Reviews of Oaks Coffee Co.
What I ordered:
- Truffle Mushroom Pasta, 9/10!! (Every bite was soo yummy! And the mushroom portions were generous, the truffle taste actually compliments the pasta so well!)
- Korean Fried Chicken, 8/10! (I’m someone who needs meat at every meal. So i had this as a side dish and the chicken chunks portions were so huge!! I’m surprised I finished it cause it was soo yummy as well!! The spiciness was just right and they are generous with the sauce)
- Matcha Latte, 7/10! (Not too earthy taste and the sweetness is just right!)
- Blue Pea Butterfly drink, 5/10 (Pretty drink but it just taste like a typical coconut water for me)
Everything is on the pricier side and portions were small too. (Just look at how my Tomyum seafood pasta barely took up half the plate - and it’s not like the plate was big either!)
Although the food was good, I wouldn’t say it was worth the price. I do appreciate the service though! Lovely place for a study session too.
Nestled in the heart of the city, Oats Coffee Co. offers a quaint spot for a satisfying meal. The "Big Breakfast" lives up to its name, offering a hearty start to the day that's both flavorful and filling. The Tom Yam Pasta delivers a delightful kick of flavor, sure to please any pasta aficionado.
One standout dish is the Truffle Rice, a generous serving of aromatic rice infused with the earthy richness of truffles. It's a true delight for the palate. However, the Korean fried chicken falls short of expectations, lacking the desired flavor and texture.
The Ice Mocha and Pineapple Coffees at Oats Coffee Co. offer a refreshing twist to traditional favorites. The Ice Mocha boasts a perfect balance of rich chocolate and chilled espresso, while the Pineapple Coffee brings a tropical flair with its tangy sweetness. Both are decent options for a cool pick-me-up on a warm day.
The ambiance at Oats Coffee Co. is cozy, albeit a bit cramped during the lunch rush. But fear not, as the noise subsides post 2pm, allowing for a more tranquil dining experience. With a few tweaks, Oats Coffee Co. has the potential to be a must-visit spot for any meal of the day.
Very very nice coffee!!!
I had the caphe cot dua, their version of a Vietnamese favourite, coconut coffee.
As some one who frequently visits Vietnam, this thing is legit!
Cant wait to come back to try their other offerings!
The queue management is bad. My friend and I came first but was let in later. They bring in someone that came later than us without asking who came first due to different service staff. The big breakfast($27 before gst) wasn’t that delicious. The harsh brown has an oil taste and the pork sausage got some kind of weird taste. Their drink wasn’t that fantastic as well. I don’t think I will come back again for the food as it is not worth the money.
Modern coffee shop near Upper Thompson MRT station. I tried the white coffee and the tiramisu and both were really good. The coffee is strong and not bitter, with deep flavors.
The biscuit of the tiramisu is a bit dry but the cream is fluffy, flavorful and not too fatty. It is quite well balanced. There is also no alcohol which is a plus for non-alcoholic foodies.
I haven't tried their savory menu but it serves usual breakfast and brunch items. The menu looks quite tasty.
Great place to grab a coffee, take a break or work. NB: no free wifi
Nice little cafe to have lunch. Food is ok. Preferred the carbonara and Korean fried chicken over the other items.
Came to this cafe on a rainy late morning, and ordered a big breakfast( with sausages, eggs, hashbrowns, hokkaido milk toast, baked beans, pomegranate seeds.) and the scrambled egg crossiant( with candied bacon and feta cheese). Drinks wise are Hot Latte, Hot chocolate (Not too sweet) and Espresso. Note to self: the portion size for those two dishes alone is enough for at least 3-4 pax.
Dirty Earl was so good - earl grey flavour was aromatic and robust! Balance between earl grey and espresso was perfect. I loved it so much I wished it came in a larger cup 😫
Good coffee. There was a choice of 2 single origins for espresso-based drinks. Default double shot for espresso-based drinks. Uses Meiji milk. This latest double shot white (Honduras Comsa JH washed) had green apple, milk tea notes, though the flavours could have been more vibrant.
