Reviews of Shiok Hokkien Mee Bedok
Wok hey in the noodles is amazing. Every single bite has it. The wetness allows you to inhale it as it should since its so good. A lot of pork lard for every bite, super crunchy and compliments the flavours of the noodles really well. Chilli has the perfect balance with the calamansi. Too many plus point about the food to write here. Staff are really kind and friendly too and are passionate about the food
They only have 1 item on the menu, which is Hokkien Mee, available in 3 sizes. They also offer options to add on more ingredients.
•
We ordered their Medium size, $8. It comes with the usual prawn, sotong, and pork, as well as a generous serving of pork lard.
•
Their noodles are stir-fried to achieve a char and wok-hei, before being soaked in prawn broth and simmered down to a wet, moist state.
•
The ingredients are then added last to the noodles, gently heated up before serving.
•
I really love the moist texture of the noodles, which looks really appetizing upon collection. For someone who likes to “swallow” food, this dish is perfect—you definitely need tissue!
•
I think the flavor could be enhanced further, as I’ve experienced more intense flavors from other older Hokkien Mee stalls before.
•
Nonetheless, this dish is very legit, and I’m sure the young hawkers will hone their dish over time.
The owners are really hands-on with their business and preparing the noodles that's why you can really see the quality of the food. Was also surprised how big the sizing here like this one is just small size but really looks like Medium size plus generous portion of prawns in every plate even if we ordered small plate only. Love the proximity to all the other stores in Bedok and nearby bedok mrt station. Their store is very clean and tidy and all the owners are young lads and very friendly too! Love the "wok" taste and not saggy noodles! This is the perfect hokkien mee for me by far! Kudos to all the people behind this business! More power to you♥️
Their first branch is at Golden Mile, glad that there's a new branch in Bedok, really a fantastic addition for those living on the East Side. With its convenient location, inviting ambiance, and delicious food, it is sure to become a favorite Hokkien Mee spot for many.
Photo will do the justice. As usual, look at how thick the gravy is😋
If you haven't had the chance to visit yet, make sure to drop by and indulge in their mouthwatering offerings.
This is one of my My top 3 go to Hokkien Mee in Singapore. Very lovely Wok Hei, strong Umami flavours and the ratio of Noodles and Beehoon is perfect. Pork lard upon request is fresh and crispy. Also love the very friendly attitudes from the cook and the staff. Not too wet and not too dry, so this should go well with those who like dry or wet versions. Tastes good even when tarpao home. Superb!!!
This hokkien mee has won my fam's hearts, they love it! It's the dry type, spicy chilli, good amt of ingredients n pork lard.
The stall owners are very courteous and friendly too.
My husband and I are in love with this. He always order with additional egg and prawn through grabfood. The wok hey taste is strong, we love it. Recently we just went to the coffeeshop and I ordered with additional egg and sotong. Waiting time 35min but it’s really worth it! The pork lard, he allows you to add on your own!
Good plate of Fried Hokkien Mee; lots of wok hei, infused with prawn broth, nice texture and flavor....the making of tasty Fried Hokkien Mee. Owner took pride in every plate they served, patiently frying the noodle and thus, long waiting time (during peak hour and weekend/holiday) of almost more than 1 hour. Customer need to moderate their expectation that there is many orders and thus the long waiting time, in queue and grab delivery. The price per plate is $5/$8/$10 and there's options to have additional noodle/pork belly/squid/prawns to be added, just need to pay extra for the ingredients.
Fortunately the coffeeshop is well ventilated with many fans and therefore made waiting a lot more comfortable. Just need to sit back, have a cup of coffee/tea and wait for your plate of hokkien mee.
Ample parking around the vicinity too. Would come back again.
Queue at 1pm to make order, with 4pax ahead of me. The 2 young bosses were busy cooking and packing for the earlier orders. I got my Queue Buzzer at 115pm and the friendly boss told me I have to wait about 45 minutes for my noodles. I got my takeaway at 230pm and finally got home and dig into it at 3pm!
