Reviews of TECHNIQ TRAINING
I’ve been at techniq for almost 2 years now and honestly one of the best decisions I made back then!
I used to do random HIIT classes, yoga and spin to get a workout done! However, ever since I joined techniq I became more intentional about my training and also learnt to appreciate working out as a lifestyle not a chore! As someone very new to weight training, I previously struggled to do a single squat/deadlift. After joining techniq, I managed to do these movements successfully and confidently even though it did require many classes for me to master it.
The coaches at techniq especially Kenneth and Josh are really really helpful and always made me feel really welcomed in every session! I had a lot of fun training at techniq several times a week and the great community at techniq encouraged me to always attend these sessions. Will definitely miss techniq and once my schedule gets better, I will definitely consider going back.
If you are someone looking to start strength training and regular gyms intimidate you, I definitely recommend trying techniq & I’m sure you will love it too!
I joined Techniq Training 2 months ago and I really enjoy my time training over there.
As a beginner, I personally think this is a good place to start. The coaches there are very knowledgeable, patient, sincere and friendly. The training system is well designed. The gym is also clean and well maintained. Easily accessible by private or public transport.
If you are looking for a personalized training experience and coaches that will genuinely care and follow-up on your goals and progression, Techniq is the gym for you.
In only one month at Techniq, I was able to increase my strength, endurance, and confidence in lifting heavier. They are incredibly knowledgeable and adapt the workout to your individual needs – giving you a personal training experience in a group environment. Should you also have any queries regarding nutrition, they are more than happy to also give advice.
Highly recommended for both new and experienced lifters.
I have been a runner for years now. I have never been a gym person, primarily because I am extremely intimidated by the machines and people in it. However my experience at Techniq Training has been very welcoming, comfortable and motivating.
James focuses and guides everyone including newbies like me on the correct techniques and methods which is not only useful during the class but also in your daily life too!
The community and fellow trainees is just Amazinggggg; full of positive vibes and encouragement
Am definitely having a much better posture, better confidence with the intimidating equipment, armed with basic knowledge of improving on my flexibility esp squats haha.
I've been doing strength training since 2015 at various gyms and found myself in a plateau state. But ever since I joined Techniq in Jan 2022, I could see myself progressing week by week, getting fitter and stronger within a short time. I never knew that I could go beyond my boundaries.
All thanks to the well-crafted workout programmes that allows us to train with purpose effectively, along with the supportive community and great coaches who are there to guide and educate me not on the technical aspects of training but also nutrition and recovery.
I would definitely recommend Techniq to anyone out there who wants to have a sustainable fitness journey with a fun community! :)
Great gym and great coaches. I accidentally met James when he was leading an outdoor training session around Fort Canning and got his contact info to sign up. I've been a member for 3 weeks now and I really appreciate the way the program is structured, the location of the gym and the coaches' attentiveness. James has particularly been very helpful by keeping me accountable and coaching me not just on physical training but also on the habit building side of things (I hadn't been physically active for a few years so the hardest part of working out for me is showing up, something that's easier now thanks to Techniq).

This is what I look out for in a gym! The facilities, quality of coaching and programming, community, and even class timings are excellent. I'm generally an active person but have stayed away from the gym floor as it always seemed so intimidating... The welcoming environment and encouraging coaches at TECHINQ have made it easy and enjoyable to learn to train safely and effectively.
There's a big focus on technique and progression here which makes it stand out from other gyms. That's super important to avoid injury and to see real results.
I have trained with Techniq for 10 months - I have always exercised but this is the first time that I have consistently ‘trained’ and made progress. It’s simply become a non negotiable part of my day.
What makes it different?
The coaches are outstanding- they know your name, aims and moods :) they genuinely have expertise to make micro adjustments that change the whole way an exercise feels. They take more time and consideration in variations than all my previous personal trainers.
The community is great - very varied, but supportive and fun. Everyone is encouraged regardless of whether they are newbies or super strong. It’s genuinely inclusive for all.
The structured programming means you make progress - each week builds on the previous so often by the end of a cycle I can complete exercises that weren’t possible at the start. The cardio workouts are fun and challenging- I was initially concerned that I’d have to continue extra running but the HIIT workouts have improved my fitness more than years of plodding along!
Unlike previous gyms or trainers we don’t repeat exercises or do ‘typical’ exercises that I feel I could do myself, so it’s always interesting to see what’s coming up!
Finally, I’d say that if you can commit to train at least 4 days a week (and you will because it’s addictive) then it’s great value for money, better quality than PT, more fun and far more affordable:) :)