Sake mussels ($16) - The flavour was fine but the texture of the mussels could have been better. The sourdough was ok.
From earlier visits:
Espresso macchiato:
Costa Rica Finca Aquiares Esperanza - notes of currants and dates.
Double shot whites:
Colombia San Vicente - fruity tea notes.
Ethiopia Sidama Bombe G1 - fruity, winey, chocolate notes.
Papua New Guinea Arufa - bright, fruity, whisky notes with a chocolate aftertaste.
Costa Rica Finca Aquiares Esperanza - notes of currants and milk tea.
Really cozy cafe with a nice layout and chill vibes on a lazy sunday afternoon.
Ordered the vongole which was very flavorful with the sauce sticking to the noodles. Sauce was rich and there was ample clams as well as ikura which enhances the dish. Would recommend
However the big breakfast was disappointing considering the high cost at $27… came with eggs, sausages, tatertots, salad and beans. Nothing too special, portion size was not ridiculously huge as well, would not recommend. Perhaps you could try some of the other brunch dishes, they looked nice
Good service and tasty food.
It was very crowded due to the Sunday brunch crowd and the cafe do get very noisy. But the staff were still very polite to all customers.
One of my to-go cafe when in upper Thomson. They open quite early, before 12. The espresso is nice. Bring noise-cancelling earphones if alone cos the noise amplified on the mezzanine level.
The laska orzo really packed a punch for me. Midway through and already finished a bottle of water
Delicious menu items with a wide variety of aromatic coffee choices makes this place a mandatory go-to for any occasion, be it having lunch/dinner or just stopping by for dessert.
Highly recommended!
Love the mushroom pasta and the mala dumplings. Didn't manage to take pictures of them before we devour them. Carbonara was good too. Food quite different from other cafes. High quality and not the usual greasy fried stuff.
Coffee was really good too! Barista even did a cny latte art
Very nicely decorated cafe. Through the hanging mirrors you can see what the barista does!
The food is presented very nicely and I would say tastes as good as they look. While a bit on the pricier side the decent service ambience and food quality makes it worth it.
The drip coffees are nicely done and the oat milk houjicha latte is very nice.
Would come and chill or meet a friend here.
Their big breakfast had a few interesting ingredients compared to the ones you usually eat in other cafes. Their beans are crunchy, mash potatoes filled with truffle, topped with creamy scrambled eggs, sprockets and mushrooms. Their spring roll is really filling and quite savoury. Coffee tastes okay.
Great coffee. As a coffee enthusiast, I feel this place has one of the most well-balanced cups you will get at a cafe. Not too acidic or bitter.
Food wise i had the shakshouka which tasted really authentic, but the cumin was a bit too much. The sourdough was great though.
Highly recommend!
My friends and I had a lovely and delicious dinner at Oaks Coffee Co.!!
We ordered Korean Fried Chicken fostarters and were amazed at how juicy the chickens were! The sauce was also not too spicy but spicy enough to make you wanting for more 🤤
We also ordered two mains - Laksa Orzo and Spanish Pork Jowl. We loved it soo much! The laksa orzo was very flavourful and you can taste how each bits of orzo had absorbed the delicious laksa sauce. We particularly enjoyed eating the spanishpork jowl. It literally melts on your tongue, a gentle push from the knife can cut through the pork. The herbs on the meat was flavourful and the sweet potato mash was such a beautiful touch.
For drinks we had a Lychee and Rose Tea and a Hojicha Latte. The tea had a strong lychee flavour at the start and at the end had a hint of rose. It was refreshing to drink it. As for the Hojicha Latte, it had strong hojicha flavours which we loved!
Lastly, we had the Duo Mochi for desserts and were pleasantly surprised by the taste of the mochis! They were soft, chewy and refreshing. The cookie below added a textural element and had a nice almond flavour.