Verdict: Even as a takeaway, this Hokkien prawn mee balances the sweetness of the prawns with a hint of umami and good wok hei, making each bite a delightful experience together with the squid, pork and lard bits. Noodles were well braised in the rich prawn broth and the sambal chilli was awesome. I will go again despite the long wait time :)
We had to wait for about 20-30mins. Worth the wait because eating a very good HKM after eons.. We really enjoyed the plate of goodness. Chilli 🌶 was so spicy and WOW. No regrets and def will be going over again. Thumbs up 👍and this time I'm def gonna increase my portion. Best wishes to the team.
One of the best Hokkien mees around! Perfect wok hei and flavors blend beautifully. Added extra egg for a great price and big portion. Sells out by 7pm, so come early! Quiet kopitiam with other tasty options too.
A wait too long for the HKM. I can’t say it’s the Best HKM out there, however I give credit to the 3 youngsters running the stall.
Their HKM does have a reasonable good taste to it. For $5 or $8 both comes with a very portion of noodles!
Came on a wed night around 7pm.
Had to wait so incredibly long. Initially was told 25 mins then later update awhile later still got 15 mins. Then after those 15 mins still another 5 mins.
So a bit disappointed by the inaccurate wait times.
BUT, the food was really good, wok hei was strong, we only had prawns (informed at time of ordering so its okay) and the pork lad is only on request i think!
We finished the food so fast. Might be biased cause we were so hungry by then. But yes very good, but do be prepared for wait. Would come back again if im in the area and not too hungry.
Just a normal wet version HKM that still needs a lot of improvement especially the chilli can’t compared to other gd HKM out there as such Chuan Fried HKM. But the 2 young gentleman very polite
Rebranded from the famous Youfu Hokkien Mee at Golden Mile, Shiok Hokkien Mee is here to bring quality Hokkien Mee to the East!
Being a huge fan of Hokkien Mee, I must say that Shiok Hokkien Mee ticks all the boxes and goes beyond with amazing service.
Wok Hei? Check.
Flavor? Check.
Generous portions and ingredients? Check.
Potent homemade chili? Check.
Extra surprise? Check. They top the noodles with crispy pork lard.
The young bosses are also really passionate about the business, with contagious smiles and friendliness.
A reminder that you have to go early to avoid disappointment, for they really sell out fast.
Overall, an excellent experience, and we will definitely be back!
Went to try at 3pm mid-week, dine-in. Convenient ample parking behind the coffee shop. They were doing prep time so had to wait for about 30-45mins. Ordered the medium plate $8 plus $2 for all the "liao" . Very prominent wok-hei which is great but imo not essential for HKM, unlike hor fun etc Rich flavour of the stock soaked up by the noodles. This is the dry-ish type of hkm (like Lor29), but not as dry and the beach road hainan hkm. Overall very shiok and satisfying. Kudos to the young wok-master. Highly recommended.
Hidden Gem at HDB coffeeshop. Very thick “Wok Hey” flavour. Using thin meehoon which makes the whole dish even better absorption for savoury. However only 2 prawns and 2 sotong for a basic $5 plate. Need to add on if you would like more prawns. Be prepared to wait for 20mins for peak hour.
Serving for $5 was very genergous. Picture also added $2 of mixed ingredients.
Taste of the wok hey is clear.
The chilli is very nice. This hits right to the mark. Very spicy and fragrant.
I had to eat it 2 days (Friday and Saturday) in a row, coz it's so shiok! The noodle got the Wok Hei, and the chili got some kick to it.. be prepared to wait, especially if it's near lunch hour ( I went at 1130am) and there was no queue, but many empty tables with people, all waiting for the Hokkien noodle..
Reasonably priced ($5, $8 and $10) with appropriate portion. Overall very yummy, and I'll come back again if I'm around the area.