Being a beginner, strength training can be challenging and intimidating. However, Mark did his magic with easy to understand instructions, and ensure that I had the right technique before focusing on increasing weights.
Despite being a group class, the coaches take the effort to check with me on how I was doing after the previous class (each time I visit the place). Other than physically, James also follow-up through text and see if I needed any help to reach my goal.
My experience with Techniq has been amazing. Not to worry if you are going alone, your fellow peers will cheer you on, and soon be your friend. :)
I’ve been with this gym since May 2021 and it’s one of my most satisfying decisions which I’ve had made. I used to do my own workouts aimlessly or occasionally followed some videos. I wasn’t getting anywhere. After joining Techniq, I realised there were many workouts, techniques and health tips that I didn’t know about. I feel different and there are clear goals to go after and how to get stronger, healthier and trained intentionally. The trainers are very dedicated and take training seriously (not Boot Camp style but more light hearted). Techniq has the best people (trainers and fellow gym goers) and it’s a warm community there too.
A clean space with great people! Coaches Mark and James are highly knowledgeable, passionate, and friendly coaches, dedicated to helping you get stronger in the safest way possible. The classes are small and very focused on building proper form and technique, so i've never felt unsafe or out of place.
Would definitely recommend this gym to anyone and everyone!
Great small group strength training and conditioning classes! Coaches Mark and James are knowledgeable, patient and motivating as they take you through the workouts. They focus on your form and help you make adjustments along the way based on your own limitations/constraints so as not to exacerbate existing injuries. Workouts are now something I look forward to!
James and his team of excellent and attentive coaches (shoutout to Khai and Johannes) were kind enough to let me and my wife join them for the duration of our 3 weeks holiday in Singapore to continue our training and work off those delicious Singaporean delicacies!
Notwithstanding the fact that everyone knew we were only temporary ‘trainees’, we felt the power of the community that TECHNIQ is trying to build. We could feel the atmosphere of support and encouragement, no one is there to be macho or show off (this was my wife’s biggest fear as a first time gym goer) and we were welcomed with open arms. It was only 3 weeks but it felt like home when we left! The love here is real!
I ended up going every single day because there is so much to learn from the coaches and the program is solid, well designed to focus on different parts of your body to allow for sustainable daily training. It is also short and sweet (55 mins in and out!). They emphasized on the right techniques and to ensure that it is just right (not too hard and not too slack!). I trust them implicitly to load me up or pull me back as they were able to explain the rationale behind their thought process. I particularly love the fact that you can still harness the energy from other participants but get the PT feel because of the small ratio of coaches to coachees. I was definitely stronger after my 3 weeks with TECHNIQ, results are fast and tangible - if you put in the time!
James and team - Thanks again for letting us crash your party… we miss TECHNIQ and will be back when we visit!
James, Mark, Clarissa and Kai keep me motivated and excited to come to the gym. It is something I’ve not experienced at others gyms or classes. The personal attention I get has seen my ‘Techniq’ improve and I feel more confident in what I’m doing and I feel stronger and look better every week!
I used to love strength training back in 2015 but a serious back injury (lack of good coaching), I took a step back and tried on other exercise regime for my fitness lifestyle.
And then after all these years, I finally found techniq through an Instagram post (good investment 😉) and I nvr look back (sign up almost immediately during my 3rd day of trial)
The trainers are filled with so many information and techniques for us to adapt to not just fitness but also our daily lives!

In just a few weeks, TechnIQ has helped me get into strength training with proper technique, coaching and advice. James, Mark and the rest of the TechnIQ team are passionate about what they do and committed to making each one of us achieve our best results. The facilities are excellent and well thought out. TechnIQ offers a program that can adapt to a busy schedule, with classes in the morning, afternoon and evening and all classes can be booked on the mobile app. Overall, TechnIQ has been a welcome addition and I highly recommend training with James and Mark to take your fitness to the next level.
I've stopped stepping into a gym for 10 years and was very jittery on starting to train again. However, James and Mark's professional attention on individual goals, the supportive community at Techniq and fun training routines are all making me enjoy the work outs very much!

Couches are super friendly, very helpful in answering questions and they carefully correcting your technique

I think coming into the program, it was a bit daunting at least for me. I was surrounded by folks who were more experienced than me, but it was a welcoming environment of folks who demanded more of themselves - and in doing so, I become more ingrained with that mindset of wanting more.
Overall, whilst I'm still a bit away from the goals I've set myself, I like the structure of the workouts and the trainers jest - don't be fooled by their looks, they're hugely knowledgeable about what it takes to achieve your goals.
Thanks to James for his guidance. The bracing part of the techni really helps so that I’m not deflated in carrying the weights.
Facilities in gym are so new and well maintained as well. Feels really good and want to keep coming back for the workout. No longer dread another workout.
I don't have the motivation to workout on my own nor do I want to pay a PT for 4 sessions a week. James and the team at Techniq have a system that blends exactly what I need: personal attention to my progress and training, a small group environment and a price point that quite frankly should be much higher
Great space with trainer Mark and James really invested in helping you train with purpose and the right technique. If you want the personal trainer oversight combined with well planned class structured sessions, this is the place to be.
Such knowledgeable coaches. They’ve really helped a lot with my form when it comes to training even the slightest error they’ll be able to spot it and correct it. Atmosphere is great too, don’t really feel intimidated when I’m training as members are very friendly. Would highly recommend it!