Overall we loved how aesthetically pleasing the food and cafe looked! We will be coming back soon! 🤤🤤🤤
Wonderful little spot with well designed interior and friendly staff. The yuzu tonic coffee was a surprise but well worth trying. The corn fritters were excellent too. Definitely a brunch spot that should be on people's lists to try.
Dined here for dinner on a weekday. Place was quiet and nice as there wasn’t much people but was not amazed by the food.
Ordinary cafe food. I ordered a carbonara and my friend ordered their laksa risotto. Both of us were jelat by the end of the meal. Truffle fries was alright.
Service was good and prompt.
Came on a Saturday, around 1.30pm and we didn't have to queue. The staff were very hospitable and friendly. Food was a hit and miss.
Truffle Mushroom Pasta ($19)
Presentation of the dish was pleasing to the eyes, however overall quite a forgettable dish. I appreciate that they elevated the dish with the addition of black garlic and polenta chip. However those were merely brief pockets of flavour explosions in the mouth. The sauce was too simple and plain, and the truffle oil was entirely absent.
Big Breakfast ($25)
Scrambled eggs were great. They had Pork Meatloaf (Ngoh Hiang) instead of the usual sausages. Overall not bad, but we would have preferred the usual sausages and sourdough toast (the Hokkaido milk toast tasted plain, nothing to scream about).
Coffee was average, I like that they let you choose the bean (choice between nutty or acidic)
Overall a very aesthetic cafe to visit with welcoming staff. Food is pretty standard, but the menu looks interesting and well thought out. Will come back to try the other dishes.
I had the ginger sake clams.
Frankly I don’t recommend it. Firstly the first bite on something hard like dirt or sand which I wasn’t sure of. Luckily that the only time.
Secondly one of the clams is spoiled that I have to split it out on the napkin.
Seasoning are good and I especially like the black garlic.
Overall it have a very nice ambiance, with good background tunes and vibe. Service staffs are very friendly and helpful.
Was nearby and looking for a place for lunch. Saw that it’s a new cafe that opened not too long ago, so I decided to give it a try. Price is definitely on the pricier side, but the dishes sounded pretty creative and felt like a lot of thought went into it.
I got the Laksa Orzo Pasta and it was really tasty. One thing is that the portion was really small. I would consider myself a small eater and I’ve never felt like the carbs was too little. But the Laksa dish was really little. Finished the pasta(?) looks more like rice in like 10 spoons probably. Took ~6mins to finish it. The portion is really small.
If you are looking for a tasty cafe to try out, Oaks Coffee would be what you are looking for. Would try out all the dishes in their menu, but wouldn’t got back for a second time. Felt like they were also in a rush for time because they would always be on the look out for finished plates/drinks to clear (even when there are empty tables beside). So if you’d like a chill and relaxed environment, Oaks Coffee probably wouldn’t be your first choice. Gave a pretty detailed review haha but yes, this is my honest experience (:
Really nice cafe with a chill environment. Had the Ginger Sake Clams ($22), it’s a bit salty and some of the clams were sandy. Overall would give it a 2.5/5!
Also ordered the Eggs Benedict which is okay as well. Usually getting two pieces of bread when it comes to an eggs Benedict, they only served it with one slice of sourdough bread and it costs $21 though, so not sure is the price justifiable. Overall would give it a 2.5/5 as well.
For drinks, got the Creamy White ($7), which is creamy as said. Enjoyed the drink the most!
Came here for a coffee stop with mum. Ordered a white and an espresso. So I guessed it was an Ethiopian and confirmed it with the barista. Fruity, floral and nice acidity. Just the perk me up I needed. And for the white I opted for a more chocolaty/nutty profile, very smooth and balanced. Latte art was mad impressive; it was a fish 🐠 haha I can’t do that. Maybe it was a Brazil/Colombian? Not sure. Overall, good coffee so i will be back!