And reminder, don't come too late, I came at 630pm on a Saturday once, and they were already sold out!
Coffeeshop atmosphere, don't ask for much..
I think it's called Shiok Hokkien Mee for a reason. The noodles speaks for itself! The people manning the stalls are also very polite and that helps in the whole experience!
Noodles were cooked very well. Outstanding seafood flavour with a chilli and that seals the deal. Gentleman at the counter was very patient and friendly too.
2nd time buying for 2 consecutive days. Met the nicest guys ever, Kenrick and Mitchell. So far the best hokkien mee I've ever tasted. Will definitely be back!
It was refreshing and reassuring to see young blood at the hawker scene, keeping the hawker tradition alive and that too by providing one of the best tastes when it comes to Hokkien Mee. Flavours were well balanced and there was good consistency in noodles. Waiting time and price were reasonable too.
Would definitely be heading back soon for another round of HKM.
Real tasty hokkien mee, definitely worth the wait 🤩. Props to the friendly young boss as well
One of the best Hokkien Mees I've had in Singapore. Never ate a Hokkien Mee with this amount of "wok hey" taste in my life. The chili was fantastic. Very generous with ingredients (e.g., squid, pork, lard) as well. Jing Heng also gave great service as well!
Will come back again!
Got wok hey but can’t really taste the flavour. Was just salty that’s all. Probably won’t eat again.
This is a must-visit for Hokkien noodle lovers. The noodles are perfectly cooked and infused with a rich, savory broth, topped with fresh prawns. The sambal adds a nice kick, enhancing the overall flavor. The service is friendly, and the portions are generous for a reasonable price. If you're a food lover don't miss this gem!
My no1 and all time favourite HKM in beach road was shiok hokkien mee ! The combination of fresh seafood and pork , paired with wok fried noodle made for a satisfying and definitely worth a repeat visit and definitely worth trying too !
Wokhey fried hokkien mee! Tasteful and definitely will come back again!
dined here for 2 and gotten 4 to go, very fragrant with subtle wok and spicy chilli. super hardworking and friendly young hawkers! support!!
At the point of this posting, rating is 4.9, and rightfully so. Hokkien mee is bomb. With every mouth the wok hey is very apparently, and noodles are nicely textured. Chilli is very shiok and overall very enjoyable Hokkien Mee. Staff are friendly too, waiting time was a little long but worth it. Will recommend!
hokkien mee is a personal favourite dish of mine. been everywhere around singapore from newton to chomp chomp to eng ho, tian tian lai, geylang lor 29, bao er, ABC brickworks, etc. this is hands down top 3 hokkien mee i’ve had in singapore — try it, guarantee you won’t regret
Extremely well-cooked plate of delicious HKM with good quality of ingredients!
Highly recommend 💯
Absolutely love it! I’m not usually a fan of Hokkien mee, but this is indeed SHIOK! Tip is to takeaway and let the noodle soak in the broth for abit. Plus the pork lark + chilli + lime… perfection!
Also, sold out very fast. Go earlier
One of the best HKM I’ve tasted. The wok hei is intentionally done. You can see how the team pre-fries the noodles to perfection before the cooking process with the ingredients and gravy. Kudos to the team of young men! Service was polite and nice too
Great portion and the smokiest Hokkien mee I’ve ever eaten. Chilli is more like belachan. Personally prefer the sweet sambal kind but it was good too :) May have to wait a while as there may be a queue.
First time here and was WOW-ed by their wok hei! Noodles was flavourful, soaked with the amazing broth. Well portioned unlike other stalls out there. Will definitely return back for more 🤤
Definitely a good quality plate of hokkien mee! Fragrant & savoury broth a little wet ver with thin bee hoon n yellow noodles , can also taste the wok hey too! i will definitely come back again. Both bosses was friendly and polite! Highly recommended
Had ordered $8.00 Shiok hokkien mee for dinner.
