Reviews of Lucky Cat Vegetarian/Vegan Cafe
An understated Japanese vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Hougang CC. I live nearby but only discovered it recently. Loved the tofunagi uramaki. So tasty and generous portion for the price paid. Unlike other vegetarian Japanese restaurants I have patronised, the uramaki holds its shape well while eating. Will patronise this restarant again
Food isn't bad and has the potential to be good! I just felt that the dishes were drenched with sauce and was way too sweet.
I ordered the Tofunagi Maki Roll, Lucky Tendon and Konjac Salmon Sashimi. The Maki Roll was nice on first bite, but there was way too much sauce on top. The Lucky Tendon was enjoyable as well, but the enoki mushroom had a burnt taste (that wasn't just charred, it was burnt). I felt that the reviews exaggerate the similarity the Konjac Salmon Sashimi has to real sashimi- the taste is more similar to a lightweight fishcake (if that makes sense) but for vegan folks i can see how they would enjoy this. I certainly didn't mind it!
Overall, unfortunately I wouldn't come back even though it wasn't a bad meal. People who are vegan can consider though!
The sea salt brownies are absolutely delicious!!! The latte is also good and had oat milk option. The avocado don has a taste of balsamic vinegar? not an absolute favourite but interesting nonetheless.
3rd time here ! Food remains as yummy as usual
Anyone still not here yet, should give Lucky Cat cafe a visit asap, you will not be disappointed ! Food portion is generous and price is very reasonable.
Delicious vegetarian Japanese cuisine with a interesting myriad of drinks, coffee and tea mocktails such as iced yuzu earl grey seen here. I love their mushroom dishes, including those using monkey head mushrooms. Price is reasonable but seating is limited and often fully occupied, testament of their good food and good business.
Unique Japanese Vegeterian experience!
Amazing play with Konjac Jelly & Mushroom to create some amazing dishes.
Flavorful and looks like the real deal.
A little high on the price, perhaps due to production cost.
Place can be better ventilated as well.
A nice japanese themed vegetarian restaurant in the neighbourhood!
The side dishes were interesting and tasty! I lile salmon sashimi tasted exactly like the real ones! Safer than the real ones in this time of Covid danger!
The tofunagi maki is great too! Reminds me of softshell crab sushi we usually ordered. Shitake mushroom with cheese is great too!
However the main dishes didn't quite impress me. Will skip review of them.
Had a lovely weekend lunch here. A small cafe in hougang cc. Be prepared to queue as it has limited seating. Pretty impressed with vegetarian Japanese food.
Great tasting vegetarian Japanese food offered here. Love the tofunagi maki and Don, their curry katsu, shitake cream and cheese mushroom, yangnyeom monkey head mushrooms don etc. Highly recommended!!
The food is super good, their service is absolutely one of the best! It’s a MUST to try it out!
One of the best, if not the best, vegetarian Japanese food in Singapore.
Impressed with the sushi and drinks selection!
Tofunagi maki roll and hojicha latte is my
go to.
Will try the Onigiri on my next visit.
Creative presentation of the dishes and interesting texture of the food. Loved the tofunagi maki, katsu curry udon and shitake mushroom. Will be back again!
Excellent food. Monkey head was not super juicy, but the tofunagi was bomb. Portion was big for the don, really worth it
#LuckyCat Cafe
Food - great taste, wide range
Environment - comfortable, relaxing, clean.
Price - reasonable.
Portion - worth paying the price.
Always appreciating a good vegetarian place! The bibimbap sauce is too sweet for me. Wishing the vegetables were not all deep fried! The gin tonic was abit too syrupy for my liking too. Will come back to try their coffee!
Happend to dropby at Hougang CC earlier
and we decided to have our dinner there.
Lucky Cat cafe serve Japanese vegetarian foods, food portion is huge and the price is well worthy. We quite enjoyed the foods there and definitely will be back to dine in again soon👍🏻
Great food served up quite fast. Only quibble is the lack of seating resulting in super long queues especially on special days. Recommend the makis and cheese shitake.
Very impressive menu for such a tight outfit. They have full meal dishes, light finger food, desserts and drinks both hot and cold. Good value for money and they don't cut corners in terms of quality and taste. Can see that they take pride in their cooking. Impressive presentation too.
Always good food and drinks here. My favorite place to go for lunch. Friendly staff + clean hygienic environment. Only sometimes they are too crowded on weekends. 😅
Chanced upon this place on a rainy day. Cozy place. Great service, accommodating staff, friendly. I even got a box for my bag! This place serves simple Japanese food with a slight ang mo twist.
Located inside Hougang Community center - No. 35 Hougang Ave 3 , #01-02 , S(538840) - Vegan Japanese food! Love the Unagi sushi , grilled monkey mushroom, avacado salad, if dine in must drink the coffee / ice brew.