Laksa Orzo (pasta) was damn good! Love it. Totally amazed by it! Tom yum seafood pasta was awesome too! Beverages were as awesome too! Ordered white oolong and sour plum and also yuzu zesty blanc which contains alcohol (white wine). Highly recommend! Staff was nice and friendly too! Definitely will go back for more :D
Staff were really friendly, drinks were also good! Loved the design and concept of the store but the food was a tad bit too salty
The burger spring rolls were just burger patty in a crispy batter, has all the flavours of a burger but just a tad bit too salty
Truffle fries were a very generous size and the fries were crispy! Very delicious, the only fault is that everything was really too salty for our liking
The shop is location along Thomson road. Easily accessible via TEL, and alight at Thomson Plaza station.
Came purposely to try their coffee after lunch. Surprisingly, there were no Q today and we managed to get a table indoor.
We order 2 of their specialty coffee, Piccolo which is strong but not acidic come with a nutty flavour and a white with a smooth light texture, milder coffee smell.
We didn’t try their food, but looking at the presentation does make me a little hungry. I will come for the food in my next visit.
really enjoyed the sake ginger clams pasta! generous amount of ikura and the flavour of the pasta was complex and umami! i think the spiced fries can be given a miss, it’s not bad but price is quite steep. i really enjoyed the oat latte too
Had the laksa pasta and it’s awesome! Very well done and highly recommend this! The pork sandwich ordered was more bland in comparison. Personally, would skip the pork sandwich for another plate of laksa pasta.
Coffee was great too!
Overall a pleasant experience. The coffee is very good. Was amazed by the latte art. And the staff told us that the boss is a latte art champion! Food is not cheap but quality is great.
Food was good, liked the deco and style. Coffee's great too make sure you order with oat milk. Seating may be a little limited if you visit during peak hours or meal times
A short walk from Upper Thomson station, this air conditioned cafe does some delicious food and coffees 👌🏻
.
Our orders:
~ Shakshuka
~ Tom Yum Seafood Pasta
~ Iced Hojicha Latte on Oat Milk
~ Fizzy Espresso Yuzu
.
Wifey got the Tom Yum pasta and s A soon as it came out, we could both smell how fragrant it was. It tasted exceptional and had a nice chilli kick to it too 🥵
.
The Shakshuka was yummy too. Chicken pieces, in lieu of chorizo - it was a strong tomato flavour with perfectly poached, super wobbly, amazingly runny eggs 😍
.
Both the Hojicha and the Yuzu Espresso drinks were refreshing and had a pronounced coffee taste to it 👌🏻
.
Well worth the visit, would totally recommend stopping in if you’re in the area 👋🏻✅
We could tell that every dish was carefully composed and well executed. The chilli crab orzo had layers of textures from the orzo pasta, to the poached egg when mixed in and not forgetting the crispy soft shell crab.
Well worth a visit and a return!
Met a friend for after dinner drinks and its a delightful place to chill. Ambience is great with easy listening music.
Had the specialty match tea and was refreshing in Singapore's weather. We had the apple crumble pie and was delish! Ate it before a photo was taken but its an exact replica of Oaks' pic...so check that out.
Staff was friendly and that added to our great ecperience.
Will definitely be back to try their mains!
A refreshingly different and original coffee and drink experience - I had a Café Cot Dua, and my wife had a Yuzu Zesty Blanc. The staff were warm and friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming. Highly recommended.
Second time visit this cafe. Welcoming as usual. The staff are very well-trained; they informed me what items is not available on the menu at first, when I ordered the hot white, they will ask for my preference coffee bean. Moreover, I get touched by the fact that they are proactive in ensuring customers have a comfortable dining experience by promptly closing the restroom door.
Speaking of the food, I’m enjoyed their big breakfast, especially the surprising and tasty addition of meat to the baked beans.
The salad mixed with variety types of vegetable which not commonly found elsewhere.
Great Brunch to start Q4. Love the big breakfast. This place is owned by Singapore’s Latte Art Champion.
Quiet vibe, nice decoration, super friendly and handsome / pretty staffs, food were served quick, slightly small portion but delicious. Thank you for the lovely pattern on hot chocolate too!