Loved it got wok hei aplenty.
Seafood sotong & prawns all delightfully freshly served.
Sambal quite spicy but shiok.
Another remarkable thing is extreme politeness shown by the 2 young bosses while attending to customers.
Definitely can go have a try.
For me, it is one of the best HM in the east. But be prepared to wait for around 45 mins during peak hours.
Just one feedback to the Seller, hope you can learn and come up with a way or solution to serve faster to cut down waiting time during peak hours.
Keep up the great work 👍🏻. Thank you.
They gave plenty of pork lard. Shiok & crispy. But I'm not a fan of alot of yellow noodle. Felt like the plate of Hokkien mee overwhelm with yellow noodles. Sotong also very tough and chewy. Not much ingredients too. 5$ one comes with 2 prawn. Not much sotong & pork.
Super yummy n the “wok hei” is max😋😋😋. Even my Italian boyfriend loves it so much! the portion is good 👍🏻 if you love Prawn Noodles you must come, even if you dont, you must still come n try!
It’s literally as the shop named. SHIOK! The Hokkien mee is really damn SHIOK la! The taste Perfect and the ingredients they give is super damn a lot! Definitely worth the wait and will travel far just for this SHIOK hokkien mee!!!!
Tasty Hokkien Mee at a great price! Generous portions with well-balanced flavors and a nice sambal kick. Perfect for a satisfying, budget-friendly meal.
Really delicious hokkien mee. Wish there were slightly more toppings but I’m probably just greedy. Very flavourful and wet
Nothing much to say that other reviews have not covered, tldr it's a banger. Would recommend getting a bit more chilli if you can take the spice as well, it really adds to the flavor.
Wok hei is good and very flavourful with the extra pork lard 😍 chilli is also very potent, too potent for me, but good in small amounts 🌶 recommended!!
The noodles are cooked just right, retaining firmness in the center, while the sauce coats them evenly, infusing every bite with its deep, satisfying flavour. Keeps us coming back for more!
Staff friendly and quality of food taste is delicious. 2nd time back for lunch
Nice HKM full of wok hei & unami taste… $5 serving is so generous… the 2young chaps are friendly… definitely my top 3 HKM choice
the wok hey is fantastic. the chilli pairs super well with it too. best hokkien mee I've had
Good Hokkien mee to have especially if you’re around the area, has the wok hey + sauce which you want from Hokkien mee
The chilli is nice. Overall is just 6.5 over 10. The noodle is rough and abit bitter.
Excellent tasty mad wok hei Hokkien mee, great value
Friendly staff. Most importantly the food is nice with lot of wok hei - rare find in the East. MUST TRY!
The best Hokkien mee I had so far, the portion is big, taste is good n best wok hey 👍🏻
I came from Italy and I went to Shiok Hokkien Mee. I really liked the noodles and the owners are very nice. Go and visit them!!!
Nice nostalgic taste of HKM. Can support! Love that they are generous with the garlic! Thanks!
Bought for takeout and food is still good and hot… Kendrick also was very friendly
Tabao also shiok 👍
Flavourful wokhey hokkien mee.. worth the price. 👍👍👍
My current number 1 fried hokkien mee. Friendly staff too.
Very tasty with a tinge of wok hey flavour
First time I was there yesterday, i was thinking it's really weird, why am I still thinking about it after I went home?
Good wok hey and nice chilli!
Great food and service! Recommended!
Definitely one of the top HKM in the east . 👍👍👍👍👍
Great food. Loved it
Amazing food. Highly recommended
Awesome and nice mee
One of the better ones.
First time I went , they ran out of pork belly and lard so not fair to judge although it is saltish
Today I went and bought 5 packets for my family , it is still very saltish as the first time ! Dare not add the lime in and did not finish our HKM😳
If minus the saltiness , it is actually a nice HKM
Noise
Hokkien mee is good!!