If you want try new vegan food , try this! (:
An unique cafe serving extraordinary coffee. I was greeted by a team of young and friendly staff. I was there for a coffee but ended up having a brownie as well. Will come back to try their food soon
Tasty vegetarian Japanese food. The sashimi salmon was made from Konjac jelly, texture was chewy not bad! The avovado sushi roll and toufu sushi roll was tasty too. Also ordered the mushroom tempura, dumpling and one of the noodles dish! The seating area are quite limited, may have to avoid peak hours. Will visit again.
Ordered bimbimap, very delicious. Drinks are very special and healthy. Recommend. However, costs me $20 plus sides.
Tofunagidon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ $12
The unagi was tasty, until realising it was tofu. It's Vegan. How dumb. IMHO - Amazing! Great food and will be back for more other items in the menu. The sushi rice was perfect btw. 👍
vegetarian restaurant that serves japanese style food. drink and food are pretty good and not overpriced, spent about 16 buck for 2pax
waitresses are polite and nice
Food is all very nice 🥰😍😋, very recommended but need to come early to avoid long queue 👍👍👍
Excellent food and service! Festive special - Vegetarian Yusheng is available here and it was refreshing and tasty! Try the treasure don too! Will highly recommend!
The food really tastes so good!! Especially when you know it’s all vegan! Highly recommend the signature tofunagi maki! It tastes unexpectedly yummy!! Came back for the third time and won’t be the last! And staff were friendly too!
My favourite vegetarian cafe. Perfect place to get coffee & cookies. Friendly 老板娘 & staff! Special mention: amazing cold somen and sashimi platter :P
A nice cosy place with friendly staff! All the dishes & drinks are pretty good.
Vegan Options Available
Generous servings and delicious dishes
Many seating area
And near to bus stop
My second time visiting. Super yummy Japanese inspired food. Vegan options available as well! 5/5 stars highly recommended!
So happy to have found this vegetarian cafe. Love the food. Being here twice and will definitely continue coming. Always love their monkey head mushroom dishes and sushi. Value for money and delicious 😋
Good place to be when you crave for Japanese vegetarian food..
The food is so nice! Love it! Will visit again! 😘
The unagi roll and avocado roll are a must to try! Is really good.
I found this place by accident and decided that I'd try out the dessert since there was very little storage space left in my stomach🤣
Quite a nice place with a very relaxing atmosphere, I ordered the Earl Grey Jelly with Caramel Cream and long story short, it tasted delicious👍
It's regrettable that I can only squeeze in dessert but I'll be back for the other items on the menu😁
My husband and I went to Lucky Cat for dinner.
Their wakame portion is generous and their Tofunagi Maki is a must have :)) Their wasabi is good too.
Their service is prompt and they served with heart :)
Nice environment but peak hour got limitation in duration there which usually won't overrun if you are not those typical uncle to buy a cup of coffee and sit whole day. Price is reasonable or slightly cheaper than other place. No credit card payment.
Great vegetarian food cafe. The Place is clean and cosy + the serving staff was polite. The food was tasty and the portion was good too. Especially love the lucky Tendon and the noodles. The texture of the noodles was good too. They provide kids utensils and a high chair, and was really clean and well maintained when we visit 👍🏻.
Really nice vegetarian food, the sashimi plater was so good really supprised by how they achieve the texture and taste. Really like the tofunagi maki. I've ordered the Lucky tendon ($11) it is really filling and have alot of variety of fried tempura. Totally recommend, a really outstanding vegetarian restaurant.
Very tasty food and prompt service! Portion size is very generous, best to come hungry. Enjoyed everything we tried, plan to try noodle dishes next time.
Appetisers: tofunagi maki ⭐, shiitake cream and cheese ⭐
Mains: lucky tendon ⭐, yangnyeom monkey head mushroom don, curry katsu don
Drinks: matcha latte ⭐, yuzu rose black tea, just chocolate
Staff is friendly. Provided genuine feedback on the sushi rice being not entirely cooked. Staff immediately looked into it and offered to change a new one. When we said we would keep it so as not to waste food, they came back with a dessert on the house to show their appreciation.
👍🏿
Visited the restaurant on Sat 1pm. There was a long queue and never seemed to end. Drink "Not Beer" is interesting, tasted refreshing and looked like beer with froth on top :) Every dish tasted really good and made from healthy ingredients eg different types of mushrooms, tofu, seaweed. Ordered 2 drinks, one maki and 4 side dishes, bill came to $47+ for 2pax. Highly recommended.
Finally had the chance to dine @ Lucky Cat. Have to say it’s a wonderful experience - the staff were all lovely and food was served promptly. Portion wise it was a good sized meal as well 💛💛💛
Ordered (for 4 pax) Tendon, curry rice, Tofunagi maki, teriyaki monkey head mushroom, curry mayo nuggets and had grapefruit camomile soda (which I loved) and cereal coffee cream.