Crab risotto very disappointed, risotto overcooked and feel like eating Porridge. Soft shell crab should be crisp rather wet. Duck not bad but presentation could be better. Potatoes saved the day.
Great place to sit & chill. Very hospitable staffs. They gave us an extra pastery as we waited quite some time for our Churros. Churros & coffee were good! :)
Edit: came back again and staff were still very hospitable and attentive. kudos to tall female staff for helping out with our seating request.
Excellent coffee (although it was quite expensive $8.25 after tax) as it appealed to both a coffee nerd and a non-coffee drinker. We had the filter coffee. We also ordered the Orzo laksa and mushroom pasta. Clearly a lot of thought went into creating the Laksa dish and the mushroom pasta was extremely flavourful. Looking forward to return!
Quiet evening on a Sunday. That’s good.
Food was good especially the side vegetables.
Coffee was good too.
Service was also good.
Great selection of coffee and delicious food! I was very impressed with the variety of dishes. I was having my 'me-time' coffee moment so wanting to order more stuff from the menu was out of the question. I will definitely drop by again with my friends. Overall a very nice place to chillax.. and the staff were all super friendly too. Two thumbs up!
Pleasantly surprised by such a smartly and chicly designed cafe with an expansive counter space. Love the ambience. The flat white was super smooth, and it left a fruity aftertaste.
Food was good! Place is nice too. Just found it a bit weird that the waiter served us water after we were done with our food instead of at the start hahaha but other than that it was good :D
No wifi. No power plug for my dying battery. Not my preferred cafe.
Ambience is nice tho.
The food never disappoints. Service is excellent. Highly recommend the Beef cheeks and mala dumplings
Great coffee, friendly staffs and nice ambience to chill.
Enjoyed their white coffee (Brazilian blend- more nutty), genmaicha latte, and dirty earl (very interesting, with cream, earl grey, and shot of espresso)
Delicious and adorable food! Would recommend going for their brunch. Took over the space from Habitat Coffee
Highly recommend this place for Brunch. Great menu and can tell that the chef put in efforts in the menu. Had the shakshouka, it taste awesome from taste to texture and the beautiful cooked onsen egg. Strongly recommended this dishes. Kudos to the team. Coffee was great too, staffs can be more attentive. Will definitely be back to try out other dishes.
Good food and coffee. Particularly enjoyed the Mala pork dumplings, Laksa orzo pasta, and the deconstructed apple crumble. Recommended!
Nice cafe nestled at thomson area serving nice foods. Went there few weeks back. Add their duck leg confit, it was tender and nice. It totally different from other place, love the texture and the sauce that goes so well with it. Their baby corn was also a delicious as for their apple crumble it was delicious, the tartness was well balance with the cookies n ice cream. Recommend this👍
Good food with great ambience. Price is slightly on a higher side but like the vibes in the caffe with relaxing feel.
Visited two times..
Food, coffee and desert..
Everything was perfect for me :)
Very nice place for chit-chat and chilling for hot drinks. If you're here, do try laksa Orzo. The place gives you good vibes.
Food is not bad. Aesthetic is great!
Coffee is 4.1 - 4.4 ⭐️
Good coffee, super nice staff!
I loved the ambience of the place and the service was great! I really enjoyed the eggs benedict and creme brûlée. The mocha was good - strong and dark chocolatey. Apparently 80-90% of their stuff are homemade. So overall a really good experience.
Amazing earl grey espresso! Food was decent but the coffee is definitely the highlight
excellent service (staffs there were super friendly and outgoing)
portion for food were just nice (not too much, not too little) I enjoyed their homemade icecream as well as their tomyam seafood pasta.
will definitely visit there again!!!
Good ambience and nice food.
Drinks were quite quirky
White coffee tastes burnt
No selection of cakes or pastries. Just mains and appetisers and some desserts. Mocha coffee tasted good.
Very good service. Food is well executed too.
Food is ok but the seating quite squeezy
