Reviews of The Forge - Olympic Weightlifting and Barbell Club
Great one on one strength training. Of you are serious regarding your training, should pay this place a visit.
My stats improved a lot after 3 years of intermittent training (yes this includes restriction during covid time)
Squat: zero to 90 kg
Deadlift: 80 to 180 kg
Bench press: 40 to 70 kg
These are still novice numbers, but I mentioned them just to show what an average person could get from a systematic training from a right place
Training is no nonsense, and it takes time to get results, and you get full attention from the coach
The Forge has been amazing for my recovery. Despite undergoing ACL surgery more than six months ago, I was still very asymmetrical in strength and function. I trained here for just a few weeks and have seen great improvement in strength, confidence and also proprioception, thanks to the incredible support and guidance from Gabriel. The regular community is also very friendly. Loved working out here and will be back when I can!
If you want a challenge that will make you stronger physically and mentally, come train weightlifting here. Staff/ownership is knowledgeable and motivating and will help you to learn to lift from the ground up. Fixed previous form issues and helped to start seeing PRs, even starting this sport a little later in life than many. The challenge is more often a mental one and Coach Gabriel helps to get you through those road blocks just as much as through any form issues. The environment is supportive, friendly and community driven. It isn't a typical gym but that's the great part. Value is very good, essentially you are getting 6 hours of personal coaching a week for this price. Any self-proclaimed 'personal trainer's will charge you 6x the weekly price for an exercise program but not a dedicated training that will give you goals to crush!
I’ve trained here for nearly 2 years. The coach is knowledgable and patience. I had seen improvement on my physique and my mental strength when dealing with hardship. Recommended if you want to learn about strength and conditioning as well as Olympic weight lifting which they are specialised in.
Been with them for 3 months, and the coaches are very knowledgeable. Workouts are crafted personally for me, and their timings are flexible.
Excellent place to learn Olympic Lifting, or just general Strength and Conditioning. Pricey, but definitely worth it. Friendly coach and workout buddies, a place to get to know more exciting people.
Highly recommended for anyone interested in Olympic Weightlifting or to get better and stronger in your own fitness.
Excellent coaches who know what they are doing.
Friendly environment. Centrally Located. Reasonably priced.
I’m training at Forge for coming to a year now and I have to say I enjoyed every of my training session and definitely stronger then before.
Gym coaches are well educated on training methods and always are there to help when you need it. Good place to go if you want to learn oly lifting. Although owner seems a bit cold and only talks to his students and close gym circle...
Excellent Gym on a high scale and intensity rarely seen. The trainers are detailed and attentive and teach as they train along with the student. The learner learns by practice and close self observation into perfect form mastery. Two thumbs Up!
I’ve been training at The Forge for the past for months under Coach Felicia, and have had an amazing experience. The individualised programming and coaching, and the cosy environment at such economical prices are simply unrivalled. I’ve definitely seen progress, and really enjoyed myself!
The personalised coaching programme has helped me to get strength & worked on my techniques. Thanks to Coach Felicia. Come visit this gym to get good workouts & see the improvement in yourself!
Incredible value for money. Basically 6 hours a week of personal training for $260 a month.
Good equipment, awesome community, very dedicated trainers. Best.Gym.Ever
Good environment for those looking to improve their weightlifting
Gab is the real deal.
If you are in Singapore and have even the slightest interest in weightlifting, I highly recommend that you first take a trial lesson at THE FORGE.
Drop the barbell.
You can learn weightlifting diligently.
Don't expect anything like a clean shower room, full range of amenities, or 24-hour access.
This is a weightlifting dojo, a place where you can interact with the barbell without any hesitation.
In the future, most people will live to be 100 years old.
I started running at the age of 30, thinking that I wanted to walk until I died.
I ran really well in my 30s.
The monthly mileage in December 2014 was 430km. . . . .
At 5am on a December morning in Shanghai, I was happily running 20km while wearing a mask amidst the burning smell of air pollution with an AQI of over 300.
As I watched everyone shining brightly as they achieved the sub-three mark one after another, I was convinced that I too would become a sub-three someday.
The wall that stands between sub-three and non-sub-three. . . .
What is it?
It seems that there are many things like being hard to hurt your body, recovering quickly even if you are injured, and not giving up even if you get injured.
Before I turned 40, I injured the meniscus in both knees, hamstrings, soles of my feet, and so on.
After returning to Japan, in order to continue running, I started strength training with a NSCA certified coach and discovered weightlifting.
Through my weightlifting connections, I also started CrossFit.
But whether it's strength training or CrossFit, weightlifting is just one part of your training.
I wanted to learn weightlifting, but there were no gyms near my home or work where I could learn weightlifting.
I came to Singapore in July 2020, during the chaos of Covid-19, and spent the two weeks during SHN looking for a gym.
A gym where you can learn weightlifting.
Then I met THE FORGE.
A strict yet kind coach, friendly colleagues, and time to just interact with the barbell. . .
In order to continue your hobby in Singapore, there are many factors involved such as ease of commuting, distance, transportation access, available time for classes, family, work, etc., so it is difficult to know if all of them will match you.
However, if you are in Singapore and are interested in weightlifting, I recommend that you first take a trial lesson and ask for advice, or if you prefer, try going for a month.
