybe a sign for the table hoggers too?
Hope there’ll be improvements when I come back again.
Brown sugar latte was bloody sweet, and single origin panama geisha coffee was nothing to write home about. The taro cake is nice though. The counter service is chaotic - they just put the food there for people to collect with the number attached. Also the tables are perpetually full with people studying. Find another cafe if you're out at 3pm.
Ordered the black sesame coffee latte ($6.90) and the black sesame Boston cream pie ($6.50). The black sesame flavor was quite strong for both items, which I enjoyed and I would come back again for the Boston cream pie. However, while I enjoyed the black sesame coffee latte as well, I personally felt that there was too much ice in the drink for the price point.
First Louisa branch in Singapore. Really love the cozy atmosphere and Great coffee with nice aroma. However the food is not my favorite (no vegan option) and the portions are small.
Note that everything is self-service and it's easier to use their app to order. There is no buzzer service and the pickup number is the last 4 digits of your mobile number so you'll need to pay attention to what the staff is calling 😂
It'd be great to see more food menus (e.g. proper brunch, inching vegan options). Good for catching up with friends or enjoying some me time :)
Become my new favourite cafe. The drinks and food is nice, especially taro pie which is a must try.
Although currently the opposite is under renovation, but it doesn’t affect the atmosphere of this cafe. Price is cheaper than Starbucks.
Pros: Coffee and Boston Pie are great in terms of pricing and taste. Café ambiance is cosy with a nice window view. Location accessible via Exit E from Bugis MRT.
Cons: Some wall plugs are malfunctioned. Only the plugs on the long table and seats facing the road are working. Most of the plugs are occupied by students who seat there all day.
Savor my Mushroom Cheese Focaccia at this cafe, where ample seating and charging outlets make it an ideal spot to bring your laptop for work and people-watch from the window seat.
Not as many as kinds of drip coffee in Taiwan but the atmosphere is nice with free water and tissues. The only downside is AC which is too cold.
Ordered chocolate iceccino, coconut milk iceccino and mochaccino iceccino. The first 2 drinks very diluted almost no taste. Moccaccino too sweet. We also ordered the pudding cheese tart and super chocolate boston cream pie. I recommend only order the 2 cakes and not those drinks mentioned above.
Left my belonging there and was safekept by the beach road outlet team. Great ambience, coffee, bubble tea, cakes and crew team!
Unclear instruction for online ordering. We did not know we have to pay for the items first before they start preparing. The screen showed our order number’s status as “preparing”. This gives wrong impression.
The piccolo latte I ordered taste like too much water with little coffee in it
Nice cafe setting with nice smoothing background music. Ordered Hot Yorkshire Tea, 30% sugar, nice taste for the tea. Nice environment.
Love the black sesame and taro pies here! On top of being fluffy, the sweetness was just right. The sandwich was also very well done, with loads of cheese and toasted to a crunch. Got to try their fruit tea, especially refreshing on a hot day. Ambience here is great with lots of seating too
Very nice and cosy place to have coffee break with affordable cake and coffee. Not crowded probably because it is newly opened. Will visit more often before it gets crowded in future.
The place is quite chill to have a cuppa with friends.
Would like to feedback on the service when we visited the cafe on 28Apr'24, around 1pm
The girl at the counter is having really bad attitude. We were trying to ask for something at the counter, she gave very unfriendly response w black face, and also on her hp while serving.
Please learn the service level from Starbucks. It will help to brighten someone's day even just a smile and greeting.
This place could be great, but what is going on with the management?
On a Monday, they had taken a corporate order of large quantities of food, clearly something that had to be prepared in advance. And this meant no food would be available "until maybe 1pm"
How on earth is this possible at a mainstream chain in Singapore?
General cleanliness around the whole establishment also needs attention
I recently visited this cafe and was thoroughly impressed. The cozy ambiance, paired with friendly staff, created a welcoming atmosphere. The menu offered a delightful array of both classic and inventive dishes, each meticulously prepared and bursting with flavor. The coffee was exceptional, and the baristas showcased their expertise. The attention to detail in both service and presentation elevated the entire dining experience. I highly recommend this cafe for anyone seeking a memorable and enjoyable cafe journey. Five stars well-deserved!
2nd visit. Still too many people hoarding the indoor tables on weekends. I saw people leaving their laptops on the desk, have lunch at the opposite restaurant and go back to their table… very inconsiderate. I would suggest Louisa management should set a dine in time limit.I think 2 hours is a fair time to set. Other wise a good location to escape the crowded part of bugis
Alright coffee and Taro pie. Egg pudding tart is small and dry avoid. Nice place to chill.
Menu takes a while to load on QR code. Scones are served cold… no utensils
a variety of sandwiches in different forms - bread is quite chewy! great place to study, cold though bring a jacket!
I went to TW recently and was introduced to Louisa. I love the menu in TW! I liked everything there and prices were super affordable.
Have to say, was abit disappointed with the menu here (don't have all the nice pork hamburger etc.)
But overall, still a good place to chill, have a light meal, and get work done.
P.S. you guys have to go TW to try their actual menu!! Hope they bring the menu to SG
The prices are wallet friendly and the environment is very nice too. Totally enjoyed my coffee and pastries.
Great working spot for non peak hours. Will recommend the Boston Cream Pie and coffee.
20 min of waiting for 1 drink, no tissues.
Very cozy place
Sandwich quite nice.
Good air con and good mood
Friendly staff who helped to keep my wallet.
The tables and chairs are a bit crowded. Regular cleaning of the glass in the store will make it more comfortable and brighter.
There is a water dispenser but no cups. The food is all available but you don’t want to eat? ! Is it to wait for the sequence number?
The food and coffee are both hot, so you don't have to be so attentive to help me cool down before eating. We don't have any special request for this.
The problem of picking up food occurs almost every time. Why can't we just call the number when everything is ready? Are you waiting for any extra gifts? Do we have to eat and drink until we cool down?
Now that mobile food ordering is designed, if you can pick up the food, why can't you send notifications instantly instead of waiting for the staff to call out the number with a weak voice?
It feels good to be able to eat a familiar brand in Singapore, and the drinks are perfectly replicated. However, the brick-pressed sandwich I had that day was a bit too dry, and I really wanted to eat the grilled leg steak sandwich that I loved in Taiwan.
The store clerk is Taiwanese. I went back to Taiwan in a second. The store is very big and very comfortable to sit in.
Good place to have a coffee and work. The service is a little slow, but a good option.
