Reviews of KK Women's and Children's Hospital
I highly recommend KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) for its exceptional medical services. Conveniently located near Little India MRT station, take Exit F and walk approximately 150 meters
Brought our son for an eye checkup. It was a very good experience. Everything went seamlessly. Quick registration process via self-help kiosk. The staff/nurses are patient & friendly. The environment is cozy with plenty of seating space. The optometrist who attended to our son was compassionate & competent. The doctor was OK. Just an observation, this field is really due to be massively disrupted by AI to help the doctors with diagnosis, knowledge base & paperwork. Hopefully, these smart people can then focus more on empathy & compassion :)
Generally a good experience with both the emergency room services and the warding. Just subtracted one star because there seems to be a capacity issue--solo rooms are very hard to come by. But most staff, nurses and doctors are very attentive and patient with my child! :)
Dr.Rachel is a miracle healer! (In my eyes). My son elbow was dislocated when I pulled a little bit too hard on his arm, and we rushed him to Children's A&E after gotten a referral letter from a clinic. She adjusted his elbow while still speaking to me and his teacher, and his arm is able to raised (before that he couldn't!) and was able to reach something high after that. It took less than a few seconds! I'll highly recommend to see her! Thank you Dr.Rachel for your help!
More than grateful for all the doctors, nurses with the assist on our first born.
My wife and I are happy to choose KKH for our child.
Highly recommended
Thank you all again
Gave birth in 2024 and the delivery (c sect). My gynae Dr Muhammad Fairuz has made the journey for us very pleasant, he is very detailed and calm when explaining to us about the pregnancy. He did a wonderful job for my csect surgery. From registration - assesment - preparation - surgery - recovery have been very efficient and very stress free for me. I dint had any anxiety throughout the delivery process.
I would like to thank Dr Muhammad Fairuz, all nurses from ward A who is very efficient and friendly that has made my journey in KKH wonderful and pleasant.
We have been regularly going to KKH Hospital for my wife's treatment. The hospital is well organized and the staff are very helpful. There's a mini mall inside the hospital with several food options to choose from, there's Kopitiam, Delifrance, and our favorite Ma Mum. There's also a small Fairprice where you can buy some groceries if needed. These are all conveniently located on the first floor. If you're commuting, you can just take the MRT and alight at Little India station, then walk to the hospital which is just nearby.
As a foreigner, who specifically come to sgp for health services, I normally go to private hospital like MT. E & Gleneagles. But for children people have said KK is the best. And this is my 1st experience in KK.
My daughter did brain angiogram recently. For 2 days stay in 1 bedded room, it cost SGD 6k++.
Overall the doctors do their job very well & professionally. For other services such as insurance claim, Imaging departments, billings etc are definitely unsatisfactory and slow.
When I arrived at the admission I've requested for 1 single bedded but then it was full. I was told during school holidays (june) the hospitals are very busy. I was assigned to 6 bedded room. OMG. For foreigner who don't get any subsidise from government, the difference of estimated overall cost for staying in 1 bedded & 4 bedded is only SGD 100 (for instance they quoted SGD 6600 vs SGD 6500). My insurance cover for 1 beeded and should I pay by myself, I would still choose 1 bedded cause it doesn't make much different since you already spent that much. Luckily at the end I managed to get 1 bedded room.
For insurance claim form completion it can take up to 4-6 wks (SGD 180/report) & and their payment options mostly chater for locals. When you are overseas and they expect you to pay using axs/dbsibanking just doesn't make sense. In private, doctors will fill in the form for you for Free on same/next day.
For billings, you only get interim bill when you get discharged. You won't get the final bills until the next few days and they will mailed it to the registered address. Remember, for insurance claim we need the original bill. And this just doesn't help and make the process longer.
In the Imaging departments, I tried to collect my results and get the queue no. But when I entered the patient id, it didn't work and there was message I should get assistance. But everyone there were so busy. There's no information/assistance desk. It's just confusing.
Doctors are also not in the clinic everyday. Getting appointments confirmed could take up to days.
I'm definitely happy with the doctors but not with other services.
The hospital is a government hospital and has great amenities as well as service. The doctors take great care of patients and are very funny. The cleanliness is great.
I wish to dedicate this thank you to the KKH appt hotline dept , especially to the 2 ladies whom went the extra mile to try to help me change and secure a nearer ultrasound sound appt . I forgot to get their names but the call was made on 16 Oct and concluded as of 10.22am. KKH is the only govt hospital that has to tend to all woman and children’s medical needs. Pls give the staff and system patience!
Visited eye center specialist for my 1 year old. Suggest:
1. Revisit eye center procedure to check through everything like a body checkup . I guess need to be considerate with child's condition on the day. My child keep crying after getting strapped and they keep checking on things that I didn't asked for.
