Reviews of SGVenusFlytrap's Community Garden - Darren Ng
My sons and I had a great session at the workshop. Leon, the instructor, is knowledgeable and patient with my young boys. Looking forward to seeing the plants grow.
Darren, Leon and Team were experts in this field! They made the workshop very interesting for both adults and kids. Alot of hands on experience. Recommended for parents who want their kids to have another kid of experience!
Very informative and interesting workshop! Great for kids - even little ones as young as 4yo. Highly recommend
Success rate is super high esp for people who don't have green thumbs like me. It's also super practical to have them around to clean out all the ants in my home.
Ant population was reduced because of them.
Great workshop and engaging for the whole family. Good for children to develop their interest and confidence.
Fun and enjoyable workshop! Darren an team did a great job introducing us the various carnivorous plants!
Enjoyed the educational farm tour! We got the Elite for as a birthday present.
Thank you guys for a very informative and rewarding two hours. It's testament to the hardwork that's been put in by your team over the years to provide the best experiences to kids and their families!
Very fun, enjoyable, informative and most importantly educational. Our journey to grow carnivores plant starts now
Enjoyed the workshop. Leon and the staff were very patient with my active kids.
We attended the open house and met Zaron & Leon. It is our first time getting to see and learn in person the various species of the carnivorous plants. We did not have intention to try our hands on the plants but we walked out with a tank setup done up by Zaron. Both Zaron and Leon are very helpful, they are very patient too and they are passionate in what they are doing, willing to share knowledge and provide guidance, great asset to SGVenusFlytrap, in educating and growing the community.
Very passionate team and trainers for their workshops, and very informational session for both parents and kids!
Darren is a very experienced carnivorous plants entrepreneur that is passionate in educating about unique plant. He and hi team makes lesson interesting and interactive. We got a tour at the outdoor plants and the children love them. We are awe at the vast collection and learn alot too.
Enriching experiences, with adequate information on these types of plants, as well as the technology behind the set up. I also like the fact that, some educational values are imparted, such as responsibility and perseverance in one’s endeavour.
Have a wonderful tour experience about the 3 types of carnivorous plants, the tour guide is so experience and entertaining... My kid has a wonderful time and learnt abouy the vaious fly trap. we also made a terrarium and it is a good learning experience for the kid too.
My family signed up for their June holidays Educational Garden Tour. Was in a group of about 20 pax. Started with about half hour intro presentation by their founder in a small aircon room, moved out to their rooftop garden for another half hour, then back into the room.
Pros:
- Founder is very knowledgeable about carnivorous plants.
- Although their roof gardens isn’t large, but contains a wide variety of carnivorous plants, neatly arranged.
- Their other staff onsite were friendly and very willing to answer our questions.
- One of a kind farm tour
Considerations:
- Tour description on website is inaccurate. Duration stated is “2h”, but as we were a mixed group consisting other families who paid for the terrarium, the focus after the first hour was on building their terrariums. Their Garden Tour pricing did not include any plants. My family did not pay for and had no intention to bring home a terrarium due to space constraints and the cost.
- Promoting their $250 Tropi-trap evo indoor terrarium during the tour.
- Could have included more charts/diagrams/overview of the carnivorous plants to share facts and give newbies a clearer background. E.g. a chart of the major families of carnivorous plants and their subgroups or how they capture/digest insects. The staff did explain and answer our questions, but if there were visual materials to supplement then would be easier to grasp especially for kids.
- The outdoor roof garden sharing was split into 2 groups, both presenters were talking in close proximity and at the same time, was distracting and hard to focus on my group’s.
Original price for the garden tour is $65 per kid, 1 adult can follow for free. We paid promo rate of $45 per kid.
Our thoughts: probably better for those who don’t mind paying for their $250 Tropi-trap terrarium package, not that worthwhile for those who only intend to learn and not to buy their terrarium.
Had a very interactive tour! They explain about the plants very well and even let you feel the plants. It is a really good learning experience, highly recommend this place for kids and adults who are interested in plants!.
Great leaning experience
Fun and engaging workshop. There are many types of carnivorous plants that most of us haven't heard of before... Biotechnology is used to make cold loving plants into surving the hot climate in Singapore. You can purchase a light for some money(expensive). It has a 95% success rate.
Very educational, great for children & adults. Our session ended with us building our own tarrarium set, for us to bring back and try at growing the plant.
Found out about this place in Mar21.. my husband and I love Carnivores Plant. Darren and his brother Damien help us to set up our terrarium systems. They are very passionate and readily to answer any queries you have on the plants. Those who love CP must visit here soon!
Had the most amazing time learning about different types of carnivores plants. The team of young professionals, Darren and Ritz where very patient and informative. Thanks for everything!

Highly recommend for kids to explore it 👍
Very good knowledge and interesting workshop for kid (&adult).
Value for money and experience!
Interesting visit. Started by 2 brothers, one of which cultivate carnivorous plants. The other has great interest in air plants. You could end up with a terrarium of carnivorous or a hanging plant without soil.
Made a terrarium. Very fun. The staff were very friendly and supportive.
Fantastic experience with the kids!
Very knowledgeable team. My kids enjoyed it very much
Fun and interesting set up, with beautiful plants! Well worth a visit!