We were all stuffed and happy by the end of the meal. Only thing we wished we did was to take pictures of the food 🥺 this will be the first of many visits to Lucky Cat!
P.s. We came @ 6.30pm and there was already a queue. please go early to grab seats if you don’t like waiting :>
We love the food.
First time visiting this place and was pleasantly surprised by the food especially their maki and curry rice. The staffs were very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this place if you are looking for good Japanese style vegetarian food.
Came here with friends after seeing some sharing from social media by the vegetarian and Hougang community. Not disappointed at all..
Service staff was warm, friendly and attentive. Food was delicately prepared as such tastes good too. Have not tried the coffee yet, but good tea.
Will come back :)
Really good place for vegetarian. The eel on rice is really good 👍🏻
Impeccable service from attentive staff! Had the tofunagi don which was delicious. Perhaps it would be a stretch to say that it tastes like unagi 😂 - there's quite a difference in texture between eel and tofu - but this don was awesome in its own way. 💛
Every dishes is big portion. Ate too full.
Quite a good place for vegetarian fusion food! Highly recommend the shoyu riceball. Expect to wait for awhile to be seated during dinner time as it is quite popular.
I ordered the curry mayo fried monkeyhead mushroom again today, but I think they have reduced the portion sizes. I think it's not super worth it (although it is quite delicious)
A gem for vegan Japanese fusion food located in a heartland. The tofu unagli don and assorted sushi are a must try.Their coffee concoctions are simply deadbeat.
Warmth... Family Like dinning... Reasonable pricing... Highly rcmd
Opening Hours:

Food here is always very good. Worth every penny.
Japanese style vegetarian resto. The sashimi taste good
A value for money vegan dining place located at the cc
The place is nice and the food is fantastic. Want to go again.
Nice ambience and nice food
Unexpectedly nice..Will visit again
Great food and best service even when busy.
The Korean style was too overly sweet for me
Great vegetarian food
Highly recommended vegetarian restaurant
The service attitude is very good, enthusiastic and lively.
The dishes are constantly changing, and there is a new menu every time you come. There are Japanese sushi, tempura, Korean, Nanyang flavors, etc. We continue to introduce new flavors of vegetarian dishes.
Coffee is a must-order drink, and the drinks and desserts are delicious.
The boss and his wife are very dedicated cooking craftsmen who always stimulate the taste buds of human beings. Every time they come, they always come back satisfied 😌 full and full.
Probably one of the first of its kind of vegetarian cafe that serves mainly Japanese fusion food with specialty coffee in the heartlands + with pocket-friendly pricing.
The Tofunagi Don and Tofunagi Maki roll modeled after unagi roll are amazing! The 'unagi' which is made of tofu and seaweed was grilled to light crisp and coated with teriyaki sauce and mayonnaise, sprinkled with white sesame for the enhanced aroma. Really remind me of the taste of the real unagi.
The side dishes like Fried Gyoza and Korean Yangnyeom Monkey Head Mushroom which are equally yummy! Especially the latter which took after sweet and sour pork, the meaty texture of monkey head mushroom generously coated with sweet dressing pulled it off well.
They also serve a series of coffee mocktail concoctions and I ordered the Espresso Lemon Tonic. It was soooo…. Good! Refreshing and still keeping the kick of coffee. Love it!
This is a rare vegetarian cafe in the neighborhood.
Who would have thought that you could find Japanese vegetarian cuisine in Hougang, paired with a range of specialty coffees. The most important thing is that the price is also quite affordable.
Tofunagi Don and Tofunagi Maki rolls are made to imitate the texture and taste of eel. The "eel tofu" made from tofu and seaweed is grilled to be crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, coated with teriyaki sauce and mayonnaise, and sprinkled with white sesame seeds to increase the fragrance. The taste is amazing!
It really feels like eating real eel.
The kimchi udon noodles are not as spicy as expected and have a moderate taste. Although there are some fried ingredients inside, it is not greasy. The udon noodles also have a good texture and are chewy, but not too tender. Very pleasant fabric texture.
I ordered fried dumplings and Korean Hericium erinaceus, which were equally delicious! The fried dumplings are very crispy and not greasy at all! The latter is the vegetarian version of sweet and sour pork. The meaty texture of Hericium erinaceus and the sweet yet slightly spicy taste make this dish very colorful.
There is also a range of specialty coffee drinks on offer, I ordered a lemon espresso. It’s refreshing yet retains the aroma of coffee, highly recommended!
First of all, the service is very attentive! The vegetarian dishes are great! You can also eat Japanese vegetarian sushi!
Snacks are delicious
A vegetarian food made with care❤️, you can feel it with your heart