2. Emergency pharmacy is totally not fit to for emergency. Super long queue. Took more an hour to just get a cream for eye. May have to consider adding more staff or review the process
Brought my girl to Children's Monday night for wheezing. Seen promptly by Dr Benjamin and now she is completely recovered. Efficient and cost effective 👍
Great service by the staff, room cleaned very well. The toilet I'm surprised at how colorful the decor is. Nurses provided me blanket n pillow to sleep on sofa (i accompany the patient). I liked the art painting they put near the entrance lol.
Has a locker provided to keep safe ur belongings.
Best part is the breakfast they give. Not sure if only me, but i always like hospital food. Very nutritional, and meji yogurt n juice has lesser sugar compared to supermarket versions.
I wish i can have this variety of foods for my breakfast everyday 😂. But i lazy prep.
Mom had 1 overnight stay aft surgery, good experience. Thank you to all the nurses.
Dear KKH,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding service provided by your sonographer, Cellinjit Kaur.
During my recent appointment,Ms Cellinjit, demonstrated remarkable professionalism, skill, and compassion, making the experience not only comfortable but also reassuring. Her expertise in sonography and her ability to explain the procedures clearly significantly eased my concerns.
I believe that such dedication and commitment to patient care deserve recognition. Please convey my compliments to Cellinjit for her exceptional work.
Thank you for maintaining such high standards in your practice.
Best regards
Mira
I was given an appointment 2 weeks later. But when Shanti from the appointment dept listened to my case, she believes that my case is rather urgent, so she volunteered to monitor my case and found a much earlier appointment for me which is just few days away. I appreciate her attentiveness and initiative and want to thank her for worrying for a stranger.
Great, expedient service at the colposcopy clinic. After calling the colposcopy suite number a few times, I was able to get a hold of someone and was told to email my referral letter. Then I was told it may take up to a week for the clinic to get back to me, but I surprisingly was notified the next day of an appointment for the following day. Arrived about 40 min early, checked in, and was able to see my doctor about 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Great experience overall, exceeded my expectations
My adult daughter is a TBI patient with a minimal conscious level. Took her to KKH for her ovarian cysts. We’re always met with pleasant doctors & nurses who treated my daughter with care & patience. Especially so yesterday. I would like to thank Dr Amanda for her clear explanation to all my questions, nurse Eileen for attending to our needs; she did try to prioritise my daughter but we had to wait for the scan results first. She personally got us drinking water as the dispenser was at another unit. & nurse Wang Yen who extracted urine sample very professional. She even talked to my daughter like any other patients. Which is great because my daughter is aware of her surroundings but just could not respond due to her severe brain injuries. Thank you KKH for such a pleasant experience.
I just wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and nurses who took such great care of my daughter. Your dedication and expertise made all the difference, and we are so grateful for everything you did for Leona.💗💗💗
@#KKHospital #singapore
Had to wait for 4+ hours to get to a doctor for consultation. Very poor management of time at emergency .My daughter had recurring fever, cough and stomach pain hence we decided to consult in KK. We waited 4 hrs and then get to a doctor after escalating about waiting. At last they moved us to a general practitioner. Purpose of KK wasted completely. We could have consulted the same in GP. Good part they tested on various parameters.
Wifey just checked into the delivery suite for an induced delivery. We're currently awaiting the arrival of my 2nd son. Here's pics of the delivery suite.
This review is overdue. This October I was transferred from Changi General Hospital to KK Hospital for an emergency referral, because according to the doc who saw me at CGH, I was internally bleeding due to a BIG ruptured ovarian cyst (which he announced loudly to me in a waiting room full of patients). After being rushed to KKH, I was seen by a consultant, Dr. Muhammad Fairuz Abdul Rahman, who treated me with the utmost care and respect (and didn’t share my diagnosis with the entire waiting room). After he reviewed CGH’s CT scan results, he said I wasn’t bleeding as there was no rupture. He said, however, I needed full abdominal surgery, in which a 10 cm vertical incision would be made, and also said he would “chope” a date ASAP. After that I made a few more trips to see him, get paperwork done, and pre-register for my op. On the day of surgery and my post-op 3-day stay at KKH, I was looked after with such kindness and professionalism I was almost reluctant to leave. The food was yummy too (my hubby can vouch for it as he ate half of everything I was given)! Kudos to the phenomenal team in Ward 71 on the 7th level of the Women’s Wing for your amazing care that will forever be imprinted on my mind. I shall name names: my surgeon the brilliant Dr. Muhammad Fairuz Abdul Rahman; his assistants for the operation, Dr. Ong Kai Zhi and Dr. Lau Jieyi; Dr. Marlene Samantha Goh who looked after me post-op; and last but not least the team of wonderful nurses, including Catherine Bautro De La Peña, Ting Hie Hee, and Apple Pie Banaag Madrid. I am super, super touched and super, super impressed. Of course, like in every bureaucratic agency, there are random kinks and your usual frustrations dealing with day-to-day operations… like “nurse, what do you mean when you say ‘put this on your head and your body before surgery’?” and “nurse, can you don’t poke me so hard with that thing in your hand, it’s painful leh, wait my ovarian cyst rupture then you know!” And KKH returned a cheque to my mom with her name incorrectly spelled… BUT this all comes with the territory of running a ginormous publicly funded hospital with hard working albeit overworked doctors, nurses, and administrators. With a bit of patience and understanding on our part, we will be able to see and appreciate the brilliance and kindness of KKH’s docs and nurses behind the chaos. Again, my heartfelt kudos and deep appreciation to this team for your care, professionalism, and high standards. Last word: perhaps enhance communications training for your frontline staff so they can better explain what and how to “put this on your head and body” and show more empathy and not “poke so hard”? My two cents.
During our recent holiday in Singapore, my 1y.o son fell ill with fever and difficulty breathing. Thankfully, KK Hospital provided exceptional care that put us at ease.
The staff at KK Hospital were attentive from the moment we arrived. Registration was quick, and the doctors and nurses were both caring and professional. Despite being foreigners, we're from Indonesia, we found the pricing to be reasonable, which was a relief.
KK Hospital's warm hospitality made a challenging situation much easier to navigate. We're grateful for their excellent service and reassuring presence during our time of need. Thank you, KK Hospital!
Big government hospital. Basically they are professional and staffs are very kind.
Sad to say however, once we decided to hospitalise our Son and left room with asking nurse to care him, they couldn’t give him milk properly and called us several times for help.
Only this is the one I didn’t satisfied with them, all other things I’m thankful for their kind help and guidances.
I had a surgery here more than a month back.
I am a subsidised patient.
Before, During and after the surgery I felt like I was in good hands.
During my stay, the nurses have been so cheerful and gone the extra mile to make me feel comfortable. The cheerful lunch/dinner lady with a bounce in her step. The doctors and nurses who are so warm and kind.
Even during post surgery visits, the nurses and doctors have this energy that makes it very different from other hospitals.
Every step of the way I felt the genuine care of the nurses and doctors.
Thank you healthcare peeps for taking care of me during my health journey.
Just had a laparoscopic cystectomy as a subsidized patient with team-based care led by Dr Wan KJ. The surgery went well and I recovered in no time (Thanks to the surgical team and ward nurses who had all been very comforting from the surgery to the day I was discharged), and I felt really well taken care of. Dr Wan has been very professional, understanding and sensitive towards my needs and my overall experience had been very positive. Like any public hospital, the waiting time from first consultation to actual surgery took a few months, but I also had a lot of tests & scans done in between to mitigate any risks and ensure the treatment option is suitable.
kudos to the nurses and doctors on the level of details and care they have taken to look after me during my stay.
the operation recovery care nurse hid my wallet in my bag for me without me asking her to do so ...! (I was alone for my operations that day)
infact it was so well hidden i thought it was lost.. the nurses at my ward (C) took very good care for me during my stay.
Incredible dedication and professionalism by the Drs and nurses.
Take the 1 star reviews with a pinch of salt. Just some salty angsty pple.
Had a minor surgery done in September and the whole process was smooth, systematic and pleasant. Appreciate the nurses who took care of me (Lilian Kurup, Shunmei etc). I agree that it was a little confusing when I first visited the hospital since it is very digitalised now but you just have to ask around if you really can't figure out. Healthcare staffs are underappreciated and I feel that people should be more grateful and gracious towards the healthcare system/workers.
To my wife: "Mother's inside, sit over there and take injections."
To Me: *Nurse eyes open big big* "MEN, STAY OUTSIDE!"
These remarks happened twice in the same day, by 2 older age nurses.
I'm not going to name names.
But it's just for guys to know the process you are getting into.
Cheers.
The doctors at the Children’s A&E were excellent, conducting thorough examinations and explanations. They were also very patient with children. Other staff members the Children’s A&E including nurses, administrative personnel, volunteers, and pharmacists were very friendly and provided clear explanations. Thank you KK Hospital.
Dr June Tan - Thank you for the time, answering all our questions during our appointments despite her busy schedule. Being first time parents, June was friendly and patient with us. Deeply Appreciated.
Dr Yip Swee Lin (If I remember correctly. Too anxious/excited to take note of name 😅) - She lighten the mood and calm Sharon down.
Had a great experience in the labor ward.
Ward 81(Observation) and Ward 82 (post-delivery) - Thank you all so much.
The nurses/doctors in these 2 wards are mostly friendly and ready to answer questions whenever they check on her.
Thank you all once again.
I went their for my daughter..she had an A and T , bleeding very badly..the staff right from getting down from ambulance till getting her stitches were very nice, well behaved, polite, experienced. Despite having lots of patient, they took my kid first,as it was an emergency her wound was open. Coming from India getting such a treatment, I am really gratefull to the attendee doctor and all the Nurses.
It was 15 years ago when my wife was treated by Dr. Law at KKW&C hospital. We were desperate for a baby for 09 long years after marriage, had undergone many fertility treatments back in Sri Lanka with over 10 doctors…. But my wife was hopeful and she trusted this hospital from the first appointment we made over the phone. Dr law was more than a gynecologist who treated us by giving the best medical advice and attention. Finally my wife got conceived and after nine months we were gifted with a miracle baby girl who is now 14 years… We are beyond great full to Dr Law and the KKWC staff for the miracle.
Had a very pleasant experience giving birth here, from admission process to post delivery. Especially thanks to Dr Ilka Tan, for her episiotomy stitching skills, also the nurses in the delivery suites for the support & encouragement that makes my delivery a smooth one. Thank you KKH 👍👍 for the pleasant memories!
Great service from the triage to registration to observation room and last admission. The process is smooth and easy. Dr Choo is attentive and also derailed in explaining the treatment plan. Regularly return to check on my son. The room is full with other children with respiratory issues and the nurses and Dr are very good in helping babies and children. Toilet is a little small with only two cubicle and not clean often enough.
My son feels at ease in the hospital and overall a good experience.
Had to give credit to the doctors and nurses on duty yesterday. Despite the long waiting hours, my daughter kept me awake by saying bye2 and thank you to the nurses and doctor whom attend to her. Appreaciate it more if some of the nurses to be gentle and polite to kids as they are not adults. Practice makes perfect. Kudos to the frontliner👍 Parents, please prepare sufficient amount of milk, diaper and water to hydrate yourself and your child during waiting time. Trust me. It helps alot. Drink alot of 100 plus for yourself. Take care & stay safe people☺️
I went for spinal surgery at KKH. The nurses were all very friendly and caring. My anaesthetist calmed me down and talked to me before surgery in the operating theatre and visited me everyday. The surgeon also came to visit on a Sunday, so I was quite touched. When I was wheeled down to get an x ray, I was having really bad back spams and the nurses let me lie down on one of the beds. They tried to comfort me even though they weren't assigned to take care of me. The post- op care is excellent and I would like to say thank you to the fantastic staff at KKH.
Went for an allergy test at KKH. The doctors and nurses were professional, patient and very helpful. Explanations were all very clear and easy for me to understand. Thanks to all the staff 🙏
I had a D&C procedure on the 21st June, from admission to after the surgery, all the medical staff that I came into contact with were very nice, concern and helpful. I have high blood pressure and throughout the wait, my levels were in the normal range considering the fact that I have white coat syndrome, all thanks to the attending nurses who were always with smiles and kind words. Really appreciate and grateful for the care that day, thanks.👍😄
SG's main hospital for kids and women. It's kind of a love hate place, depending on what, when and who. I have been here more than a couple of times, for various purposes and visits. Sometimes the experience is pleasant, while others, just frustrating. During peak hours, the wait for a doctor at the A&E can go up to 6 hours. Even during non-peak, the wait still easily hit 2 hours.
The wards are pretty decent though, easy to navigate and well maintained, both for women and children wards.
The specialist clinics are also well maintained, but in my opinion understaffed (especially medical officers). With such high human density in SG, this is the only govt-based clinics for specialised children care, which means that publicly subsidised medical appointments take up to 3-4 months of wait time, depending on which clinic you need to go to. In fact, this is the general wait time for the local restructured hospital's specialist clinics if you are on the subsidised route. This pales in comparison to private class patients, who can easily get an appointment within a day or 2 if there are slots. Imagine the frustrations for those who can't afford and want to seek medical opinions more urgently (but their conditions may not warrant the short appointment time frame simply because they are on the subsidised route).
Quality of care by doctors also varies different, again due to the high human traffic and patients, it's tough for patients under public subsidised payment to have more personalised care from doctors, compared to the private-class patients.
There is ample food/eateries including a rather "unhealthy" Macs present in a children hospital. There are also shuttle buses providing services to nearby drop off points which is good for the patients/visitors, as the nearest MRT (Little India) is quite a distance away.
First time here in KKH due to daughter’s (Michelle Goh SJ) vomiting with some blood. Many patients but room 3 female doctor, Dr Tiffany?, her consultation nurse and all the other nurses in A&E (registration) are polite and caring.
Sorry to trouble u all. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Good government hospital, I had a wonderful doctor Manisha Mathur. She is very kind and attentive, thanks to her a beautiful baby was born. I thank her very much for her professionalism, kindness and support.
The doctors and medical staff were very patient and listened to our questions!
The best place is only Singapore, a good place
